The roads from main road are clearly marked. Ive followed the route from the Pinetown test centre. The route is safe. Once your at the entrance, you will pay a fee to enter. There are assistants to guide you to the parking area. There is ample parking. There is a info desk, with helpful friendly staff. You will scan a Qr code and download a map of the different routes and attractions. The bicycle track is at the entrance. There is a medical facility, bicycle shop, restaurant, toilets, kiosk, play area for the kids. Pricing at this venue, is well worth the visit. Bicycles are available for hire, alternatively you can bring your own. Dogs are allowed on a leash. There are different areas for functions/team buildings and another restaurant along the route with fantastic music, food, kids play area. All routes are marked with different colours to guide you though out the way. There are assistants along the way. Along the scenic, adventurous routes, you will meet alot of friendly people. You will pass horses. These routes are best suited for all age groups, depending on the distance you wish do. There is a dam with different waterfalls along the way. A fantastic place to visit, cycle, hike or just spend the day. I will definitely be back. The area is exceptionally clean.

Bike and hiking trails are located in Gillettes. It's a little difficult to navigate and there are no public transport routes nearby so having a personal car would be advantageous. The entry fee is affordable and you only have to pay at the entrance. There are multiple activities available within Giba Gorge such as Hiking, cycling, horse riding, camping, and a restaurant. There are multiple hiking trails in the park, we decided to do the purple trail first because it's the shortest and has the option of continuing onto the Yellow trail which is a bit longer. Both trails lead to beautiful waterfalls. however, If I had to only pick one it would be the Yellow trail because the waterfall at end of the Yellow trail is majestic and a must-see. The trails are not too difficult to navigate with only a few difficult turns and 1 or 2 areas that were difficult to climb. The staff at the start point were helpful and provided us with all the information we need as first-time hikers at Giba Gorge. The overall hiking experience was amazing from start to finish and I would recommend it for nature lovers who would like to get a little bit of a workout while enjoying the beautiful views on offer.

An exhilarating spot with dynamic trails for horse riding, hiking and strolls along the water. There's ample parking available as well as a Café and many shaded trees for a lovely picnic or chill with the family or self. The first trail leads to the waterfall 5kms from the start and is well marked with colour boards to guide you. Kindly note that there is a pond just when you turn towards the first waterfall, and you may end there. The stepping stones to the waterfall itself require a little support for non athletes buy once you cross over you may enjoy a splash in the waterfall. If you choose to continue, the larger/taller waterfall is another challenging route away, and includes a slight cliff with a rope you need to use to scale yourself up as well as 2 wooden ladders to get up and down between different levels. This is notwithstanding the multiple crossings over water. Although well-marked the colour markings on boards do disappear and you have to use a little intuition and follow the direction of the waterfall. Super exciting, very emotional but quite rewarding. Will be back!

Venue was Excellent! Wood fire Pizza's at the restaurant were divine! BUT... The same cannot be said about the lamb bunny at the restaurant. It was the WORST bunny I EVER had. R110 for a so called "half" it was infact a quarter. Took a long time to prepare, curry wasn't tasty and bread was rock hard! Soo hard that it made a loud noise when banged against the plate! Half of the "half" could not be eaten due to the bread being soo hard. Complaints were certainly not valued. Upon complaining to the waiter about the poor bunny, he sarcastically asked us "if our teeth broke" Really poor last experience after a fun-filled day...

This review is for Giba graze and not the gorge or property. The park area, trails etc are great, unfortunately the food not so great. Pizzas, coffee and cake are decent, however we had burgers once which were not good. We had waited about an hour and a half for food that day. I asked today if could order the vegan burrito filling only with chips in place of the wrap to make the meal gluten free. They agreed, when the bill came, they charged us extra for the small side of not good chips and it was basically a very small salad with tasteless beans and cauliflower and some chips for R140. Please do better, the burgers and the burrito filling were very bland.

Attended the #BeYouExperience and had a great time, the area where the stage was set up hosts a big area to enjoy picnics where there are benches with tables to use and jungle gyms for kids, there is a restaurant on site with a clean toilet. We had a Margherita pizza which was thin base and brick oven made, chicken and mayo toasted sandwich and chips. The food was fresh and delicious. Overall it was a nice experience. The hike was a steep and short one, but not difficult. Will return to do a different route. Enjoyed our time there.

WOW. My first time here. Definitely not my last one. I did the blue mountain bike trail (17km, I lost 2 somewhere) and it was very entertaining. Only single trail, up and down, well cleaned from bush (rubbish could be cleaned more but I know this is frustrating thematic here), good signed and a fantastic exercise! It took me 1 hour. Positive that there are no annoying sugarcane sections and no traffic. Staff is very friendly and also open for feedback. Now a cool craftbeer and a pizza at Giba Graze

Very lovely place for a day out with the family. The walks are relatively long so be sure to wear comfortable takkies. The trees are well shaded on the walk so id suggest taking something warm with you too. Make your way to the waterfall and the yellow frame post by the pond for selfies. Good food at the restaurant. Budget R100 per person. Little bit of a gravel road to enter. R40pp

Enjoyed the biking experience at Giba Gorge, the friendly assistant helped us get a ride even though we came late and they were about to close. Can't wait to get back there for biking and horse riding. Add: The view is absolutely stunning with its amazing hidden gems... I recommend this spot for any biking and horse riding experiences, I also learned that you can also bring your own bikes which I find absolutely necessary as some places don't allow such.

Easy 5km hike for beginners. The beginning of the hike has no shade so it would be a good idea taking a sun hat/cap. The waterfall is real a blessing once you reach it, the water is cool and sprays of water can be felt when sitting on the rocks thereby cooling you off. You can swim at the waterfall. There’s a picnic area that nice you enter and a nice play area for the kids as well. There are horses as well for horse riding and a cafe to purchase items.

  • Amanda Hlophe

Love the yellow route, I think it’s the 17km one. I have done the 5km route a number of times, it gets really crowded so the 17km or probably any other route that’s a tad longer and more challenging won’t be as busy. Overall well kept nature reserve, although a few more arrows directing you to your final spot would help. What’s really good is that there are restaurants by the entrance before or after your nature bonding sessions.

Guys we went up to white hut today and this is one of the more challenging hikes in Durban but also one of the most rewarding. We had an excellent guide who always ensured the the group was together and assisted those who needed help on the last big incline of this trail. This is easily a 4.5 out of 5 in high heat. It was about 32° out this morning so I suggest you find a cooler day.

  • Tessa Buhrmann

Fabulous place for a hike... it feels as if you could be in the Drakensberg, with forest trails. clambering up rocky sections and traversing a stream - except for the traffic noise from the N3. A wonderful tound trip 9.5km hike to McIntosh Falls and back, and finished off with a wonderful iced coffee! Maybe we'll plan for brunch next time... their pizzas looked delicious!!

  • Niven Naidoo

Just a hidden gem that every person in Durban should make a trip too. Mountain bikes, trail running, hiking, great outdoor jungle gyms for the kids. Host a party, have a picnic and certainly get something to eat at the lovely restaurant. Food is wonderful and I assure you that you will visit again and again. Nature and fresh air has never been this easy to obtain

  • Noxolo Ngcepe

Great hiking trail. If you were to decide to do the big waterfall be sure you're fit enough, there is alot of climbing and of cos walking. The trail is nicely marked but please ensure that you take a picture of the trail at the offices because it can get a bit confusing. So grab your water..tie your shoes and get ready for an awesome hike

  • Pipeta Palmer

Family fun..walks and great waterfalls..Mountain bike trails..very dog friendly..good bacon and egg rolls ..from early in the morning.. very pleasant staff and lots to do..all ages. This park has managed to build up all the damage done in the recent heavy storms.Waterfalls all looking fantastic..Wonderful walk with two happy dogs.

  • Jabulani Jali

Best place to visit to have fun with Family and Friends. I went for Mountain Hiking for the first time in my life and this place gave me great experience on top of the Boot Camp experience I already got from this wonderful place 2 years ago. Next time I will go for Horse Riding and more only in this place. Photos are my testimony.

This was for the Muddy Princess. Giba Gorge was a fantastic venue to host this event. The trails are great, there's a balance of uphill and downhill hikes. The park area is relaxing, And the food and stall area is quite nice too.

I recently rode at Giba for the first time in absolute years! I was so impressed with all the facilities. The Restaurant was great. MTB Tracks where well marked and maintained as well as good fun and the employees super super helpful! Considering membership as I plan to be there a lot. Well done Giba team!

  • NIVESH MANECKCHUND

Excellent idea for an outdoor family fun day! Various activities, i.e. hiking, bike rides, picnic, etc. The food from the establishment is nothing to write home about, I felt like there was no/lack of salt in the food. Prices are on the higher end. You really go there for the outdoor lifestyle not the food.

  • Bruce Mes

Well maintained and fun trails to run, bike or hike. Beautiful run up the river to the waterfall. Friendly and enthusiastic staff. Reasonably priced restaurant with tasty food in big portions for hungry outdoorsy types. Big bmx track. Bike hire and repair shop Pleasant outdoor picnic area. We'll be back...

  • Errol Pilusa

Beautiful hiking trails along a flowing river which blesses with relaxing and refreshing sounds and breeze. Hiked to three waterfalls, however there's no route markers to the 3rd waterfall. Delicious Pizza too

A very relaxing atmosphere full of natural life . The scenery is well maintained and good for an outdoor family outing experience. The horse rides...the picnic...the falls...the hiking...mountain bike rides...the team building arena . We really enjoyed every moment at this place. Keep it up guys .

  • Anton Payne

Awesome place for hiking ensure that you take plenty of water depending on the route you are hiking and maybe a snack. Well marked out easy to follow. Beautiful waterfalls along the routes. If you considering uo do the 16km a little fitness would be great. Overall a great adventure. …

  • Jared Stanley Robert Schaffner

Well kept routes, we did the hike to the 3rd waterfall. The route to the 3rd waterfall was a bit vague but we found it in the end. Restaurant has a good menu selection, just needed to ask to turn the music down as it was too loud -- not what you'd expect in a quiet, natural environment.

  • Fahmeeda Makada

Beautiful nature reserve with hiking/ running and MTB trails. You can download the maps for the trails- varying distance and difficulty. The trails are marked and easy to follow. Lovely cafe and restaurant with a picnic and park area. There are 2 beautiful waterfalls to walk up to.

  • Kristi Sander

@gibagorge caters for the whole family and is the perfect location for a family day out. Picnic on the lawn or relax in the outdoor café / restaurant. Showers are available to freshen up before your breakfast or lunch. They serve a delicious range of breakfasts and light lunches.

  • Saahil Pramraj

Lovely views and routes to decide on, the facilities are well kept and was organised relatively well. So many things to choose from, definitely was an amazing experience for myself being a newbie hiker! I loved it,this place has certainly set the bar high. On to the next ! …

  • Malusi Khumalo

It was first great experience, since I am keen to pay attention to detail, well, Giba Gorge is a wonderful place to be adventurous, their guides are warm welcoming, kind and helpful in providing information and helping even along the hike, they provide help incase of emergency.

  • Mayibongwe Lunga

Brilliant trails, on one occasion we did the yellow route with the water falls, they are grand to see, a good reward for the hiked distance. The second time we did the red route, quite very challenging going up and going down. And nice places to relax and eat after the hike

  • Jason Scott

What an epic experience! Epic place to do some proper enduro/downhill riding. The people are friendly, the staff are efficient and the groups of riders coming in and out of there are always happy to show you some new trails. Would definitely recommend for any gravity nuts.

  • Lee Nieuwoudt

We often go there for work team building. The activities are fun but some can be quite physically demanding so this can cause injury. Lunch is great, being a vegetarian. They're are beautiful scenic walks to the waterfall which is great to wind down afterwards.

  • Sholene Ramdass

Really awesome hiking trails, good food at the restaurant, and a really good flat white! Although some visitors unfortunately don't practice common courtesy and give others a chance to view/take photos at the waterfalls. Overall, such a gem to have in Durban.

  • Torquil MacNeill

Was awesome, not at 100% yet after the flooding. Volunteers assisting to get the trails on track again. Service from the staff in the restaurants, really good and positive vibes. If you in to riding bikes, a must! Will be back again as the place is a gem.

  • AHS

Better signs needed, got lost getting out. But it is a beautiful place. But the bike trails are not for new riders at all. Do not attempt those trails if you are not a strong experienced rider. The website lacks photos and videos. Will go back in a flash.

  • BF Yakoob

Giba Gorge is beautiful, serene, tranquil, and peaceful. For just a few hours, we felt as though we belonged to the countryside. It's an amazing park for the kids, especially with the activities that they provide. We really lived a fantasy for the day.

  • Rishern Rambakus

The park is absolutely relaxing. There are restaurants on site, service could be better, but the food was good. The hike was pretty awesome and the waterfall was stunning. Plenty to see and do here, especially if you're an outdoor type of person.

  • KUMAREN MOODLEY

Great experience my first time on a hike the first trail is perfect for beginners no special cloths or shoes necessary 5.5km round trip makes it a nice activity. The longer route to the 2nd falls however is a bit more challenging than expected

  • Ada

I went here for an office end of year team building event. Spacious lovely place. Great and helpful staff. Lots of nature and views. various biking and hiking trails. The waterfall is worth the hike. I would absolutely recommend this place.

  • Thandiwe Nxumalo

A gem hidden under the mountains. Friendly for the whole family. Safe hiking with amazing views. Close to the national route. My sister experienced sore feet after our hiking and received medical attention within the premises. Fun fun fun.

  • Durban South Africa

Great hikes.. Lovely scenery and helpful staff.. A very nice waterfall to visit on the longer hike.. Some paths washed away after the large storm in April but still doable for the daring. Pathways are in progress of being repaired

  • Zodwa Thusi

Its difficult to find the address is 101 stockville road. Once inside its just beauty, Nature at its best.. trails vary from easy to "why did I do this" if you make it to the last waterfall well done to you.

  • Nita Sewsanker

Nature didn't disappoint. Very disappointing however was the restaurant on site. Seeing as this is a place families frequent, this restaurant does not have baby chairs or facilities to change diapers.

  • Bruce George

What wonderful views. Two lovely waterfalls and lakes. The hike is not super difficult. Will hike here often. There is an Afros here so no need to carry lots of food. You can always buy from Afros.

  • Randhir Goodoon

Beautiful and amazing hiking trial close to home. There's a really awesome café/restaurant on the way to the first waterfall. I highly recommend the peppermint crisp and peanut butter milkshake.

One of the most family and pet friendly places I know of. Let the kids enjoy the Bmx tracks, picnic with the family or take a walk to the waterfall. Such a lovely outing for the whole family.
