Date of Visit: November 25th, 2023 My wife and I had a rather mixed experience at Lamanna's Bakery in Scarborough while picking up a birthday cake and cupcakes for our son's 7th birthday. We placed our order three weeks in advance, requesting specific designs, and were assured by the staff that everything would be prepared as requested. The total cost was over $175. We arrived at the bakery around 12pm, as suggested by the staff, but unfortunately, we had to wait for about 20 minutes before anyone attended to us. This delay was particularly stressful as we had a party to attend. After notifying a staff member about our long wait, he went to check and soon returned with the cake. The cake itself was as ordered, but the issue arose with the cupcakes. Instead of the custom-designed cupcakes we paid for, we were given a random selection from their display. When we pointed out the mistake, the staff member, rather than acknowledging the error, tried to justify it by saying we arrived late. This response was quite frustrating as our punctuality should not affect the accuracy of our order. Moreover, the situation escalated when the staff member raised his voice as we expressed our disappointment and urgency to leave for our son's birthday party. Overall, while the cake met our expectations, the mix-up with the cupcakes and the staff's handling of the situation were disappointing. It was disheartening to experience such service, especially after planning and paying in advance for a special occasion.

Super iconic Scarborough spot and me and my family have been eating here since it first opened as a smaller store :) The food is always really awesome and Peter is super nice along with his family. The gelato is some of the best I’ve had. The pizza is generously portioned slices and so is the delicious hot counter items. There’s a huge selection of desserts and pastries and sandwiches as well to fit anything you need. The only thing to warn about is how busy it gets! Do plan ahead especially if you’re planning on stopping by during lunch or at peak hours. It’s quite rare to walk in to no lineup or packed seating at many hours of the day.

There was a hype, so I marked on my places of want to go and go I went... just picked up to go desserts and pizza Blonde lady was a little judgmental but all good I came with a friend and probably looked like we were not together she was surprised when we were nothing is labeled in case you need to know and hard to ask questions as they can't seem to hear (there's also barriers in place), and what they have will be seen as you walk the lineup Got a little to try skipped the pasta dishes as I didn't want to line up again (separate line for 3 separate sections) place is busy, busy! Line up is ok can get confusing if first time here so there's 3 different sections and line ups for each, they have some tables in middle of this U- turn to sit down if you like and people watch Got cannolis, cookies, and pizza, everything seems fresh, tasted fresh plus with this kind of traffic it would have to be. A little pricey, they also have Gelato, many options for baked goods; donuts, macaroons, cakes but didn't try it. Place is cutely decorated and atmosphere gave me a bit of excitement or maybe because I'm waiting for desserts? ‍♀️ Washrooms are ok got confused as it's marked handicap and something else on other but when you gotta go they all same December 29, 2022

Lamanna's is a great place to get pastries to share with your loved ones and it is also a great place to grab coffee in the mornings. I came here on a Saturday morning to grab a few pastries to take to a friend's house for a housewarming and the selection that I found here was so great! I spent about 20 minutes in line which wasn't too bad. the service was pretty fast and friendly. I also really appreciated that they boxed up my pastries separately as per my request. Something else I really liked is that they have a separate pastry counter, separate hot counter and separate pizza counter. So if you know what you are getting before you walk into the restaurant, the employees can guide you to the right counter so you don't have to wait in one humongous line to get what you need. overall, I had a great first experience and the pastries and pizzas I got were delicious!

Service was good, unfortunately that's not what I'm paying to eat. Had a large order as it was my first time after being recommended. I ordered about 11 different pastries which they make on site. Out of that total, only the pistachio éclair was decent. Just decent, and only because everything else was just SO bad. I'm not sure why, but the creams tasted weird, as if it was off. The lobster tail filling was okay, but the pastry itself tasted weird, like it was made with old lard. Other items had that taste of previously frozen pastries - like it had picked up the scent/taste of other items in a freezer. We tried a bunch of the gelatos, these were top mark. We did not order from the hot menu, so no comments about them. If you go to the sweets section, stick to the gelato. PS. We asked the staff working there and one girl flat out told us quite a lot of the in-house items were not very good. She recommended the pistachio éclair and we should have just stuck to that. Very nice servers though.

The desserts I ordered here were amazing! Everything had its own u inquest texture and taste. They had these dulce de leche filled mini churros which were a winner in my books. The donuts were super soft and fluffy amd with that pistachio cream, it just made the donut! I think if it didn’t t have the sugar on the donut it would’ve taste that much better, but loved everything! Also ordered the veal sandwich and it was great! Sloppy and delicious! The veal was nicely done and all the sauce was just soaked right into the bread! Had a really nice setup for takeout. One line for the pastries and another separate line for their famous pizza! They also had a person standing at the door to ensure everyone coming in knew which way to go for what they were looking for. Cannot wait for my next visit here. I would love to get that HUGE pizza slice next time! Maybe even a second one for dessert too! Yes, they also have the HUGE dessert slice! Be prepared for a line up when visiting this gem of a place! We arrived at 11am and had a 20min wait. When we collected our food, the line wrapped around the store and was probably about 45min. But it's so worth it!!! The pizza is simple but delicious. I think the toppings could be more generous (I don't think have more than 12 PCs of mushrooms in mu mushroom pizza) but the sauce, crust and flavour was delicious. I would order it again. The chicken cutlets sandwich was good too but the peppers and onions are sliced really large. The donuts and coffee here are outstanding. Donuts have the lightest freshest texture....I definitely need more than 1. My favorite was the chocolate dipped because it's not overly sweet and the quality of the chocolate is really good. As is their coffee beverages. This place has such a cult following...but I can totally understand why. Can't wait to come back to try the gelato and more desserts.

One of the best spots to visit in Port Union! I love the family vibes. Definitely check out if you want to grab lunch or just a sweet treat. They’re menu and what they’re offering is always changing so there’s always something new to try. We got their Vegetable Lasagna and Sausage Orecchiette from their hot table. Their vegetable lasagna is one of my favourite items from their hot table but I would skip out on the orecchiette next time. They also have a ton of pastries, cakes and rotating gelato flavours to choose from. This time we just got the mango gelato and a croissant but I love their lobster tail and their strawberry shortcake donut. There’s limited seating and it’s usually pretty busy so it’s definitely more of a grab and go type of spot. Overall, I love Lamanna’s and it’s always a treat to visit!

I got this as a birthday surprise! Everyone loved it including myself! We had so much fun taking pictures with it and it was delicious! I think the big slice pizza will become a tradition for us to order for birthdays! I tried the tiramisu ice cream and boy it was so good ! My daughter had the strawberry one and she said it was yummy! We ordered the HAWAII 5-O big slice to be picked up on Oct 26 for my sister’s birthday! Can’t wait ! Update: OCT 26 (my sister was super happy with her pizza!) Thank you guys for the allowing me to customize the pizza and it was delicious ! We will be back soon to surprise our grandpa with this giant pizza slices! Can’t wait ! Awesome customer service !

Overall the food is not Italian, I was a guest to dine in for Big Slice Pizza and Big Slice Cake, the cake had birthday cake sprinkles lay on a big slice pizza dough. The cake was all sugar icing not Italian at all, perhaps use a real cake for the price that was paid. ie. Italian rum cake is traditional. Unable to cut this cake with no utensil or plates. The pizza, well it was ok, again not so italian. The trip was an hour including return home for the experience and I was underwhelmed. Pizza slice is not as large as pictures posted. Don't be confused.

August 9/23 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ My bestie bought me some delicious bites to celebrate my birthday. She visited the store in the first hour they opened. She said the staff wasn't very welcoming, and the line was long and moved slowly. Selection was also limited in bakery, where there were multiple treat sections that were empty. She brought the treats over right after pick up and was very careful during transport. I would wish they had a better way to separate deserts so they don't get tossed around in the big box or use a more appropriate size box based on the order. Treats arrived messy but tastes good. Lamanna's should take more pride in customer service, selection, and packaging.

  • Jenna Dwarka

Frustrating customer service experience. Despite loudly clearly communicating my order the girl got it completely wrong and we had to spend 10 extra minutes trying to get a refund. Sadly the cannoli and pistachio eclair were both STALE! Awful taste. Meat lasagna is excellent. Veggie lasagna is okay. They could really benefit from one staff member ushering and explaining how to order and pay. They do not have organic coffee beans but I enjoyed my latte. Prices have gone up for hot food.

Haven’t got take out for 6 months; but my daughter was craving the meat lasagna which had not ever been a disappointment. But it was gluey and not like before. I got the gnocchi in what I thought was a marinara sauce. It tasted like Campbells tomato soup I threw it in trash. My son got the veal on a bun. Used to give a slice and half of veal now just one slice on panini; just too much bread not enough meat. The pizza slices were still good.

Mind the long lineup! It's worth the wait though. Turns out that it's not too bad --- only about 15 minutes on the line, as after you come into the store, there are two lines: one for hot food and the other for dessert and bakery. My friend and I had the yummy pizza and the porchetta with the Kaiser. More than enough for the two of us. Don't forget to add mushrooms to the porchetta. The pork and the mushrooms blend in so well! No doubt, we're fed well; but as our sweet teeth were acting up, we ended up getting the unforgettable dark chocolate gelato --- and the affogato! We felt completely satisfied after all!

Third time visiting this bakery and I an so impressed. My first time was pre pandemic when they still offered dine in. The servings and portions are large. We usually get pizza lasagna Gelato. The lasagna as meat or vegetarian are a very hot seller. All types of pizza are delightful. The staff are so sweet and kind. Lovely establishment. If you go on Fridays order ahead and pick up because the line goes out the door. Also, I heard they sell amazing cakes . We haven't tried one but clients rave about the cakes every time we go. If you want authentic Italian food: this is the place

We live north of the GTA so getting Pizza from Lamanna’s is a real treat! We happen to be working in the city near by so we knew we had to stop in and they made our Large Pizza fresh while we waited. Dessert of course was a must, especially the Lobster Tails omg! Delicious! Three teenagers at home were super happy to see Dad walking in with this for dinner. Highly recommend you check them Out!

I went there to buy a cake for a friend. I went inside and then i came to know that they also have pizza slices and some Italian food. This is basically a Italian bakery. I ordered pastry for my friend and some macrons. Pastry was so good and other than that they had lot of different items like gelato, cakes, croissant. I tried vanilla flavour and strawberry flavour in macrons and it was so good. I tried cheese pizza slice and vegetable pizza slice. Both were proper italic in taste. If you love authentic Italian pizza then this is the place for you.

Visited Lamanna’s today on a Friday at around 12:30pm, during the lunchtime rush. Wow very busy, but orders were being filled nice and fast. We pre ordered 4 lobster rolls and one of their famous Big Slice’s with pepperoni. Amazing quality food, loved the lobster roll. Nice and crunchy/flaky crust and the cream filling inside isn’t overly sweet and tasted amazing. The big slice, the quality of cheese that they use here is A++. Crust and dough used is very good. Love the novelty of the big cardboard box too! All in all, would definitely visit again!!

  • Preeti Gadgil

Had really loved the cannolis the first time we visited. This time, they were soggy :( The cheesecake continues to be delicious, though! We also got the lobster tails this time, but they were too creamy for my taste. Went a 3rd time - specifically requested for a chocolate cake. The cake I got was rubbish - paid $32 bucks for something that shouldn't even cost $6, in fact shouldn't be sold at all. Walmart does cakes better than this. Buttercream on top she said, more like whipped cream. Overall, a very hit or miss place this one has become.

  • Stephen Craig

Why is this place always so busy, I wonder? The service seems intentionally slow to create lineups, because a long line and wait must mean the food is fantastic, right? This isn't the case. Let's be honest, the items are overpriced and mediocre. The vegetable lasagna was raw inside, I had to take it home and put it in the oven and the baked goods were forgettable. Don't believe their media hype.

Service at the pizza could be faster. Someone who can multitask would be beneficial. It's almost like you ask for your pizza Slice. It's put into oven then you pay the it's removed and you get it all before the next person can order a slice.

This was my first time trying baked goods at this bakery and I absolutely loved it. Not just their baked good but their gelato tasted like heaven. I’m a big gelato fan and they had a variety of options to choose from… I tried their Tiramisu and Nutella gelato and it just melted in my mouth. I got Tiramisu, cannoli and red velvet cheesecake to go which were all amazing but the one that stood out for me was their Nutella donut. It’s a must try if you’re a Nutella fan. I couldn’t try their pizzas but I’d def be back…

Ordered the Big Slice online in advance. Not cheap but a novelty price. Good quality and quantity but it's 20 km away. Not a fan of the fact that there's not follow up confirmation after ordering and when I tried calling their phone didn't pick up. I asked about the phone and they said "the line is jammed". Didn't ruin my kid's birthday party, thankfully. Must be popular as there was a line up before their Sunday 11:00 open. 4/5 because it's a premium novelty pizza and its 2022 so get your phone fixed!

Once you visit this place, I guarantee you will become addicted. This is by far the best bakery I have visited in my local area. There are so many options for baked goods and cakes, you're bound to find something you love, even if you're not a big fan of baked goods. The pizza was so cheesy and delicious. I didn't get to try the espresso or gelato, but both looked amazing! Thank you for the excellent and speedy service and of course the amazing food! I will be back very soon!

I bought a prenteded caramel cake that had no caramel in it. The cake sponge is extremely dense and seem had been cooked long time ago. It is very heavy and dry. I don't recommend it at all. The staff had no manners and while we were standing in line, she tried to serve the people behind us while trying to shove us back. Another was no friendly at all and was barely answering when asked a question.

It's difficult to ask questions about different food items because: 1. nothing is labeled and 2. different staff have different functions. However, this is one of the highest quality, tastiest, most delicious and consistent places over the past 8 years in my personal experience. Be prepared for some confusing long lines and the inability to hear, but impressive food and coffee. Very affordable pasta of the day changes frequently and usually several choices.

  • Ruti

I went here on a Saturday at noon and there was already a line up! It took about 15 mins before I got inside and waited for another 10 mins to order my food. All in all, it was worth it! The pizza is thin crust which I love and I found different types that I have never seen before. I got the capocollo with muffuletta The desserts were amazing! I will definitely be back, maybe on a Monday though.

Moldy window cakes and several days old desserts put back out in the morning. My Churros were rock hard Def not made this morning. Try to only buy what looks fresh. Honestly they should sell off older food on apps like 2good2go and not sell customers several weeks old cakes.

I came to see what the hype was about. The spot was busy busy. People were coming and going. They have a pizza line, pasta line, and a bakery line with some cake, donuts, and pastries. I ended up getting the big slice, which is the biggest slice. It took them like 15 minutes to cook the pizza. It was very good. If you plan on dining in there aren't a lot of seats. There might have been like 10 seats total.

been here a few times now. i usually get the veggie lasagna and sometimes have the ice cream. i havent had a bad experience, although i do find the line for the pastries/drinks/ice cream to be a little unclear compared to the pizza/lasagna side. anyways, you get the flow if you just look around i guess. the food here is great. cant wait to try more

So many delicious things to try, will be coming back very soon!

Easily the best Italian joint in Toronto. Spacious, and ALOT of selection. From the hot table to desserts to hot beverages. Inexpensive and delicious. I'm in the West end and I have no issue driving down. You can order a big 'slice' of pizza for about $20. The lasagna is one of my go to; big serving, saucey, meaty, and very tasty! Worth the drive to Scarborough, a definite place to check out!

One of the best in townn for a reason ! Really liked their tiramasu pastry and would recommend buying the croissants and pasteries here . They also have a good variety of gelato's . Don't forget to enjoy a slize of their scrumptious Italian pizza's . I would recommend this bakery for all your fresh bread needs and for making all those celebatory moments worthwhile! The store opens at 11 AM.

This place is definitely worth the hype. We got the pistachio and Nutella bombes which are large filled dounuts. When I say large I mean large - they are almost too big to eat yourself. We also tried the stuffed churros and they were really tasty with lots of caramel filling. Due to current restrictions they only serve pre-ordered items for pickup but their system was efficient and fast.

Lamanna’s is way more than a Bakery. We came 30 minutes before the closing time, and there were lineups (no discounts at the end of the day)! We had lasagna and a couple of desserts. Everything was delicious. Food portions are huge and inexpensive! Very friendly staff! A must try! We will come back to try their enormous pizza and more desserts!

  • Nandini Debnath

I tried Lamanna's Bakery desserts, and they were amazing! The tiramisu cake was creamy with coffee and cocoa flavors. The pistachio flavour desserts were rich and nutty but not too sweet. They also have a delicious lobster tail pastry with creamy filling. Overall, Lamanna's Bakery desserts are a must-try! They also carry some beautiful cakes.

  • Samad Kadri

High quality desserts! Make sure you order wya ahead of time as they have specific time slots and limited quantities. I could only only order the Strawberry Shortcake Donuts on a Sunday. While they look amazing, they didn’t taste as good as expected. But definitely worth trying. My favorite was the Custard Tart. Cheesecake was heavenly too.

  • Rianna

What a delightful Italian bakery with an incredible hot table, cafe & pizza. Their giant pizza slice is well known and the whole experience from the design of the interior to the amazing branding and food is top notch. The staff were all friendly and patient while letting you choose from their seemingly infinite selection of desserts.

  • Tom Eichler

Their massive pie shaped pizza and dessert pizzas are a big hit for birthday parties, and despite the novelty element, very tasty too! Make sure to order ahead as lineups are out the door, but their family-style customer service is top notch. Too bad the only location is so far out of the city, but worth the 30-40 minutes drive!

  • Ryan Lowe

I love Lamanna’s bakery! Ive never had a bad meal here ever. I’ve also never been and not seen a massive line leading out the door. Chicken Parmesan sandwich is one of the better ones in the city. The lasagna is so soft and delicious. The pizza is fresh and tasty. Do not forget to line up for their dessert! Such a huge selection

  • Tashfin Awal

For the prices you pay, you really can’t complain, it makes sense why there’s always a line up here! The portions are great, and the variety is welcoming! That being said, the food tasted a little plain and it can be confusing navigating the different counters, but overall I can see why it’s a well-loved Scarborough staple.

  • Jaskarn Bains

WOWOWOWOWO A HIDDEN GEM!! Absolutely amazing and the giant pizza slice is such a great tasting novelty. They request that you order it online with 24 hours notice but they can sometimes make an exception if you call and place an order depending on how busy it is. The canolis are also very tasty.

  • Brent Hui

So much delicious food and you want to try it all. It gets busy and there's limited seating so I got everything to go. There's separate lines for pizza / hot food or bakery items. I didn't get to try the gelato or coffee but I would assume it's great like the pizza and pastries.

  • Aileen Lee

Great place for amazing pastries. I never leave this place without a box full of their baked goods. They also have an amazing selection of pizzas as well as a hot food pick up counter. My only complain is that the line/ups tend to be slow. But if the food is good, one can wait!

  • Carmen Lee

Ordered the veggie lasagna, arancini, cannoli, tiramisu & the sfoglia all to go as due to the pandemic they don't have indoor dining now. Staff was friendly, they were organized and everyone was wearing a mask. Everything was super delicious, well priced and portions were big!

  • Ana N. A.

I went there because I needed last minute cakes, so I got two from display. Unfortunately they didn’t taste that great ..chocolate cake tastes a bit old and the strawberry cake was dry. On the other hand, their pizza is amazing! Just like the pizza you’d get in Europe

  • Shabi T

This bakery is a great place to always eat. Their giant pizza slice is very unique. Was worth the 45 minute wait. Their pizza has a lot of flavor. They have a lot of cake and treats as well. Each of them have their own unique taste! Definitely will be going back.

  • Parmvir Lakhi

We had the pasta from the hot bar. The one in the tomato sauce did not have any flavour, but the one with veggies and bacon was delicious. They seem to have a great assortment of gelato, pastries which all looked delicious. There big slice pizza was also a hit!

They have not trained there server staff very well, they have no sense of service, and the lines and signs make no sense whatsoever. It is chaos and nobody takes any sense of responsibilty. Even though the food is quite good, their

A busy spot and I can see you why. Their pizza is fresh and delicious. Didn’t try their dessert but I wouldn’t be surprised if it is as good if not better. Will be back to try their lasagna and chicken cutlets (also the Gelato!).

I ordered the rotini pasta. This time around, there wasn't enough seasoning, and I had to ask the sever to add more of the meat sauce as she was only picking out the pasta.

Lamanna's Bakery is my go-to spot. The baked goods are consistently delicious, and the service is always efficient. The prices are reasonable for the quality. Overall, a reliable and excellent choice for baked treats.

It's chaos, but the food is great and a consistent quality. The cakes and gelato are also worth trying. Try the lasagna. The pizza is also very good. The cake is a mocha chocolate fudge for my daughter's birthday.

Went to Lamanna's to sample some cannolis' as it is hard to find good ones around GTA. This place has a some variety of sweets and the cannolis were "ok" , service was not friendly but polite and short. Not cheap.

Excellent food on the east side of the city , the lasagna is famous ! Pizza slice is picture worthy! Bake goods are all fresh and tasty ! Very good gelato , some very creative flavors . Always busy place .

Had a large margarita pizza. It is descent. Also had their Gelato- it was pretty good. Over the weekend it is very busy with long lineup. We go their often and find their quality consistently good.

  • Bernard So

Their pizza is so fresh and delicious - definitely the highlight for us. The lasagna is also quite nice but not as good as the pizza. Usually busy and a line-up to order but it's worth it.

Good place to have deserts. It's an Italian restaurant. I like their pastry. But they are only open up to 5pm, which is very tough to catch. The store is very cozy. Little bit expensive.

Lamanna’s bakery has everything from hot food to desserts. I’ve been here a couple of times and there was always a line up. Their baked goods and desserts are fresh and fairly priced.

  • Pink (Lea)

All in all was good. Really odd how the lines and pay system work, especially if its your first time you definitely need to ask someone or someone that's been there before fills you in

  • Mark Dunne

Great food and excellent value. Portion size was huge for the price. It's a busy little spot but the line moves quickly. Only wish they stayed open later to be able to pick up dinner!

Amazing Italian bakery and cafe. Big slice pizza and hot Italian sandwiches. Delicious desserts and gelato. Never a disappointment coming here and the lines are always worth it

Lots of baked goods, cakes, cake slices, hot food, coffee. Great place to stop for a birthday. Pizza is good & I like the variety of slices but crust is too thick for me.

  • Anum

I really liked their tomato sauce pasta, cannoli and cheese pizza. I wish they would stay open till later in the day and have the large pizza slice available in walk in..

  • Imad Assaker

Closest thing you’ll get to a NY slice. Fresh and tastes great. Very generous portion and a very low price. Definitely recommend. Barstool rating 8.9

  • Rachele

So good! I had many pastries. The churro was my favourite. I also purchased coffee beans to take home. The cannolis are very fresh. Very good!

Something here for everyone. Friendly attentive staff and despite being very busy you don't wait too long because they are staffed well.

I'd been following this place on instagram since the pandemic, and it did not disappoint. Sfogliatelle was the best I ever had.

  • Jolena Wright

We love getting the dessert pizzas here! Our kids always want their giant pizza dessert slice as their ‘birthday cake’.
