I absolutely love Indigo, I've been shopping at this location for over a decade... Until now. I called the store in regards to exchanging an item I'd received as an early birthday gift, I explained that I didn't have a gift receipt. The first person on the phone was fine, and then Laura (the manager) reiterated some return policy stating that she wouldn't even issue a credit. I know this isn't a real policy as I called head office, and I called multiple stores on the other end of the city (even their policy online states you can receive a credit without a receipt). Honestly I could even live with the policy if it wasn't for the behaviour in-store. My niece was at the store while I called (she was too nervous to go up and ask) and witnessed Laura aka Karen going off about me just asking about the policy, and having a hernia when the other agent asked if they could just do the exchange. This was in front of other customers, how unprofessional and embarrassing. I guess Karen got sick of asking for the manager and decided to just become one. Someone should remind Karen that there's other bookstores (and sadly Amazon) and the main reason why people go to brick and mortar stores is for the experience, and once the experience in store turns sour it ruins that experience. So why would Indigo need to keep Karen employed when they could just sell books online?

ESG and DIE meet customer satisfaction ... and fail. Miserably. Remember the days when people were hired based on their ability to do a job? Me too. Seems like those days are behind us. Chapters / Indigo provides a prime example of hiring policies where incompetents run the show. Simple story and short. I placed an online order. They charged me. Fine. Three weeks later I had to go looking (the online rigamarole) to see whether my book was ready to be picked up. It had been there for two weeks. Did I receive an e-mail notification or even a telephone call? No. When I wrote a note of complaint, they simply cancelled my order. Idiots. One simple transaction, not rocket science. Wouldn’t be a big surprise it they go out of business. They’ve certainly lost mine.

Chapters is a great bookstore. Its always nice to even walk and browse. Good selection of gift items too. Bonus is Starbucks is attached.Update 02/2023. This location beside the Landmark theatre in the SE is being changed to a Good Earth Cafe. They are another great coffee chain. Excited for that. Followup 10/2023. Good earth is up and running and there's something calming about a bookstore with coffeehouse connected. Coffee is great and the selection of books for discount or reduced price is very good this week. Arnold Swartzeneger, Patrick Stewart and Adam Shoalts new books are all offered for one price reduction or another. Worth the visit and enjoy your next good read.

I love it there, although I struggle to read a book myself (from anxiety and depression alone). I was with my sister in law and 6 yr old niece and was looking for 2 specific books my niece wanted ...the computers were down so I couldn't lOok up if the book was in stock or not ...a SUPER kind friendly store employee explained where the books were and after 4 or 5 min of not finding it the kind lady came to help and alas, they were hidden behind other books...it's uncanny sometimes to know where a particular book is located off the top of one's head! QUITE IMPRESSED !!

Great store, but they have a lot of fluff and left-wing books, but i repeat myself. Only one side of the political spectrum (the left) is sold in any of these stores. They have a lot of woke sci-fi, and it's hard to find the mainstays like Robert Heinlien, Isaac Azimov , Frank Herbert, etc. They need to bring in authors from the other end of the political spectrum like Neema Parvini, Paul Gottfried,Bertrand de Jouvenal, Arnold Toynbee, Oswald Spengler for history. For Sci Fi authors like Vox Day, John C Wright, Jerry Pournelle, A E Van Voght.

Haven't been to Indigo in such a long time, it felt like coming home. I needed some help on how to order a book using an Indigo gift card, and the customer service representative was very nice. She used her own phone and went through the procedure step by step to show me what I need to do to order online and send as a gift. I wandered around the store and marvelled at the merchandise available for gift giving, all at reasonable prices. I made note of a few items and I'm planning to go back for them. All in all it was a favorable experience.

Great selection of books and staff are very helpful when you can find them. As a family we especially enjoy their kids selection of books. Its very clever of them to have toys in the kids section as well. We usually go for books but always end up buying a toys as well :) It was fun when Starbucks was open and you could get a coffee and then browse around for books but due to COVID it isn't set up that way anymore. I am hoping once the covid is over it will go back to the same way.

So love indigo but the people who work at the good earth are unhappy and were bothered by me trying to pick what I wanted, it was bad enough I didn't even order something to eat. I just wanted to leave, even though I needed to eat something before my cancer treatment I can say that I will never go back to any Good Earth other than the one at the rockyview. Maybe this staff should see how to give customers service and visit the hospital store!

They have some very good books but DO NOT take my sister to this book store because she will take ing forever to pick out one book or no books at all. I love this store but it is too interesting to teenage girls especially thoose who think they are like an average book reader but never read any of the books they buy. This so nothing againist the store this is just a rant about my sister.

Ok store. They have really changed and are less of a book store and more of a nick nack store. Lots of stationary supplies and home goods. Toys and games. Their book selection has really declined, most titles need to be ordered online and picked up in store. Their pickup system isn't the best, they seem to be working on very old computers and have a difficult time finding packages.

Went looking for a city road atlas because I'm Gen X ('nuff said). Met Patrick who's been there since this location opened 25 years ago. Nice guy and really knows the store! Parking isn't a shitshow, Starbucks still there, and it's nicely easy to navigate. Bookstores and libraries are the dying beat of society's grace. Go. Today.

  • The Travel Playbook

One of the best location of Indigo store. The place is quite huge and has good ambiance which leans towards learning or reading something new. The have good options for books for all genre. The interior design is pretty interesting and unique especially towards the walls. Staff are also quite helpful and friendly enough.

I've been in a few Indigo stores in the City and this one might be the nicest in terms of set up. It was a pleasure to shop in. They could have had a few more people available on the floor as I did have a question but ended up finding what I was looking for on my own after a bit of time.

  • Ray Adams

this shop is wonderful but the employee Patrick is one of the kindest most passionate workers there! every time I go he helps and if he can't, he offers suggestions where I find some of my favourite books! literally always brings a smile to my face!! he always goes above and beyond. :))

With everything digitalized in the world, and books dwindling, this is one store, I'm surprised to still find lots of books. There is something magical about physical books, reading, and relaxing in a bookshop. Loved this store, compared to other Indigo stores.

  • Bogdan Pankovsky

Great store with many many books for everyone and any age with different interests. Also it has a lot of holiday stuff and great interesting things to buy. Very great and nice store. You can even find all the books on a computer installed in the store.

  • Summer

It was nice with a wide store, pleasant atmosphere, various books, and a café together. There weren't many diary options, but there were still some pretty ones. I'll visit again. I like it more than the downtown location because it's spacious.

  • Kayla Adam

I like the recent renovation they done and they have a good layout. The only thing that was annoying was that all of their computers to search thing were out of order so I had to go up front and wait in line to ask where a book was.

  • Victor Law

The store is so clean and bright. It is well-organized with steady traffic, but still quite tranquil. There are some deals to be had if you look around. Otherwise, you have a huge variety of books to enjoy!

  • B Fong

Your local Chapters Indigo shop in Shawnessy area. Just be careful when parking as its a busy area. Looks like they shrunk the store compared to the size from 5 years ago. New coffee shop beside it.

  • Curtis Evert

It is nice to go into a large bookstore and browse. I was looking for a particular book which I knew they had one copy left. The staff graciously help me find it. Nice store, nice staff.

  • Candace Prather

Good Earth, locksmith with cool dog fixing the door. Great latte, with art, did not cry, nor did I go to chapters. Some guy already there. Whatever.... Oh, ya, that.

  • Suzanne Hillenga

Nice place, but books are rare to use. The place is filling up with house items. Expensive unless you find a deal or discount.

  • Jamil

It's one of the best around town. Great variety of books, and it was easy to find what I was looking for.

  • Tanis Silbernagel

Big bookstore, but they have leas and less books every year. A nice place to look for manga though.

  • Derek Smith

Great store but not enough depth in non-fiction, technology and business. Too much fluff lit.

  • Jiri Doucette

Great atmosphere friendly staff, great coffee shop. Convenient entrance.

  • Rachel Hofsink

Beautiful store with so much variety in gift ideas and of course books.

  • Azusa Hirota

Very pretty store:) organized and wide! Love this store’s collections.

  • Ashraf Masadeh
