We arrived at 5:00 on Friday, July 1, 2022 to find the shop had just closed. The owner opened the door and invited us in. She was very friendly and accommodating. The artwork here is high quality and local- much better than some of the surrounding shops. There are other shops near by that tried to do high pressure sales with “steep discounts just for today”. I was very concerned that those shops took advantage of the artists. The prices at Genuine Southwest Arts & Gifts were fair for the quality of the work. That does not mean cheap- rather fair to remunerate the artist and the shop- very important! Thank you for the great customer service!

The older lady who I assume is the owner, was extremely rude. I’m a tourist and the place was cute so I was doing a Snapchat story inside the store. She said “don’t take pictures in here” in a loud hostile voice instead of saying “can you please not take pictures” then provide a reason why like .. idk maybe the owner doesn’t want a free advertising of their store to get more customers in lol. Well instead of me buying something from them now Im here writing this review and I’m not promoting her store. Good luck to her nobody was buying anything anyway.

We saw a hand painted gourd on our trip to ABQ, then decided to purchase it as a gift afterwards online. This delicate item was well packed and shipped next day. There are so many beautiful pieces of art in the shop - it is hard to decide what to get!

One of the few shops to have truly original artwork. Val was incredibly helpful. They partner with local artists, so it is a great place to support and shop local. Definitely check it out if you are looking for a quality piece!

This part of Albuquerque is so rich with history and character. We visited while Clint Eastwood was filming his latest movie due out in 2021..a must see destination.
