Warning, do not buy their products online and have them ship to your home! Laurel Street Bakery will NOT take accountability when delivery issues prevent your purchased goods reaching your requesting shipping address. I recently bought a King Cake online and paid for 2-day shipping, more than doubling the price of a King Cake at $50. A storm caused delays in shipping, which no one can predict, however it has now been 11 days after I ordered, and I still do not have the King Cake I paid for. I sent an email to LSB asking for an update and policy of the shipment is lost and got no reply. When I called them the first time, they had a recording that the storm had prevented shipments from arriving on time and to contact FedEx. I then called FedEx but was not able to locate or track my package. When I followed up with Laurel Street Bakery again via phone call, the employee who answered the call told me their policy was for customers to call FedEx and that they could not do anything for their customers, that as soon as FedEx picked it up, it was out of their hands. I mentioned that this was unprofessional, and although FedEx was responsible for the delay, LSB, was accountable for their products and satisfying their paying customers. I even mentioned that other local bakeries that are in NOLA were offering new products or refunds (yeah, I ordered multiple king cakes for my family). The woman I was speaking to said that my issue wasn’t their issue and they would do nothing to help me out. I then asked to speak to a manager or owner and was told that she couldn’t continue this conversation since there was a line in the store and then ended the conversation by hanging up on me. To me, during a time of worldwide uncertainty due to the global pandemic, I would think a small business would go the extra mile to serve their customers - that is why I was buying from them (as a former NOLA frequenter for business), supporting them. In today’s world we need to have some compassion...unfortunately Laurel Street Bakery does not when it comes to their out of state customers, this was shown today via their customer support.

I rarely write bad reviews, but it was that bad. Aside from food that is just ok at best, the service was terrible. When it was my turn to order, the cashier said, "I think I messed up that last guy's order." I said, "Do you want me to go grab him for you? I can see where he's sitting." She said, "No, I wouldn't worry about it. He can figure it out when he gets his food." That red flag should have sent me away. Once I finally got my mediocre food, my order was wrong as well. I went up to the register and very politely told the cashier that I wasn't given two of the things I had ordered. The cashier rolled her eyes and started digging through the trash for my receipt, as though she didn't believe me--even though she had admitted to me that she messed up the last guy's order. When she finally found my receipt and realized that I was missing two items I had paid for, she asked one of the other workers to grab me those two items, but she was glaring at me as she did so. I wasn't upset that my order was messed up. I'm a reasonable person that understands stuff like that just happens. I also worked in a cafe, so I know these mistakes are sometimes not even anyone's fault. Still, it was ridiculous to act like it was somehow my fault, or like I shouldn't have asked for the food I paid for.

Back in my Buffalo, New York days, I worked at a bagel bakery, so nowadays, I'm a bagel snob. Thankfully, I found Laurel Street Bakery, where they make bagels the old fashioned way: days of prep for more taste, boiled and baked. The results are worth it from the first crunchy bite with a hearty flavor inside. My personal favorite is a garlic bagel with shallot schmear. Mouthwatering. The other baked goods--muffins, bread (which I've convinced my kids is better than the bread-like substance they sell at the supermarket), muffins, cakes and croissants--are all first rate, and the service is solid. Great place to hangout on the weekends or to dash and grab during the week.

Ended up here because my normal bagel place was closed. Service was a bit lacking, waited several minutes at the counter, while two more parties came in, before being acknowledged. Was bummed there were no more plain bagels, but that's totally not their fault, I waited until after 9 am to decide I wanted a bagel. Ordered two breakfast sandwiches, and half a dozen bagels. Bagels came out quickly, the breakfast sandwiches did not. Waited almost 15 minutes for them. Which is practically forever when you're hangry. Overall, the food was solid, just not sure it was wait 15 minutes good. Chalking this up to after Hurricane Ida struggles and will try them again in the future.

My first experience here was not good. I'm new to the area and was excited that the nearest bakery had such good reviews. They are obviously understaffed which I can understand the wait, even on a Monday morning. But they were also out of plain croissants 30 minutes after opening? I ended up getting one chocolate croissant and one almond croissant for my mom. The chocolate croissant was great and fresh but the almond croissant was clearly left out overnight and was hard as a rock. I used to work in a breakfast bakery and we would never serve a stale pastry.

I’ve never been let down by Laurel Street Bakery. The bagels are always delicious. Their sandwich menu is also worth a gander as well! I usually get the Brooklyn (pictured), but my partner and I have done the American breakfast sandwich and the Frenchie. All of which have been great! They have a great dark roast, which is my go to for most coffee. I can’t say much when it comes to other baked goods since I haven’t tried them, but they look tempting. I also enjoy the front seating! The bar along the windows adds a pleasant touch and really nice light.

Looking for an affordable and delicious breakfast or lunch spot in New Orleans? Look no further than Laurel Street Bakery! This quaint and friendly bagel shop serves up mouth-watering sandwiches like the Frenchi, a ham and egg croissant with strawberry jelly, on freshly baked bagels. With a variety of toppings and friendly service, Laurel Street Bakery is the perfect spot for a quick bite or a leisurely meal. Highly recommended! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience while enjoying the art gallery paintings on the walls from local artists.

I ordered $200 worth of King Cakes for Mardi Gras this year and never received them. Laurel Street shipped via FedEx which is claiming they cannot get them out of Louisiana to Memphis because of a winter storm. It’s been over a week. I don’t know of any winter storm in the South that should cause a week’s delay out of Louisiana. FedEx is telling me that I have to have Laurel Street file a claim. Laurel Street has a notice posted that basically says “Not our problem”. This is terrible customer service. I would never order from this company again.

Bagel wasn’t toasted. Cut in 1/4’s and butter only on ones side. Super soggy. Reached in the bag and got a handful of super soggy bagel and lumpy butter. Couldn’t spread it around because it was only in clumps and no knife. The worst thing was how awfully soggy and soft the bagel was. Like white bread. I keep going back to see if the bad product production was just incidental. It’s not. After this I doubt I will be back. Went from being excited about a tasty bagel for breakfast to angry and disgusted on my way to work. Ruined my morning.

  • Lori Mellor

Laurel Street bakery helped me in planning a bridal brunch for 15 with only a few days notice. Hillary and her staff were extremely helpful, responsive to messages and very professional. The sandwich tray, breakfast pastry tray and desert tray was especially delicious and loved by all. The last minute addition of the Chocolate Covered Strawberry birthday cake was absolutely divine. I highly recommend Lauren Street Bakery for all your catering needs.

  • Margaret Long

So unhappy. Ordered a hot chai. It came out cold! When I asked for it to be warmed up, she got it so hot I couldn’t drink for 10 minutes. I also ordered a bagel with butter and cream cheese. We waited 15 minutes for our food and my bagel came covered and dripping in butter but with no cream cheese. I’m so annoyed that I just wasted 30 minutes and 25$ on this disappointing experience. Understaffed and careless!!!

  • David Dietz

The owner is very customer oriented and one heck of a talented baker. She stepped up and pulled me out of double trouble. I called in the morning and requested a birthday cake for my wife for that evening's dinner party to celebrate her birthday which was THAT DAY! By 1:30 that afternoon, I was heading home with an incredibly delicious cake. Perfectly decorated, absolutely wonderful! A very enjoyable experience!

  • Charles Carriere

Great little joint for a good breakfast. Staff is super-friendly. Food came out quickly, but there was definitely room to linger over a second cup of coffee.

These lovely ladies make a wonderful breakfast or light lunch for you 6 days a week. I like the fantastic bagels with a sun dried tomato spread, smoked salmon, and an iced coffee to get my day going. Came for the bagels, stayed for the love. I can’t go today, and that makes me sad. If you don’t want to be sad, start your day here!

  • Ben D

Nice place. Not NYC bagels. The everything should be the everything else bagel, there was a lot on it but not what you expect from a everything bagel. Very friendly staff. And fast service. Just not what I want in a bagel place. The other items in the display case look great, so I might come try them

  • Alli Seale

Kid approved! I’m so glad we happened to stop here on our way to the zoo. The food was absolutely delicious. My youngest is very picky and he says “it deserves 10 stars!” Everyone is very friendly. The location is easy to get to and has a great atmosphere- its very cute inside with lots of fun art.

  • Jordan Gonzales

Good food and very nice staff. Only thing that is disappointing is the price really. Especially when you consider the juxtaposition of leftist decor in the inside and one of the more poorer areas of New Orleans on the outside. It definitely gives "socially liberal, but fiscally conservative" …

  • Charles Corprew

One of best places in New Orleans. Service is amazing led by Mr. ED. He is the true epiotme of New Orleans, kind, playful, empathetic, intelligent and super friendly. Hilary, the owner is awesome as well along with Courtney and Carrie, they make LSB a great place to work and play.

  • Lynze Proctor

Wonderful spot! I got the Frenchie on a croissant and an iced americano. Came out super fast and delicious. The lady working at the front counter was absolutely wonderful. She knew the name to almost everyone that walked in. Lovely art hanging on the wall and a cozy atmosphere.

  • Jennifer Clark

I wanted to hate this place. I really tried. It's a little too opinionated. A little too politically correct for my taste. But damn it, the food is phenomenal. The bagels are fresh and the prices are spot on for the quality. Well played, Laurel Street Bakery. Well played.

  • Jacob Garcia

Delicious food, great service and staff, and lovely atmosphere. All of their bread was perfectly baked and the staff members offered great conversation and recommendations. This was my first time here but will be visiting anytime I find myself in New Orleans

  • Nazary Nebeluk

For my money these are the best bagels in New Orleans. Getting one of their tasty sandwiches on them is just a plus. They also have great iced coffee. The service can be a little slow but the prices are pretty good. If I lived closer I'd be here a lot more.

  • C D

Friendly staff, great service, delicious baked goods, ample seating, and outlets. Great place to study or meetup. The bagels are mediocre; better than a Panera bagel but definitely not as good as the type of new york bagels sold at steins or humble bagel.

  • Mike S

Literally the best bagels in the city. I’m so glad I discovered this gem! Their house made cream cheese spreads (like 6 different options!) are all so delicious. ALWAYS super friendly and quick service. It’s such a delight to go here! Highly recommended

  • Camilla Franklin

We are renovating our kitchen, so we eat out all the time, and by far this is one of our favs. The bagels are the best we have found. Coffee is excellent. Wide variety of breakfast sandwiches. Easy parking nice seating in a clean and bright interior.

  • Jessica Dobson

Outstanding food in a beautiful sunny space with delightful staff. I had the Tuscan on Onion and Garlic for lunch and came back for breakfast for the same the very next day! Bonus: coffee and tea comes with a free refill, so it's super affordable!

  • Paget O'Connor

We had a wonderful wedding brunch while getting ready for the wedding. They delivered delicious bagels and croissant sandwich and don’t forget the coffee. It was hassle free and delivered on time so thank you Laurel Bakery for your services.

  • John Allread

Bagels were delicious and well-blistered. The Brooklyn was one of the best lox bagels I’ve had, with plenty of good fish, and thinly sliced onions. The California sandwich and scallion bacon cream cheese also got rave reviews from my party.

  • Olivar Morales

The staff are always the best. I rarely ever visit but they somehow remember my name ( I pay in cash, so it's not the card, lol) and the food is BEYOND delicious. Every sandwich is made with love and every drink is a delicious treat.

  • Joseph Crowley

A bit overpriced on the coffee, considering it's pretty average. Nice atmosphere. Workers seemed stressed, considering it was fairly quiet. Nonetheless, if you're looking for a coffee shop to chat at for awhile, would recommend.

  • L S

The most delicious, fresh bagels. Great staff and lovely overall feel... perfect for a weekday morning... but now that they're open WEEKENDS TOO!!! it's perfect for your Saturday or Sunday bagel & tea or coffee. Delightful.

  • Leatrice White

My daughter ordered a sandwich, which she hated but I loved. I ordered the French toast, which I hated because it was really only toast. The fruit was only so-so,and the chocolate moose should be avoided at all costs!

  • Stacey Delight

They are absolutely amazing! I love the Brooklyn Bagel. The service is always phenomenal and the crew is consistent. I'm not sure who the bakery DJ is but I can get lost for hours. Whatever you need, they have it.

  • Paula

  • Julie Hoge

Went for breakfast every day on vacation because it was so good. The bagel breakfast sandwiches are cooked fresh and could not be better. Loved the iced coffees as well . Great service!!

  • Callie Mikesell

It was fine. The service was very kind. I'd heard great things about the food, so this was kind of disappointing. Their bagels and spreads are pretty good. Everything else is overpriced.

  • Felix Guerrero

Delectably delicious... in house made pastries, breads, and goodies for your taste buds. Sandwiches are amazingly scrumptious, and the salads are so flavorful. Dont skip this place by!
