My family has been going here for many years and we used to love it. Unfortunately the quality has gone down dramatically over the last two or three years. Tonight was an incredibly poor experience from somewhere we used to love so much and we unfortunately will never be coming back. We arrived at 10:05, 55 minutes before closing. The server didn't get around to taking our order until around 10:25, which is not a problem for us, but you could tell she wanted us out of there immediately. Extremely rude, brief, and gruff. When the food came out, the server asked if we wanted anything else, to which we replied, "No thanks, we're good." Literally less than 1 minute later, we went back to the server to say we changed our mind and wanted to just add one additional cup of French onion soup. She refused, telling us that the kitchen was now closed..... soup comes out of a big holding container, they didn't even need to make it. It was obvious she just didn't want to get the soup and wanted us to leave sooner. Finally, and by far the worst part, at 11 sharp, several of the servers started dragging the heavy wooden chairs across the floor all at the same time in an effort to make such a loud noise, so extremely loud, we couldn't even speak to one another sitting side by side. I caught the servers laughing, looking, and pointing at us while doing this, a very clear and extremely rude effort to get rid of us. If it was really that big of a deal, just ask us to leave. I don't think we've ever been treated so poorly at a restaurant in my life. The chair dragging went on for almost 10 minutes before we decided to just get the check and leave. Gourmandise used to be a jewel in the city, now it's nothing more than a money trap. Food wasn't good, desserts are definitely not even close to French, and the service was piss poor. Sad to never be coming back, but change, I suppose, is inevitable.

The place is only nice on the outside and inside, but the service is not good really, I came to eat today with my partner and it turns out that they give us the Menu totally dirty, when the waitress arrives she didn't ask us if we wanted waters or anything, She only brought two waters and left them on the table and left, but when she left I called her and asked her if she could give me a clean menu because the ones I had were dirty, and the girl only took one menu, when the three menus were dirty, and when she came back she brought me another dirty one, so I decided to order what I wanted to take away and not stay in the place because their customer service was lacking. In the photos you can see that the two menus in the photo were completely dirty, even with coffee stains, the second drinks menu, even though it was laminated, was dirty with coffee and food, so the menu is not really cleaned. And the 3rd photo is of the menu that the waitress brought back to me, it was also dirty again. Conclusion: they should improve the attention of the host in the first place, because it is that position that should make sure that the menus are really clean and in the second place the attention of the waitress who should have made sure to change my two menus for clean menus, not just take one and bring it back dirty.

I have tried this place once before but since moving to Ogden I have not had many occasions to come down to Salt Lake. I tried the passion fruit mousse, the strawberry mille fuelle, the lemon tartlet and a cannoli. Up first the passion fruit mousse: the cake part of it was so buttery smooth and delicious and the tropical flavors of the passion fruit made it a delicious melt in your mouth experience. Next the strawberry mille fuelle: the pastry on this one was harder but set off the creaminess of the filling perfectly with real strawberries spaced throughout, this was a perfect slice of goodness. The cannoli: a beautiful hard pastry shell dusted in powdered sugar with a creamy yet firm filling and delicious mini chocolate chips. The perfect addition to any meal choice. Lastly, and the one that was my first choice hands down, the lemon tartlet: a beautiful hard yet crumbly tart shell filled with the most amazing bright and punchy lemon curd I have ever had. Topped with perfect kisses of frosting and a candied lemon straw, this was definitely a great choice if you are into light crisp flavors like I am. No choice is a wrong choice, DEFINITELY check this place out as they are amazing!

I had the pleasure of dining at Gourmandise during my visit to Salt Lake City, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. As someone who finds it challenging to discover top-quality food and especially delectable desserts in America, Gourmandise certainly checked all the boxes for me. The food at Gourmandise was not just delicious; it was an absolute treat for the taste buds. The European-inspired desserts were nothing short of perfection. The passion and love that the Gourmandise team puts into their creations shines through, and I couldn't have been more satisfied. It's no wonder that Gourmandise has become Utah's most award-winning café and bakery. The only disappointment during my visit was when I attempted to return to Gourmandise on a Sunday, only to find that it was closed. I understand that businesses have their operating hours, but I couldn't help but wish I could indulge in their culinary delights once more.

The restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived at 8pm but we were seated immediately. - Kids meal - flat bread with cheese: the cheese pizza was good. It was very cheesy and the crust was crispy. It came with a bowl of grapes and a drink (chocolate milk). Perfect portion for a kid - Turtle bread pudding: when I ordered, the server asked if I want my bread pudding to be heated and I said yes. When getting my order, the server asked one more time and I said yes. However, when it arrived the bread pudding was cold. I didn't bother to ask our server again as I couldn't fetch her for some time. The bread pudding was very chocolaty & decadent. It tasted good for the first few bites but overtime, it was too sweet for me. The piece was big and it was good for sharing. Overall, the food was good but the dessert was too sweet for me. Would love to try other dessert menu when we come back.

We ate there a couple of times and the food was great! Not to mention their desserts that are even better! Very friendly and attentive staff. They have a beautiful outdoor patio where they allow dogs (thank you!). They have also some specials but the menu gives you plenty of options, included vegetarian. If you use the parking lot in the back, be careful because the spots on the left are reserved for the restaurant only in the evening. Unfortunately we got a ticket as we didn’t see the sign. Absolutely recommended for a meal or simply for a quick dessert.

Spent $70 on dinner & the only edible option was the kids pizza. I ordered the rigatoni burrata dish - the most lackluster "homemade" sausage with no seasoning, bland sauce. I didn't even eat it. The crab toast appetizer seemed to be microwaved & didn't have any crab or crab taste to it (the apple slaw was thoughtful & interesting!) My husband got the brisket grilled cheese & it was barely toasted, lacking in any kind of flavor. Extremely disappointed in the food. I've had their bakery items a few times previously & they're good. All four times I've been, I've had to ask other servers to find my server to come give me the check. Would love to know what other people are ordering to give such high reviews. Worst restaurant I've tried since moving to Salt Lake three years ago.

Memorial Day breakfast with my wife was a D+. Must have a new cook or he was in a bad mood. Restaurant was almost empty and service was okay but food was NOT GOOD. My wife ordered the breakfast burrito and the bacon in the burrito was raw. She requested some cooked bacon that came burnt on the edges. I ordered the D's breakfast sandwich and the bread on one side was toasted and the other side of the sandwich was not toasted and was soggy with butter. This was not typical of past visits. The service was okay but the morning crew seemed to have low enthusiasm and attention to customer service. I tag along with my wife to this restaurant as it's one of her favorites in SLC, but if I was lonewolf I would not stop at this restaurant. I typically do not complain; however today's visit was a fail for both of us for food quality and service. But especially for food. Very disappointing

This bakery came into our radar when someone had mentioned in the reviews the word, “divine” now little did we know we had walked into the holy grail of bread, to be specific I’m talking about the croissants… we got their almond croissant, and only way I can describe the taste. Divine… The service here wasn’t the best but I won’t knock it since it happens from time to time. Meg just never came to check if we needed water or check on us I would highly recommend you come check out this spot with friends or a date to keep it intimate! I live four hours away and if I’m ever in town I will come back!! So good I had to bring some for my family!

This place has a great variety of pastries to pick from. Most of the time, pastries are fresh and delicious, but if you're only coming to get pastries and coffee, you’re making the best decision. The food is ok, but you must have a lot of patience to come eat here; they’re always unorganized, and it takes them so long to bring your food out because most of the time they’re always busy. I recommend you get hot coffee instead of cold coffee; they usually tend to add more milk when it’s cold coffee.

Even super busy, there was staff cleaning, and people double checking each other's tables, it was awesome!! There was barely a seat available, and everyone was flocked around the desserts. Ian really made me laugh when he chuckled and commented that it looked like everyone in the family was crowding around the TV to get the best view of the show. The food was delicious, although it looked like my turkey bacon avocado panini was burned, but it was ok. Bathroom was clean and someone was cleaning it anyway. So, when we say someone was tending to the cleanliness. It is a definite priority. Ian ordered the brisket cheese sandwich and we both sampled the side of tomato basil. Superb! Rona was excellent as a hostess and server! Way to go troops!

We selected Gourmandide for our daughters wedding and they did th did an incredible job. They guess raved about the tri-tip beef and rosemary chicken. We had a small wedding cake, assorted pastries, appetizers along with the entrées and side dishes. It was served buffet style and the guests enjoyed mingling and being able to select their food choices. several guests had dietary restrictions and everyone had options. The wedding event location had a service failure of no air conditioning working, and the staff workef in high heat. They made sure that everything was served properly.. Their extra effort helped in a very difficult situation. It is truly appreciated.

I was shocked by how amazing their burger was. I went their with one of my friends, and we were planning to have brunch. When I saw that they have burger I went for it. I was really glad that I did that. Really amazing burger and the fries also tastes really nice. My friend had the eggs veggie mash. It looked amazing, but next time he will have the burger too. They have also great collection of delicious dessert. One thing I didn’t really like was the service. I wish it improves soon. The waitress give me my friend check and gave him mine, also we had to ask for the water to be refilled. The restaurant was empty, but they were busy talking to each other. Hope they improved it very soon, and I still gonna give them five stars .

Amazing food, very kind staff, beautiful and comforting environment that just adds to the experience, when I first came here I loved and enjoyed the French toast and ended up coming here again the very next day to show a friend Update: has been a couple years since my first post and I’m still coming here pretty regularly! The more things I try on the menu the more I’m impressed by the food and the quality of service here. Me and the friend I took here years ago who is now my wife ;) will continue to come here often! Thanks to everybody working here!

A little bit of France right here in Salt Lake City! I took my wife here for breakfast to celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary and it was perfect! The food, the atmosphere and the service was awesome! The crème brûlée oatmeal was delicious! I highly recommend giving that a try - delicious and filling. We were excited to try their intriguing twists on mimosas, but we were there on a Monday around 10:30am and they don’t serve alcohol until 11:30am on the weekdays - so, if you want to enjoy some drinks with your breakfast, I would suggest going on a weekend morning. Although, the restaurant was very quiet on a Monday morning which was very nice. Anyway, check this place out! It’s awesome!

Mesdames et messieurs, bienvenue au Gourmandise. Amazing vibe in heart of the Salt Lake City. Rich and satisfying menu. Awesome presentation with rich ingredients. If I own the place I would upgrade the professionalism of the service, cut the self service bakery after 3 pm. Table clothes and better silverware for the dinner and of course revise the menu because it is so cheap for that quality they offer. Just with small touches return would be amazing for that place! And of course vallet service would be awesome.

Visiting from out of state. I generally know Utah for having kind and welcoming people everywhere we go but the service at this place was rude. The hostess seemed mad when we kindly asked for a table near the window after she had offered a different spot. We didn’t see any problem with it cause it wasn’t even packed. The server was somewhat attentive with the food but still very unkind. The food was good but it didn’t make up for the terrible service. It was good trying it once for the sake of trying new food but i wouldn’t come back.

Tried several different desserts, and honestly wasn't impressed this time around. Everything was fancy, but didn't find anything I absolutely loved... its very busy! It's hard to get a seat sometimes. 3 years ago I wrote that The creme brulee was to die for. And the chocolate cake. The service is attentive and friendly. The outdoor seating is fun in the summer! Really nice! Parking can be a little tricky.**If you liked my review or found it to be helpful give it a . Thanks!

I had an absolutely fantastic dining experience here! The food was exquisite. My burger was juicy, the coleslaw was to die for, the fries sucked. They were bottom of the barrel end of the evening. My wife's butternut squash pasta was great. The noodles seemed homemade. The Brussels sprouts were Devine. The spicy pumpkin spice, chai latte was amazing. the flavors that danced on my taste buds. The service was impeccable; the staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The ambience was the cherry on top, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Five stars all the way!

Big portions of food - service a little slow We quite enjoyed our breakfast here recently on our road trip from Atlanta to Salt Lake City. The portions were large. The food was relatively good - I've had better quiche elsewhere. The service was a little slow since the server seemed to be the your personal barista too. She did make great coffee though! We ordered their pommes frites, croissant breakfast sandwich, quiche du jour and the croque madame. Everything except the quiche was very good and well presented. The service was friendly. if we lived in Utah we would definitely go back.

I don’t leave many reviews but something happens where I need to express the great customer service. I was picking up a cake for my husbands birthday. Literally, 2 seconds after the kind server handed me the cake I dropped it. They had no problem getting me a new cake even though it was clearly my fault. The servers were very kind to deal with my embarrassment. We love it here and the customer service is the best.

Thier pastries were amazing. People always recommend the macaroons so I tried them and wow, they do live up to the hype. I also tried a hazelnut cheesecake and it was wonderful as well. For dinner I had a French dip. I thought I would like the onion jam but it was a little overpowering so I took it off. The chips they serve with the french dip are top tier. I probably won't come here for dinner again but I will come here for pastries.

This cute little brunch location is a great place for a small meal. The workers were very friendly and the food came out quick. We had the panini and the grilled cheese which tasted fantastic, alongside the tomato soup. The grilled cheese is made also with blueberries, which is a pretty obscure taste, but it tasted so good! We skipped dessert, but there are a plethora of choices from the bakery section. I hope to come back and try it!

It’s delicious. We ordered the Greek salad and the salmon De croute. The salmon was moist and in a French pastry. It came with a side of delicious and decorative mashed potatoes. The green grains and Greek salad had chickpeas, feta, tomatoes, olives, cucumber and fried cheese balls. So yum! The atmosphere is casual and comfortable. We didn’t get pastries but they look delicious and authentically French. The cheese balls and dressing have a little kick of spice.

As if the dessert cases weren’t enough to tempt me, they have a Monte Cristo sandwich, which is a weakness. Their nutty and fruity bread is crunchy and refreshing with the sweet cranberries. The accompanying pickle gives your palate a tangy refresher when needed after the rich meat and cheese. It was also very filling, which made it difficult to finish my French onion soup. We will definitely return.

I absolutely love this place. Its embodys the spirit of Parisian Bistro. Great food but don't expect a large selection of main course dishes. if you come for dinner do you have a choice of lots of salads or sandwiches and only three or four main dishes. But they are amazing. It's always local seasonal supplies vegetables and meats. So it's different every time you come. But it cooked to absolute perfection. And if you have a sweet tooth, well you're a big surprise. This place have absolutely the best pastries outside of a Paris.

  • Ellen Morris

Amazing pastries!!! And I do not say that lightly. The chocolate croissant was perfectly warm, slightly melted chocolate, flaky, and buttery. I also had the ham and gruyere and wowow the cheese and ham were perfect and again it was flaky, buttery, and warm. I can’t wait to go back and try other pastries and breakfast menu items. Great ambiance as well. The restaurant is charming and parking is convenient and plentiful despite its downtown location.

I purchased a Kouign-amann based on the reviews but it was inedible. It was still raw and so undercooked I wasn’t able to eat it. There was raw dough in the middle and a big lump of hard sugar that was obviously meant to have melted and soaked through. But it was raw so was just a hard lump of sugar in a ball of dough. I threw it out and went to Eva’s instead. Their Kouign-amann was delicious. Very disappointing.

Been here multiple times, mostly for the pastries but also have come for dining here. The pastries are absolutely divine. So many to pick from, and they don't disappoint! When eating hear, the food was great. The server did forget to bring out our wine, but it ended up being okay and they apologized for the mistake. Otherwise the service was excellent. I was looking to buy an assortment of individual dessert pieces, as I was visiting some friends for dinner at their home. The price was about $5-6 per piece, if I recall correctly. Gourmandise is DIVINE — the French Country Stew was out of this world!! The flavors were so comforting. I ordered a baguette to go with it and I have zero regrets! It had the softest crust and the most perfect flavor. Everyone I was with raves about their own dishes, and we got plenty of pastries to go! Our waitress was very efficient and competent as well.

This may be our favorite restaurant in Salt Lake City! Everything we’ve ever ordered has been amazing, and the atmosphere is a lot of fun! The food is all reasonably priced for the quality. The only caution I would offer is about the cheesecake; it’s not bad, but it doesn’t compare to a lot of other places.

Good food and desserts, but lunch menu was incorrect with pricing. I ordered a sandwich and it stated on the menu to add a cup of soup was $3.20, but when I got the bill it was $4.80. I asked why it was more than listed and they said it was because I got the French onion soup - no where did it state it was more - it just said soup additional $3.20 with no specifics. Miss leading.

What a cute, quaint little bakery and restaurant. Scale 1 to 10 Ambiance - 8 - quaint. Ideal outside eating. Cleanliness - 9 - everything clean Service - 9 excellent service (only reason for the 9 is that coffee was spilled all over our table. Just a mistake - it was no big deal.) Food - 9 - great food - we got the Berry French toast. Probably one of the best French toasts I’ve eaten. There is a little bakery inside there as well.

Excellent eatery in downtown SLC. The restaurant is picturesque and the staff are so nice! The Strawberry Mint drink was one of the bests that I’ve had. Gourmandise is our go to here in Salt Lake City for desserts and yummy breakfast! We always have a great experience and I have never had a bad pastry(trust me, we’ve tried lots of them). My avocado toast and chips were delicious and the tiramisu is to die for. The cannoli, tarts, and coffee drinks are all delicious. The staff is always so friendly and knowledgeable. We had not had a great start to our trip... we came from Texas where we like alot of flavor and this was our last meal in Utah. This place gave us wonderful memories and a wonderful experience. The staff was so sweet. That is hard to come by these days. We were more than satisfied with everything we ate. If we lived in town this would most definitely be our date spot. Thank you for a wonderful end to our trip!

  • Taylor Moody

This was a nice spot to grab some coffee and dessert. It does feel rather impersonal and I sat for a long time waiting for someone to take my order. The server was nice, and the dessert was pretty good. Not the best place I’ve been but nice enough! The rum baba and chocolate chip cannoli were both tasty and the cappuccino was decent.

Phenomenal! The food was so fresh and the croissants were so buttery and flakey. The drinks were also so smooth and creamy. I cannot wait to come back and visit again<3

Gourmet indeed! Had breakfast with my wife here and it was delicious and well presented. Our excellent server brought us avocado toast on gluten free bread, and gluten free oatmeal creme brulee, and it was fabulous. The pastries in the display case looked so inviting, so we tried a gluten free almond horn and (no surprise) it was yummy! Another solid gluten free choice in Salt Lake City. HIGHLY recommended

This is our go-to for breakfast when we go to SLC. My wife loves their fruit tarts and tiramisu, and I love their ham and cheese croissants, and especially their peach pastry with custard center! Incredible and unlike anything anywhere else! Parking can be a little tricky when it's busy, but that's typical anywhere downtown.

I truly enjoyed my afternoon lunch at Goirmandies. A French inspired menu and decor. Had half a sandwich of the Turkey and avocado with a cup of anions soup. The soup was delicious and full of flavor. The sandwich even for a half portion was big and filling and cost $14. Plenty of seating inside with a bakery and friendly staff.

Service here is phenomenal, it’s like being treated at an expensive restaurant without the expensive part. I got a classic alfredo which was delicious and afterwards ordered a passion fruit cake slice (we also got a raspberry fruit cake slice) and it personally wasn’t my favorite but good nonetheless! Great French cafe that isn’t like anywhere else!

Food is amazing: breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just desserts. This place has never disappointed. It is loud and crowded pretty frequently however which is the only downside, but still good enough to go back.

Absolutely loved Gourmandise! The food was delicious and well priced, the service was quick and careful and the pastries were very good! We got the tri tip and the brisket grilled cheese and both had us wanting more. We will definitely come back!

We really enjoy the food. Tonight, the service was off. We waited almost 15 minutes before a sever came to take our order, and she never refilled our drinks. Dessert is a must here.

You can not not visit this place if you’re a dessert person. Wide variety of options to satiate your sweet tooth! Love their macarons and chocolate decadent specially. Lunch and dinner options are also very delicious though the quantity served wouldn’t necessarily be enough for one person.

Yumiest family friendly sweet spot downtown! (We've been here and the Draper location multiple times). The desserts are decadent, beautiful, and well crafted. Prices are decent, especially on the entrees and drinks, the menu is delightful! Our server was the best (wish I caught her name) and we left satisfied! Thank you for the great experience yet again!!!!

  • Gwen Fisher

Went in for a hot chocolate because we were told it was good and real hot chocolate. It's not. It is water based powdered cocoa with whipped cream. We'll go back another time for pastries or food to see if I can increase my stars. Was bummed that it won't be our go to Hot Chocolate place since it's closer to home.

Triple chocolate mousse was excellent, Eclair was dry, avocado turkey panini was fabulous, G's grilled cheese had to much mustard, brisket grilled cheese was moist on the side with the pickled onions, dry on the side without.

The food always rocks. I love this place, it never disappoints. The desserts are beautiful and taste amazing. A few of the desserts are not to my liking. Some look better than they taste. We will continue going back to try everything on the menu and all of the desserts. Thank you for being in SLC!!

I really like this place, but this time the cakes I tried I didn’t like too much. The red velvet was just white chocolate; I couldn’t feel the chocolate flavor in the red part. The tiramisu wasn’t sweet The fruit tart at Smith’s tastes better. I really love the passion fruit mousse, but this time I tried something different and it didn’t work out.

  • Juan Magana

Love the deserts but it seems that some of their food is taking a hit. We had the steak medallions and those were ok, both of the pasta dishes were also average. The curry salad sandwich was actually good and definitely recommend the frites and brussels sprouts.

Delicious! Great customer service, fast, and they were so friendly. The pastries and cakes were amazing, and I couldn’t help but take two home with me. I felt welcomed in this restaurant with my boyfriend and they seemed excited to have us dining with them. I will be returning with friends for sure!

  • Farhan Nasrullah

Arguably one of the best bakery spots in SLC. They make the best cakes and pastries, hands down! Good spot for dessert, brunch or lunch as well. The restaurant has a French influence on their food, which you can easily spot on the menu. I found their service to be very customer centric too!

When you're paying $20 for an entree, it shouldn't arrive at your table in 3 minutes and be cold. It's expensive cafeteria food. I emailed them about another brunch food issue, but they did nothing "to make it right" so I'm leaving a two star review. They've lost my business forever. :(

Came here for lunch and food was great, came back the next day to try a bunch of deserts and the cheesecake and chocolate mousse (both GF) were our faves! Carrot cake was a little dry but lots of great options, will be back every time I’m in town!

  • Bri Slaughter

Kind staff, excellent dessert, decent entree dishes. Their pasta was a little bland, my burger was slightly over cooked, but we really came for the cheesecake and macarons after our meal. The Brussels sprouts are to DIE for, though!

  • Kat RK

It’s a hit and miss at this place. We have good and bad experiences. The fries that was served to us tasted reheated and soggy. The desserts are delectable and tasted freshly baked/made. We love trying different pastries here.

  • Martins Vincent

Their pastries and sweets are like edible art – so delicate and delicious. It's the kind of place where you can't help but "ooh" and "ahh" over every treat in the display.

Best French food in Utah. Their food is amazing! They have a wide variety of pastries and cakes. If you want to get something specific like a quiche to take home it’s best to go early in the morning because they go quick.

  • Vivi Sasaki

Very disappointed with the dishes and dessert. The saumon en croute was the only dish that was good. The onion soup was too salty and the carrot cake was too sweet. Great presentation but disappointing taste.

  • Deana McMillan
