We did our entire roof with Excel roofing last summer. In terms of positives, Excel had a lower price than their competitors, said that they would use good quality GAF material, they were responsive to my initial emails, and they showed up to do the install when they said they would. However, that’s where the positives end. First, they did a very rushed job (you get what you pay for) with nails missing studs, ripped water shield, strange roof cap bindings which look ugly. The work site was also left quite full of nails. I shared pictures of the install with other roofers and they all found the install sloppy. The most serious issue started this summer when, following two periods of hard rain, we developed two water stains on our second floor ceiling! This never happened with our old roof. I called the company at least 5 times over several weeks to have them do the repair. However, they either “forgot” to come, or said that someone from their team would fix the the issue (they didn’t). I tried to give them a chance to fix the issue. However, two months later, it is clear that they are either unwilling or incapable of making the repair. All in all, this company cannot be counted on for any warranty repairs. Only use them if you need to do a quick and cheap roof install prior to moving out. Update following owner's reply: We had the roof installed last August. The ceiling stain happened after the big rain storm in May, which is less than a year since the roof was installed. I tried calling Alex (owner) multiple times, however, it took several calls to get in touch with him. It also took a few reminder calls where he "forgot" to send someone to look at the stain. While it is true that an L bracket was installed on July 18, which is appreciated, the worker said that someone would return to add caulking. However, this was never done. I will revise my review when it is completed. In terms of visible nails not affecting structural stability, the issue is that having nails showing above our backyard patio door looks extremely bad and is something that could have been avoided with a quick visual inspection of the finished roof. Finally, ensuring that the site is clear of debris and nails should not be considered a premium service. We borrowed our family's magnetic broom to do another cleanup after the crew left and found close to 50 nails around the house and in the gutters.

After seeing how professional and clean my neighbours’ residence roof replacement went (see John R’s review below), I decided to give Excel Building & Roofing a call. Alex answered my call and offered to stop by later that afternoon to provide me a quote. Alex was very helpful in explaining the process and answering my questions given it was my very first time having to replace a full roof. Furthermore, he was able to provide us with various addresses close to our address so that we could better “see” the different tile colours that we were interested in and provided his own recommendation as well (which in the end – he was spot on!). Alex was very efficient and friendly whenever we spoke, thank you Alex – we really appreciated this! The roofing crew were on site within the week after we signed our contract and the materials were delivered promptly. We had the same team that our neighbours’ had (Martin, Kevin and Cedrick) and you could not have asked for nicer gentlemen, they showed up each day on time, listened to my concerns (we have a pool in the backyard) and were simply amazing roofers as they installed our roof in 2 days. They ensured to cleanup at the end of each day even after a long day’s work on our roof. Overall my wife and I were completely satisfied with the entire process from Alex, through to install and then registration of our warranty. Look no further than Excel Building & Roofing for all of your roofing needs. They were fair with their price, provided quality work on their install and also were able to give us excellent customer service on all aspects of the job. Bravo and thank you!

Excel Building and Roofing replaced my roof earlier this month (June 2020). I have to say I was impressed with the company from the very beginning. Alex Forget (owner) was quick to come by and give me a quote. I got quotes from 6 companies and Excel was very competitively priced. I also did my homework researching the companies online for certification, Better Business Bureau ratings and customer reviews. I found Alex to be very professional, knowledgeable and personable. He took the time to answer my questions, explain the repair process and I never got that “salesperson” feeling. I was equally impressed with the crew that did my install. Kane and James are super hard workers and it is apparent that they take pride in their work. They did an fantastic job on my roof! They were meticulous with their clean-up everyday and they were always very friendly and polite. In fact, my neighbor even commented on how pleasant they were. Like I said earlier, my experience was very positive at every step along the way. I have no reservations to recommend Excel Building and Roofing. I think it would be a mistake if you don’t at least consider them when you get quotes on your repair.

Excel reshingled my roof (12x12 pitch) in the past few weeks and I could not be more satisfied!! Other than seeing them on other roofing jobs in the neighbourhood and a doorknob marketing brochure, I did not know Excel or any other reliable roofers, so I researched them. I looked for any concerns with reputation, workmanship, warranty claims, negative feedback or dissatisfied customers and am happy to share that I did not find anything that would suggest Excel was willing to compromise quality for profit. In fact, the opposite was true! When Alex and I met, he asked me what I wanted, explained the roofing system his company uses and the GAF Roofing System warranty. Prior to the job starting, Excel called to confirm the dates and on the project date, sent two crews, and I am happy to share that if was completed in a single day. Excel Building & Roofing was such a pleasure to work with. Purchased a new house and they were able to give me a quote for a new roof via email. They have satellite software that they can use to see the size of your roof without even going to the property. This was great because I could schedule the new roof installation before I took possession of my new house and the work was scheduled immediately after I got the keys. Roof install was done in November and was delayed for 1 day due to rain but I was notified quickly via email. On the date of the installation, they had a crew of 5. Originally was quoted that it would take 2-3 days but the roof was finished in one day. Crew was very friendly and cleaned up really well once it was completed. Extremely happy with the service. My only comment was that they were a little slow sometimes to return my calls or my emails, but I know its because they are very busy - which is a good thing. So please, have patience. It is well worth it!

The installation was seamless and efficient. Everything went as was proposed upon signing on with Excel. The crew doing the job was professional and courteous. Not once did my questions pose as an imposition and every time they took the time to talk with me or provide me with an update. One of the things that impressed me the most was the daily clean and after the job was done. Our renovation contractor recommended Alex as the "go to" roofer company. I called Alex for an estimate and requested an emergency repair after the big storm in 2022. Alex was quick to respond and act immediately organizing the repair. Soon after the 1st storm, another storm surprised us and left us with a leak and more damage. I called Alex, and again, the repairs were done immediately to mitigate risks and further damage. Our roof was replaced a week ago (April 2023). Excel did a great job on the new roof installation for our home this Spring. Alex was friendly and responsive and provided a fair quote upon his first visit that was later honored upon completion. Alex, Natalie and the installers answered all of our questions. The full roof installation was done over a 3-day period. His team of installers were professional and did a thorough job with the installation as well as the clean up (using large tarps to capture debris and strong magnets to remove all screws etc.). We used Excel Roofing to replace our roof as a result of the storm of May 2022. This company was extremely easy to deal with and very professional. Had an issue with the roof with pests and also the roof was pretty old and needed a new roof done. Excel team was very quick to respond and once contract was signed the execution was very fast and on time. Completed the work as agreed and good quality with very minimum supervision from us. I gave 4 starts only because the cleanup was not very good!! There were nails all over the place and they had came one week after and cleaned a little(not fully). But now there is snow on the ground and I have to wait till summer to see what is actually left on the ground!! Still working out how I can get the place cleaned once snow is gone.

Not a customer, but a neighbor who of a person who had their roof done by Excel roofing. The workmanship looks good and they did the roof within 2 days on a large house. The lower review is mainly the mess. There is so much plastic debris (from small pieces to very large plastic wraps & left over debris) all over my backyard on the street, that they threw from the roof. Excel appears to have done a good job cleaning the plastic debris off the property of the house that they were doing the roofing, but didn't seem bothered to clean up all the plastic flying down the street nor in the yards of the neighbors.

Dealing with Alex was straightforward and easy. My roof had suffered damage due to excessively high winds and it was very late in the season, late November and I was fearful that I wouldn't be able to get a contractor to come and that the winter would cause much more significant damage. Alex came to provide a consultation despite being very busy and was able to fit me into an ever tightening window of opportunity. Alex has been professional, friendly and responsive through the entire process of getting our new roof. We were concerned about water damage on our ceiling from our roof and Alex made sure to book us in early this spring to replace our roof. We recently had Excel put new shingles on our roof and we were very pleased with the quality of the work. Booked a appointment with them to inspect our roof. They didn't show up for the appointment, so we called and they said they don't do 3 floors building. They didn't bother to call us to cancel and wasted our time. Unprofessional. Update; they called us later, trying to persuade us to take my bad review down... and like he admitted, he show up, saw that out home was 3 floors high, and just left without telling us he could not do the job.

We had water seepage problems due to blown over shingles that required urgent work. It was difficult getting contractors to come due to the recent big storm in May but Excel came through with a reasonable quote and replaced the entire roof for us ahead of their normal schedule wait time. There was an issue with the installation but Alex responded within minutes and it was resolved the same day it was reported. Recommended!
