Saturday, June 24th, 2023 2 adults at 1:00pm-2:15pm For free tickets online prior to arrival Street or garage parking for a fee, we parked in the garbage, just simply drive in with no ticket, later enter your vehicle tag number and location number posted on signs at their lobby machine or website, we paid $3 for 4 hours, then simply drive out. A lot of people were taking the stairs and we saw a slide for the children to use instead of stairs. We learned about this art exhibit via Miami New Times paper while enjoying a nearby park, you get free tickets on their website or in person. The exhibit consisted on 3 floors with 3 artists, it had elevators, cool ac, bathrooms, benches, plenty of space, friendly employees/volunteers, lovely outdoor seating, and museum/book store. They provide complementary in-person and virtual tours at specific times for those interested. The neighborhood seemed nice and we’ll be back to walk around when it’s not so humid/hot. This was such an unexpected pleasant surprise that ended our beautiful Saturday on a high and inspired note. Thanks ICA Miami!

Came for the art, stayed for the stoic kitty meditating by the garden sculpture. I appreciated the more contemporary pieces, but didn't care so much for what seemed more like historical artifacts - such as the journals with cutouts from other magazines pasted in. This seemed more like a glimpse into what making an album or a modern journal was like in the 80s, than like art. The 9/11 install took my breath away. It was like looking at a long forgotten piece of my own past AND it didn't feel archival like the journals. Bonus points for the cat in the back. Was the most artistic exhibit there, even if it was unintentional. Said a lot about the culture, the politics surrounding animal control, and the internalized biases we carry as humans that art cannot be appreciated by animals. Artist unknown.

A really fantastic find in Miami. The parking garage across the street is as much a work of art as anything inside the gallery, and has pretty cheap pricing for Miami. Inside the gallery they have a wonderful assortment of pieces and artists. I will say, however, be aware of some of the pieces they have on display, as some may be a bit too suggestive or intense for younger visitors. This is not a drawback, but parents should do their homework. While we're at it, they have a wonderfully fun scavenger hunt for little kids, that really helped my child get into it and everyone ended up having a wonderful time. The staff is very attentive and very friendly, and went will above and beyond what they needed to for us to have a great time. In a few months it looks like the pieces will rotate and I cannot wait to go back again to see what is on display.

This museum is located in Midtown Miami and I think that visiting it can be a very nice break from the bustling life of this area. The museum has 3 floors with both permanent and special exhibitions but is somewhat small. However, there is a lot of different art on display, and everything is very well explained. They also have an outdoor garden with sculptures, but we didn’t check it out: the weather was insanely hot that day, and we already had taken our share of heat by reaching the museum via public transportation (we got to Miami by taking advantage of a special offer of Brightline). The entrance to the museum is free, but you have to order your tickets online in advance. Parking is very difficult to find.

Yes it's free, but honestly not worth the creepy harassment and mask-policing from what seems to be a very bored staff. Huge open space, maybe 10 to 15 people in the entire building, and they watch you for the slightest slip down of your mask past your nose IN 2022 when no other establishment in Miami is doing this. I had a lady stomp over across the room to lecture me about covering my nose correctly with the mask-- a very extreme reaction considering I was standing with 3 friends at least 20 feet away from anyone else, and my mask was on. She then followed me for the rest of the time I was on that floor. It's nonsensical, performative and unwelcoming. Clearly they have a few neurotics on their board that are pushing them in this direction, likely motivated by politics and not by science.

We went on a Saturday early afternoon, it wasn’t busy at all which was nice. The museum is free, but there is still an annoying and convoluted process to get a QR code “ticket” while you’re standing at the lobby desk before you enter. There are apparently 3 floors of galleries. Only the first floor and outside garden were open the day we went. The exterior of the parking garage has a large installation on its facade, and truthfully, that was the most interesting aspect of the experience.

Great place to visit in the Design District. I do not know that it is necessary a destination museum, but still very much worth visiting and there are some great pieces on display. It’s also free so there really isn’t any room for criticism. The building itself is incredible and I’d definitely be back when there are different exhibitions. When visiting, my favorite was highlighting Cuban art Tomas Esson. They also have some of the most organized covid precautions I’ve seen anywhere. The galleries have a logical one way flow. You also need to book tickets online ahead of time for controlled, timed entry.

  • Ed Barry

It's free. 3 floors and a sculpture garden with 4 questionable sculptures..so full disclosure I don't like 99.9% of modern art. It strikes me as people cleaning out their garage or closet or putting up 2nd grade art projects from a refrigerator door to a grander scale. Of you're into it maybe it's a 3 or 4. I've been to many Museums of Modern art so on a comparison basis it's in the lower end. But I admit to and own my bias. Out of respect for the artists and copyright i would never post pictures. If it's your thing please go see it. It's free.

  • Patrick Davies

A small collection of contemporary art. I believe most of it is rotating. If you do NOT care for contemporary art or you "don't get it", then this is NOT for you. I don't care for all contemporary art, but I think I'm alone. I found several enjoyable pieces, it was worth the free visit. Nicely laid out and displayed. Recommended for anyone who has a love for some type of contemporary art. They probably have something for you.

My recent visit to Institute of Contemporary Art, left an indelible mark on my soul. The museum's commitment to displaying contemporary art that challenges perspectives and invokes deep contemplation is commendable. Moreover, the overall curation and presentation of the museum were outstanding. The artworks were thoughtfully arranged, allowing for a seamless narrative that guided visitors through a journey of introspection and emotional connection. My tour guide, Angelica, was wonderful and the third floor my favorite part.

  • Shiki Dixit

Not super huge but a free and great museum! Had 3 floors with about 10-15 pieces of art per floor as well as an outside area with a few sculptures. The museum has wifi and we saw an individual even working outside on their laptop! The art pieces were very interesting and for the most part, seemed to have a deeper message hidden within. The ICA complements the Miami Design District perfectly!

Cool museum in the heart of the design district. Interesting facade out front and the layout inside is conducive to wandering around and admiring the pieces. It was free due to a sponsorship when we went. Only thing is you have to reserve tickets on your phone for a time slot when you get there which is a minor annoyance but worth it to see the museum.

I can't believe after all these years living in Miami, it was only recently that I visited the ICA Miami. I have officially added this place to my favorite places in Miami, and places to take anyone who visits me from abroad. I enjoyed the art, the space, the exhibition, the outdoor sculpture garden. Staff was courteous and safety measures where in place due to the pandemic (social distance, mask wearing, limited number of visitors etc). The best part, its free!

  • Colette St. Clair

I was expecting more of the museum. There were some interesting pieces and it is a cool place to take photos, but they lacked creativity and meaning. Some pieces were so hard to comprehend their meaning, and why they were even being showcased. Overall, it was a free attraction that was an interesting visit.

Absolutely worth the visit seeing as it is FREE!! Some nice works in there and I enjoyed the sculpture garden where you may take a seat in the shade and make friends with the lovely little cat that has been adopted by the museum! You ‘purchase’ the tickets online, this is just so they don’t go over capacity it is still free entry.

Overall not bad. Loved that the institute provides free entrance for guests and you can donate as whatever amount you like to. The exhibition on the first floor was the most captivating and shows more artistry while exhibition on 2nd and 3rd floor is more philosophical. Also great selection of unique souvenirs in the shop.

Easily our worst part of our Miami trip. The museum is super boring, with few pieces of artwork. On each floor, there are about 5-10 pieces, which are some of the most absurd pieces of artwork you will ever see. They are literally begging people to come, and are giving free tickets to go. If you have nothing to do, you can see my pictures instead, at least you will save time instead of finding parking.

  • Kati Anderson

It was nice that the admission was free, however, the art was only mediocre. The staff was annoying and practically followed you- it was weird. Only 3 of us were on the entire floor and 4 staff members. I pulled my mask slight away from my face to adjust and one staff member immediately reprimanded me without need. Another couldn't give me basic info about parking. Probably not worth the time.

  • Amy Mueller

Do not go if you are visiting prior to December 28th 2022, since almost the whole museum is closed. They only have one small section of the museum open, it’s honestly laughable. We walked through the whole thing in under a minute after paying a $30 Uber to visit. The museum should just be closed until all exhibits are open. At least put a notice on the website!

We highly recommend ICA museum in Miami. This is a break from your typical Miami scene. The museum entrance is free and displays important pieces of contemporary art . In my opinion, the experience is enhanced a million folds if you take a tour with one of the knowledgeable museum staff. We had Sofia for 1 hour who described the pieces and installations on the 3 floors of the museum.

  • Brian Saravia

Wonderful facilities, constantly up to date with the latest art concepts. Attention at the front desk is great and the shop has very interesting items to learn more about the current artist on the exhibition and decorate your home. Best time to attend is Saturday's afternoon. Is not that crowded. To park your car you mosr used the parking building or the side walk if you are lucky.

  • Dave Aitel

I rolled up to this place and they gave me a free ticket with my kids and frankly it was pretty awesome. It's not huge but how big do you want an art museum to really be? I don't know any other cool place like this where you can sort of see almost installations of statues. Even though they're not statues, there's something else. I don't even know what you call it art I guess.

  • heidemarie kremer

I just had a 1hour 15 minute tour at the museum by Sofia Lopez and it was amazing. Having such a guide opens the eyes for the art. She was so sophisticated and eloquent. This museum has a great selection of modern art that is food for thought. Time well spent. Daily tours start at 1 pm.

I loved all the exhibitions! It was so nice to meet the cute cat outside too. The museum is free which is a huge plus. My one complaint is there is not enough seating for disabled people. Those of us with chronic fatigue and chronic pain can’t stand for hours on end to look at art. I didn’t see any wheelchairs offered so I managed the best I could.

  • hejiranyc

Sadly, this is yet another institute that has gone toxically woke. Based on the exhibits, you would think only black artists merited exhibitions of their work. And, truth be told, so much of it was derivative and unoriginal. I hope someday we go back to a world where art is made and exhibited for the sake of art and not to fill some racial quota.

  • Raul Rolon

One of my favorite museums ever. Make sure to reserve your tickets ahead of time! It’s also in the Miami Design District, so you can walk around, get some coffee, look at the sights, etc. A must-see place in my humble opinion.

Thanks to sponsors, there is no entry fee for this contemporary art museum. Three floors with different styles and a small outdoor area with a few pieces and orchids. Great stop if you’re in the area. Floors were a bit dirty in the stairwells which surprised me. Otherwise, nice quick stop. And lockers available for no charge for bags, etc.

  • Cece Slays

Beautiful and neat entrance ....Nice museum different, but nice..I took my kids 2 weeks ago and they actually enjoyed it...They gave them a small bag of goodies to use while they were at the museum. It had like a magnifying glass and word scavenger hunt...They enjoyed it...They have a beautiful outside area where you can also take pictures.

Incredible museum of contemplating art. There are 3 floors, often with different exhibitions on each. Theres a lot of light and it's great to walk around. The sculpture garden outside is really nice. Also, admission is free! Definitely check it out - and you can combine with a visit to De La Cruz collection nearby.

  • Yvette Albelo

Very neat museum located in the design district. Best part is it's free! Just book your tickets online. Staff was accommodating to my nephew and niece and offered strollers. Exhibits change s couple times throughout the year. I highly recommend visiting if you are into seeing new and different contemporary art.

  • Mona MARDELLI ASSAF

I had a weird but very interesting and unique experience. Try the black room if darkness doesn't scare you. And one more thing: they have the largest elevator I've ever seen. Don't forget to use the stairs. Some very interesting glass paintings are hanging on the walls. Overall impression: interesting.

We went just after the reopening, so tickets were free but the exhibit was not very big. Although the art and artists displayed were very beautiful and interesting, there was not a abundance of pieces. Definitely worth the visit and we are looking forward to seeing what artists will be shown next.

  • Phong Nguyen (P Eddy)

Just visited ICA Miami yesterday and I was truly amazed by the arts and their arrangement. All the masterpieces are organized interestingly that lead us to the story seamlessly. Free admission, cool place, not so crowed and staffs are friendly, definitely one of the best places in town!

  • GG Wellness

Why isn’t the whole town at this great new museum? It’s free to get in, and the exhibits are very well put together with scholarly guides available for each. This sculpture in the gardens was so perfectly hypergrowth Miami that I just had to share. We will be back soon enough.

  • Medi Infinity

“Wokeism” and the desire to push a certain ideology down the throat of the masses all day every day has pretty much ruined the fabric and quality of modern art. Most of the art pieces here are pretty much political agenda void of any real creativity and “art”.
