When I walked into Jackson Sq Dentistry I was immediately at ease! The staff is so nice and the space is lovely - classic exposed brick, modest decor and great lighting. The woman at the front desk knew it was me when I walked in the door. She took my temperature and checked my blood oxygen levels to make sure I was healthy. Everyone was wearing masks. The X-rays were painless - something I DREAD - but the technician who helped me was super patient and quick! Then, Dr. Katz. What a nice guy! For the first time in my life, he told me I didn't really need anything! A previous dentist kept telling me I needed a filling but for some reason it just didn't sit right with me. Dr. Katz was like no, you don't need a filling. Why other dentists try to make you do unneeded treatment is beyond me (I get it $$ but just seems so beyond the oath) and how can we ever trust that we actually do need anything? Anyway, Dr. Katz completely earned my trust after trying three other dentists since I've live in San Francisco. I HIGHLY recommend him and all the technicians and staff at JSD!

Flossing my teeth on the weekend I popped a sliver of an old filling out. I wasn't in any pain, but I didn't want it to go there so I left a message for DR Katz's Team. They called me first thing Monday morning and accommodated me same day with a quick exam & clean out of my filling that now requires a crown. I was then scheduled to come back the following Monday to prep for my crown but I didn't have childcare. Their amazing Team said to bring them on in with me as the receptionists daughter would also be there. They kept my kids occupied and didn't seem to mind the interruptions when my kids needed me. My visit was quick and painless in more ways than one and my temporary is still holding strong until my next visit in a few days. Great dental care, team and I feel like family!

I don't remember how I stumbled upon this dentist, but I know I didn't read the reviews first. I probably wouldn't have gone. I'm so glad I'm here now, my whole family is! We've been coming here since 2015 and they treat us like family. Vi is the absolute best! Dr. Katz always remembers my kids that he hasn't even met! I thought they were trying to upsell me on a night guard but I finally caved and it changed my life! I don't even go on vacation without it. And once his crown fell out (it was a tooth I'd been complaining about) and he fixed for free. They've always worked with us on everything! Kim is amazing too! Always super honest and sweet. Their hygienists rotate, but I've never left upset and it's been almost 10 years!

The converted Jackson Square area brick building now houses fine art, there's soft modern jazz in the air, and the establishment is a back to front, top to bottom, side to side trustworthy practice. Dr. Katz practices state of the art dental and orthodontic medicine. The assistants aid him in his work with the highest degree of competence, and the hygienists offer profound yet straightforward to implement tips for dental health upkeep. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Katz and his amazing staff. What I can say is that I have never liked the dentist (anxiety, bad experiences, maybe my childhood dentist didn't have a treasure chest...) BUT Dr. Katz and his phenomenal staff have made me feel at ease, fixed other dentist's poor work and made me smile in the process. Instead of feeling dread when I go to the dentist, now I feel hope. Dr. Katz is truly remarkable! I'm new to the city and because I didn't have a good teeth cleaning habit in the past, my teeth overall are in a very poor condition, so I'm very picky and cautious on finding my dentist. From their willingness to come to work to replace a broken crown on a Saturday before I flew out of town, to their kindness to my daughters on their first visit to a grownup dentist. Great dentist with a high tech office. Dr. Katz believes in saving as much enamel as possible...you aren't going to grow more so it makes sense. He'll go to the trouble of keeping part of your tooth by creating a partial crown when other dentists might just give you a complete crown.

Liz is an amazing hygienist. She is very thorough and was the first person ever to show me the truly proper way to use dental floss, a water flosser, or an electric toothbrush. Knowing the truly proper way has dramatically improved my gum health
