This store has been one of my favourite shops with its decent range of selections. However recently I ordered a book with an ETA about 2 weeks. When it finally arrived, the book cover has been damaged due to the natural of its material used. When I tried to clarify this with one of staff members, a tall young worker, he had the worst cbf attitude whilst trying to explain the cause of the damage. If you are showing your customer the image of “you don’t want to be here”, then maybe you shouldn’t work here at all. Do not damage the reputation of a good bookstore with your negative work ethics. Mind you none of the other staff members have provided such poor customer service ever.

Great fun looking store located inside Macquarie centre. Big range, only seem to be one staff member working there including based at the payment counter which didn't seem to matter {to me}. They have a number of armchairs to use while reading in the store. At the time I was there it was school holidays: children in there at the time were seated on the floor, which meant having to step around them while browsing which I didn't mind. Not sure what improvements IF any are needed i would suggest. DEFINITELY i would go there again, if i need to. ‍♂️

Next to the library, this is my happy place. Surrounded by a great selection of books and other reading material. Not to mention the quirky gifts. I'm keen to get Bowie Bingo for my friend who loves Bowie and is turning 60 next year. There is something for everyone here. It was really nice to see people of all ages here too. One particular enthusiastic and articulate young person very much impressed me. So nice to see.

This is my favourite book shop hands down. It has such an inviting atmosphere with little trinkets scattered throughout the shop, inviting you to discover something while you’re browsing. The staff are over the top helpful - I love it! I recently had some items gift wrapped and I was pleasantly surprised with how they looked. Not many places now give you a silky ribbon!

My visit yesterday (15/12) was ok. Why only ok? The aisles are too close together. There's a touch too many books on each shelf. Too many book spines on show as opposed to the book covers. Visiting a book shop should be a relaxing affair - this wasn't. There's no doubting the quality and quantity of the books. Normally I make at least one purchase. Yesterday I didn't.

Beautifully presented shop with a fantastic selection of box, imaginative children's toys and gifts. Great layout of children's picture books in particular - you can find a great gift for any kid's birthday party here. Very friendly and accommodating staff who know their books and are happy to help parents avoid a tantrum by putting a book "on hold for next time"!

Yesterday, my partner and I watched a woman who was walking into the store set off the alarm at the entrance, then proceeded to submit to a bag check. We were about to head to the front counter to make some purchases, but decided against this due to what we saw. What kind of store policy has a condition of entry to submit to a bag check? For shame.

It is a small book shop with a choice of books focusing on easy reading. Nothing sophisticated, just your common fast-books. Decent sections for gifts and children's books. They have a 'second hand' books section which is a fraction cheaper than the 'full price'. But chairs there are comfortable, so can't complain, it's a good to have section.

Always a wonderful bookstore to get immersed in. They are community minded, and organise events like story reading and book clubs. They have excellent staff, and if you can't find what you're looking for on the shelves, they can certainly order it in for you! They also have a great range of gift products and associated niceties to peruse.

Harry Hartog Macquarie is my local bookstore and it never fails to surprise me. The staff are lovely and treat you with respect and will always gladly help you when looking for something, the possibility of also finding a gem of a book is highly likely. Cannot recommend more if you are around Macquarie

Hi Harry, thx for providing us with such a nice place to hang around with. My toddler son loves your place. Your selection of books are awesome as well, you provide lots of varieties and a great selection to look. Great place to find a gift or to add to our little library :)

Charged for a book we didn’t buy, took me 3 visits and heated arguments to get a refund. To their credit the manager eventually went to check video from 2 weeks ago and admitted the mistake. Surely more training for those new staff will benefit the shop in the future.

A really cool bookshop that has a really interesting variety of books. It also has a really comfortable and cosy rest area, with a small library for anyone to read from. A really nice and happy environment, going here is an experience, it's more than just a shop.

Wide range of books. Also have games, cards, wrapping paper etc. They have a a bit of a setup out front of their store where they sell 2nd hand books and records. It's really cool I love the chill vibe this store has, can just sit down and skim through a book.

  • Mohammed Mohammed Ali

It's got books, lots of them. The 3 Old rugged leather chairs right outside the store are a nice touch. Staff are very nice. Lots of cool quirky knick knacks as well. Prices for the books I bought were pretty good too. Solid book store I reckon.

An excellent bookshop for a variety of reasons. Not the largest, or with the biggest range, but Harry Hartog's has a superb collection of children's books, well laid out so children themselves can see, choose and read. Staff picks can guide

Always a great experience being here. A wide range of new and used books, great decor, friendly customer service and all the more better for book lovers. Better than going to dymocks as this place has comparatively more character and style.

4.7 - Fell in love with this bookstore on Saturday - they stock some of the most amazing and inspirational books. They also have a second-hand book section in the front of the shop, where people can relax and read in big leather armchairs.

Always been a favourite of mine, Hartog has a great range of books, and even discounted second-hand books. They can even buy your books, by appointment on Tuesdays, which is helpful if you're an avid reader. They also have a modest

Best bookstore I've ever been to. They've put effort into making this place stand out in a beautiful way. Such a cozy atmosphere but still so big and lots of variety! & sometimes they play minecraft tracks (please never stop)

This is a beautiful store with a nice ambience (visually very stunning) but I didn't have a very good experience this morning unfortunately. I went to pick up a book I had on hold. I had it gift-wrapped (free unless you

One of the few bookstores left that has a large selection of books set in a very relaxed atmosphere. Lots of reading places to plonk your weary feet down and get lost in your books. Very nice and helpful staff.

  • Ravi Samaranayake

Great book store. The staff are tremendously helpful, whether it's tracking down a book in store or ordering one in for you. This is exactly what you want from this type of establishment! Thanks Harry Hartog!!

I absolutely love this bookstore! They have a wide selection of beautiful books, and the store's layout is lively and fun. Every time I go, I just don't want to leave.

A wonderful bookstore with large selection of children books and a second hand section outside. There are beautiful curated gift items. Staff are always friendly.

  • Chris Johnson

The staff are always friendly and happy to help find what you are looking for. The shop is nicely laid out and usually has a good selection of books.

  • Liz Banks

Just about the best book store I've even been in. Absolutely huge selection, plus they had I book I couldn't get anywhere else, not even online.

  • Susan Zuzarte

Great selection of books and various ethically made gift items. Great to see an independent looking store in a major shopping centre.

  • Fifi D

A beautiful book shop with old world feels! Needs a coffee shop next! Staff knowledgeable and friendly! Favourite store, ever!

Nice shop in Macquarie. Good variety of books. Thought the store aisle is a bit narrow to push a pram around.

  • Patrick Spiers

Great space, awesome selection of interesting books. Good knowledge of kids books. Quite relaxing too.

  • Julie Lu

Really nice book store. Just be aware they don’t do refund (even if book is still wrapped in plastic).
