Went long to Event Cinemas at Indooroopilly shopping centre it was a Friday lunchtime. The parking is fairly easy by gate 5 and quick access into the cinema centre above the food court. This area is handy if you want to get something to eat or snacks. There is certainly a candy bar at the cinema centre but having choice downstairs is a bonus, although watch out for lunch times, they are long queues to get food and the service. Although covid restrictions are easing, mask and green code check-in are still required before the purchase of a ticket. It was no fuss entry process, and staff were particularly pleasant and polite, not something I have always found on previous visits. I only go to this cinema centre if a movie is showing that I can't see somewhere else in my locale. The cinemas are certainly not up to standard when you compare with other cinema centres around, for example Reading at DFO Jindalee or the Eldorado, Indooroopilly. I have got used to leather seating, tables, recliner chairs and licensed bars as standard !.. and a for 10 or $12 ticket price at other centres. Unfortunately the cinemas in this Centre are old and outdated. They have that mouldy damp smell, and the chairs are the old standard with a cup holder that your drink holder that your cup could easily fall through. I find the damp mouldy smell of these cinemas quite off putting. It is far more comfortable to be able to put your feet up on a recliner but not possible unless you go to Gold Class and not all movies are screening in that setting. More that their ticket prices higher starting at $15.50 or above. There are booster seats available for children. Perhaps these cinemas are good for families with children and the mess they often leave behind. Apart from the advantage of perhaps a broader number of movie titles, there are certainly other places one would choose to go that also include free parking. Here at the shopping centre it maxes out at 3 hours but you can apply to get your tickets stamped to allow more time without the payment.
So disappointed with our visit today. We booked the cinema as they advertised the movie as Closed Caption. When I asked for the closed caption the machine the girl serving was puzzled as she said the cinema we were in wasn’t set up for captioning. She even checked with the manager and came back with the machine and said she was told it would work. The movie starts, the captions don’t work. I went to complain and the manager was brought out. Apparently advertising movies as Closed Captioned and then not having captions is a “mistake”. Denying accessibility is not a mistake it is wilful false advertising. We do not usually go to Event Cinemas but to Hoyts as they have caption machines for most movies, and only booked today due to the Closed Captions offered. I’m grateful that we were given complimentary tickets for our trouble but that doesn’t make up for denying a child the same rights as anyone else to see a movie. If you don’t offer captioning don’t advertise it as such because it’s not a “mistake” to the deaf person attending the cinema. There are already so many limited options for captioning and this is just disgraceful. I will not be supporting Event Cinemas again.
We came to watch the movie “OPERATION FORTUNE: RUSE DE GUERRE” on (Friday 20th January 2023) at 9:30 pm. While purchasing the tickets, we found only two booked seats. Yet, when we entered the Cinema 9, we found a group of underaged people (around 8 people) who set together and did not pay the tickets. They were extremely noisy by talking and laughing loudly. As a result, we could not be able to focus and watch the movie well. Also, this is unsafe and dangerous to have people who are not checked in, paid the tickets, and known by the staff. By the end of the movie, I informed the manger about this violation of the regulation. She was kind and gave us free tickets to come again watching the movie. However, this kind treatment will not help to prevent this behavior of people in the future. The security must be an priority. The head of mangers of Event Cinemas in Brisbane must tackle this mega issue by applying strict secure rules inside cinemas.
Gold class at this event cinema is nowhere near as good as the Gold class at Chermside yet the price for the tickets were the same. The recliner buttons were extremely difficult to use and somewhat broken in comparison. The men's toilet in Gold Class was also out of order and the whole place seemed a little run down. Its fine and the movie was good but it needs some TLC. Even BCC Strathpine was in bad shape and a few months after I left a negative review they started doing up the cinema to include really nice reclining chairs. I can definitely tell this cinema is much older than any other even I have gone too, or they just lack the funds to revamp the place. It really needs a makeover as Gold Class here was standard at Chermside Event. Just saying.
I bought my tickets online, which I thought would make it quicker. On arrival found out the whole ticket counter is unattended, with a sign telling people to go to the candy bar. There were also machines where people can buy tickets/collect tickets. The machine, however, would not scan the QR code, so up to the candy bar we went, only to discover there were only 2 checkouts open and both had mile long queues. A third was eventually opened, but at that stage I was close to the front of mine. I shouldn't have to queue behind people buying half the candy bar and tickets, just to collect tickets I bought online. Machines are also useless if they won't scan QR codes. What a pathetic system, with no customer service.
We have been regular patrons of Gold Class Indooroopilly prior to COVID. Just visited them tonight to watch The Marvels. Seats were clean and customer service great. The positives ended there. Food overall disappointing. We ordered the following - fries three ways - no longer nearly arranged like before, felt like the cook just grabbed a handful of a mixture of frozen fries/wedges, threw them into the deep fryer and tipping them into a basket. - veg spring rolls - ok - salt and pepper squid - had a fishy smell - ham and pineapple pizza - ham was thin and dry. Felt like it came from a supermarket ready packed ham. The only saving grace was the cheese. Sorry, for $26 a pizza, I should have take-away pizza capers.
Totally useless customer service, you can't contact any individual cinema, there is no chat option, all you can do is send an email and they will respond whenever, or not at all, this is not a comment about the cinema or movies, it's about the company, happy to take your money (and it's expensive) but will not give you any service because not wanting to hire people for customer service. The booking fee using the internet is also outrageous, another reason to use streaming services, be reasonable with prices and give us customer service like in the past and keep customers or continue the way you are going and cinemas will close down.
The Gold Class experience is absolutely below par at Indooroopilly Event. One time my girlfriend and I left 30seconds into the movie after a burger was thrown at us by another patron, and anther time there were 6x kids just running through the aisles and literally rolling on the floor kicking our seats. The experience is ruined by the patrons that attend, and the staff aren’t accessible during the film without us missing the show that we paid good money for. The staff were apologetic when we complained after the film, but nothing will be done to prevent this in future. We won’t be returning to Indooroopilly Gold Class again.
Cinemas are well spaced and comfortable. Meets basic expectations of a movie theatre, but does not exceed. Main let down is usually a let down in customer service. Personal examples include, multiple occasions of no ticket attendants at entry for checks, customers visibly needing assistance but not approached by any member of staff. This includes Gold Class experience. As expected in a cinema, refreshments are over-priced. Despite some negatives, we still return as it is overall a fun and relaxing experience, holiday and membership discounts are good and the pricing of seats are fair for what you are receiving.
DON’T USE GIFT CARDS. We recently went to Gold Class with a gift card. My wife & I bought drinks from the bar using the gift card. When we tried to use the card again we were told it had been fully redeemed. The hidden terms and conditions say that the card is only valid for one transaction. I should have taken the time to thoroughly read the terms & conditions, the same as a home loan. Although it was only a relatively small amount. I found it to be misleading and deceptive business practices. It’s very disappointing that Event use these tactics while still charging $19 for popcorn and a drink.
Understaffed. Went to see a Gold Class Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning Film tonight. They forgot to turn the lights off when the film started, someone from the audience had to go and see the staff to turn it off. As well as that, they ended up forgetting my order along with other peoples. Had to get a refund. Pretty much the worst Gold Class cinema experience I’ve ever had. I don’t understand why they can’t have more staff on to cater. It’s the big cinema season. With all these box office films. I am going to avoid this event theatre and try go to a different location next time.
Watched the black panther movie tonight in gold class. The sound quality was shocking! The music was overpowering the dialogue of the film. The sound level was so intense I spent half the movie with my ears blocked as my ears were vibrating from the excessive sound. On top of that. Being a gluten free customer the gold class menu is not inclusive at all. After my experience today I will not be going back to gold class nor the event cinema at Indooroopilly. I can provide a better experience at home.
Visiting Indooroopilly Shopping centre on 01/09/21 we decided to watch RESPECT movie inside Event Cinemas & the Event Complex is very large modern & spacious, unsure if its due to being a Wednesday the Cinema was extremely quiet & we were the only two watching the movie. Overall a goof experience. Excellent bus service or train service to & from the CBD.
Very nice cinema. I come here for Gold Class. Very good service. Food is a teensy bit expensive, to be honest. But the quality of the food is worth the cost. The best part is, I'm a companion card holder, so I get a free ticket for my companion. These guys are professional and understand my entitlements and honour the card every time. 10/10 recommend.
Very good cinema complex. Clean, and with a variety of cinema styles. Chairs were comfortable with the ability to raise the armrest between the seats. The only issue I had was being able to hear the rumble from the cinema next to the one I was in which detracted from the quiet nature of the movie I was watching. Other than that it was a good cinema.
Huge thanks to Laney and her offsider who worked the Gold Class evening session on 23rd August. Laney was superbly professional and helpful with our ticketing (and rediscovering our CineBuzz membership) and both girls were wonderful at ensuring the food and drinks process went smoothly. They contributed greatly to an enjoyable evening.
People are great here and the vene is always clean and tidy. Having said that, is it me or are the seats starting to become noticeable uncomfortable??? Maybe it is simply the fact that a large preparation of films in the few years have become near 3hrs. I can’t suspend mydisbelief (or anything for that long) is challenging.
Great gold class standard with excellent seating, good food selection, and drinks. Can get a bit pricy without discounts but good for a relaxing night out. Clean and comfortable layout. Free childcare for every third Thursday night sounds like a treat. Many dining options in the vicinity as well.
Went to gold class and wow. What an experience. It was all really high quality food and their pizzas were so huge it was lucky I could take the rest of it home. Very well trained staff with minimal interruption to the movie with their food delivery. It was certainly worth going.
The cinema we were in (8) was in very poor condition. Seats were old and tatty and the top of the screen actually had a bend in it and looked like it was falling down. Absolute joke of a cinema for what they charge. Goto another cheaper cinema and save your money.
Very bad manner one of the young male staff. Very rudely spoken and very short when I asked for seniors ticket complete opposite attitude & service than we received from a lovely young female staff member a week earlier Not recommended Will not return again .
Self serve kiosk perhaps to blame for a lot of very young teenagers in the audience of Halloween Ends last night MA 15+. Some were vaping in front of us and asked to leave by Usher. Well done. Good to see I wasn’t on my own when I also asked them to stop.
Jamaica was an excellent assist when walking into the cinema early she was polite and quick to tell us that when entering the cinema that they were not currently prepared for guest to enter. Great work girl! This job isn’t a forever thing so love it up!!
Came in wearing my school uniform and the lady at the front refused to give the 50% off student discount because we didn’t have student ID cards. We then went into the movie where we sat through 25 minutes worth of ads. Would give 0 rating if I could.
Excellent cinema experience with wide recliners, surround sound, and very fancy surrounds. Don't choose the front seats - they are way too close to the screen. The food and drinks are expensive - expect to pay at least $80 to $110 per couple.
This experience has nothing to do with the staff, they were great and this is not their fault. But can we just be honest about how ridiculously expensive this place is?! $52 for an adult, child and a small drink and popcorn!!! And for being
Decore for Gold class waiting room is quite old and bathrooms are tired and in need of a makeover, but in true gold class style the staff was amazing, service was great and plenty of food & drink items available. A very enjoyable night out.
Helpful and friendly staff. Ample parking space and closest parking is via Gate 5 on Musgrave road. Please note that while at entrance max height is set to 2.2m inside due to beams, max height is only 2.0m so cars with storage pods or
Very disappointed with our visit at this cinema yesterday morning. We booked Gold Class tickets as a treat - the staff where we ordered our food were unfriendly and immediately took the shine off the experience, as though we were an
Not a bad place and ample parking space available. Kids friendly and have options available to choose candies , drinks and chocolates. Cinema seats quality is good and well maintained. The students discount ticket is for $10.
I was watching movie with my little one it has big screens as well and you don’t worry about parking in evening time before we go to mount Gravatt but here mostly seats are available so we enjoyed lot with hot popcorn …
Cinema and sound quality were good. Food prices are obscene. Really $18.90 for coke and popcorn. Wouldn't cost more than a dollar to produce. So far out of touch. Look for cheaper options. Typical corporate greed.
WHY NO FRESH POPCORN? We got a stale box that was kept in a warmer with no salt or butter and the drink straws dissolved before the movie even started. The movie experience was good but the concession stand sucks.
The V Max was definitely worth the slight bit extra on the tickets. Great sound and vision from comfy seats. Staff, as always were friendly and helpful. A great night out at the flicks.
Nice cinema with comfy chairs and a gold class option. It is kept clean and has competitive pricing. It sits just above the food court at Indooroopilly so dining choices are excellent.
Staffs are so much friendly and nice. It is my first time coming to see the movie in Australia and honestly, it is AMAZING!!!!!!! Love this theatre. Food was also perfect.
I loved the employee named topaz she helped us out with our movie tickets and even came up to us to help out in person what a great employee!
Top gun, Wow loved it! Amazing food service, food was hot n fresh, shout out to the kitchen chef everything was as we ordered it.
Had a great experience at the Indooroopilly Cinemas. Great service and was good value for the money. Keep up the good work
Great cinema! Always clean and so nice and large. The food is expensive but what else can you expect from a cinema.
Gold class is the best way and cheap if you have a cinnabuz membership Just wish they would revamp the food menu
Nice cinema. Great movies. Seating was ok. If talk you will feel squashed. I was sitting in theatre 4.
Gold class was an awesome experience and the family food package was filling and value for money.
Great cinema wonderful staff and 4 hour free parking upon reimbursement using movie ticket
Pleasant experience. Even the pop corn was boxed up ready to purchase... super efficient!
This cinema needs to have some proper cleaning done to the theatre seats.
Love Gold Class here, it’s always clean and the service is really good
Expensive, food sucks, cinemas are okay readyings is better
Great cinema's with easy access from parking garage.
