This review would offer a mixture of stars. Initial Grab as you walk past is absolute. The entry Five Stars. Meandering through on a Monday night was spell bounding, Inside to the rear the central wet bar continues. Lined by booths one side of the bar, seating with window framed openings is like you have your own bar in your private booth. Seated bar locations the other, mixing the remainder of the venue with stylish chairs.Somewhat like a lounged cigar bar, without the cigars. Lined with Melbourne redbrick walls, additional creativity from hardwoods timbers, irons, glass, leathers, velvets result in shimmers of sexyness. I had knocked off on star, only because I was thirsty this Monday night, and anxiety kicked in when only one bar attendant, (Talented, none the less) was overcome with shots orders and multiple mixed and built drinks. So excited finding The Holy Grail, I began Pushing the venue's website and location to some friends. Unsure about the sound on both sides of the venue, however the speakers and driving gear may need a review. Sound levels lifting from one song to another might be the fingers of the DJ, Barman. Seeing the wall mounted two ways installed differently, makes me think there's an issue with equal frequency spreading into the bodies of patrons. Good Job getting my attention, none the less. I did stay for close to 4hours, and would do the same again. Cheers to the Holy Grail.!

Had an extremely rude security guard assume I was sleeping while i was scrolling through my TikTok waiting for my friends to get back, as if my phone screen wasn’t glaring, but whatever, I just told him I wasn’t sleeping. Then my friends come back, and I’m hugging one of them, again he assumes I’m sleeping, my eyes are wide open, I’m talking with my friends. He comes up to me, threatens to kick me out?? If, instead of rudely coming up to me whenever he had the opportunity, he actually took a second to notice I WASNT sleeping, we wouldn’t have had any issues. Instead he decides to be rude and threaten me. Not worth the money alongside the stench of smoke filling up the place.

This was my first visit to this particular Holy grail establishment and I must say I expect to become a frequent flyer. Immaculate provision of service towards customers provided by Lilly. The menu was both expansive and captivating. Lilly knew precisely how to tailor to our specific needs with great attention to detail. The dining area was splendidly presented with ample indoor and outdoor seating options. I must say, as the drink connoisseur that I am, I was blown away by how Holy grail Chapel street has by far surpassed any expectation I had set. Again, many thanks and congratulations to Lilly for her graceful and virtuosic hospitality and a well deserved 5 stars.

We are locals and Holy Grail regulars and usually love the place, but our experience tonight was abysmal. Male bartender with long blonde hair and glasses was rude and unprofessional and untimely - asked for cocktails and told us they weren’t serving them anymore however served others cocktails soon after. Was smug and unprofessional, overheard them making rude comments and jokes afterwards behind the bar about me and my friends. Was sober (had one drink for the whole night), seems like the only reason for being refused service is that he couldn’t be bothered making a cocktail at the time.

Truly a special bar with special bartenders you can trust to look after you like family, but they actually like you. The safest place to drink as a solo woman on Chapel street - not uncommon to leave with a new group of friends though (and a enemy or two - for the plot). Smells like an old bookshelf in the library of a chain-smoking widow in the 60s, I can’t get enough. One chartreuse and your worries will melt away …go on

La La Group should be smarter with regard to who they employ on the bar. Accusing would be patrons of fraud, i.e. presenting a fake Vic license, is not empathetic customer service. And after a moronic bartender's boss scans the license and verifies it, there should be an apology. Maybe time for a hospitality attitude refresher course? Meantime, the good news is that there are so many other options in the area.

Bouncers were pretty rude to us when we wanted to come in with pizza boxes (weren’t gonna eat them just carrying from dinner before). Fair enough if we couldn’t bring them in completely respect the policy but don’t have to be so rude and unkind about delivering that message. Great cocktails, cute bar, really great bar staff. No a huge fan of the smoking room. Doesn’t really seem right smoking inside. Sat further in though where there was no smoking which was great. Had a cute little booth, which had a light you switch on when you want service. Love it. We actually left, had dinner and went back. The rounds weren’t cheap but the cocktails were great.

The live Band Was amazing, the girl (golden heart) at Bar, really knows her job. Perfect in preparation and very quick. Always have welcoming smile makes her stand out of the crowd. The Ambiance of the bar is really cool from inside and a perfect place to hang out in a cozy place. Also the people everyone was cool. It made my night.

A very pro-smoking bar with lots of smokers at the front area and even selling cigarettes at the car! The back part is separated by glass doors however, and the whole vibe of this large bar is fancy and olde-worldy and a change of scenery from most Melbourne bars. Drinks are fairly expensive though so be prepared to settle in and sip slowly!

Came here for a jug. Overpriced as everything is, however couldn't get a jug because the jugs were "broken" according to the bartender. Bartender tried to insist this was a better deal, however we all know a jug contains more booze than two pints. Nice try. If you don't provide jugs, don't advertise jugs. Two stars for the outside heaters.

Called in for a post dinner drink. The service was really good, and I ordered a margarita which was great. The margarita was delicious, and I scored a seat on a stool at the front which was great for people watching lol There is a lot of seating inside and the bar looks like a an old American western style bar. Overall it was a nice place.

One of the most atmospheric venues on Chapel St, the interior design provides a great rustic atmosphere. The drinks are creative, reasonably priced, and most important of all - delicious! Staff are friendly and service is top notch (particularly from Cody). Highly recommend!

love this venue, the security are always so nice here compared to other bars. The drinks are at an average price but the drinks range is 10/10 (love that they have the full range of redbull flavours). the inside of the venue is designed to look like a ship and makes it a unique and fun place to visit on your night out

Great service, great drinks. Atmosphere is so unique with couchs and cool comfortable sitting areas. Insence was a little stong but we sat quite close to the front. Plenty of ways around it. Highly recommend for a relaxing drink in that arvo. Happy hour was fun :)

Very cool bar to hang out at. I've never been there before and it looked cool from the outside so a friend and I decided to pop in for a drink. Great vibe, interesting decor made up of reclaimed timber and decorative screens. We had the choc passionfruit Martini which was really impressive. Great work guys

Holy Grail is the perfect spot for first dates or low-key catchups with its plush couches and moody lighting. It's best to snag a booth if you can. Their mulled wine is the perfect way to warm up on a cold winter night.

One of the better bars on Chapel St. Good selection of seating from outdoor to front of bar smoking section (semi indoors), then a seperate back section with booths and more relaxed seating. Good cocktails, good staff, good loose vibes, it's a banger really. Probably in my top 5 along the street.

Great cosy vibes love the unique ship theme! The best thing is how delicious and drinkable the cocktails are. They also have a great happy hour to check out. Love the dessert styles and fruity cocktails. They don’t do proper food though!

I had my 40th lastnight here at Holy Grail. The place is not pretentious and you can actually hear yourself talk to your guests. The owner of the bar was very accommodating, finding a spot for my 15 guests. A special thankyou to Tony for an amazing night at your establishment.

Went in late at around 12 for a friend's birthday drinks and the bartender was more than happy to serve us drinks and even shout "happy birthday". Personally I had a martini it was one of the best martini I've had. Not the cheapest but definitely worth your money.

They allow smoking in the front room which stinks out the back room as they refuse to close the doors in-between. When asked why there is smoking they said its a porch area.. um no its an enclosed front room and should not allow smoking.
