I remember a time, it seems like only yesterday, when a corner shop and $5 would leave you feeling bloated and unable to eat for the rest of the day. Alas time and the economy have eroded this to the point where $5 really won't get you that much. That being said, in spite of the prices no longer aligning to my halcyon days this is a good shop. The service is generally good (a little brusque and rushed but I don't remember being in this shop without a line up). The food (I don't eat fish so can't comment on it) is good. Always looks and tastes freshly made. The fit out inside is new looking without the accumulated grime that's so common with this type of establishment. It may have cost the best part of $20 to feed the family but I can't really fault this shop for pricing like it's 2016, and at the end there were a few chips no one could manage, not ones no one wanted to eat that is. So I lament the lost days of my youth but am happy to recommend the Kingston Beach Takeaway.

Boy oh boy, frankly this was possibly the worst food I've ever eaten, the chips were soggy and flavourless, I swear to God the nuggets had been frozen for atleast 20 years, hell they could have been the oldest nuggets known to man, they were a shade of grey that put the books to shame, the flake my partner got was inedible, we believe it was battered in possibly concrete on account of it being harder to break apart than 2 of those tiny Lego's stuck together. I'll he honest, I've eaten food of the floor that tasted far better, more than once, if you want take away and want to have an awful time, come here, I think the place doubles as a secret torture chamber due to the quality of the food. Everything hot and fresh, as a brit I'd say I am an expert in fish and chips and I have to say its ok but was a bit disappointed. The chips were really good compared to what I've tried elsewhere on the island, however they weren't consistent with some perfect but a few tasted gross. We tried fish breaded and battered, the breading was nice a crisp with soft flakey fish but the battered one was thick and soggy, I'd suggest avoiding. Also compared to a British chippy there's no option to add salt how you like, they actually didn't ask what and how much salt we wanted, this led to the chips being oversalted and the fish a bit underalted. Thank god for sauces.

Took ages for them to take our coffee order while a few of the guys presumably working there stood around the coffee machine. I Ordered two coffees to begin with. Asked if they had any equal sugar. The guy serving said he didn't know. When the coffees were made, my dad asked if there was any sugar. The guy rudely said you didn't order any. To add insult to injury, my brother ordered food for his kids and us (including two burgers). After more than a 25 minute wait, one of the burgers we ordered was missed. When we asked about the second burger, the guy said, rudely, you didn't order two burgers, you only paid for one. And not graciously, said he could cook another one. We declined. Very poor service.

Bloody get right round this little ripper of a fish and chipper! The most reasonable prices you’ve ever seen at a chippery too. Not many better views to shove some fried food down the gob either. Dim sims were superb. Chips were ace. Fish - got to be honest the batter was a bit thick and as a result was a bit greasy. Any time the batter is as thick as the fish you’ve got a problem. Still - I can’t make this one down as the overall experience had me feeling pretty happy. First time I’ve smiled since Dirk’s passing back in 2019. Poor bloke. Who knew you could be allergic to hummus. RIP Dirk, 1999 - 2019.

Liked it so much we went twice during our holiday. Chips were all golden and crispy, scallops were REAL SCALLOPS- big, juicy, wild caught with roe on, and the fish burger used delicious flathead (not cheap imported fish). Met by a lovely lady, very efficiently battling by herself front of house, however let down by the poor food. Got the fisherman's basket which had minimal cold overcooked chips, flathead was ok but there were battered 'things'?! We didn't know what it was but was inedible. Great place to buy an ice cream and drink from a cheery lady, avoid anything from the kitchen.

Terrible customer service. Popped in on my break to get water and some food. The older, skinny looking man (possibly owner) stood and chatted to a lady (assumed acquaintance or friend) about the holidays they were planning on this year for roughly 8 minutes until she left. He the just looked at me and uttered “How you going mate?”, no apology for the wait. Nothing. I bought the water but couldn’t bare handing any more money over for food. Won’t be back. P.s Im not your mate, champ.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Cost me $50. 3 serves of fish and chips. 2 tiny pieces of fish in the box, the rest was greasy chips. Fish was like a rubber band. Frozen imported. I went out of my way to get my 85yr old grandparents fish and chips, cost me $50 and they couldn't even eat it. Was so disappointing. Rude service, arrogant attendant. NEVER again. Have since learned fish and chips near Shiploads is MUCH better. These new owners are out of touch and have destroyed an icon.

Spent a couple weeks visiting in the area and stopped many times for the excellent selection of seafood. I think I tried all the seafood items on the menu and enjoyed them all. Most often we took our food just outside to eat as there is no real seating in this takeaway place but once while caught in the rain we enjoyed the view of the ocean from the front window. My year old daughter also had lots of options here as well as treats and icecream

Horrible service! The staff have no interest in the customers, they don't serve you unless you ask for service, don't make eye contact and barely say a word. If your a female on the other hand, don't worry extra attention will be given your way. It's so bad it's obvious. These remarks have been noticed by not just me but multiple people. Used to be a good shop, but no longer. It's a shame that there's not many other options on the beach.

Kingston beach takeaway used to be my chosen place for quick and cheap eats on the beach, but with the general uptick in prices recently, I can't say I'd go here unless I didn't feel like taking a short drive to Kingston. The food is generally greasy, but there is certainly lots of it. Still a quick and dirty spot for chips on the beach, but the prices make me hesitant to go back in a rush

Horrid service! 20 minutes before closing time the girl on the till refused to take our order. She took the order ahead of me and there was no one behind me. Cooking a couple of pieces of fish was too difficult. I'm sure they won't mind me posting this review: they obviously don't need any business: We were on the beach for an hour after they closed and saw tons of people walk up and leave disappointed at the stupid 3:30 closing time.

Good fish and chips but the portion sizes are really inconsistent and the service is unreliable. They regularly forget parts of the order! Tonight ordered $9 family size chips and got less than a plate full. Two small kids ate the lot! So, my advice: Check your order before you leave!

Zero stars for todays performance (funnily enough can't even select zero stars!), the fish was very over cooked and terrible. Not even an apology from the girl at the front. All people working at the back talking all the time, pretty sure they either forgot my fish in the cooker or cooked yesterdays fish. Won't find me back there again, poor show and what a pity!

Wouldn’t recommend getting food delivered, took one and half hours to deliver for a 7 minute drive to our house, when the order said it was going to take 20 minutes. When it got delivered it was very cold and gross. Waste of $50.

Ordered fish and chips as per previous orders except I got two pieces of cold fish for $20 and they told me they only charged me $15 and no chips unlike previous orders it now seems that the Aussie fish and chips is now optional on the chips. I recommend going to Kingston Fish and Chips where you actually get chips and the food is still hott

Disgusting. Worst flake and chip experience I've ever had. Soggy, oil soaked battered flake which was grey and awful. Batter was nearly burnt. Battled through half and threw it out. Chips we passable but over salted. Even the view couldn't improve the food. Avoid.

Lovely coffee, every morning we have a coffee it’s extra hot just how we like it I have oat milk and has to be decaf no problem. The best burgers and fish and chips home made potato cakes. Great customer service home made muffins are huge and delicious.

We had an excellent meal here. Blue Grenadier was moist and succulent, with crispy batter. We had a bit of everything: chicken, potato cakes, scallops, dim sims. Everything was perfect and the staff was very friendly and polite too. I would drive down to Kingston Beach from Hobart just to eat there!

Food was great but we were greeted with terrible customer service. The young girl behind the counter sighed at us and rolled her eyes when we asked for our order to be cooked fresh. It was a pretty big order and the food in the bainmarie looked old. This is the 2nd time she has done this now.

Th chips are OK the food is not great tho except the chicken strips but the staff are not helpful the ones I talked to had no idea where there seafood came from or basically any info about there other products. If u just want some hot chips and a drink then it’s fine but not much else

Don't order from these guys just before closing time. Rubbery fish, cardboard tasting squid rings and burnt chips. Worst meal in a long time.

Worst customer service, we waited to be served for about 10 minutes and when he finally decided to serve us he was very rude and yawned in our face and couldn’t care less that he was being rude also we got 4$ worth of chips and it was very small definitely not worth your money

Great place. We we're staying up the road and passed this place many times and it was always busy. Their portion size is really good and their prices are very good. The staff was really nice to and made us feel very welcome. Would recommend if you are in the area.

You can travel along way to find a place that's so good you wished you knew about it long ago. This corner shop at Kingston Beach rocks. We've had great chips great dimmies and tatto cakes and mean burgers. Thanks guys we'll be hitting yous soon again and again

As a visitor to Kingston Beach I've been here several times, good food and service. They have national pies which remind me of the school pie days- in a good way. The cheese burger was perfectly sized and didn't spill out while eating.

Quick visit, good prices and great fish and chips. Shared chips and a flathead fillet with my 3yr old. Very enjoyable. Really nice tables outside with good umbrellas for shade and a great view of the beach. Couldn't ask for muck more!

Staff that great you are not friendly at all. Basic hospitality is lacking which is a shame. Wouldn’t hurt to try a bit harder guys. Food is good but unfriendly faces is enough to not want to come back or recommend to anyone.

Chips are straight trash, chicken strips are on point but flake and potato cakes are undercooked and the batter is from a wet hole it’s all greasy and stuff, the staff are as helpful as dirt on minecraft. Would not recommend

The chips, potato cakes and flatty tails were all 5 star. Unfortunately the piece of flake we had was shocking. It wasn't fresh. It was dry, tough and grey blood meat. Spoilt what started of as a lovely beachside dinner.

Grumpy guy serving me. Use re-constituted calamari rings and octopus. Scallop looked shrivelled. Tiny bits of flathead. Best part of the Fisherman's Basket was the chips. Would not go back or recommend.

It's a nice flat beach to walk one with one end off the beach dedicated to an off the dog lead area. It has cafes near it so you can grad a bite to eat and it has an op-shop to have a look in

This place has gone downhill. Service today was woefull , order cheeseburger got out of hot box and slapped on counter no wrapping. Effort to add up order. No customer service at all.

Ordered a large chips and extra chicken salt for $5. Good amount for two people. Chips were crunchy and yummy and the young girl definitely added the perfect amount of chicken salt!

Go there every day for their wraps for lunch. $5 wrap with good quality ingredients. Sweet Chilli Chicken is the winner for sure! They also do a great coffee.

This takeaway store disgusts me. They take advantage of kids and rip them off and they are just overall rude to the customers. Would not recommend whatsoever.

What can I say... and keep saying THE BEST STEAK SANDWICH BAR NONE. We drive from Eastern Shore to sit, eat and enjoy the view. Chips are amazing to BTW
