Make no mistake, God is at work at Grace Church in a powerful and wonderful way. My wife and I have been so incredibly blessed from the first day we started coming last September and every single week since then. I've been a Christian since I was introduced to Jesus in 1992 in a tiny church in Zimbabwe and clearly felt the love of God come into my heart despite my agnostic background and a deep sense of alienation and loneliness. We've experienced God's love and spiritual growth in many faith communities since then, but our experience at Grace San Diego has been on a different level. There is a verse in the Old Testament book of Isaiah the Prophet that expresses perfectly what we are feeling -- "Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert” (Isaiah 43:19). To be clear, we were not coming out of some horrible life crisis, we have tried to be faithful disciples of Jesus for all these years, have served in the church, and I've been a professor in Christian higher education for 26 years, but we have had such a powerful sense that God is at work in us and in our faith community that is changing and growing us. We have invited some of our dearest friends to come and they have have also been drawn here. Some of the distinctives of Grace that I want to share are: (1) the worship is spirit-led, not a performance for the congregation but a moving of God's spirit among the band and congregation that often moves me to tears; (2) the message is amazing, outstanding, incomparable, I cannot think of enough superlatives, I've never heard such true and powerful and bold preaching and teaching - by all three of the pastors - Josh is the lead pastor and preaches more often but they share preaching duties and we are captivated every time by how God speaks directly to each of us; (3) house church is the means for staying connected with others during the week, and Grace has house churches meeting throughout San Diego and throughout the week -- no one has any excuse for saying that they did not have the opportunity to connect with others and to feel welcomed and valued; (4) the opportunities to serve are amazing -- I had never been asked HOW I would like to serve until I came to Grace -- and not only that but there is the expectation that if you are a serious Christian you will want to serve, and it's true. And there are so many ways to serve, something for everyone; and (5) this church is dead serious about being on mission for Jesus every day and in every aspect of the church, it is all about following God's design for his church, and getting back to the ethos and conviction of the early church. The leadership is so intentional about ensuring that they are following God's plan and not their own. A couple of other things that I would say about this church: (1) If you are looking for a church that is going to affirm YOUR politics, values, and lifestyle, you just might be disappointed with Grace, because they are all about seeking and being obedient to God's plan, God's design, and God's righteousness. If you're not interested in God's design, then this is not the church for you -- you should find another church that will tell you what you want to hear. This is one place that you will be challenged, because God expects his followers to take him seriously. (2) The leadership (the pastors and all the staff) are humble, approachable, and incredibly supportive. We instantly felt affirmed, loved, and listened to. The fact is, it is dead easy to get to know the leadership, make friends, and to feel cared for. If you are truly serious about Jesus, this is a community church that will challenge you, bless you, and where Jesus will use you in a mighty way if you let him do that.

Grace Church practices what it preaches. In the foyer above the doors to the sanctuary there is a sign that says "You are safe here". It is absolutely, positively true. Grace never browbeats people with legalism or man made denominational rules. They realize that love conquers a multitude of sins, and that it's His kindness that leads us to repentance. The pastoral team tactfully loves well WITHOUT compromising the inherent word of God. I saw one person on here give grace a bad review. This person stated (and I quote) "grace is the worst church i have ever been to it is simply a awful experience they claim to worship god but are unforgiving do no go to any of there services" This statement couldn't be farther from the truth. This person is implying that they were stereotyped ("unforgiving") at Grace. But their very statement in and of itself is a stereotype. When there are 34 reviews with 5 star ratings, and 1 review with a 1 star rating, the person giving the 1 star review might need to take into consideration that perhaps THEY are the "common denominator" and not everyone else. Their claim hasn't been my experience at all. And obviously it hasn't been the experience of the 34 other people who have taken the time to write a review. Grace Church is awesome! Check it out.

Recently moved back East but spent about 6 years out in San Diego. Most of those 6 years I called Grace home. From pastor Tim to the current pastors, Grace is truly an amazing place. Probably one of the best voices in the country leading the worship team and she is surrounded by a talented group who loves to worship. The new pastors have gotten a lot better and pastor Dan is really amazing. Took me getting out here and trying many churches to realize just how great Grace really is. Still looking for a church out east to call home but if you are at Grace or haven’t tried it yet, I promise you, you will not find another church like it anywhere else. This place is special and I still watch and listen every Sunday and play Chelseas Instagram page with the worship teams song every day to work. Love and miss you Grace!

Amazing church that feels welcoming and safe from the time you walk past or through the doors! I feel like the pastors and other people on stage are relatable and not stuck up. This church is very authentic and you don’t have to pretend to be a certain way to fit in or feel accepted. Worship music was great! They also make it really easy to get connected to other people through smaller group gatherings during the week and have community service opportunities to give back to the neighborhood. Highly recommend you check out Grace if 1) you’re looking for a place that’s accepting and not judgy about exploring your faith 2) you’re looking for an authentic church that isn’t phony or commercialized or 3) if you want a place to connect with other believers so you can grow deeper!

My wife & I are visiting SD for the month of August from Austin, TX to escape the unbearable heat and to start scouting southern California for a place to eventually settled down when we finally leave Texas. We rented a little place in University Heights and on a whim walked to Grace SD last weekend. We had a great experience there, and we came back this Sunday again. The worship is powerful and felt spirt led. The sermon has also great both times, and we left with much to discuss and talk about. Thanks for the awesome time! Unfortunately we only have one Sunday left with y'all before we go back to Austin (We go to the Austin Stone in ATX) but are already looking forward to next Sunday.

I've been going to Grace SD since 2018. I was looking for a Bible based, scripture reading, a safe place to grow in my walk with Jesus. The Pastoral staff teaches by reading through scripture, talking about what was going on during that time, what the early church had to do with that message and how we can learn from their lessons. God's word is powerful and it doesn't need to be changed. If you're looking for a church filled with God loving people, that don't change the Bible's message and want to draw closer to God yourself this is the place to do it!

Grace Church is a great place to be on a Sunday morning. Pastor Tim is a very articulate person who knows the Bible. He preaches from the Bible and not about lifestyles. There are many small groups available for Bible studies. They are a great way to get connected in the community and the church. There is a new group started this year The Care Facility Ministry. This group will instruct you in how to go about Pastoring at care facilities bringing them church services since they are not able to get out to go to church. Great opportunity for the ministry.

This is the first church that made me feel like I was home in 15 years of faith. Me and my girlfriend have attended the last 5 weeks and every time we leave service we feel speechless. God is truly the center of this church. You feel encouraged to grow in your faith, you hear gods word in such a way you feel it. Josh truly breaks down the sermon that you can understand, he will make you laugh, smile and even made me cry from a powerful message. I cannot recommend a better church wether it’s your first church experience or not.

I have served as a youth leader for about two years now at Grace Church San Diego and it had been such a rewarding experience! I got involved in youth ministry to give back to my community and foster the faith of the next generation and through my time here, I have not only been able to pour into these children but the Grace community has poured love and kindness tenfold into me! I owe my continued walk with Jesus to the strong community and sense of belonging I have found at Grace Church San Diego. Amazing all around!

  • DAIS VEE

People are friendly, but the thing about this church and no one really comes up to you to welcome you or get you involved. I’ve been here a couple times, trying to get back into the right path. I just don’t feel spiritually fed here. 1. The pastors do not pray before beginning the lesson to prepare us all for what we’re about to hear. 2. I don’t hear the pastors mention repentance in their closing prayer, or throughout the sermon. Great worship group but the rest I can’t feel the same. Will pray for this church.

This is a safe place to experience Jesus. The staff provides amazing opportunities to serve in the church according to your gifts. There are also opportunities to serve in the community on local missions as well as going to other countries. The ministries are fruitful, the worship is rich, the message is the word rightly divided. The only thing missing is you! Come visit at 9:00 or 11:00. Pastors Josh, Jesse and Scott will be available to answer anything you might have on your heart and mind.

A couple years ago, as a Christian young adult here in San Diego, I was looking for a place to connect with other Christian young adults on a weekly basis. The Young Professionals group that meets here on Monday nights has provided just that! It has been such a blessing to meet with fellow Christians in their 20's and 30's, this group has really helped me grow in my walk with God. Come check it out!

Cute little church in the North Park area but there is a problem parking and then the seats inside the church are very uncomfortable and then there's no way after the service to get to know anybody at the church, they don't have a comfortable area to sit down and have coffee or tea and start the process of getting to know people at the same church, therefore I don't recommend this church.....

  • Sarah Kennedy

We love this church, it’s so hard to find a church that isn’t afraid to speak the truth yet does it with gentleness and respect. They truly walk that narrow line. We have been going to Grace now for 3 years and it’s only gotten better. House church has made our experience with the church more than a Sunday gathering, we have family. Thank you God please continue to bless this church!

  • BJ Coleman

This is a friendly, open, welcoming Christian church. The pastoral staff at Grace Church are a wide range of ages, with a mature senior pastor. The church arranges multiple activity-related small groups, including veterans service, yoga and poker. The Sunday services include praise songs, at times congregation activities, and most often a theme-series sermon.

  • Andrew Field

My wife and I have been down in San Diego for 3 months for work. Immediately we loved Grace. Everyone made us feel so welcome. We joined a house church and they also made us feel so incredible welcomed. Pastor Josh preaches the Bible unapologetically which is incredible these days and we loved it. We will miss this church. You should go here.

  • Elizabeth Kerr

Found this church when we first moved to San Diego after searching online. It was the first church we visited and instantly felt at home. Plenty of opportunities to get involved, always something to learn in the lessons, and coffee before every service :)

  • Sarah Brown

Grace Church is family. I love the house church model of mid-week community and doing life together. We are a missional church and always have Biblically-based, Christ-centered sermons. I started over not knowing anyone in this area and it

  • David Demangos

Our family has been attending grace San Diego for the last 10 years. It is a come as you are sure church and Pastor Tim teaches straight out of the Bible. No fluff and no big show here, just straight from the gospel and God's Word.

  • Armando Lopez

Love this church! This place is so awesome it helped grow my wife's Faith as well as help me get back in touch with mine. Grace will always have a place in my heart for everything it's done for me and my family.

  • Armel Leal

Love this church as I love the teachings and sermons what Pastor Tim says as he compares biblical teachings to modern day examples in our walk and how we interact with others on daily basis.

  • deanne

Cute small church in North Park ......wish they had a relaxing area after each service to mingle with one another......,it's no fun unless we are able to get to know one another......
