I had Stewart Roofing re-roof my typical Barrhaven home in November 2016. Here is my review. Of the 3 estimates I obtained Stewart Roof was the most expensive but I was looking for a professional, quality job and did not mind paying for it. They replaced my skylight with a new skylight that was obviously too large for the opening. Strangely they did not mention anything to me, I guess they were hoping I would not notice it? I had to call the salesman who came back and agreed it was the wrong skylight. A new skylight was ordered and installed several weeks later! They forgot to install the rain channels as documented in their quote and that are apparently required for warranty to be valid. They came back and installed the rain channels but didn't locate them properly so now whenever it rains the water simply goes past the rain channel onto the shingles. They left lots of old nails and roofing material on the roof which became visible in the spring after the snow and rain had a chance to push the debris down the roof to a viewable area. My roof leaked just 2 weeks after installation (a Saturday night)! This caused the ceiling and wall drywall in the area to become completely soaked. To their credit they did come back on Sunday morning and coated the area with several tubes of caulking to stop the leak. On Monday, I spoke with the foreman for over an hour who then proceeded to try and blame me for the leak and wanted me to pay $200 to correct the issue (yes this is on top of the $8200 invoice). I obviously refused and decided to take it higher up the chain. I talked with the owner and let him know my concerns about the quality of the installation of my roof. He eventually agreed to come back in the spring to correct the leak properly. During the spring repair job one of the workers carelessly drove over my lawn causing an 8 foot long indentation on the grass which had just been covered with top soil and seeded. My warranty information was very difficult to obtain. I had to send several emails and make several phone calls before I finally received my warranty information. Over 9 months after installation! In the end I have essentially lost faith in Stewart Roofing. I declined their offer to repair the drywall and damage to my lawn. Based on what I experienced, the poor workmanship, communication and horrible customer service is definitely not what you would expect from a company like Stewart therefore, I would NOT recommend this company or use them in the future.

We wish to commend Stewart Roofing Ltd. of Ottawa, Ontario, the company that replaced the roof of our house in late 2022. There is no question in our minds about Stewart Roofing being totally focused on, and committed to, serving the customer as their top priority. They demonstrated this to us in a very tangible manner. The real test of a company’s commitment to customer service is not the project where everything goes according to plan, no issues are encountered, and both the customer and the service provider are completely satisfied with the outcome. No, the real test comes with projects that are accompanied by unwelcome surprises. The way a company responds to the issues raised in such projects reveals the company’s true commitment to customer service. Our roofing project fell into the second category — it was followed by “unwelcome surprises.” The installation of the new roof went well enough, and it was completed on schedule and within budget. However, two weeks later, leaks appeared in our family room. The timing was not opportune; winter weather, including freezing rain, slush, and snow, had arrived in spades, and the Christmas-New Year’s holiday season was fast approaching. Moreover, our house has had several renovations and additions; consequently, the roof is somewhat complex and includes a skylight. Tracking and eliminating the source of the leaks became a major challenge. Despite the time of year and the technical challenges being faced, from the time we reported the first leak to the company to the time when all leaks were eliminated and the associated water damage was repaired, the company’s response was outstanding on every level. For example: instant responses to our emails and phone calls; timely progress reports on the remedial work being undertaken, including the reconstruction of the original skylight; and using every calendar day with the required weather conditions, including holidays, to expedite their work. We have no reservations about recommending Stewart Roofing Ltd. for even the most complex roofing projects. It is a company that “goes the extra mile” — and more if required — to ensure that their customers are served well. Jim & Diane M.

Excellent roof repair, Stewart Roofing are the pros! Denis from Stewart Roofing repaired my roof leak which occurred where the roof met a wall in two locations. His work was performed efficiently over two days and consisted of removing the lower 2 pieces of cedar siding to expose the wall, and also removing the flashing, shingles close to the wall, as well as step flashing. Denis then installed a waterproof membrane on the edge of the roof deck and lower wall, new step flashing, shingles (to replace the ones that he removed) and also new wall flashing, which looks great. The roof looks better now than it did before he started, as he finished it with a nice brown-coloured flashing with a J-trim to make the cut siding look neat and tidy. The debris was cleaned up on both days and I felt that Stewart Roofing respected my property. Denis gave me some good advice regarding the prevention of ice damming, which I plan on following. He also moved a down-spout at my request to allow me to more easily remove ice from that area of the roof. When having a new roof installed, be sure to have new step flashing and wall flashing installed at the same time to avoid leaks in the future. I learned the hard way about this, but thanks to Stewart Roofing, I now feel less anxious when stormy weather approaches and am looking forward to testing next Spring’s ice melt to truly test the roof and flashing. I would definitely recommend Stewart Roofing to anyone looking to have a new roofing system installed, or for leak repairs.

Our house is 60 years old with cathedral ceiling and low slope roof with ridge venting that requires a membrane-type roof. This is highly specialized work. Recently, a large section of the roof required replacement due to condensation problems in winter. This would entail removal of the old membrane and rotting wood underlay. After a search for low-slope and flat roof specialists, Stewart Roofing was selected. Stan Stewart, with over 30 years roofing experience, inspected the roof and determined what needed repair and also what the most probable cause of the condensation problem was. A complete work order and contract was prepared outlining the work step-by-step. His courteous and skilled professional work crew arrived right on time as scheduled, and the work progressed non-stop over two days until completed. Everything was meticulously cleaned up after completion of work. Stan was completely open to questions during the work, and photographed and explained the work as it progressed. He discovered the cause of the winter condensation problem – a badly insulated bathroom exhaust vent pipe that he initially suspected as the cause - and remedied it. I have nothing but high praise for this company, which also does other types of roofing such as asphalt shingle. If you are in need of roof repair, don’t hesitate to contact Stewart Roofing.

Our 13 year old flat roof started leaking 3 winters ago. We had 2 patch jobs done by the original contractor (who denied that the original roofing job, from 2005, was their work, despite all of the paperwork I showed them) and yet the leaking continued. After that, we approached Stewart Roofing and Stanley Stewart came over right away to inspect our roof. As a result of that inspection, we decided to replace our (by then) 15 year old flat roof as well as our 50 year old cedar siding. Stanley Stewart went out of his way to ensure that we had all of the building materials we needed for this project, at the best price possible. This, we know, was no easy feat to accomplish, during a summer of shortages and extremely high building material prices. Our work was done in several phases. Stewart Roofing’s cedar siding crew came in first, and did an amazing job. The carpentry work was just beautiful to look at. They were followed by the flat roof crew who put in long, hard hours removing the old flat roofing materials and then installing the new roof. Again, the work they did looks great and durable. We have had some heavy rainfalls since the completion of the project, and I am very happy to say, everything at home is completely dry! These guys know their stuff and I strongly recommend them.

Having been impressed by a couple of installations in my neighbourhood by Stewart Roofing, we decided to contact them when it was time to do our roof. We received a thorough explanation of the re-installation of the roof and got a reasonable price quotation from Kieran Stewart. We made our selection of Owens Corning shingles, which come with an impressive fifty year warranty. On the day of installation, the well-organised and friendly crew arrived at the promised time, and they began a neat and efficient removal of the old shingles. Obtained quotes from 5 different Ottawa roofing companies before selecting Stewart. Quote process was quick and well organized, Kieran came prepared having already done a satellite photo based assessment of the house. Available options where quickly explained and backed up with reading material to help with the product selection. Quoted price was very competitive with the others received. The job itself was quickly scheduled (which was greatly appreciated as I had a leak in the roof), and the Stewart job leads were on site to ensure the job went smoothly. The bin, installation crew and materials arrived promptly as scheduled and the job went exactly as described. Cleanup was excellent, and there was no damage to the gardens that surround the house or to the driveway. They noticed a couple of bathroom fan venting issues from a previous renovation that were addressed at no additional charge. Very satisfied overall, and would certainly recommend Stewart to others.

We had our roof done by Stewart because it was recommended to us by many of our neighbours. We don't regret it at all. First we talked with Jade to organize everything, she explained everything not missing one thing. Then we had the crew who worked so hard and went beyond to make sure the job was done well. Great experience overall. I would highly recommend Stewart Roofing to anyone in the Ottawa area looking to do their roof. I had began my estimate requisition process and received quotes from multiple vendors -- Stewart Roofing surprisingly had the best price (which was surprising to me since they seemed like one of the bigger companies of the roofing vendors based on their online presence). It was an overall smooth process from start to finish. The workers showed up early in the day and completed the entire roof by 4pm. My neighbours were surprised that everything was completed in one day as their roofs both took two days for similar size, and other people in the neighbourhood had some experiences with other roofers taking a whole week (lack of workers due to CERB). Everything was well managed, coordinated, fast, perfect installation and cleanup.

Starting with the estimation process through to the completion of my roof I found Stewart Roofing to be very professional. They did excellent work and kept me informed throughout the roof installation. The on-site foreman was very professional and was very active in the roof installation. They used top quality products. It is a year later with no issues at all. I have confidence that this roof will last past 30 or so years unlike my previous roof done by another Ottawa company (with nice trucks) whose roof only lasted 17 years out of 25 years. At the end of 17 years the roof was falling off. So you get what you pay for! If you are looking for a quality roofer I recommend Stewart, as I mentioned, quality product, quality people.

My fiancé and I bought a flat roof home last summer and, to our great joy, found out there was a previously undisclosed leak in the roof on the day we moved in. As the summer went on, we discovered more leaks. I highly recommend Stewart Roofing. Nine year ago I hired Stewart Roofing to replace the shingles on the roof. After the wicked storm on May 21, 2022, that left every 3rd or 4th house in my area with damaged roofs and huge trees uprooted, my roof had no damage. The winds of that storm blew at 190kms, while my backyard had many shingles from the homes around me, all the shingles that Stewart Roofing installed on my roof remained in tact. After having multiple water leaks on one side of my roof and water infiltrating my house, I emailed Stewart Roofing and asked them if they could come have a look at my roof. I wasn't sure if it could be repaired or if I needed a whole new roof. Without looking at my roof to see what the issue was, they responded to my my email stating that they didn't have time to look at it and told me to contact a repair company. I have since found out that I need a new roof. Turning away customers before understanding their issues is a very poor business model.

The whole experience was above and beyond my expectations. My roof started leaking a few days after signing a contract. Once I reported the leak they bumped me up on the schedule and the roof was completed before the next rain fall. Good product with outstanding warranty, professional installation with attention to detail, happy crew :-) and the cleanup included many of my fall leaves etc. They left my property spic and span! With the leak gone, I can now put my pail away.

I have a large roof that is steep, cape code style. I had the roof replaced in 2019, almost 3 years ago by Stewart roofing with Owens Corning architectural shingles. So far, so good - looks great and no leaks. A big team came and finished in a week. They came when they said they would, which I appreciated. My only comment is that the foreman didn’t communicate with me much. The owner did, however, follow up on some questions I had.

I was referred to Stewart Roofing by two of my close friends. Kieran is knowledgeable and responsive, and the quote given is quite competitive. We didn't go with Stewart in the end simply because we preferred a darker shade of black shingles. They helped us with sealing a vent that wasn't caulked when installed, and helped clear another during the snowstorms of early 2019. They've always attended their appointments as scheduled. We contacted 8 Ottawa Roofing companies and decided to go ahead with Stewart Roofing for our shingle/roof replacement; I am very happy we did!
