I love Vosen’s! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff, cheery convo when you order, never make you feel rushed. They’ll explain about any of their bakery or menu items gladly. Wonderful pastries, great coffee drinks, super delicious sandwiches—turkey avocado, Reuben and chipotle roast beef are my favorites, and they’ll happily customize it for you with added cheese, bacon or avocado. The stand-out pastries are the Bienenstich, a thin layer of cake with a whipped custard filling and a crunchy carmelized nut topping(enough to share), the marzipan twist, chocolate croissant and the strudels. I’ve never had any pastry here which wasn’t fresh, delicious, and large enough to share. The breakfast sandwiches are really good and can be made without the roll or croissant if you’re GF. Plus they stock a wild variety of European candies, gourmet items, pastas, and doughs you can take and bake at home. Their prices are very affordable and you’ll often see families enjoying a pastry and coffee with their little ones while the parents get their coffee break, relaxed, happy, and totally enjoyable. I’ve even been in right before they closed, and was told to sit and enjoy my food while they attended to their closing duties. This is a wonderful neighborhood place, with great deals on their ‘day-old-bakery’ items that taste just as fresh as the counter items, plus they donate unsold bread to the food bank, so another plus. Come for lunch or breakfast, get a pastry and coffee, take some hazelnut bread home…you will be so glad you stopped by.

Delicious German bakery with a huge assortment of baked goods, sandwiches, breakfast, coffee/coffee drinks, and market goods. We stopped in in the morning to pick up some pastries and coffee. They have a full selection of baked goods, including German-style donuts, crostini's, croissants, and bagels. They also have a full selection of fresh baked breads. We got a maple donut, raspberry donut, coffees, and a cherry strusel. The donuts were flakey and chewy and fluffy and so good. They have a classic custard filling with various flavors on top (like the maple) or top and inside (raspberry/other fruits). The maple wasn't artificial tasting and had a light cinnamon sugar topping on it as well. It was one of the best donuts I've ever had. The custard filling is tasty and a perfect ratio to the donut dough. My partner's raspberry one was also custard filled, with additional raspberry filling. The coffees were a nice break from the hotel coffee, delicious, fresh, and great tasting. The cherry strusel was also delicious, especially warmed up. The cherry filling had whole sour cherries and didn't taste like it was simply out of a can. The topping was crumbly, buttery, and delicious. Highly recommend stopping in. Theres also a full market with German/Swiss/European goods along with "day-old breads" that came at a steep discount. The shop was busy with locals, always a good sign in the morning during the work week. The woman working the counter was polite, efficient, and helpful. 5/5

I appreciated the friendly employees. There is a HUGE selection of all things German. Coffee, Teas, etc. However I was disappointed in the bakery selections of cakes. The poppy seed cake I had to throw out..it tasted horrible. None of the cakes/struedels seemed even close to the real German tasting ones, with the exception of the one 'cake' that had a honey with almond topping and a delicious creamy (just like in Germany) filling. However I had to remove the topping as it's very hard and therefor I could not eat this piece of 'cake' with a fork for bite size servings. Being from Germany, I think my expectations might be to high but I do recommend this place for it does have many many German items. Parking was very easy just near the Bakery and in front of it as well. Several days later, I did revisit Vosen's again and just as before the counter girls were very friendly and helpful. I happen to tell them of the poppy seed cakes that I threw out and they gave me several items in compensation that was truly appreciated. I will continue to visit this Bakery as long as I'm in the SLC area. Because of their sincere apology I gave them five stars from my previous 3.

This is such a great place! It's very close to the true German experience. it's fairly accessible, with a ramp outside. I did not use the bathroom so I can't speak to that accessibility. The people who work there are helpful, friendly, attentive and kind. I enjoyed the whole experience even though I can't eat any of it. I bought treats for my partner who's German and missing home. They make her so happy. She lights up and I can watch the food melt into her mouth. It looks incredible. I'll include pictures. I can't personally attest to the taste or quality of the food but the place is fantastic and has brought some joy to a very sad and lonely soul so I'm very happy Vosen's exists. They also have an area full of prepackaged German treats and a place you can eat a nice sandwich and a pastry. I'll add more details next time.

Food is amazing IF it's fresh! I went on a Thursday morning at around 8 am and some of the baked goods were stale! I understand saving food from the previous day but, it should be labeled and discounted, it really feels disingenuous! Otherwise it was very good. Some of the important items are very expensive so just beware before purchasing some goods. Coffee is also pretty bitter even for a cappuccino. Some prefer it that way, however I do not. That being said I would still return!

Great bakery! The setup is a little tight for waiting in line and my visit took longer than I had expected. That, however was not the fault of the staff or service. The staff was so nice that old ladies who wanted to visit while buying their rolls were treated very kindly and were accommodated. Even though I was in a hurry I was so happy to see people treating people like people. The staff made eye contact and spoke respectfully, they were helpful and fast once it was my turn. The bread is phenomenal and fairly priced. I needed bread bowls and the order ahead was easy. This is a place I look forward to visiting again! The gingerbread cookies and German doughnuts I impulse bought were subpar in my opinion but the bread is something I will seek out again!

I ordered pastries delivered on a Sunday. I did not realize that all of their pastries on Sunday were baked on Saturday. They certainly tasted more than a day old. At least 2 items were not the flavor I had ordered. Maybe they were out of my first choice, but I received no notice of this. One item had apricot and one had peach filling. Both tasted like some kind of jello- jelly combination that was too sweet and the texture was gross. The cronut style pastry was the only one I ate and the maple icing was awfully sweet. (I had asked for the chocolate, not maple). I threw the rest away. I had always been told that their food looks good, but is not. I wanted to give them a try, but it was very disappointing and I would not go there again.

Sandwiches are delicious, and pastries are AMAZING. I've had the turkey avocado sandwich and the veggie sandwich. I don't even really like sandwiches all that much, but theirs are so flavorful, with a good hearty texture. They also have a great selection of imported European goods, including lots of Kinder, Milka, and Ritter Sport chocolates. Service has been speedy when I visit. Prices are reasonable. The one star off is because of the pitiful variety of options for the soda+chips upgrade. They have three different cans of soda to choose from, and two different chip options, and that's it. There are a couple parking spots reserved for Vosen's customers, in the lot just west of the building, so you don't have to park on the street.

  • Jim C

Nice selection or Rittersport chocolate bars (gets them 1 star) @ 100% markup to high retail. Don’t bother going in after 5 pm - so even though they had bagels, the couldn’t make anything with them b/c they’ve “turned off their oven b/c they’re closing soon…” (like an hour later). Staff were inattentive & rude - don’t bother stopping unless you like to pay for parking & be condescended to by staff after being ignored by them, while you’re the only person in front of them. There are many other BETTER bakeries (Tulie) close by that are actually GRATEFUL for your business. This place doesn’t deserve a look from you - nothing to see here; head to either one of Tulie’s locations close by - you’ll be glad that you did!

Maybe it was the day or the time (just after opening Friday morning) but this one was an average stop for me for. I was super excited too but unfortunately this one was an average for me. Some good options but not a must hit for me. I'll keep looking We tried a bunch of stuff too. The Berlin (German doughnut) as the highlight. I'd give the Berlin a near 5. It was soft and the perfect texture. The chocolate croissant was also above average. The struessel, croissant, Danish were all average. I don't rate on the service but it was a 5. The location was surprisingly cozy and I'd give it a 4+.

Vosen's is the place to go for a small non US don't type of place. This is more European style bakery. They have German style sweets and perfect bread. Oh the bread, holy cow, the bread is amazing. Ask them to toast and bread or roll, there's heaven.

I grabbed an assortment of pastries to enjoy on a lovely autumn day with friends and I can't decide which I enjoyed more. It's not often that you can say that everything you ate was delicious. The Bienenstich would count as dessert and a little went a long way to satisfying our taste buds. The Marzipan/Almond Mini Danish was also a big hit. I loved the raspberry Croiliner (their version of a cronut) and the blueberry sweet loaf had a perfectly moist and bouncy crumb. It really is a bread paradise! To make it even better, the staff is knowledgeable and warm, and the samples are generous.

You know, every time I’ve come here for mostly little things the service has always been amazing. This morning (2/2/22) I came in with the urge for a sandwich and coffee but so did about 7 other people. It’s not a large place but the women at the register just took everyone’s order politely and let us know it’s just her so sandwiches may be a bit. She was still so nice, so calm and even cracking jokes as that bell kept ringing letting her know more people were coming in to order. Thanks Vosens and I hope she gets paid a comfortable, livable wage cause she definitely deserves it!

  • Claus

I loved this bakery. Great location, products are really identical to German products. Prices are also close to German pricing (way lower than in America). Today, I went again and first there was nobody taking care of customers. When I asked the same thing I always ask: "3 rolls with butter and marmalade", the sales associate did not understand after several attempts. I thought she might be German and have a hard time understanding so I kindly asked whether she spoke German. Very rude answer with a attitude was: we speak English here. I left

  • Shawn Hart

The sandwiches and pastries here are excellent! I've never had a meal I didn't like (the Reuben and the Italian sandwiches are a couple of my favorite sandwiches out there). The one complaint I have with Vosen's is that the service can often be pretty slow. They typically only have 2 people working and sometimes only one person running the whole place during the lunch hour. So if you need a quick bite, you'll likely need to choose something else, but if you've got time to enjoy a tasty and leisurely lunch, this place is great!

  • A Lauren

I am so sorry, I like supporting local establishments. But, the $2.99 chocolate chip cookie is not baked through, raw/doughy and not edible, in my opinion. The turkey, bacon, avocado is worse. The avocado is a cheap spread, not real avocados, and the turkey did not look fresh. I got it without bacon. The bread was soggy inside. So, I am not sure if they are made ahead of time and sit in a fridge, until ordered? Anyway, I threw all my food away and did not eat one bite. I hope others have a better experience.

I was born and raised in Germany. That's why I like to stop by when I'm in the area, to pick up some nostalgia. Fresh pastries German style fit the bill, and I enjoy them every time. Not top quality, but the upgrade to the coffee shop with sitting area was nice. Friendly staff. Came back recently and was not disappointed with the berliners. Tried to teach some customers how to pronounce "Plunderschnecke" . Yeah, it would be great if the staff spoke some German. Get European sweets or Löwensenf!

  • Laminated Weasel

Was quite excited to visit a location with German pastries as it’s sort of a specialty shop but did leave a bit disappointed. We came to find some unique pretzels, but none were available. The choices for pastries were surprisingly somewhat limited, but may be forgivable based on us possibly arriving between bakes if it had been a busy day. We got several they did have available, but we weren’t very impressed with any. It as an interesting experience, but I’m not sure we’d stop by again.

  • Adventures of Jen & Dean

This place is incredible! The bread is baked fresh daily and the pastry case has the most mouth watering delicacies imaginable. The young lady running the place couldn’t have been any kinder as she answered all our questions about all the choices. Anytime we’re in the valley, this is on our don’t miss spot and we’ve recently discovered their panini bread is stocked at Whole Foods by us and well, our sandwiches just got top notch! We’re lucky to have this gem of a bakery in Utah. Yuuuuum!

  • Elicia Cheney

Delicious! A gem of a place for anyone who loves European-style baked goods. I've had their bread, pretzels, and an assortment of their pastries and everything has been amazing. My favorites are the cinnamon roll (with walnuts!) and the chocolate croissant. Very friendly, kind staff as well. Plus all sorts of imported chocolates, jams, pastas, teas, etc. from Europe. So. Good. If you can eat gluten, go there! (And if you can't, they at least have some yummy gf Brazilian cheese bread.)

  • Vocaloid_Victrix

The breakfast sandwiches and drinks are to die for here, and they have so many imported German goods - candies, chocolate, Müsli, canned fish, pickles, pickled beets, jams, etc. You can get many different types of fresh bread here, and they have both warm and cold pastries. This is a great place to get a bagel and coffee. They have all sorts of streusel, and they have Mohnkuchen as well! (Interestingly enough, they also serve a Brazilian cheese pastry.) Stop by here in the morning!

  • Karlee Addison

Absolutely wonderful place. From the sandwiches to the pastries to the treats - it's all fantastic. Anything you order here will be amazing. Take a moment and check this gem out!! The staff is always super friendly and will ensure you leave happy!

Had lunch there yesterday. Soup and sandwich were good. Had Kirschstreusel for dessert and it was very hard. Not impressed . Bought Krustenbrot which was very good. Also bought regular Brezen which tasted old and stale. Table was not clean but was wiped after we asked for it . Though the rag must have been super wet, since I ended up with a wet bottom and hands. All in all it was okay. Brought a raspberry Berliner back to my FIL and he said they were really good.

  • Caroline K

This is a great little spot! Delicious turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich and also tried a German pretzel on a whim. On Sundays, they use up bread that is baked Saturday, but it still tasted fresh. Also, the server gave me and several other customers each a bag of free day-old rolls. I also had an iced s’mores mocha which was very good (not too sweet, strong coffee). And I love it was offered in a 12 oz size since I didn’t want a huge coffee. Highly recommend!

  • Datner Diaz

It was a pleasure working for them management Is great understanding but still stern never talked down to me and you're always rewarded for working hard. The owners are great very nice. Seeing all the pastries and muffins how there made from scratch. The coworkers are great you always know it's safe to eat because a specific worker takes pride In cleaning all the fruits and veggies. It was such a pleasure working for them and meeting great ppl

  • Brian Reina

Having lived in Munich, I have been missing the amazing bakeries of Europe. I can easily say this is the absolute best German (and European in general) bakery in not just Salt Lake but anywhere I’ve been in the U.S. A great place to get fresh bread, fantastic pastries, great coffee and sandwiches! There’s also a good amount of European goods stacked on the shelves around the store like a small supermarket. Super friendly staff as well!

  • Aaron Schinke

A little slice of heaven in downtown SLC. I live near by and stop in regularly for a comforting drink. I highly recommend an pistachio honey latte with oat milk with some ground cinnamon. It’s the bees knees. You can’t go wrong with any of their amazing pastries - whether savory or sweet. The four cheese panini with some of their tomato bisque will warm your soul. Lastly, their staff is incredibly friendly, kind, helpful and diverse!

  • Kathleen Parker

Amazing! The store was well stocked, the one person who was working today had a lovely smile and attitude, she was efficient and friendly, taking the time to acknowledge and explain to everyone when they had questions. What a lovely experience. We live a state away, but stop every time we are in Salt Lake ;) hopefully this icon survives these I unprecedented times ;) see you soon- great coffee and pastries, bought bread to take home.

  • Claudia D

I was recommended this place from a friend and expected it to be decent. The food was mediocre and didn’t include egg in a bacon egg and cheese bagel. Also, they CHARGED for Sink water!!!! Unbelievable. Response: I understand your trying to discredit us but we did not get tea and my partner and I both noticed the bottle water charge on our order. The menu clearly states it comes with egg and we were not provided that either.

  • Danielle Lesch

Tried this place with 3 other people for a quick breakfast. I ordered the chocolate caroline, raspberry German donut, and a cinnamon roll. They were great. Visually all the bakery items looked fresh and a good selection. This store also sells delicacies from Germany. The service was friendly and since we were buying for multiple people they gave us a couple free bakery items. I'll definitely be back for my next visit.

  • Sana

I recently visited Germany and became obsessed with their poppy seed pastries and my friend found them here at Vosen’s! We enjoyed a delicious brunch here and tried their ham quiche and Parmesan bread which were both delicious! They also have authentic German desserts and pastries that are made fresh daily. They have a market inside as well that is packed with popular German snacks and treats!

  • Matthew

**********It's the service for me. Channy was very friendly and personable . She offered her recommendations and boy did it deliver. Cute local place with a quality product. Has a place to even sit outside and enjoy a few rays of sunshine of you choose also. The large pretzels there were amazing also. I enjoyed my first experience and will gladly be back to try more products...

I ordered 2- ham & cheese crossiants, 2-Italian cheese rolls & 1 raspberry & creamer crossiant/donut to go. The ham & cheese were delicious when warmed up at home, we tore up the rolls as dipping bread with olive oil & seasoning and was great. The pricing is very reasonable and the staff was great. I would highly recommend it if you are near downtown SLC.

  • Kimberly Moysh

We arrived early hoping for fresh pastries. We were super disappointed. Everything we tried was dry, and did not taste fresh. However, we did order an Italian cheese roll and that was delicious. The employees were nice. I gave this 2 stars which I feel like is generous considering the overall experience of the food. Would not order their pastries again.

Having lived in Germany and enjoyed bakeries often, Vosen's is like returning without the plane ticket. The recipes are right, the consistency is correct, and the flavors are awesome. Everything was perfect and the service excellent. If you have not been to Vosen's you need to go! Like right now. Well, when they're open. You will be pleased.

  • David Abbott

Delicious. I'm blown away by the quality of their sandwiches. We ordered a simple turkey BLT and a pesto avocado. Both were fantastic. They were on a seven grain and ciabatta, respectively. So soft, so joyous, so fun. The staff was very helpful at describing the pastries. The plunderschneke and Berliner made for a lovely post lunch dessert.

  • Justin Young

I love the feel of the shop and about half of what we ordered(all pasteries). The items were definitely not fresh and we needed to heat them up to eat them. Also, we didn't get to taste the cronuts as they were sold out. This may be one of those only eat right out of the oven kind of bakeries. I must say that the staff were great and fun.

  • Thomas Rauch

Vosen's came highly recommended by some local friends, and it did not disappoint! Classic donuts and delicious breakfast sandwiches in a small cafe with coffee made this a great spot to start the day and catch up with a colleague. Service was fast and both eat in and take out worked well. I will definitely come back next time I'm in SLC.

  • Keri González

We love this place. We just would love that they would be more environmentally conscious and wrap up their sandwiches in paper, and their soups in eco friendly containers. I think we would come more often, because we feel guilty about all the plastic waste we create by eating here and in other places that use a lot of plastic. Thanks.

  • Rachel B

I really enjoyed my drink, but I asked for a vegan sandwich and there was cheese on it, so vegans be warned this may not be the stop for you. Otherwise really good, friendly people, I don’t want to speak badly of a small business trying their best so upped the review from 3 to 4 stars, if you’re not vegan I’m sure it would be great!

  • Kurt McCullough

Back again. 6/29/20. 2000 miles is a long way to go for a Cronut. But here we are once again.. We airmail Cronuts from NYC to South Padre Island. 7 hours maybe from the NYC to my doorstep. I'd rather drive to the SLC for my baked goods.Yes thats a bold statement but your Cronuts walk the walk. We'll be back.. Plotted. Scouts Out.

  • David Marquardt

If you’re looking for a sandwich keeping walking to Caputo’s. But if you’re in the market for a pastry this is the place. There is clearly some real German influence here, the pastries are the same ones you’d find in Munich. Plus, I love the selection of other German goods in the store (Gerolsteiner is the best water on earth).

  • Josh Watts

Vosens bread is absolutely delicious. I love coming here whenever I am in town. Their pastries are full of flavor and there is lots of different types to choose from. All of the staff are friendly and there is a good selection of on sale items for those of who are budget conscious. I will definitely be back again in the future!

  • Anna Strickland

We wandered into Vosen's the first morning in SLC looking for coffee and breakfast, and we ended up coming here for breakfast every morning during our stay. The staff are extraordinarily nice, the coffee is great, and so are the German pastries. It's also a small German grocery store. I wish we had a place like this back home!

  • Molly Monsey

Love this place, highly recommend. When we visited recently it was a Sunday and they relieved the bakers from working so everything was from Saturday - but still very good! And they give you a little extra snack for coming in on Sundays as well. We also love all the imported goods from Germany, The Netherlands, Austria, etc!

  • Joel Rash

Received a package that was sent to us, box smashed (used an old coffee filter box to ship it in). Product was not sealed just open bread pastries in a box...stale, dried out, un edible. Asked them to refund the sender...wouldn't recommend ordering product that has to travel from this company. Threw it in the trash.

  • Karen Witkowski

This place is incredible! I ordered a breakfast sandwich (ham, Swiss, and egg on a jalapeños cheddar bagel) and a cup of coffee. They threw in a homemade pastry on the house. Bagel sandwich was 10/10, will be dreaming about their food until my next visit. Great job and customer service all around! Thank you Vosen's!

This is my favorite place in Salt Lake City! Everyone is always incredibly kind, helpful and thoughtful. Not to mention these are the best baked goods you’ll ever find. They have so many delicious options, and it’s so much fun to try new foods. I’ve been told that it just “tastes German” 10/10 recommend to anyone

I absolutely love this bakery!! Their pastries are second to none! Always a treat. My all time favorite item from there has to still be the Brotchens. Gotta try them if you are a fan of hard rolls. They are hands down the best in the valley, prove me wrong if you can …

All I can say is wow. Our last day in SLC and figured we’d already hit up the best places.. saved the best for last I guess. The coffee is amazing and the food is delicious- got a mocha iced coffee and BEC on an everything bagel. Highly recommend checking it out

  • A. Myrup

I wish I could give a better rating. But I'm really disappointed. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel and Pretzel and they were both dry. And my coworker ordered the turkey sandwich. We both got sick too ordering completely different menu items...

Came in out of curiosity. Best pesto chicken sandwich I've ever had. Tried a few of the pastries and they are absolutely delicious and just enough sweetness that it's enjoyable. I will be a forever customer and In time I will try everything on the menu.

I love Vosen's. Always a great experience, the team there is delightful. Pastries are 'big city' good. Breakfast and lunch fair is worthwhile. Very good selection of fun German imports - my favorites being the liquor filled chocolates. Great place!

  • Harold Ballinger (SparkleCityHop)

Wow. Just wow. Great food, coke in glass bottles from real cane sugar, great service, and I love their taste in music too. When I eat lunch here, I feel like I've just supercharged myself for a day of conquering whatever the day has to throw at me!

Coffee was American but excellent. It was fun to find a German bakery in town while traveling. I got their Berliners (jelly donuts), which my grandfather would have called fauschnauts. They were excellent; get both the raspberry and apricot ones.

  • Jojo Black

Great variety of Ritter sport chocolate bars you can't find in person hardly anywhere in the states! I've also never ever been disappointed by any of their pastries, baked goods, or drinks. Friendly staff, small location, but excellent bakery

  • Benjamin Heidfeld

We got some delicious breakfast sandwiches served by friendly people. Lots of delicious baked goods available here. Also they have a selection of German groceries here so we bought things to make our dinner a little more authentically German.

  • Michelle Hansen

Thank you so much! We tried the marzipan braided pastry, chocolate pastry and another with cream cheese and another with custard. Delicious! We also shopped their market and I am so excited to try out the food we bought plus the rye bread!

  • Peaches n Moonbeams

Not worth returning, the bagels were dry and not just toasted. Ive had quality bread and there is a difference. For most people im sure its fine but i think this place makes it out to be better than it is for true quality breads.

  • Craig Woodworth

My 2nd time visiting SLC and it's never complete without stopping at Vosen's. The pastries including the Raspberry Berliner are a must. Their sandwiches are always a great choice. You cannot go wrong with any of their options.

  • Jim Williams

New location. Still quality baked goods. Coffee shop in store. I am not so sure how truly German the Bakery is... the staff does not seem to be German. Staff was quite helpful and easy to work with. Worth returning.

  • Rodney Boynton

If you need a pretzel, pretzel roll, or good piece of rye, THIS is the place. Brigham Young would have approved!!! Oh, and also a good place to stop while on a morning bike ride. Support your local bakery people!!!

As me being from Wyoming and we don't have places like this so this place was a treasure and the ladies were sweet and very helpful! There is something for everyone here including the kids! Please check them out!!

Great croissants and pastries. A little more airy and dry, not as buttery as I'm used to. Fun fillings. Good on the go. Coffee was just okay, but I'd go again and again for the Boston Cream style cronut. …

I usually go for the pastries, which are divine, but the grocery section is also nice because they carry authentic German items. Parking is iffy, but usually you can find parking within an easy 5 minute walk.

Best Rye Bread for your Pastrami and Reuben sandwiches. They have a good selection of Scandinavian delights as well. The staff was friendly and super helpful with the questions we had about their items.

Good pastries and breakfast sandwiches. The berliners seemed a little stale both times, but the cream cheese pastry was pretty good. Nothing super special about the breakfast sandwiches, but tasty.

Staff are always friendly, bread is delicious, and there's always a good selection of imported European snacks. Definitely a bit pricey, but that's expected of imported goods.

Our pastries were soggy and the bagel on the breakfast sandwich was not chewy and bagel-like at all. Just sandwich bread in the round shape of a bagel.

Amazing bakery. While I haven't frequented many German bakeries while I was in Europe, I did in England and Spain. Vosen's is authentic and delicious.
