Jury duty! Took the trolley from old town, arrived at 730AM, check in is at 745AM. Btw if you take the trolley your cost will be $7 not $5, they charge you an extra $2 for a “compass card”. You’ve got to walk through a metal detector, put your bag through a scanner along with your jacket and belt, but you can bring a coffee in with you. In the back corner of the jury room there are three items that you have to pick up. There are cushioned seats at the front, a few power outlets around the outer walls. I chose to sit in the quiet room on the left hand side when you first walk in by the bathroom and vending machines. The quiet room has two outlets and four desks with chairs. Speakers over head let us know about announcements in the other room, but we can't see the projector for the video. Some officials tell us how to fill out our paper work. They play a video explaining jury duty and a couple speakers come up and talk to us. When all that is done they give you the Wi-Fi password :). In the first hour they called up people who didn’t fill out their paper properly. We were then given a 20min break. I grabbed a snack out of the vending machine. The machines take nothing above a dollar bill, quarters and the soda machine takes credit cards. Next they called three groups of 20+ people to go to Jury selection. For the rest of us not called, we waited around until lunch at 1130AM. We got a 2 hour break for lunch. The weather is not the best so I stayed in the court house. Many people left to get lunch. I ate at the subway in the court house. Netflix was very handy for the duration of my wait. If you don’t bring a computer or tablet, bring a book or something that will keep you busy for the hours of waiting. Over all it was very well organized, the workers are friendly and helpful. Hope that some of this helps you plan out your day if you get jury duty.

Hello, This is Brooke Marie Frease. Your building was shut down. There was a book I wrote a journal I left. My son Carmine Vincenzio Frease Magginni was stolen from me about 4 years ago. I have been documenting and reporting all of this. I went to court for the son I raised alone for 9 years. My son's dad Edward Magginni died before my son was born. officer doll showed up at 3050 Rue Dorleans san diego California when my mother Jolene Maria Frease took him from school without my permission. After that I agreed at court he could stay with her until I could get financially stabilized . Im still homeless my friend Norman levi Barney donates me a room depending on his mood. I have no cash aid no benefits. No mailing address . I use the hotel's that Norman Levi Barney helps me with depending on his mood on a week to week basis. Elm Street facility locked me out . I was out side for about 7 months dying. My mother Jolene Maria Frease disobeyed court orders. I have not spoken to my son in 2 months. Your doors were locked when I was trying to go to court to report all of this. If anyone did something or stole my son for money They may be held on federal charges. Im ill. I get no disability. Im sick from this. A job streammate I worked for 8 years for them has decided I never worked for them they will not pay . I am finding it hard to stabilize to get my son back due to all of this. I went to court . I own no vehicle no debit card no credit card I never got disability or cash assistance from San diego California . Thank you Brooke Marie Frease

This review is for their cafeteria. There are multiple signs outside and inside the building advertising its cafeteria with photos of Boar's Head. I get there and ask one of the staff if they have sandwiches. He keeps pointing at the refrigerated section which has fruit and drinks. I say again, do you have sandwiches? He points at the fridge section again. Clearly, this guy didn’t understand what I was saying. During this interaction, there's a staff member standing nearby who wasn't saying anything. I ask him if I can have a sandwich. He says all we have is turkey or chicken. So I order a turkey. This guy could have spoken up and told me they had sandwiches instead of standing there saying nothing. When I paid with credit card, it was one of those displays that asks for a tip. Of course I didn't give them one. But the fact they try to get tips at a cafeteria is ridiculous. $7.50. Small sandwich. But tasted good. Will not repeat.

I applied and paid for my passport (card) and I never got it. I went back to the place, they sent me to another building about 6 blocks further. They told me after 90 days they are not longer responsibles for anything and I have to pay again. I paid again this mont will be 90 days, I have not got my passport yet again.... This place sucks. They just swindle you and don't take any responsability.

Security at entrance needs to remember to be RESPECTFUL. I believe they have forgotten that they serve us, the public. Small Claims representatives on the phone talk over you, provide you with different and ineffective assistance and don't support the public. I was told I'd get a follow up phone call with help from a supervisor and it's been weeks.

Dont waste your time with filing a small claims case here.. The judges are bias and rude.. we had overwhelming evidence that our former landlord was harassing us and going on our property without our permission or when we were not home.. the good old boy judge still ruled in his favor.. this place is a complete joke and a waste of time! Zero stars

Warning for transgender people :they sent the papers for my name and gender change do my residential address instead of my listed mailing address and outed me to someone I hadn't had a chance to speak to yet. They should be ashamed that it's 2019 and they can't understand why someone changing their name and gender would want it sent to a PO box

yo i'm gonna break with what everyone else is saying. they do have a lot of cops in uniforms if ur into that sort of thing. i renamed it tho. it's now "the hall of injustice". to reflect the society it lives in. as if all judges and lawyers are honest. get real. trump is literally president right now. as if justice is the norm.

The Hall of Justice. The only time they should be there is when you're conducting personal business . Weather is too sure somebody import or to be served. There are many levels to this building. There is a directory and you can't find where it going just ask one of the security personnel or kindly ask one of the sheriff's.

Navigation can be tricky, the building shows its age in things like the AC (please, please fix it soon), and the bathrooms. There is a single security checkpoint entrance which can get crowded. I'd almost suggest going in the main courthouse and taking the bridge over. Otherwise clean and functional, friendly enough staff.

Mark is the only one I'd want to deal with. When the other person before him dropped the ball, Mark went the distance abd actually got it done. This organization is truly lucky to have you working there thank you again for everything you did to get the file I needed in the time I needed I really appreciate your help

There is no justice in California! SD167074 STATE COMPENSATION INSURANCE FUND SCREWS PEOPLE OUT OF $ TO USE FOR THE DNC-VAP (Voter Acquisition Program). California government is corrupt and must be stopped immediately. This state will take the entire country down. Move to California to overthrow the government now!

The simple fact that they are allowed to be BEHIND on their default judgements which affect and have affected my court case is baffling then they are able to simply file my proof of service then deny my entry of default because of no proof of service is baffling as well. This whole system is BACKWARDS.

If I could give this lazy bureaucrats a zero I would... They keep on treating the people that pay their salary like crap. How about you lazy bastards help the people that are there get stuff done as fast as possible so they can be on their way!!! We don't want to be in your office all freaking day!

  • Bat Man

Mark is the one to see. How refreshing to see somebody that takes pride in their job. When the prior person who had helped me dropped the ball Mark went out of his way to make it right and went the distance to make sure it was done I can't thank you enough

The Hall of Justice is starting to show its age but it is still a very nice facility. Lovely facade, and the facilities are very nice. The courtrooms themselves are spacious and pleasant and well ventilated.

This is where people check in for Jury duty. I recommend sitting in the cushioned seats in the front left. There are not a lot of power outlets, so hunt around for them near the columns or reading room.

  • Jose Zarate

Showed up at 7:50. Won't let you in until 0800. Employees only before 0800. Cash or money order only. If you forget there is an ATM on the 4th floor, same floor as the passport office. Got done by 0845!

  • irving hernandez

Horrible! Went in for expedited passport services and the staff was incredibly rude and unprofessional. Alex's conduct was truly a disservice to the city that pays her wages. Stay away!

  • Stay Humble

The rating is for the beautiful pictures you can take of the building at sunset. Love the way the building is lit up. It's fun to watch all the newly weds exiting the building.
