Front desk staff are rude and not organised. New to the area, called to make an appt for our 4yr old to have his immunisations verified (just moved back from the US) when we called on Monday to make the appt they said they had nothing available, we said he was not sick only needed to bring his immunisation records in, to be verified & uploaded to Medicare. So he wouldn’t need to see the doctor, we could just hand them over to someone at the front desk. The lady than said “oh wait a minute can you come in Friday at 2pm?, being a new patient come in at 1:50pm to fill out a new patient form” Sure no problem. Come Friday we arrived a few minutes before 1:50pm. My wife went in ahead of my son and I, to get the new patient form. She waited in line, three people ahead of her checked in, come her turn she waited at the safe distant line while the front desk staff chatted among themselves a couple of minutes before someone eventually called her up. My wife informed them that our son was waiting in the car until the appt time. She was told “the doctor is on time today so you better bring him in right away” So my wife directly went to the car (parked directly out front) got myself and our son and we came back inside, we took our seats. My wife started filling out the new patient form, when a front desk staff member came over and leaned over my wife and said “the doctor won’t be able to see you today because he already called you out, and you went to the car, he does not like his patients to be late and you came in at 1:52pm”. My wife was shocked. 1. We arrived early, 1:48pm to be exact for a 2pm appt. 2. If the front desk staff were not so busy chatting among themselves they would have had us checked in on time. 3. It was still only 1:55pm when we were told we were to late for a 2pm appt. The doctor seen us anyway, and he said “everyone is upset today because of the rain”. Actually no, we in fact were not upset because of the rain, but of the rude welcome we received by this clinic. The doctor said we did not even need to make an appt, that we in fact could have just dropped the records off at the front desk and the nurse would check them and upload them to Medicare. No apology was given by the rude front desk staff. And upon leaving my wife addressed the matter with another staff member at the front desk. In which that woman tried to say our appt was for 1:50pm not 2pm. That she had made the appt herself on the Monday. She was very matter of fact and spoke in a condescending voice. No I’m sorry simply not true you made the appt for 2pm and asked us to come in at 1:50pm for the new patient form. Pleas get organised, learn some customer service and serve your patients more kindly. Also you had more than ten people waiting in your waiting room, with one woman coughing heavily, wearing no mask. Can’t imagine what sort of germs she was spreading. I thought if you display any flu like symptoms you shouldn’t be sitting next to vulnerable people. We will not return to your practice.

Zero stars would be more appropriate. I have been to this clinic multiple times over the last 2 years for UTI’s and I have pleaded with them to give me a repeat script to be told multiple times that “yes we will give you one- right after this test.” I have had multiple scans, multiple tests, I have done EVERYTHING recommended and now I have moved away from the clinic- I have gotten a round of basic antibiotics for UTI’s before called through to the pharmacy near me but I was treated horribly by the phone staff. I called and was put on hold then taken off obviously by mistake as they were all calling another patient who called in to say she was going to be late a rude b**** and other horrible terms. When they realised they hung up on me. After speaking with the phone member and treated the way I was for asking if it was possible to get another phone script- I believe the staff here bring the rudeness upon themselves. I was then told a staff member or doctor would call me within the hour- low and behold no phone call. I will be finding a new doctor and I suggest this establishment find new front of house staff.

The majority of the doctors here are impossible to get into. You cannot get into your own doctor. I have waited on the phone for an hour and then been cut off more than once. Some of the staff, nurses and doctors are rude and unprofessional. The Center has gone down hill rapidly over the last two years. I have encountered medical incompetence and a lack of willingness to help. I have been misdiagnosed 3 times of late. Years ago this was different. It is very well known around Kingston that this place is a joke. Doctors are just going through the most basic of motions to earn what they can and get out for the day. If they bulk bill you then you get substandard care. There is no sincerity. My previous two GPS really cared about me and my family but now the ones i have had to see because i can't get into my doctor could not give a dam. Some of the staff have lied to me and a couple of certain doctors just cannot handle a complex medical history. This practice is dreadful and i will be looking for another one with a more honest, reliable doctor and staff.

Rude and incompetent staffs and doctor. Got charged $88 for a 5 mins appointment where the doctor could not figure out what was the problem and referred me to do an Xray and said will give me a call back after getting the Xray report. After 1 month, there is still no call. I went to follow up about that with the staff there and they said oh the doctor was on holiday and sometimes when she doesn't call you mean it is a good news, nothing they can do about it. And they tried to ask to book me in for another appointment to talk with the doctor which I said no as I would not want to pay another $88 for a useless session. They then said can book me in for a phone consultation with the doctor which I thought was not charged as the doctor said to call me about the result, but turn out I was charged for it. Also, I called the Xray people to ask about my report and was told they have sent that to the GP three weeks ago. This place just tries scamming people's money.

I tried to call through twice. I was on hold for over 25 minutes the first time. I attempted to get through again and was on hold for another 25 minutes. I'm told this is fairly normal. Without an internet connection, it's virtually impossible to make an appointment with this medical centre. I was calling regarding a 2 minute phone appointment that I was billed for. I was told it lasted over 6 minutes, however my phone records say otherwise. I disputed the charge and was told that the doctor was the only one that could help me but they no longer worked there due to some issue between them and the practice. All a bit strange. I'm sure the doctors are great, and the admin staff potentially could be, but it seems the business is more interested in making a buck than helping keep our community healthy. Also, the other reviews really do capture my feelings about this practise.

I booked an appointment over a month ago only to be called up at 7.30am on the day of the appointment to have it cancelled because I was a new patient and therefore required a longer appointment that they couldn't accommodate for over two weeks! The woman on the phone blamed me for not calling them in the first place to make the appointment when I had clearly stated in the booking form that I was a new patient but the system allowed me to book the appointment. When I asked why this wasn't picked up until now i was told that it is clinic procedure not to review appointments until the day of or day before. What an absurd system and a great example of why it is so difficult to get a doctors appointment in this state, even when you're charged over $100 for you're trouble.

One star is asking a bit much. Refuses to see any patients with cold and flu symptoms including babies. My 3 month old desperately needed to be seen, “nope go elsewhere” because no doctor will see her. A BABY. A baby in need of seeing a doctor, couldn’t no, wouldn’t be seen because they’re scared of the sniffles. Even when I said confirmed NEGATIVE by pcr. The best they could do was a phone consult. Thank you that really helps me knowing her breathing isn’t affected. I left in tears, feeling like a helpless parent who couldn’t help her child AT ALL because no one would help her. And yes, left. Because I spent 2 hours on hold, I decided to go in to get the help I wouldn’t be allowed to get for my baby for them not to show an inch of compassion.

20 years with the same wonderful doctors & they moved to this dreadful clinic. Far too much of a business than a doctors surgery. Today over 20 minutes waiting to get through on the phone to make an appointment this side of next week with that awful music & constant message saying how busy you are & get cut off before I get through. It's just not good enough & sadly, time to move on. If there are still staffing issues, as mentioned in response to a previous feedback, that speaks volumes I'm afraid. If I could find an appropriate appointment on-line I'd book it, but I can't & the current terrible service ensures I can't interact with a human. Very poor from a doctor business. No wonder our health system is in crisis.

Gave up and found a new doc/practice. I'd give it 0 stars if I could, probably not even worth 0. - 3-4 weeks wait for appointments, - 30+ min on hold every time I call or can't get through at all. - Rude/ snobby reception staff and one particular doctor.. - The doctors are NEVER on time and always make me late back to work. - Parking is an absolute nightmare and it's about to get worse because they are taking away the parking spots at the top of John St. Give it a quick search on Facebook and you'll find many people are going elsewhere, nothing but bad. I feel for the elderly that don't have much choice/don't know how to leave. Who ever runs this place should be ashamed.

We have left this centre due to two experiences of drs testing us for things and then not letting us know the results. My daughter was severely low in ferritin for 6 years. She was tested in 2014, and ended up needing an iron infusion recently because we weren’t informed for 6 years until GP Plus (highly recommend!) looked up her results for us! There was another instance of us not being informed of severely abnormal results for 2 years until GP Plus looked up results for me. The practice’s refusal to pass on an urgent message to a regularly seen GP and them not telling us bad results have sent us elsewhere. I would not recommend them to anyone valuing their health.

  • Peta Clark

I don't particularly like these reviews bit I don't see any changes and very consistent complaints across the board. Aside from the woeful wait times with the popular doctors which are on average an hour and a bit of a running joke around Kingston. It's always been the same as long as I have been going and we just have to put up with it as there is no sign of improvement and clearly the thorough doctors need more time alocated than 15mins to do be able their job . The sanitiser situation is particularly bad ,they are always either empty, absolutely filthy!! or don't work. Automatic dispensers would be a given I would have thought in this environment.

  • Kelum Jayathissa

Called for make a appointment on 27/08/2022 at 10:30 am. I asked can I have a appointment today pls answer was "NO" again asked tomorrow pls "NO we are closed " that's it suddenly did cut the phone .Owner where is their customer service ? Why you are paying them ? Give some training for your staff or recruit good people for the business. We know, because of GP limitations easily we can't make bookings but your staff should need to talk nicely with helpful manner. See how many numbers of google reviews given with one star those all related to front office people behavior but still management on sleep . Be shame on your people and management.

  • Dominique Ness

Had two appalling experiences at the KMC. One with a doctor, who had very limited understanding or empathy, towards youth mental health; in particular any awareness of the different types of behaviours presented with ASD and ADHD, Secondly, their unprofessional rude staff, who repeated back my phone conversation and made snarky, inappropriate comments about me, whilst I was still waiting on the phone. I didn’t receive any formal apology as promised either. Also, their phone waiting time is just mind boggling. You could fly to the moon and back much faster! Cannot recommend the Kingborough Medical Centre.

  • Philip Littlewood

Used GP4ME as advised by phone message. Booked an appointment for Skin check, 2:30pm, required a general appointment, as well, App will not accept 2 appointments on the same day??? Arrived at clinic 2:20pm as did not receive confirm or cancellation. Checked phone and appointment was cancelled @ 2:10pm whilst on the way. Made time out for visit. My loss. But you would have charged me $100 if I cancelled at that time. Won't bother you ever again. I do have mole that requires immediate attention. May have grounds to sue, that'll bump up your Insurance costs. Philip Littlewood

Most of the doctors are lovely, however there is never any appointments available, horrible wait times both on the phone and in the waiting room. It seems like an any excuse they can get to refuse you an appointment they take, very unwilling to help when you have any covid symptoms even if you have a negative test they just send you off to another surgery in Derwent park that won’t see you either. I’ve had so many friends and family experience the same, with people usually choosing to not bother getting medical attention. It’s a joke of a medical centre

  • Morgan Bourke

This Medical Centre has been monetized and Americanized and as a result the community of Kingbrough has been compromised. I went for some vaccinations and was told that since I had not visited since 2020 I was considered a new client and "they are no longer taking new clients." Obviously they can't make money off fit and healthy young bucks such as myself. In the waiting room there were no tradies, no young families- only the elderly with one foot in the you know where. Maximizing their profit margins in this way is nothing short of disgraceful.

  • Ash T

I went in with a swollen ankle and after a 4 minute consultation I got advised to go for an x-ray, where I was told there was no break. I then had to wait and return to the doctor a few hours after only for him to restate what I had been told and bill me $145 for an 'extended consultation'. I questioned it immediately but could not do anything after-the-fact. I would not recommend this place to anyone under financial pressure.

  • Alexandra Daly

I thank God for being able to visit the Kingborough Medical CentreI for more than 20 years and have always recieved efficient friendly professional service and never had to wait too long. My GP is always very caring, supportive, understanding, respectful and proficient. He always takes time to listen and is never too rushed. Every time I visit Kingborough Medical Centre I feel very happy!

  • Rachel Brown

Waited over 1 hour for my appointment with a doctor I hadn't seen before due to my doctor being booked out until end of next month and charged a double booking as a new patient! Told by doctor to come.back in 2 weeks, try to make a booking in easyvist only to have to wait until.end of next month again. Do not recommend, will be looking for a new surgery.

  • Peter McKenna

If you have opening hours please do not shut your doors and forward your phone to a national automated service 10 minutes before that time in case we try to bring our very sick child in to see a doctor again. For the record we will never use your services again unless we are desperate...oh wait we were. This is written in anger so please excuse the tone.

  • Oliver Terry

Turned up on a Saturday public holiday but they were still able to fit us in. appointment run pretty much on time and both receptionist and doctor were awesome! There is an appointment fee for the practice on Saturday which after medicare rebate was abut $50 but given that we were in a spot and were grateful to see a doctor we were happy to pay

  • Meg Ashworth

Unfriendly staff and practice manager. Daughter got charged a $10 administration fee for late payment 13 days after paying the account!! and they flatly refused a refund saying new terms were 24hrs even though the invoice clearly stated 7 days and was paid within the 7 days. Can't fault my GP but the receptionists leave a lot to be desired!

  • Joseph Jung

Unfortunately the reception staff rarely answer the phone. They must be extremely short staffed. Multpile times I've attempted to speak with someone and the phone and it is always engaged or I'm onhold for over 20mins+ before giving up. This happened last week and today. Our doctor is fantastic but the reception/office is a massive issue.

  • Jase Batey

Waited 40 minutes to get some stitches removed I walked out in disgust and did it myself.... my wife has tried to make an appointment 5 times today, been on hold for an average of 15 minutes and still can’t get through...lovely Doctors though when you finally get to see them, not their fault our health system is in crisis. Thank you.

  • Marion & Ekkehart Mundana

Bungled up process of transfer of medical records requiring several calls. Then no contact back re GP appointment for months, after more phone calls from me. Giving up now after waiting for more than 4 months to get in. Don’t even know if I’m on their waiting list anymore. Going somewhere else now. Avoid this place.

  • Ray & Adrienne Andrew

They're too busy! Just waited 35 mins on HOLD! Last appointment I had, I was fobbed off as the Dr was late for another patient and didn't have time to look into another ongoing issue I have. I was told to make another appointment and come back. Totally fed up after going to this medical centre for over 20 yrs!

  • Jenni Gyffyn

I find the VERY busy staff on the front desk to be friendly and extremely professional. They have a lot to deal with! My doctor at this centre has now unfortunately retired but the locum I have been seeing is absolutely wonderful - caring and thorough. Overall, a 5 star medical centre.

  • Gail Ocallaghan

Refused to let my daughter see a doctor because she owed them 60.00, she is. Single mother with 2 children. Because they refused to see her she was unable to get a prescription for her mental health. Absolute disgrace. Will be sending a formal complaint to the health commissioner

  • Simone Brinsmead

I was a patient for nearly 35 years, and had the same GP for around 20 years. The centre has been badly managed for a few years now, and is too corporate-ised. Doctors appear stressed and don't have enough time for their patients. Have now moved to a smaller practice.

  • marty3076

I needed to see the doctor as soon as possible. I had an appointment made the same day. No wait time, even got in early. Never have I had issues here. All the staff were great. Even though it's private now, I was happy to pay for the care and referral I received.

  • Danny Visser

Have tried multiple times to have a health report drafted and sent to my insurance company so I can get life insurance. Multiple faxes and multiple emails over many months and a double appointment and still no report. May have to start legal proceedings.

  • Jasmine Logan

Always great helpful girls at the front desk and every doctor I’ve seen has been fantastic, my main doctor i wouldn’t change but I know there is always fantastic professional help by any doctor and the nurses always make you feel comfortable also.

  • Ebony Booth

I've been going to this practice for years. The best doctor I have had (I've gone through many) would have to be Dr De Souza. She is an absolute gem and she has helped me so much! The nurses have always been amazing and understanding.

  • Ashleigh Cleaver

Given majority of my experiences are good but today not so much. You don't expect to be called and told twice you haven't seen a doctor you booked with when you have seen them twice. It's extremely unprofessional by the receptionist.

  • Anna

absolutely the worst medical centre booked an appointment a week in advance just to see it was cancelled on the morning of the appointment with no reason as to why. Maybe you guys should look into better management of your clinic.

  • Ann Schluter

It’s very difficult to get an appointment with a female doctor. Appointments are booked out weeks in advance. I don’t mind waiting a day to see a doctor but it is usually the next week before an appointment is available.

  • Leigh Eiszele

This doctors is the most useless doctors in southern Tasmania. The doctors wont get back to you the ladys at the front desk are so unhelpful and hang up on you. If my children are sick i would NEVER take them here.

  • Sue D

What a disgrace. We live in the poorest state in Australia with the highest elderly population, most ill and in need. They are charging pensioners $40 out of pocket for a 15 minute appointment. GREED GREED GREED

  • Aldo McNaldo

May a suggest that you change the wording in the recorded message from ' We'll attend to your call shortly to ' We'll attend to your call eventually "? The girls on the front desk are clearly underesourced.

  • Andrew Wadsley (EPGuru)

Can't book my own doctor. Have been going to this practice for over 30 years. No more! Changing practice at the moment. Hopefully to a practice that isn't just there to make money for a corporate..

  • L

Impossible to contact over the phone. I have tried to contact them four times, on hold for 30-50 each time and until I give up in frustration. I will be changing doctors this is ridiculous.

  • Marcus

Had terrible experience with Dr who ignored symptoms and complaints just to get me out quickly. Didnt keep any notes on my and then retired so when I needed medical history wasnt there.

  • George

Think they want you to book on line. If that makes it quicker to book over the phone. Good? I would wait a week to see my docter. He is a great man. Love him..

  • Helen Coad

Can I please thank Jackie for her care and follow up for me. She was wonderful to deal with and sorted out my issues quickly. Thanks Jackie …

  • allan smith

Attempted to make phone contact three to four times, unable to connect over 30 minutes, occurs regularly without any improvement in service.

  • Kat Mac

I' ve always found the staff and doctors very professional kind and helpful and have been a client for over 10 years.

  • Aileen Clark

Have been going here for many years and find the staff and my doctor always caring and helpful. Five stars from me!

  • keir goodram

Fantastic medical practice with incredible staff and doctors and nurses. Highly recommend.

  • Kellie Bachmayer

Dr Banham is amazing! Reception staff always extremely helpful and caring. Robert

Reception just don't seem to be coping. The flow on to patients is upsetting.
