JD's Bar & Grill Cronulla all round is pretty average - the atmosphere is good, but the positives end there. The service is okay, very minimal staff, but unfortunately the food was a massive let down. The first thing is the prices - expect $24-40 for a normal menu item & unfortunately what we had was not special at all. The buffalo chicken wings as an entree were quite nice, but the mains were less then satisfactory. For $33, the BBQ Pork Ribs were a massive let down - the basting was good enough but the ribs themselves were mainly just fat & had me feeling ill after. The chicken schnitzel was described as being dry & overcooked and unfortunately it didn't taste very well either, not worth the $24. Drinks were a half decent price but again, nothing special there. There's table service for delivering food, but everything needs to be ordered at the bar. For a place I've been meaning to try for some time, it was quite a let down.

We held a birthday party in the JDs “Deck” function room on the weekend, and we were so happy with everything. The booking process with Scott was straightforward, with clear pricing and a lot of flexibility. Everything was made so easy, and there were no hidden catches. On the night, everyone loved the room itself with its indoor area and two outdoor decks (one overlooking the mall), there was a space suiting everyone and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Robyn and the team looked after us so well. It wasn’t the biggest party ever in terms of numbers, but they treated us like we were. The food was excellent and generous, and the bar tab spot on. We were able to decorate the room, use the TV for slideshows, and had the option for a playlist (though we were happy to have the music supplied). And kids were also welcome (they can’t run amok, but all had fun). I would definitely recommend them for anyone looking for a party or function venue, we’ll be back!

Very unprofessional in the way Scott the manager deals with booking musicians to perform at the venue. An extremely late cancellation with a very lame excuse meant I couldn’t find a replacement job for the night. I had turned down 2 other opportunities because I had committed to this date. He then said future dates would have to be reconsidered, and he’d get back to us. Of course he didn’t. I often have gigs booked 12-18 months ahead, so had already blocked out those dates given to this venue. Of course I’m not holding them, but I have turned down other bookings already because I had given JDs those dates. Longer term I’ll be able to fill other vacant dates, but I lost a second night of work with a date close to the first one I wasn’t able to fill with limited time - but I had turned down other jobs for in the past for that date. Musicians being booked by Scott beware.

I had organized a surprise Anniversary Party at JD's for 80 people and it turned out amazing. Due to COVID restrictions I had to move the dates a few times but JD's especially Ben was very accommodating and very helpful. Ben was so helpful that he came in on his day off to let us in early to put some decorations up. The staff on the night were so helpful and friendly. Nothing was too hard for them. We pre-ordered meals for the party and all the meals came out on time and tasted amazing. All the guests commented how good the food was and good value for money and they will return again to the restaurant. Thanks Ben and all the staff for an amazing evening and all your help.

We had my sons 21st here for 100 people and everything was great. We had the outside area. The food was plentiful and delicious ( so much food that we couldn’t eat it all). We had our own bar outside with a good variety of beer and wine and the kids had a great night. Happy with the price and Jono and Robyn were very helpful the whole way through. I would totally recommend having a function here.

The food is average. It's a an acceptable pub type meal. The portion sizes are generous and seasoned well. The service from the (I'm assuming supervisor) was appalling. She was rude, dismissive, and, to be honest, aggressive. I was part of a large group, and we were well mannered and spoke respectfully, yet were still treated with hostility. You've lost some patrons due to this.

Came to Cronulla for a couple of nights and turns out most of the restaurants around here are closed on Tuesday (expect burgers or Thai) came across JDS on Google, had good reviews and a decent variety of options on the menu. Must say, the place had good music but wasn't lively at all (maybe coz the crowd was >60) anyway, the food was so good! And reasonably priced. I'm not a local so unsure why it wasn't busier. Thanks!

Went to JDs because previously it was cosy with fireplace during winter. Place was chilly, no fire on or warm air conditioning Asked lady who seemed to be in charged and she refused to put on fireplace -was quite dismissive Don’t go to have a cosy meal in winter - place is not like it used to be Are they saving on electricity? Don't bother: I was refused entry on Saturday evening following a heavy interrogation from a rude security guard. He questioned how much I'd had to drink, to which I answered honestly: 1 x mid strength XXXX beer. He either took offence to my request he use a more polite tone or what was more obvious, didn't appreciate I wore a Trump hat. I await a formal response from the bar manager.

New Year's Eve dinner. Delightfully quiet and diners respectful of each other. Service was very attentive and the steaks were great. Background music was at a volume that I didn't need to yell at the people I was with to be heard. A refreshing change to other venues we had left earlier in the evening due to diner behaviour.

Held a surprise 70th birthday for my husband. Everything was absolutely fantastic. Scott and his team were great to work with, food was excellent, service terrific. I couldn't fault anything, we all had a great time. Wouldn't hesitate to do this all over again once I regain strength !!!:)

Went to JD's last week and had tempura whiting, the dish was less than ordinary. The batter was so hard you had to crack it to get to the fish, which there was hardly any of! Maybe they should limit the menu and concentrate on cooking fewer things well! Wont be in a hurry to go back.

Great place for dancing if your plus 30 years old. Alot of older people but some young also in attendance. The music selection is generally of an old nature with some new ones thrown in the mix. Absolutely worth a visit and a drink with friends or family. You won't be disappointed!

Always a great night and with new owners, the service is better.

One of the few places i have been to in the shire where they can pull a beer. Always go down a treat. A shame that their veggie stack is more like a lasagne. Would love to see them put a nice grilled vegan option on. Definitely stop in for a beer.

Great night at JD's last Saturday. Ben and his team were welcoming and helpful, food and drinks were very good. Kylie on piano was brilliant, as always, and soon had the dance floor full and everyone singing along. Highly recommended.

Owner accused me of stealing food off a table. When I asked him to check the cameras because I said it was rubbish he just told me to leave and got security to escort me out. If he had checked cameras he could see I am no theif.

I've been to Cronulla many times but for the fact that this restaurant is on the second floor and the entrance is just one door I've never noticed it. Food is really good and huge!

Took my Mum there for a early arvo drink for her bday on a Thurs. They were barely open yet John was more than accommodating. Nice to have the swish outdoor deck to ourselves!

It was good. I enjoyed the live music but I would like them to bring back the DJ that played 8p's, 90's and 00's hits so we could dance.

Cocktails on the menu, was told no one knew how to make them and that the would not be available. Medium rare steak came out well done.
