Placed an order through doordash. I ordered 2 lunch specials both with extra meat. I asked them to adjust the payment as necessary as there wasn't a section to add extra meat on doordash. They did as asked and I received my food but the next day I noticed that they double charged me. This order was supposed to be $34 something and I was charged $69.22. Went through hell with doordash directly and trying to get the problem resolved as we speak. To the owners of this restuarant this was your doing. Be careful how you charge people because of your mistake I'm in the hole $34 and may not even get a refund until next week. Also add an extra meat option in your extra section on your online menu it'll make things alot easier and smoother. I'm very angry that you wouldn't notice such a high price for 2 lunch special with extra meat! That was unacceptable! UPDATE: STILL HAVEN'T RECEIVED MY $34 REFUND THROUGH DOORDASH ITS BEEN 3 WEEKS NOW! I'VE GONE THROUGH HELL THROUGH DOORDASH BECAUSE OF THIS RESTAURANT'S DOING. IM SO PI$$ED OFF! LOOKS LIKE ILL BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER CHINESE RESTAURANT WITH COMPETENT PEOPLE WHO KNOW HOW TO CALCULATE PRICES CORRECTLY!

In my quest to find the best Chinese food in Logan Square this was a second place contender. I ordered the usual fried rice, orange chicken, pot stickers along with hot and sour soup and an egg roll. Orange chicken was alright, not the greatest I've had, but still better than 90% of the garbage in Logan Square. Pot stickers were the same usual bland ,wet junk people in Logan Square have come to expect. Egg roll was surprisingly bad as well (don't know how you can screw that up). Fried rice was pretty decent. You can tell it was made the usual lackluster way of soaking it completely in soy sauce until it almost turned completely black, but it wasn't terrible. This was my first time trying hot and sour soup. It had a peculiar taste, but wasn't as bad a miso soup (which tastes like straight p**s around here no matter where you get it from). I'd still have to give this place a pass though. Food quality was just between poor and decent. Non-consistent food=non-consistent customer.

Beware, Ubereats drivers! They do not have the order ready or start it until the driver gets there which defeats the whole purpose of online ordering. They are inconsiderate to the fact that sometimes the drivers have other orders from other restaurants that now are getting cold because they want to have the food fresh and hot when the driver leaves. They seem to be unaware that the driver gets the order at the same time that the restaurant gets the order and Uber makes it so the driver is the same amount of time in distance away from the restaurant as it would take them to make the order thus making it so the driver picks up fresh and hot and ready food ready to go the moment he gets there. But this restaurant seems to do the counterproductive thing and waits to start the order when the driver gets there, again making it so that if he has any other food with him that food will now get cold.

If you have been searching for your go-to friday night takeout chinese staple- this is it. There's only been a few times where what I ordered wasn't exactly what I was intending but it was still delicious. This isn't a frilly place, this is your local greasy spoon for Chinese-American classics that won't disappoint. If you are looking to be wowed by culinary creativity- and high end treatment take yourself back to West Loop and stop leaving bad reviews for a place that doesn't intend to be anything but exactly what it is. A Chinese Restaurant, on North Avenue, serving up the pork fried rice you have been craving.

I loved this place. The food is good and pricing is reasonable. Just recently they messed up my order three separate time that's why I gave them 3 stars instead of 5. Also they did correct my order with no problem. Very nice and polite. Don't like the hassle of going back to store.

I just order food i noticed the difference when they started to asking for my information when I order they have my information on there system already. so I order a orange chicken extra spicy and beef fried rice the rice taste nasty the meat was nasty hard no flavor not even spicy they had to change the cook or owners I always order from here for past 20 yr and never had a complain about them so I call they replaced it with different meal now it was salty never again !

Disclaimer: I haven’t had the food but I think local restaurants should be judged not just on their food but impact on the community. This restaurant decided to paper my street with flyers, the majority of which ended on the ground. Yes it’s a cheap way to advertise for you but you aren’t paying the cost of cleaning up this litter. I recommend members of the community take this into account when choosing local restaurants to support.

Golden Chef is our go-to for Chinese food! Big portions, delicious food, and they always get our order exactly right. Their prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get (you can easily get two meals out of one). Great vegetarian options, too! Highly recommend the shrimp pan fried noodles and the egg drop soup. Thank you, Golden Chef!

I mess with this spot. Chinese food how I like it greasy and good. Shrimp fried rice comes filled to the top, they staple it to keep it closed yes sirrr. Two Egg rolls, and Crab Rangoon both crunchy hit it with sweet n sour sauce. Been here a few time consistently ive haven't had a miss yet.

Hands down Best Chinese restaurant in the area, and probably the best that I've ever had in my life. The staff are the friendliest. The food comes out hot (wether pick up or delivery) and there's no questioning yourself wether the beef is actually beef, or if the chickens fresh or frozen. Definitely cannot recommend Golden Chef enough!!

I really like the food from this place. The Lobster Fried Rice, the BBQ Ribs, Egg Rolls et... all great. Would give 5 stars but door dash drivers and Grub Hub are morons. Can't find addresses I have to walk a block to pick up because they can't figure how to make a left turn into a parking lot. Wish restaurants did their own deliveries.

Quality dropped a lot. I used to like them cuz their food taste fresh but now the general tso chicken is slimy. Never cared for their egg rolls or rice but the egg rolls are undercooked and shrimp bright pink with bland sticky rice. It's not the worst thing I've ever tried but I could not finish it despite my hunger

On point every visit. Healthy portions. Great bang for your buck. Mongolian Beef and Shrimp in Lobster Sauce to die for. Shrimp fresh, large and sweet. Best in neighborhood. More for your money. Stay away from Chen's, Lees, & Goo Goo's Table All overpriced. 2-3x more food for same or less money at Golden Chef!!!

If I could put 0 starts I would. There food was salty and the driver stole money from a paying customer as if it was a tip and it wasn’t. Then we call to let them know and the rather put us on hold them to find out what’s going on. Never ever will I order from them again!!!! Worst customer service ever!!

Golden Chef is bar far my favorite Chinese Food restaurant in Chicago. I have been to so many others but they are still my favorite. The flavors never vary so when I order my favorite dishes (orange chicken or egg foo young) they are guaranteed to be delicious.

Please avoid this place! I see a lot of positive reviews but NO! We ordered on Saturday and were sick by midnight...we got food poisoning so bad it's Monday and we are still sick. If I could give a half of a star I would...the delivery time was only positive.

I ordered some food for delivery and when it arrived I was beyond impressed, great food, great prices and flavorful food. The only downside is that there were no utensils which wouldn’t be a problem if I wasn’t staying at an Airbnb.
