Was in for 3 days and gave birth to my son here....I hate to be this person, but honestly if I could give 0 stars I would. I've felt like writing a review would be. A waste but even 3 years later I hope maybe it'll help someone else or maybe somebody else has a similar experience . Came in June 2020 for my pre birth visit, (my first child so this was all new to me) where they see you at the hospital before you have your child. And I had to stay and be induced due to my high blood pressure, preeclampsia. I had to have a few tests done in this room where there were a few other beds with people in them around . Blood tests and all. The doctors/nurses were very cold and robotic. A few hours go by and a nurse tells me in positive for BENZOS! I tell her to retest me because I don't take pills. There's no way anything was in my system . She told me "There's no point it's already in our system" I was very upset but didn't push it because I had such a problem standing up for myself back then. Fastforward to this night, I'm transferred to my in-labor room. The night nurse i had was actually really nice. Sadly the ONLY nice one. morning comes and I have no complaints till I had my son. My doctor, an older lady. Very very very rude and inconsiderate cold woman. She was rude the whole time to me and ignored me. I had to use the bedpan at one point because I wasn't allowed to get up at this point, she just handed it to my husband and we had to figure it out and when I was done I was just hovering above the bedpan till my legs almost gave out because the doctor(in the room) was ignoring me so my husband tried to clean me and took the bedpan instead. No body bathed my son, at that point I didn't know they were supposed to, I was told as I was leaving. Later on the day I had my son, was transferred to another room and every nurse I had from here on was just rude, so rude. They all thought I had BENZOS in my system so I assume that's where the coldness came from. During one of the shift changes from day to night nurse, my nurse held up a paper in front of her and the other nurses mouth, right in front of my bed, mind you. And she said "she's on BENZOS" and I really just wanted to cry I was so shocked how obvious and mean they were being at this point, I was scared to ask for a retest again because I figured theyd deny me one again. The told me a bit later CPS is going to come and talk with me before I leave. Next day im transferred to another room before I was discharged. And CPS lady came and talked to me. She was rude and judgemental, assumed I was lying but I just stood my ground and told her the hospital must have mixed my results from somebody elses, you can test me today and I'll come back clean 100% and she was unsure but told me id have to go take a drug test , which i agreed. Came back negative of course, but I had a case for 8 months , parenting classes and constant drug tests . I even had to leave my own apartment with my son and stay with distant relatives of family friends, because was only safe place they could put me at within the CPS case. It was all honestly a traumatic experience, what should have been the most wonderful special experiences of my life. and just because Ben taub messed up my test results. I hope they've tried to change things or fixed their attitudes atleast because that's just terrible .

I wish I could give this hospital a 0. I've been to the ER twice, first time I walked in and today I came by ambulance. The first time it took me about 30-45 minutes to get my vitals checked as I waited standing up. Having neuropathy it was uncomfortable. I showed both the intake person and the vitals nurse the referral from my doctor for possible ketoacidosis and they treated me for a possible ulcer. No referral to see a gastroenterologist to see if, in fact, I had an ulcer. The worst part is what happens after the waiting room. They have converted er rooms into holding areas to fit more people say 6-8 people. I waited in the room with other people, walked to the blood-drawn room, and got prepped with an iv. No liquids yet. Then they sent back to the room. After X-rays and more blood draws, they put me in a different room with six other people waiting for the test results. They then moved me to a different room to get my fluids. At least that room had reclining chairs, 3 of them. Being diabetic I needed to advocate for myself and another patient to get some snacks. I also asked for his medicine. I was released feeling that I wasted my time because they didn't address my diabetic issue and sent me home. Today, was worse. I came in an ambulance. Check-in and vitals went smoothly some blood was drawn and the heart was monitored. Was sent to the same room that I sat in last time. Why did they put a fall risk band and still tried to get me to walk to places? Again more blood draws, EKG, and X-rays. Back to the testing results room. At least I finally got an IV, in the picture. Yeah, the other 2 IVs belonged to another patient in the room who had difficulties moving from his chair to the wheelchair. Another patient left because she waited too long. Another diabetic patient had been there for 26 hours with no food or water. Then I was released after taking an anti-vertigo medicine. The gentleman who had been there for 26 hours and felt like passing out was released after me. At the time of release, I was confused why they were releasing me when my legs were still shaking. All I got was that the doctor had released me and that was final. Nothing was addressed. I still have a heavy chest and I still get easily winded. Never again am I stepping into this ER!

let me start by saying the ICU team was pretty good. They are not the problem, my mom is in a type of coma/vegetative state. She nor any of our family live in Houston, we all live in Dallas but my mom was here for a short stay. Stopped breathing died and was brought back so now she’s in a type of coma at this hospital. with that being said we just wanted her stable and better to then get her transported back HOME. We are patient and understanding and worked with all the teams there. The amount of neglect my mother received in the Med 6 floor was disgusting. Respiratory team was supposed to administer oral care every 4 hours and that never happened. her lips were scabbed over, her tongue is a huge scab and her teeth were towered with plaque, i’ve never seen anything like that before. Her hands were so dry and cracked they bled. her hair became a knot, a knot the size of her head we will have to have it shaved or cut with our skilled nursing team. Your team took advantage of the fact that we could only come once a week to see my mama. Luciena a nurse there, mean. Sandra a social worker never helped us locate a nursing facility, talked to us very patronizing, called me 10 minutes before she left for two days to ask me for a $3000 payment for an ambulance (we’ve never been through this before and wish we were told we needed to have $3000 for transport) before they ever asked for payment (wednesday) they said she would be here tuesday and the “transport” fell through because of low staff, only after we learned we have to pay and she fully expected a card number 10 minutes before she leaves and we couldn’t call her back. She kept giving us the wrong nursing facilities we found one ourselves. We finally said no more Sandra and Tony the supervisor was so helpful and actually communicated with us. that’s all we asked. Now mama is home at a nursing facility where we can see her every damn day. i hope no one ever does this to your mother and please hold these people accountable if they have your family member. So glad to be back in Dallas, Houston you’ve treated us terribly specifically this Med 6 team

Worse place to work. Abusive management (Insight department). I experienced both verbal, and emotional abuse from Deborah Henry. She called me "CRAZY" during meetings and yelled at me in front of other staff. Furthermore, she mentioned my COV19 information in front of other staff members. In addition, whenever I had a complaint, she threatened to fire me multiple times. Two staff members admitted to me of bullying a former staff member which Deborah Henry was also involved. I expressed all my concerns both verbally and in writing to the director (Stephen Moora) and Human resources. During my first meeting with Stephen Moora, while discussing how I was being mistreated by Deborah Henry, Stephen stated "I believe something happened, maybe Deborah doesn't have social skills". While in the first meeting with human resources, Stephen, Barbara and Deborah were present. Barbara asked Stephen, what were his thoughts where about my complaint, Stephen failed to mention what he stated about Deborah during my meeting with him. Barbara will constantly interrupt me when it was my turn to speak, and she will try to discredit me. I was spoken to in a condescending manner; they used manipulative tactics as an attempt to intimidate me. After the meeting ended, it was clear to me that Deborah was not going to be held accountable for her actions. After multiple meetings with human resources, Deborah continued to be verbally and emotionally abusive towards me until my last day at Harris Health. I informed Stephen of the continuous verbal abuse from Deborah, his response was "I received your email, would you like to come for your exit interview?" Harris Health has very low standards, they lack Dignity. I lost all respect for all people mentioned above. I will never refer or encourage anyone to work for Harris Health. If you're reading this, know that you are Not planted, you Can walk away. Look elsewhere for employment. ABUSE IS NEVER OK

Do not deliver your baby at this hospital It looks like this is learning hospital Where they train new doctors . I had my baby here he was born premature. Unfortunately all the doctors are new doctors or residents . Never met attended dr. At niccu. All are residents or fellow dr.s. So your baby will be just there for them to study on. After my premature baby got so sick by keeping him isolated next to the most sickest baby, my baby got sick worse with lots of respiratory conjetion . Not just that i caught niccu nurse who was taking care of sick baby in isolation room, she didnt bother to wash hands and she touch my baby. No wonder why my baby was a recovering. After so many days later when my baby stop breathing, niccu dr had to change oxygen tube for my baby which made him bleed inside his throat that they have to give him blood transfusions. We request to transfer him to texas children niccu which they could do it since my baby was so sick but they DID NOT. After hurting my premature baby and practice on him for For so many days doctors decided to transfer him in texas children and when i asked the reason they said just because texas child has higher level of care and they are in number 2. I guess all the dr. gave up on my tiny baby and thought before he died lets just transfer him to Tch. I WISH THEY WOULD LISTEN TO PARENTS DEMAND AND TRANSFER BABY IN TEXAS CHILDREN NICCU . we were not happy having our baby in niccu here. My stress level was so high that I couldn’t take care of myself after having c section. Just had regrets that I delivered him here and my new born had to suffer and he may not make it. Do not deliver your baby at this hospital. Night nurses at bed side after baby are great. But the day time nurses after postpartum are lazy and they dont bother to come to your room unless you call them 2-3 times. All I experienced is this is learning hospitals for doctors.

Horrible experience. They would not update us on my mother inlaw for over 6 hours (and never did) after she fell on sidewalk and hit head. Those at front just kept saying the dr would come out if they can. 6 hours and a nurse, no one could afford 3 mins. We were not allowed to see her, but how can we not get updates, any thoughtful update? What we got was "she was ok". That is not acceptable. Hours upon hours and no courtesy of - if she was conscious, had stitches, what shape was she in? Her kids weren't around for fall, so there was no context, except for a good amount of blood And they did not accommodate for people with disabilities. My father in law can not walk well at all. I was told they had no wheelchairs. Then I was told I would have to request one. I said I request one. She said they didn't have any. She left and one minute later her relief went behind the wall (within 10 feet) and gave us one. That was after not having one for hours. Wth? We decided to leave bc it was after hours (and discovered I would have to walk down the street alone since the hospital hallway to parking garage closed well after dark. And there was a skirmish out front.) 7 hours there. Asked desperately to be called with update. Got home and within am hour they said they were releasing her and had to go back. Unprofessional. Shady. Disrespectful of family and elderly husband. Lacking awareness of people with disabilities. Dismissive. I get that it's their everyday, but it is NOT ours. I cannot comprehend how this treatment is from a reputable hospital.

I’ve been coming here on and off for years. Only been to the ER here 5 times. If that’s why you’re coming be prepared to wait a long time. Longer than you think you should wait. No matter what stage of care you’re in you’re gonna wait. Bring snacks, maybe a blanket and or neck pillow. I’m serious. The only time I’ve been seen a little faster is when I came in on an ambulance. I’ve also had surgery here and other appointments. Surgery was a great experience. Only had an issue with one nurse. But I don’t know what the deal with that was. Other care takers have been great. My biggest issue is appointment times. I’m waiting on my appointment to begin now. I’ve come here early too many times to count and I’m either made late because of the check in process/line. (I try to get here 30 minutes or more before my appointment.) Or I finally get through all that to wait 30 plus minutes after my scheduled time. This is including doing the online check in which seems useless here. Again waiting is an issue. If you have a job try to schedule more time or the rest of the day off. Even though I know some of you can’t do that. My heart goes out to you. It’s not fair at all. They don’t respect your time. But let you be as late as them …you will lose your spot. Edit: Got here at 12:22 pm for a 1:00 appointment. Name was called at 1:54 pm. Have to wait for the doctor now.

WORSE HOSPITAL EVER! If you need actual medical attention DO NOT go here. My little sister got into a really bad car accident. She was driven To Ben taub hospital. The full duration of her visit was 17 HOURS! (6AM SHE ARRIVED AND 11:30PM SHE LEFT) my sister was there at 6am & approximately 9 HOURS later a resident FINALLY came to see my sister and check/evaluate her condition. Thankfully she didn’t break anything and she was just bruised all over and her muscles were tense from the crash. She was given medication for pain then we were told a doctor would be with us soon and that we would get discharged once the doctor saw us. This was at 3:40PM IN THE AFTERNOON. 6/7 hours of Waiting and being forgotten numerous times later at 9:25PM IN THE EVENING the doctor saw my sister and cleared her to leave stated that there was no overnight room for her to stay in and all he could suggest for her was Tylenol and to apply vicks to her body. The RN helping us kemila (I believe her name was) she was very helpful and I could tell she was just as frustrated as I was in terms of how long the resident was taking to see us. And then the doctor proceeded to take just as long for some measly advice and a “if you have any pain come back to us”. Absolutely unacceptable.

My mind is BLOWN at how this place has an overall 3 star review rating. I wish 0 star was an option. If you or your loved one have medical issues and need serious medical care, please DO NOT take them to this hospital! Seriously, a veterinarian would be a better option. This is the worst hospital I have EVER been to. The lack of communication between the doctors is a joke at best. None of them are on the same page or seem to take the time to review the patients chart. One doctor tells you one thing then the next doctor you see tells you something completely different. It seems like all they want to do is discharge you, wipe their hands of you and get a paycheck. I will say, over the course of being at this hospital (a little over a week in total time bc I went in for one thing, was discharged and came back for something else) there are two amazing doctors I met. One was Dr. Davidson and the other was Dr. Gonzales (an anesthesiologist). Dr Gonzales in particular was incredible. He was the only person that advocated for me and seemed genuinely concerned about my health and well-being. He even took the time to check on me and my charts while he was at home on his off time. Other than him, this place is a joke. Don’t go there. You’ve been warned.

I give it 2 stars because of the wait time. I took my wife, we checked in at around midnight. By 9 a.m. next day we were out. We were schedule to come back on February 19, 2017 to do a blood test follow up and since outpatient clinic was close, to come to the E.R. We were going to go to a private clinic, but decided to finish the follow up there. We arrive at 1 p.m. and the photos on this comments are from February 19, 2017. It was almost empty. The amount of time they take to just see you is outrageous. They finally did her test after hours waiting. Hours later, they took us to a room, we waited in there roughly an hour. A student doctor just came over, from Baylor College, say everything was fine, they'll check you out. That's it, he left. No name, did not introduce himself, etc... We left the hospital at 8 p.m. overall it's a good hospital, parking sucks, and the smell is bad in the E.R. so many homeless check in to sleep warm, and they're not even sick. They even go to McDonalds, sit there, watch T.V. and crash. If you have insurance go somewhere else, this is a community hospital and they'll gladly take your insurance, but won't deliver good service. I'm sure they may do it once admitted, but in the process, is not worth it.

I don’t know what happened with this hospital you expect things to change for the better but this last visit I noticed it changed for the worst. Staff is really rude nurses don’t care. When I was going to be transported to a pod the nurse pushing me was so busy talking to the staff that she just popped the brake I almost fell from the chair she said sorry and then just laughed about it. Once transported 3 hours went by before anyone bothered to check on me I pressed my call light and waited 15 min so I got up to go look for my nurse you can clearly hear the call light and the nurses were gathered just sitting the laughing and talking badly about the patients. I was burning up with fever asked several times for Tylenol for pain and all the nurse would tell me is doctor has no meds for you just stay in your room after 6 hours I finally got Tylenol and the nurse told me I was going to be discharged. I’ve had a couple of surgeries here and the care has always been phenomenal I really wouldn’t mind the wait but this last time I just couldn’t believe the lack of compassion and how these people just did not care I will not be returning here and please go somewhere anywhere is better than this place anywhere.

Well where to begin… let’s see… first i want to say do NOT have your baby here… I was attending appointments here for my pregnancy and because of high blood pressure @ a visit they decide to induce me and I so happen to have my 11 yr old son with me the social worker ANGELA get involved because of that reason and end up calling cps behind my back with “suspicious neglect”. So I end up getting induced had my baby who had to be in nicu for a brief period of time … this is where he’ll really broke lose .. they wasn’t changing my baby diapers on time, (bad rash) Wasn’t feeding my baby (cause weight loss), dr “Allyson lee didn’t want to release my baby to me and the and father because they was trying to kidnap my baby and kept blaming it on cps & I spoke with cps and they had no idea of whAt was going on but said to go get your baby and to file a law suit under “civil rights” Ben taub count your days because I’m already filing for the suit !!! Oh and Angela u thought calling cps was gone hurt me but it only backfired and he’s helping me by having the courts subpoena them and he will testify @ court!! Y’all run there are plenty other hospitals please don’t have a baby at this place of hell !!

I came to the women’s health clinic when I was around 5 weeks pregnant. I was high risk and my diabetes was not under control at this point. I never visited with an actual doctor, only residents. My first appointment was very stressful as they made it seem like they were mentally preparing me to miscarry. They kept telling me the risks of being diabetic and pregnant over and over again. I left in tears. I miscarried in July 2022 so to be hearing what they were saying was so hurtful. It felt like they had already given up on me and the baby. The resident couldn’t even perform a good ultrasound. He couldn’t find the baby and kept walking out to find a real doctor. Who never came around so instead they told me they can’t find the baby and I’m most likely not pregnant or the egg hasn’t implanted yet. A week later, I had an appointment with Memorial MRI and they found the baby no problem and said I was around 7 weeks. Ben Taub , overall just seemed incompetent. I’m 20 weeks now with a healthy baby boy and have been with UT Physicians since 8 weeks. I would not recommend Ben TAUB to any expecting mothers, especially those who are high risk or with a history of miscarriage.

If they have a ZERO star i would gladly select it. My family member has a procedural appointment today 12/15/2022 for 8:am. The clinic that he went to asked me to go down to the first floor waiting area to wait due to their limited space in the clinic that they would like to reserved for their patient. While i was waiting on the assigned waiting area, the security officer (Tamara Helen) told me that i have to wait OUTSIDE of the hospital, mind you, today is the coldest day with temperature in the 40's. I was not the only one, an elderly couple was also there waiting were also asked to leave to wait outside. Ben Taub need to get their policy straight, if the chair that was there for the use of the patient/visitor then it should be put to use and address in their visitiation policy, to dress warm since they CAN NOT wait inside the facility, and expect to be waiting up to 3+ hours for a 30 miniutes procedure. I would advise those chair to be removed if it's not allowed to be use, no need to be decieved for ornamental purpose. For this reason we know how it can contribute to cold, flu, and such ailment. Thank you Ben Taub for making us sicker instead of healing.

Worst hospital I’ve ever been to and I work in healthcare. We had a schedule c-section for my wife at 8:10 AM, this place had us wait 11 hours with no update or anything. Baby was delivered at 7:40 PM. They claimed they had emergency c-sections all day, why not reschedule instead of making my wife wait for 11 hours with nothing to drink or eat all day. STAY AWAY from this place if you can. There were other woman there to deliver as well, mostly Spanish speaking. None of the nurses spoke Spanish so they’d have to go to another unit and grab someone to translate and they had no sense of urgency. One nurse would tell everyone “uno momento “ and would never come back to check on the patients waiting. Parking is another issue, you have a baby and they want you to pay $30 a day just for parking. We had one day validated and after that I was forced to pay $60 for parking which is ridiculous. Security informed me just because you have a baby doesn’t make you special you have to pay for parking. AGAIN STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE, MOST ARE JUST THERE FOR A CHECK. I would leave a negative star rating if I could.

The Upper Management needs to restructure the entire emergency center system. First reevaluate all staff nurses, you have by far the most unaware, horrible nurses. They are not professional and lack very important information, and techniques for caring of the patients. Second your system for informing family on patient updates is beyond stressful on both the staff and family of the patient. Third your security team extremely unprofessional, rude and no sympathy for worried family members. I can go on but that would mean I'm doing your job for you. If anything "ghetto" isn't the right word to describe your nurses, the correct word would be "unqualified". These nurses had a whole conversation of who they had "a good time with" the night before, all distracted from small details of patient care. This Hospital needs to be closed down and re-imaged. Every one in Houston has a "Horrible" story of the experience they had here. I'll send you proof soon. I'll question people all over Housnton and they will speak the truth.

Absolutely one of the best hospitals I've ever been in. I came in freaked out with a head injury and dislocated and fractured ankle and these folks responded professional and assessed my immediate needs appropriately with much care. My nurse in the Neuro ICU was very, very attentive and observant like I've never experienced before. She's going places. When they moved me after surgery to the other ICU, I was met by a nurse from Panama who really took charge of my pain that got out of hand and I thank her so much for her diligence. And to top it off, this morning I was met by another nurse who had the same care and devotion as the ones that proceeded her. She laughed at my silliness of calling myself Mr. Potato Head in Spanish. She looked after me like they all did and made sure I understood my written post op directions. Folks, you have the best nurses of any hospital I've ever been in. Thank you so much for the hospitality!!

  • Kate Robbins

If there was no star here I would have used it. Unfortunately this hospital has really disappointed me in their treatment of new workers. They were extremely discriminatory towards my mother who was a new nurse orienting on their rapid admissions floor. If you are a new nurse looking for a job here, don’t be fooled by the level 1 trauma status that they hold. The management refused to speak with their workers regarding their bullying and unprofessional attitudes. Instead shifted their blame to their new worker who was unaware of the unprofessional, lazy, bullying culture they care so greatly to uphold. The sad part is that the patients suffer because of the uncaring attitudes of the senior nurses that chase off new eager nurses who wish to do the very best for their patients. This is a hostile learning and working environment and I wish on no one to be treated with so little respect.

  • Vette Harrison

First of all I must say that this hospital is very unprofessional. I was there last week and the wait is unbelievable, I was there for 12 hours. The nurse at the front was arguing with a patient in front of all the patients. I have worked in hospitals and I must say THIS HOSPITAL IS A HUGE HIPPA VIOLATIONS NO CONFIDENTIALITY especially once you get to the back to see the physician. They hold you in a pod with numerous other patients. The doctors discuss other patients information in front of other patients. Plenty of the seats and tables were not cleaned. I feel as though all my concerns were ignored and not addressed didn’t feel any better after going to Ben Taub Hospital. I would say this hospital needs more caring employees that is not just there for a paycheck. I would give a 0 if I could. I would tell others please go somewhere else where the doctors and staff really care.

  • Byron

This hospital is the WORST place to be if you need real medical care. If you need that, go to Methodist Hospital.. At Ben Taub, nurses make all the medical diagnosis and irders, leaving the actual doctors in the dark. Oct. 7, 2021 I was in the ICU for about six weeks and the remainder in a regular room. While in the regular room, most if the nurses always refused to get a doctor when I ask for one. They always tried to diagnosis and recommend different medications the doctors didn't know about. When administered medications, they would want to give me drugs I didn't know anything about. I began to ask what the meds was suppose to do. If its didn't make any sense, I refuse the drug. Then when doctors did come to see me, the nurses seem to give them a hard time for NO reason. I would urge anybody to NOT go to this hospital. You will make your medical condition worst.

I’m sitting in the waiting room with a broken fibula. I’m in a wheelchair that’s you can’t roll yourself. The police officer told a guy who just was helping me get inside that he can’t leave me there because he don’t push people. The guy said I don’t know her sir I was just helping. The police then says well I’m not pushing her. Luckily a random lady pushed me in line. After I checked in I needed to go to the back the lady turned to security of the hospital not the officer and asked him to push me to the back. He shook his head and said you can’t ask that lady to push her. I then asked the check in lady who suppose to push me she said security. He sat there and didn’t push me. He’s a light skin black guy with light fair skin. I am a black lady so I’m not mentioning his race for that. He need to be fired honestly. I never been treated so bad in my life.

Came with my wife today. At 1:00 it is now close to 9 and still waiting for a ultrasound result which by the way took almost 6 hrs to get. you would think in our time where technology is a plus results were be done faster. Don’t mind waiting but when you have to ask and ask to get answers it tells me there is no care of the patient at least give them something to drink or eat if they can have it. Sorry not a good experience at all. Had it before as well that’s why I was hesitant to come but was hoping for better results. Disappointed again . 9:18 update. Apparently you are not allowed in the lobby after 9. So I have my wife in the emergency and I have to wait outside!!!! Update 10:00 pm. Just got a text from my wife still not given results doctore has yet to see her. If you can avoid coming here.

Texas has the largest population of uninsured people in the country. Ben Taub provides medical services to the disadvantaged and has some of the best qualified medical professionals serving at the Level 1 trauma center. The professionals and professors are empathetic and nurses are caring at the time when we / our family is vulnerable. It’s focus has continued to be provide Medical services across disciplines to the wider Houston community despite the thread bare insurance and medical coverage that Texans have. It continues to expand services currently housing 20 specialty clinics with the capacity to see 80,000 patients a year. Due to the nature of patients. the premises occasionally are not the cleanest. Parking rates have sky rocketed over the past year - hence I’ve taken off a star.

Worst hospital I never been since my whole life. I took my husband here for cough and shortness of breath . they did not run out any test and the doctor just guess and said its probably pneumonia covid or some allergies. Let me prescribe you some medications. And the next day my husband was getting worst. I have to take him to an other hospital where they did EKG for him and cat scan and diagnoses with more complications. Oh my God they have you wait in the street the building was under renovation. The worst part they have a portable bathroom that it's closed at 10 pm. When I ask the front desk ladie to use the bathroom and she's like sorry there is no bathroom here. And staff af0re really rude also. They do not care about your health. Worst hospital ever

My son went in on yesterday morning and has been in the waiting. They were going to discharge him last night then they tell him to wait the might admit him. So at 3 am they finally come and tell him he is not being discharged. He is still in the waiting. What does it mean to admit someone and leave them in the waiting room?what is there no beds for him? how long does it really take to get someone to a room? This is horrible I understand it's a government hospital but people should not be treated like they are animals. Fix your system and get people the assistance they need to feel better. Rating you a 1 is not what I want to rate your hospital as. If there was a negative star I would rate your hospital that instead.

  • Oralia Sanchez

This place will always be known as the ghetto County Hospital ! Because of the staff super rude unprofessional security officers every single person working in the ER dept belong here they wouldn't know how to act or behave any where else especially the female security officers you can't ask them one question without a rude answer. Literally told me to walk to Herman hospital to find something to drink after sitting here for 9 hours . You have a sign placed in every waiting room say something and call and report ppl and then it says not to speak loud or rude to your staff th at you'll be removed ...you need to tell the people working here the same thing . Rude Degradeing spitful aggressive combative employees

  • Madison Eaton

If I could give 0 stars I would. Had a medically necessary laparoscopic cystectomy done in 2018. I was taking part in the Harrid Health Gold Card program. The cyst was 6 pounds 10cm in diameter. The doctor who did my surgery didn't close the muscles behind my belly button. Thats right. I walked around with an umbilical hernia for 4 years before I found someone to believe me about my belly button pain. And then the person who tubed me chipped a tooth and it had to be removed because it chipped and cracked all the way down the root. Awful place. Awful doctors. Awful experience. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else unless you want to be neglected, botched or killed.

  • Nicolette Cupino

First time at this hospital and I have to say this place is very unprofessional. I went in with the most outmost pain in my mouth. I was checked in. And waited 2 hours till I was called waiting in a room. Didn’t even offer any type of pain medicine while having me wait that long with agonizing pain. Thinking with the pain I described they would extract my wisdom tooth and all they did was numb my cheek that was supposed to last for 6 hrs and only lasted for 2 hrs. Only to prescribe me orajel. Not even pain medicine to go with it. This was not a good experience for someone who was in agonizing pain. Other patients was waiting for 3 hrs. Would not be going here again

  • Yaressy Garcia

The worst experience ever for my dad. Drs and Nurses show zero empathy. Dr wanted to do an amputation, we requested one more day of antibiotics to see if we can save his foot, Dr replied with: if you’re not wanting amputation then you should just leave, you’re taking up space here”. My dad called nurses because he needed to go to the restroom and nurses would respond 30 mins later, my dad had to evacuate on his bed once. Not once did they clean his wounds, so we had to do it when they allowed visitors. He felt shamed and disrespected at all times. Treated like he’s just a dirty peace of cloth. We’re taking him out today. Also praying for God’s mercy on them,

  • Lamis Sbeiti

Can I just say I have met some of the most AMAZING nurses here. They are all so kind and patient. There are good days and there are tough days, especially on the med surgical floors. But you can just tell that they are so skilled and hard working! I had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Ana in unit 3A, and she is probably one of the most amazing nurses I have ever met. Her patients always came first and no matter how busy things got, she prioritized meeting her patients needs above all else! She was so kind and I truly admire her for all her hard work! Ms. Ana, thank you for being a good role model for all future nurses out there! You truly are a superhero!

  • lamah3

The staff here are amazing! I came to the ER at 6am. It was busy, but not as bad as that same evening later on. I was seen by a doctor within minutes, probably due to the severity of my condition. My nurses were all considerate and patient. I received a surgery later in the afternoon. Seemed like a long wait but given how busy the ER line was I think I was lucky. The surgical team of doctors expedited my case and we just did the surgery in my room . They worked quick and I am grateful on how meticulous they were. Only one thing I don’t like is was how many medical students were in my room throughout the day, but hey they have to learn somewhere!

  • Dumbdownjason

The staff was super unprofessional, disrespectful, and rude to the patients. The people nurses pass the double doors were too busy just standing around gossiping instead of attending their patients and were also mocking and laughing at some of the patients. It was a Hispanic male, two Hispanic females and one Asian female who were all nurses participating in all of this. They were not even trying to help with anything and downplaying the conditions of the patients. One of the doctors even had to tell them to get to work because how much they’re lacking. It was nothing but a waste of time, there was no professionalism there at all.

  • T W

I have been waiting in the emergency room for 3 hours with the same 5 patients in front of me. These people are slow af! This is not an emergency room. I really don’t think they care. Nurses will literally have you waiting until the shift change just so they won’t have to do the work. And when I decided to ask nurse Holly why it’s taking so long, I got an attitude of a response while she and other nurses sit at the computer desk talking about personal things when they main concern should be addressing patients in the ER. There is no reason why I should be waiting over 3 hours to see a nurse and this place not even busy!

  • Monica Stewart

I am getting discharged today! First of all I was not suppose to be at Ben Taub I put in navigator to go to Memorial Herman however I made it to Ben Taub lol. I must say I truly enjoyed my stay got a lil frustrated at first cause I had to wait for a room. However the staff there from the janitor, cna, nurses, and doctors are awesome! Everyone there treated me so kind I really didn’t want to leave I ask to stay another day but they say u good u got to go lol. I am so glad God sent me to that hospital they saved my life! Thanks to everyone who came I contact with me may you be blessed always!

  • rach r

I would give zero stars if it were possible, just RUDE workers, don’t show no type of empathy, and no respect towards minorities. I understand the hospital is for low income but treat us like humans. Second and worst of all, they have misunderstandings regarding surgeries and will call you stating incorrect information. TERRIBLE. I’ll rather pay more than get treated like trash or be in a misunderstanding situation. Why work in a hospital if you don’t care for other’s emotions and give attitude to people ? We all have bad days but don’t put it out on others. Change your staff, do better.

  • Veldroy

I thought i was having a heart attack so i came here and they did an EKG on me then without telling me the results made me sit down for 5 hours in the waiting room wit no answer, after 2 more hours passed they checked my vitals and i asked the nurse about my EKG results and she said it was good, they then made me sit another 3 hours with no explanation just excuses, Worst hospital in the country. Some people waited 16+ hours and never got looked at by a doctor, even after people were checked they had to wait 4 hours for the discharge papers. Unbelievably horrible Hospital.

  • Brook

Worst Hospital in Houston. I was taken here by ambulance, not by choice despite having insurance for all the other idiots commenting. If you have insurance or money avoid at all cost because all the doctors are all students, they are packed with uninsured patients, the wait times for any appointment is 3 hours, and they will do everything they can to prevent you from getting your medical records so that you can go to a reputable facility. I was here for a week and the one thing I will say is the food is amazing and the staff are very friendly. Just a poorly run facility.

  • Suzanne Crawford

I should've written this review last year so I do apologize. I've never been greeted with such empathy and compassion from a hospital staff.I need to be very transparent with this review. My brother was in ICU with an extremely infectious sickness. The moment I got to the hospital I was brought up to speed with my brothers condition.I was overly embraced with empathy from the DOCTORS, NURSES, even the security lol. which is very rare. I just wanted so say Thank you for your kindness and compassion during one of the most heartbreaking moments of my life.

  • La Princesa Warrior

1 star, more like -infinity . I’m currently sitting here in the emergency center waiting for my husband to come out. He’s had an injury since 10 AM, been here for almost 4 hours. And they still haven’t checked out his hand. Instead of helping him feel better , he looks even worse than he came in! The worst thing is that they don’t even let him eat any food or snacks for no apparent reason while he’s in there in pain. (Security reasoning not the doctor) I will never ever ever in my life come back to this hospital. In my entire LIFE. Do not come here.

  • Sandra -

My mother came in for emergency room, she was diagnosed with breast cancer about a month ago & we came back because of pain she was having. We brought her at 10:50am & she was there for 12 hours straight with no food, injected her idk how many times that left her bruised because people didn’t know how to do their job. ALL of that for them to tell us that the cancer progressed. Sadly we kept on calling all month to get an appointment until now but the appointment is very late this month. We are truly disappointed in the service & health care here.

  • Danny Decker

I wish I could put a 0. They treated my mother so horribly after an invasive surgery and refused her pain medicine for over 30 hours, only giving her Tylenol- a medicine that could kill her due to her other issues. And the gave her more medicine that she is very allergic too and downplayed it. Doctors refused to talk to her, she wasn't told about receiving transfusions. Not to mention she is being given almost no home care, medication that barely helps, and is in pain- screaming and crying trying to just sit up. This hospital is awful.

  • Carol Baskin

I came in and was treated by almost every staff member with professionalism n kindness. The ER team was awesome as they assessed my needs n guided me to the fifth floor where the day nurses were very kind. Justina,Petra and Eapna on 5G is fantastic. Martha who comes around n ask if everything going well was very pleasant n kind as well. To all who took care of me was out of this world with mercy n goodness. Dr Ahmed explained everything for me clearly upon my discharge. Nuclear medicine team was awesome made me laugh.Thank you All.

  • Alondra D. Ramos

My sister and I came in and I observed everything. They are extremely unprofessional. I was feeling sick my self. When I got into the second waiting room, they started calling for my sister who was in a different waiting room. I found it to be completely disorganized. In the second room, a doctor was walking around and when they asked him what he was looking for, he just replied, "Oh nothing, just walking around.". The room was filled with complaints. It was 12am and some people where there since 5pm. Who is running this place?

  • cgarcia755

My patient experience here was horrible on this particular day because of a run in with Dr. Medina. I needed assistance with directions, but she was offended because I reached out to touch her. How did such a person get to the level as she did treating people this way? You have a very unpleasant, rude , misguided leader running this hospital. I will make sure to NEVER EVER return here, until she is replaced with some else with more of a kind heart and who cares more about the patients and workers who come here.

  • Stanley Myers

Emergency room registration Sabrina H. Is the rudest person I have come across in years. She is so short when speaking to everyone. She has no business dealing with customers, she has no customer service qualities at all. She can't speak Spanish so she couldn't help anyone that spoke Spanish without calling someone on the phone. What a poor decision by management to have her deal with anyone. She should be working in janitorial department. The Harris health security female working with her is just as bad.

  • Chanel A

I just have a comment about the homeless making the medical center difficult?….. why don’t we help our homeless more? Do more for them? I mean people discuss them like they are throw seats. Kinda like my pit bull being a rescue dog. He was already beat so much he constantly trembles for no reason. So we put em to sleep?! Rediculous at best! Help them instead of judge them or fear them. They are just like u and I and both of us could be in their shoes in a n.y. Min.

  • Wanda Koutougeras

The ER personal are rude. I brought my grandson here cause he has no income and insurance. I am a nurse for 36 years and have never seen the unprofessional staff that I saw today. I understand they deal with a lot of people but after all they are in the Healthcare profession. A smile and human kindness goes a long way. The security guard very very rude. I said excuse me sir 3 times before he finally acknowledged me when at the time I was the only one there

  • Kaia Davis

My mom here 7am until 3h for scan, I wait, wait…and wait .they say wait 45min but they don’t let my Mom in and when My Mom next ,she want go restroom but the Nurse ask me?where my mom? I say wait 2 minutes but she say no because she go restroom, she call another person. The way she do it’s not right, she attitude my Mom, the Nurse rule . I recommend for her know,in the future don’t do that anybody else.If you the nurse you have good heart and good person…

  • melissa s

They use to have doctor that seem to care, now it's worst than LBJ hospital. I had a whole panic attack after they stuck me in a room with a bunch of other people to get treatment. No one noticed or cared. Most nurses and doctors talked to you about your private information Infront of other patients. I rather stay at home in pain then go to this ER. SERIOUSLY to be in pain, have people who don't seem to care and uncomfortable is the worst.

  • AJ Munoz

I only put down one star because it wouldn’t let me do nothing the place is horrible the nurse says there’s one doctor for 50 patients I’ve been here since 2 o’clock in the afternoon it is already 3:28 in the morning and they keep telling me I’m just waiting to see the doctor so that way he can tell me what they’re gonna do. But in the meantime the nurses are sitting here just talking and talking and like it’s a social event

  • American Rags

If people would stop voting for Republicans, we would have better health care and people wouldn't have to use the emergency room for a doctor's visit which would leave Ben Taub Emergency Room for true emergency room needs. . . I don't blame the professional staff for their human behavior when overwhelmed with homeless patients as well as uninsured or underinsured patients who use the emergency room as a doctor's office.

  • Don Bustin

I LOVE Ben Taub because when I was born at St Joseph's Hospital I had Seizures and Brain Tumors. I have a long History of MENTAL ILLNESS. My Brothers made Fun of me. I even Beat up my Mother and my School Teacher. And I am responsible for scapegoating a Man (John Weigand) but I am afraid of Electroshock Therapy. The Weigand's know that my Family should have done something about this problem. I need an Intervention.

  • Arneshia Jones

Worse mental facility you can go to they make you stay in a dirty room all day with no circulation. Also, they only feed you Hamburgers and Lays Potato chips the whole seven days I was there. The staff shout out your diagnosis from across the room. Terrible mental facility do not send your family and friends there at all. I’ve been to another facility way better treatment like you’re a human being.

  • Shannon Hyles

If I could give -stars I would! My daughter was taken there over a week ago. She has Paranoid Schizophrenia and Multiple Personality disorder. She was in psychosis when she was picked up from home, she had stopped eating. I have talked to her almost everyday but today when I call to talk to her. They said she is no longer a patient and won't tell me if she was released or transferred.

  • Everett Wilson

My step daughter was taken here for IDD she was just put through an assembly line they say she is at base line but she cannot be if she does not know me or her mother she thinks it is 1980 and she does not even know who she is and case manager is something else just trying any group home that will take her to get her out of there she is combative but according to them she is ok

  • Saloumeh Ebrahimzadeh

Number one trauma center in Houston! second time in ER and I have to say they are amazing. They took care of my mom in the fastest way possible. great team! doctors and nurses are very caring. kudos to Dr. Pezeshkian and his team. Thank you for caring for my mom and made this unfortunate accident an smooth and comfortable visit for her

  • Michele Thomas

This place is sorry if I could give a 0 I would. My daughter went with injured knee and bloodclot they told her couldn’t help her after seeing social worker. We sit almost 5 hours mostly homeless people these are who the hospital consist of they check out and check right back in. If your not homeless or have a mental disorder don’t go.

  • K. Deras

My mother is law was 9 and a half weeks pregnant and left in an ER room without any medical attention while she bled on herself for 3 hours straight. No one ever came into the room to even speak with her, period. However, was assisted within 20 minutes of being in the ER of Women’s Center of Texas. Do not take your loved ones here!!!

  • Yussuf abdulkadir

I came to the emergency room for my Mom. They registered her fast but kept us for over 5hrs to see a doctor, still the doctor hasn’t showed up. I don’t know why they are here for. They seemed they don’t care at all. I have never seen like this . I wish I could rate them 0. We had to leave with out any treatment.

  • Gabrielle

A homeless mentally ill man got ahold of my number and uses their phone to call me nonstop. It’s horrible. I’ve asked them to do something or see what can be done about letting the homeless use their property to repeatedly harass people and the operator woman I spoke to practically laughed in my face.

  • joseline picado

I had a very good experience from when I went to the emergency room until I had my wrist surgery and postoperative consultations. The doctor has been super kind to me and all the staff who treated me. I am very grateful for the great effort they make to take care of everyone Thank you!❤️ …

  • Marina Deese

I’ve never been to this place, but based on the fact that they have called me several times at this point, thinking I am one of their patients shows their lack of organization. Delete my number and maybe figure out your actual patients information huh. Annoying and unprofessional.

  • Alejandra Zuniga

This place it’s really good All the doctors were very kind. I arrived crying because of a health problem. They helped me and I returned home healthy. They were kind. They treated me. The hospital has many basic things and is clean above all. great hospital ❤️ …

  • Tati Soza

Thank you so much for saving my father’s life! I will forever be grateful to all the medical professionals for taking care of him.. forever grateful and thankful … May GOD bless your career with health, abundance and happiness … a million thank youuuusss

  • David Amador

they couldn’t help my poor little sister when she was sick and she almost ended up passing away, and the staff there are really rude and disrespectful to their clients, I personally don’t recommend this hospital to anyone , unless you have a death wish

  • Josh Drake

Bless this place. They saved my life. Cardio thoracic surgery team is top notch. ICU nurses kept me alive and took care of me after surgery. ER team and shock room team too. Nurses in 5g y’all are awesome. Love you all!!! Highly recommend Ben Taub!!

  • Richa Das

Worst hospital I've ever been to. Waited with my friend for over two hours for her appointment and no one had seen her yet at the time of this review, there was no one at the front to help. How does a hospital even operate like this?

  • Jamillah Locks

I have had my B/P checked, 1 EKG, 3 blood draws. Doctor said he called my name. I have held my urine. The. EMERGENCY ROOM is very loud. Security and The Police are loud. Came in for Cardiac problems. Things need to get Better!!

  • Martha Gutirerrez

After 9pm we are directed outside because the lobby is closed, in the HEAT! I NEVER in my life had a situation like that. Discusted. I hope the CEO finds out about his great customer service and hospital policies.

  • Alexus Johnson

This hospital sucks, if u have mental problems don't go here. They will lie on record to have you committed somewhere. If u have to go to a hospital, make THIS ONE THE LAST one u go too

  • ethan barbee

I live in Houston and Mexico. There's a city hospital where I live in Mexico, but nothing like Ben Taub. Ben Taub is a magnificent trauma hospital and does everything else quite well.

  • Aloba Kehinde

This is the worse hospital to have your baby! As a C-section mom..... my post parturm recovery was horrible most especially with the night nurses!!!!!! And very dirty place.....

  • lucia castro

Don’t deliver your baby here ! I just to tell people to come here but i has changed alot ! 5 hours just to get registered and did not even get checked! Very disappointed!

  • Rebecca Jones

The entire Emergency department crew are super awesome. Nurse and doctors are very caring about their patients. Greatly appreciate Melchor and Jones Family

  • T B

Horrible, yank IV's out of arms and shoot blood across the room and tell you to be quiet because there are others in the hospital worse off. Despicable.

  • Ghassan

Very good all staff, all helping from the ER to the 5th floor to the labcathe to the 6 th floor stress test ,thank you for all to do god bless you

  • Yannick Nguedjouo
