DO NOT USE THIS FACILITY!! I agree with a previous review. The staff at this hospital dont know what is going on. Very poor communication. 1 star is to many. Come to find out this hospital is not on "real time" computer charting and can not e-scribe Rx's to your pharmacy. As of 1/1/21 Texas law a patient can not take a paper script for a narcotic. Due to their antique charting practices I would not use this facility till they come into this century. The RN case manager is very condescending. Your patients are not 2 and you can talk to them like adults or go back to the pediatric unit. First the Dr tells you what date and time surgery will be a month prior. That's great as the family can make plans and adjust their schedule for day of surgery. But when they call you less than 24 hours before to tell you to come 4 hours earlier really does not help as arrangements had already been made with the spouses job etc. Day of surgery is a complete farce. You pull up to the door and drop ur family members off with a kiss good bye and hope they live through surgery as the spouce can not be at the hospital. "Covid you know" !! What a joke the staff all are able to get the covid vaccine what are they worried about? The rest of the non medical population has to still go to work without it and hope they dont get it. My husband was told the dr will call your wife when done. So imagine to my surprise that a 90 min major surgery 2 hours later no call from dr or hospital staff. I waited 3 hours call the pre-OP nurse and she had no idea where my husband was. So finally the dr calls way past the 3 hour mark to tell me he was out of surgery an hour before he called. When your hospital is running a drive thru surgery site it would be nice to have a staff member call during the procedure and give an update as to the status of the patient. But no we the family just have to sit wait and worry due to the LACK of communication at this facility. Oh well it's not their loved one being carved and up like a piece of meat! A complete lack of complete understanding, compassion and empathy for the worried family left at home because they refuse to set up a surgical waiting room somewhere on the hospital campus. Sorry but we are 10 months into Covid and it's a poor excuse for this hospital to hide behind. I am supposed to pick this patient up tomorrow, well I have one thing to say to that. Due to Covid I will pick him up when I am good and ready and will not jump when the hospital says he can leave. He will be picked up at 2359!! If a nurse calls me I will not answer!! Shame on you .

I had an artificial disc replacement in July and was required to stay at Legent overnight for precautionary measures. This was a fantastic experience! The hospital contacted me directly to schedule pre-op labs around my schedule and reassure me they were available to answer any question or address any concern. I like to know so I asked about visitors (during COVID), visiting hours and recommendations at home once I left. The information they provided relieved my anxiety. I woke up from anesthesia in a huge patient room with warm blankets and cold water waiting to sooth my sore throat. Staff was in and out for about an hour and each one introduced themselves with an explanation of why they were there. At the point of true consciousness, I didn’t remember any of their names. The first one I asked simply pointed to a board on the wall and said, “All of our names are there so you know who to ask for”. There was one person on the board I didn’t know about, “Administrator”. She reassured me to contact that number if anything was not addressed. I seriously wanted to out of disbelief, but that too went away when the Administrator walked in and introduced herself later that night. She came in after hours to visit patients and see if any of us needed anything outside the care of what they were providing. She reiterated her number was there if I needed it once she left. The staff was extremely confident and considerate of my pain level, food intake and mobility. They were always there to assist with getting out of bed and encouraged me to do it often so I was confident to do it when I left. The amount of consideration that went into my 24 hour stay was incredible: medication for pain control, comfort that exceeds hotels I’ve stayed at, safety, encouragement, and most of all the confidence to leave and be independent to heal. If you are considering surgery, look them up and see if your doctor performs there. I recommend finding a doctor that does.

I am getting the best care at Legent Spine & Orthopedic Hospital here in San Antonio, Tx. Being a Retired Health Care Professional as a Rehab Director for about 8 years of my 26 years in the field of Physical Therapy who traveled around the eastern seabord of Virginia, Delleware, Maryland and throughout Texas filling in where someone was out on medical leave or just having staffing issues. In all these years I have never come across a medical facility so responsive, caring, and professional. It is very clean, the food is so delicious. I just had the yummiest cream of mushroom soup and the most delicious salad ever. Spinach, cranberries, grilled chicken, fresh strawberries, candied pecans which where out of this world good, red onions and a mixd of mild cheddar cheese and mozzarella lightly sprinkled over the salad and a strawberry vinaigrette dressing that was yummy. I'm so impressed with this place I just can not rave about it enough and trust me I am a hard one to please. I have high standars and expectations, coming from an era where Quality Of Care was the standard not a rearity like itbseems to be in present times. The doctors, my surgeon, the anesthesiologist the whole surgical team, post op medical team, PT, nursing even the other staff members housekeeping, food services they're just awesome and friendly. They are on top of my pain management making sure I am not in too much pain which is important in being able to participate in my Physical Therapy and getting in and out of bed to go to bath room. I have not had to wait and wait on someone when I push the call bell they are on top if it. Like I said earlier responsive... The atmosphere is such a nice vibe. It is quiet and relaxed. I am recommending them as the go to for any Orthopedic Surgical Need. I still need the another knee replacement on the left knee to be done in about 3 moths or so and I will be back no doubt about it...

First time patient on Nov 7 for Lknee replacement. Admission staff were pleasant. Several attempts made for IV was uncomfortable. Had to ask repeatedly for assistance to walk after surgery, as was recommended. Equipment didn't work properly, i.e. compression boot. Told the CNA, only to be told "sometimes it has a mind if it's own" - after looking at me (and I her) for a long period of time, she asked if I wanted one that worked. I told her I did because it served an important purpose. She humored me by taking it off, walking out the door - then immediately back in with the same boot in the opposite hand. When checking out, I was given a walker, had to almost beg for a potty assist by justifying my request to the Physical Therapist, who wanted to know why I needed one (my walker would not fit into my home commode room). I was never offered a cane, which I did need. Thank goodness my neighbor loaned me hers. I didn't expect to have to justify getting proper rehab equipment. Have never had problems before getting more than one stick for an IV. Fully expected all the equipment on my recovery bed to work. Floor nurses were helpful and attentive. Room was clean- meals were good.

You are definitely pushed out quickly. This hospital left a bad taste in my mouth. My surgeon set up my surgery here. I had been in contact with the hospital for at least a month. 1st - I was not informed of anything due until approx 5 days prior to surgery. This was completely unprofessional and left me in a as state of panic. 2nd, I received A text message fr9m th3 hospital stating that my appointment was at 10 o'clock in the morning. This was completely incorrect; luckily for me I called my surgeon and was told 8 was to be there at 6 am because surgery was approx 9 am. 3rd, after the surgery was complete it was not explaining to my Husband how to do any of the drainage for the drainage tube that was implanted in my neck nor did they know how to adjust my cervical collar leaving it lose and unsupportive of my neck from surgery - a review requirement. Finally After being nauseous from the anesthesia and given multiple shots to curtail it, I was left Incapacitated by these meds. They still had me leave the hospital barely conscious. If you want a good hospital I recommend any other but this one. Start to finish i was not impressed nor was my conscious husband.

First off I am curious as to why anyone would give a business a rating BEFORE they use it - especially a negative one. My experience was TOP NOTCH from beginning to end. Dr Phelps was our doctor and he was a consummate professional. Dr. Phelps called immediately after my husband’s procedure with an update on how the surgery went. We had a positive experience with every person we encountered which leads me to believe some of these other reviews were written by people that have never been here. Attitude has a lot to do with the experience you have. If you are the entitled, everything revolves around me type, I am sure you can find something to complain about. If you realize the world doesn’t revolve around you, your experience will probably be better. My husband is due to have his other hip replaced. This is the ONLY facility we will consider. Love Dr. Phelps even though I have spent less than 20 mins with him. All I need him to do is his job not baby me. After reading some of these reviews I am appalled because half of the complaints have NOTHING to do with actual surgery and recovery.

The Legent Hospital was a positive setting and a positive experience with expert staffing and considerate support personnel from the reception area to the waiting room to the cafeteria. I would have given it 5 stars; however, when it came to being discharged from the hospital it was discouraging. I know that waiting your turn in a busy hospital is certainly acceptable and understandable. My one and only concern is that we were told numerous times we would be seeing the PT and then a doctor would complete the discharge process. This information was given to us starting at 8:30 and repeated thereafter many times. At 2:00, after I pressed for an explanation, we were told that a PT called in sick and the discharge doctor had just arrived at the hospital. This is certainly still understandable, what isn’t understandable, is that we were not given the reality of the situation until 2:00. It became a confusing situation, at best, and an issue of miscommunication.

I am what I personally describe as a "Repeat" customer. I was there for> My R Knee Replacement in 10/2020, And again early 01/2021 to repair a serious/severe fracture of my L Ankle(Tibia&Fibula) And again Sept/Oct 2022 for my L Shoulder Replacement, all done by the one Orthopedic Surgeon: Dr Christopher Phelps and next week 12/05/2023 I will return for my L Knee Replacement and to be blunt, there is no hesitation in going there as with each and every single surgery I had and will continue to have in my Orthopedic health there is no other Hospital I would entrust to care for me. This has been my opinion and I stand by my statement / review. Thank you also goes out to my Orthopedic Surgeon as well as the assorted staff that has always worked hard to ensure my pain control as well as my overall well being. Thank You so much as my upcoming L Knee Replacement quickly approaches !

My state at allegiant Hospital was outstanding just as the whole staff also was outstanding. They treated me so well and every question I had they answered for me. I usually go to the VA hospital but wanted a surgeon who had some good reviews so I chose the allegiant hospital to do my spine surgery. I am now in Inpatient therapy. Healing and every day is better. They put my mind at ease on the morning of my surgery because they stopped to look and listen to me and realized I was a nervous wreck but even that they treated me so well that my mind was at ease when I went into surgery. Always on time with my medication with my wound dressing everything from A-to-Z they covered .Excellent staff and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone that needs back surgery I think God for the team that I had there. Amen

  • Steve Lanciault

Watch out what you pay up front before your surgery! My review has nothing to do with the care I received which was very good. As you know, they make sure you pay your part prior to your surgery or, no surgery. Well I had back surgery in February of 2022, after all the billing was finally rectified and insurance paid, I discovered I was overcharged by approximately $2,400. If I didn’t research all of the billing, nothing would have been done. I have placed several calls now to their billing office and spoken to supervisors but still not received my money back. You know damn well if I owed them $2,400, I’d be getting calls every day. All I want is my own money back….it’s been almost a year now. Is there anyone in your organization that can make that happen?

  • Mark Espinoza

My wife had back surgery and the both of us were very nervous and apprehensive. But the moment we walked into admissions Melody made us feel right at home. The rest of my wife's experience was awesome. From the nurses to the guy taking my wife's food order every day it was a great experience. I want to acknowledge some of the nurses that were outstanding and made my wife's stay comfortable and worry free. Outstanding nurses were...Tara...JD....Jen....Rosanna...Relle...Michelle and many others. Sorry if I left anyone out. The nurses and staff communicated and explained everything to my wife in great detail making my wife's stay worry free. I am happy that I was able to stay with my wife throughout her entire stay.

  • elsa cruz

I was treated with care and compassion. Everyone that my family came into contact with they were also treated with care and compassion. I had my own personal nurse from the beginning of my pre-surgery through the moment I was in my room. That is GREAT CARE!!!! From start to finish — my stay there was very easy and every step was explained in detail and at no time were we ever talked downed too nor did they use any medical jargon. I recommend this awesome place to anyone. It is Wonderfully awesome when the staff have respect and pride for the Surgeons. The facility was kept clean and orderly - the housekeeping staff work hard 24/7 and they availed themselves to me and my family.

  • MAR COR8589

My precious wife is scheduled to have surgery and can you believe it? The only thing these people are concerned with is collecting monies from our insurance co-pay. They did not ask how she was doing or show any concern for her welfare, they were concerned for money! Sad our world and health care system has lost their way when it comes to patient empathy and ethics! Yes we will obviously pay ahead of time but I wanted future patients to read this review and consider going elsewhere if possible. These people don't deserve to be in this field. Very cold and insensitive. I hope that their family members never get treated like this when they need health care!!

  • RoseMarie Crow

My husband was here for knee replacement surgery. We only had 2 nurses that even seemed like that knew somewhat of what was going on. He was there for 3 days - and blood and urine on his gown and bedding. I was the one who asked for replacements and I was the one who changed him and gave him clean bedding. No one showed him how to shower for when he got home. Doctors here are absolutely amazing. Therapists were fantastic. But nurses do not communicate nor do they come in and check on patients. Went for hours and saw absolutely no one!! I believe one star is too many. Very disappointed and very happy to have left!!!!

  • Valerie Palomo

First off they allow no kids in hospital. I’m my dad’s caregiver and I had to handover the reins to my brother. I visited my dad the night of surgery and to my dismay he was not given his medication. He has congestive heart failure in which he accumulates fluid in legs, lungs, etc.. His hands were swollen since he’s been on IV drip all day and only went to bathroom once! My dad’s surgery was today May 5th 2022. I’m glad I came tonight to check on him. The shift that took over at night was helpful and I addressed the situation so hopefully this will not continue with future patients once this post comment is posted.

  • T Z

Only reason I give 2 stars is because the pre-op nurses that I dealt with were good and the RT and PT were good. Nurses on the floor were rude and condescending. Mainly my night nurse. She had no empathy whatsoever. She didn't want to let my family in the room with me then blamed it on me. They treated me as if I was putting them out, when I did need assistance, didn't even come to the room to help me to the bathroom after having a revision of a TKR. I can go on. I've already notified them, and I can only hope they do something about this kind of bedside manor and professionalism. I know I'll never go back.

  • LaJana Yalowsky

I had total knee replacement in June 2022 at Legent. From the check in till my discharge I receive exceptional care! Everyone was very accommodating and I felt very well taken care of. I had a previous knee surgery in 2021… and the care I received at Legent and from Dr. Phelps is SO much better! I am a month out now and doing great! No comparison to my first horrible surgery that was done by another Dr. In another facility. My pain was well managed this time! It gave me a great start for rehab! Thanks to everyone at Legent and Dr Phelps for the outstanding care!! I HIGHLY recommend them both!!

  • Noelia Elizondo

Was an inpatient at this facility on March 3rd for a laminectomy decompression surgery. I recommend this facility very highly. The staff are very professional and the building itself is held at a very high standard. It's very clean and employees wear their masks just like patients do. Kuddos to CNA Cynthia for taking care of me. She was caring, compassionate and always gave her all during my stay there. It would have been a five star review but because of covid-19 restrictions no one is allowed to acommpany the patient after their surgery and you won't see them until you are discharged.

  • S B

I’ve had 2 orthopedic surgeries there this year, surgery wise, both have been great! The problem, I was told I owed a fee upon arrival of first surgery, I knew I had already met all my deductibles for the year and paid all out of pocket expenses, but the administrative staff required the payment ($1700+) before surgery. I have been waiting since September for reimbursement, still no refund (12/22/23). There billing department is the worst! Verify what and if you will owe anything before going To appointment. Their billing call center seems to be out of the country, they are useless!

  • Amy Alvord

Recently had my knee replacement surgery there, I had a good experience with the registration dept and the Pre-op nurses, the floor was a different story, I had a charge nurse come into my room in the early morning hours asking what pharmacy I use, in the meantime I’m crying with pain not one caring bone in her body to ask what I needed or if I was ok.. she got her info and just walked out the door then the day of my discharge I felt like I was being rushed to get out the door. Needless to say I had a mixed review of my time there. Compassion goes a long way!!

  • Seth Prescott

Wow, what a great experience! From the CEO to the discharge nurse and everyone in between! Great attitudes, thoughtfulness, professionalism with personality! The process was super smooth and easy and everyone was super nice to work with! The facility was safe and super clean. They followed all of the COVID guidelines. My Son was so well taken care of. Also my insurance company said the pricing was much less than some of the other places in town. If you are considering surgery I would highly recommend this facility!

  • Melanie Bates

I had back surgery and not happy about not meeting the surgeon who did my surgery I was told I would meet him in the surgery room, that never happened, he didn't even come see me after the surgery as well. also I can say from the whole staff that helped after the surgery there was maybe about 5 of the staff that were amazing..all the others no bedside manor at all and you know when u have been thru something traumatic you need that from the staff welllllll I DID NOT GET IT THERE .So my opinion I rated them a 2

  • Janice Confer

Doctors and nurses sent my husband home with a Pic. Did not cover it, wrap it, or secure it. I just now saw it on our way home as we’re driving 45 miles from the hospital to the house. This was a very enlightening three day stay in the hospital. Just got discharged tonight and the whole time we were there short staffed and unknowledgeable workers. We will be thinking twice when he gets his second knee replacement done hopefully within the next six months. We will not be using this hospital again.

  • Michelle Rizley

Do NOT use this facility for your surgery. No one has any idea what is going on. Was told 3 different times to arrive, had post op people checking on me the day BEFORE my surgery to see how I was recovering. The day of my surgery they had none of my records from my doctors, nothing, no medical history, no diagnosis, all they had was my name and phone number. I was told my procedure was out patient by my doctor, facility said I was going to be there 3 days. No one knows anything here.

  • myreo neely

Well my wife is scheduled at Legent surgical hospital in June a little scared after reading the reviews hmm makes me thank maybe she should get a second opinion. That is the reason for the 1 star haven't had an experience here yet but hopefully it will be a 5 star after my wife's surgery if she decides to go here because she is very worried after reading the reviews. Please treat my wife good she has been suffering for so long I dont want her to have a bad experiance.

  • Mario rosales

Went in for shoulder surgery it was just going to be outpatient surgery but it turned out to be 2 days and being forced to take toradol which I kept refusing cause I was having a reaction to the meds but no one listened and they kept on giving it to me.finally on Thursday evening I had enough I was tired of throwing up from the toradol and told them that I was going home and I called my wife and had her pick me up. So yeah one star is all you get

  • Krista Julian

My Dad had knee replacement surgery done at Legent Hospital. This is a small hospital that specializes in orthopedic surgery, so everyone’s focus is orthopedic including the nurses and PT. All of the staff were professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and very courteous. Preoperative procedures were clear and concise. Post surgery nurses including Tara and Mara took good care of him and treated us like family.

  • Johnny Castillo

Everyone here Care's about you and goes out of there way to make sure stay is comfortable. I had a knee replacement surgery on the 28th of October and was taken care of by a wonderful staff during the day and night. If you are going to be there for surgery feel comfortable that they will take care of you before and after. Thank you legent for making me as if I was at home. - Johnny Castillo

  • Sarita

This is the best hospital I have ever been to, and I’ve been all over the country as a nurse and a patient. The employees are kind, caring, and wonderful people. I had surgery here 2 years ago and now my son is having the same surgery. Other hospitals should take lessons from them. Dr Vardiman performed both my surgery and my son’s. He is a wonderful surgeon and overall a great person.

  • ronald ray

By far the BEST NURSES in San Antonio are here. Cafeteria is Top Notch also. Actually ALL departments are great. Checking in was so easy and the people very sweet and accommodating. This is my third time here. Had a wonderful experience all three times. Thank you Legent for making my experience extremely pleasant.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ This is Virginia Ray not Ronald.

  • Rickyp

Had a Hip replacement there a week ago, with Dr. Richard Steffen. My experience there was great, from the in patients check in, to all the nurses there that helped me. The nurses there are very professional and went beyond their Job description. My nurses took very good care of me. Had a nice room and the beds were very comfortable. Keep up the great work.

  • Caroline Brenning

Everyone is professional and courteous. Dr.Ahmed and Dr.Miller are absolutely amazing!! Thank you and your team so much for everything that you do! They performed life changing surgery, and helped my significant other tremendously! After years of being in pain, these Doctors and their staff have really helped him! Thank you so much!!!

  • Alan Hart

It is rare to have a surgery and be able to say that I didn’t meet one person that wasn’t fantastic but that was my experience when I had my hip replaced. Every person I came in contact with was so nice and driven to ensure I had the best care possible. I highly recommend this facility if you have to have surgery. Alan H.

  • Sheila Stephens

My son is scheduled for a C-5 repair sometime in Feb 2021, I am hoping for a good experience for him since no one is allowed inside the hospital due to COVID and because of previous reviews. Hoping the staff has compassion for the love one who will have questions due to not being able to come inside the hospital.

  • J Thompson

My wife had back surgery last week. All good with good outcome. One problem: No one asked for money. We owe a deductible. I looked for an email address so that I could ask about this. None shown. I don't want to waste my time trying to find the right person by phone so I'll just wait and see if a bill shows up.

  • Michael Crow

Just had back surgery here. The entire staff were very professional and so nice to me and my wife. The facility is clean, quiet, modern for you and your guest. The food was amazing and they didn't short you on portions. Hopefully I never have surgery again but if I do Legent would be my hospital.

  • Alma and Randy Malesky

What an amazing place, from the moment I arrived until Martell wheeled me out to the car Legent's staff was polite, responsive, and professional. This goes from the door monitor to the chief preparing the meals. Made my surgery and stay go exceptionally well. Thank you!

  • R De La Fuente

I am scheduled for Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion surgery at the end of January. Judging by the reviews of past patients, I am hoping that I have a positive experience. I am giving this 3 stars, because it's a neutral rating. And I have not had my surgery yet.

  • Ajay Kumar

Great experience at Legent hospital. All the nurses, cna and kitchen staff were very friendly . They took care of me and made me as comfortable as possible after my surgery. A 5 star experience from: Tina, RN, Mara, RN, Jessica, RN and Natasha, CNA.

My wife had C5 C6 surgery today. I spent the entire day cleaning up 5 throwing up events without the help of the staff. My wife was in horrible pain and didn’t see a doctor until 9 hours after surgery. This is unbelievable
