You can't fail to notice the tower of this impressive cathedral on the Liverpool skyline, but it's not until you visit it that you really appreciate its immense size and grandeur. It's the largest cathedral in the UK, and it's free to enter. I came here with a group and did a guided tour with Barbara, a friendly and knowledgeable guide who really brought its history to life. She took us to see the cathedral's foundation stone, laid in 1904 by King Edward VII. The architecture, with its soaring arches and beautiful stained glass, is awe-inspiring. I was very impressed with the elaborate stone carving on the reredos behind the high altar. But the highlight for me was going downstairs to the ornate Lady Chapel, absolutely beautiful, and the windows commemorating some of the great women who have contributed so much throughout history were very inspiring. Had a nice lunch before the tour in the cathedral café, where they serve a variety of hot and cold dishes including traditional scouse. Service was very quick. Had a ham and cheese toasted ciabatta with house salad and a mug of tea, and enjoyed it so much that I went back there after the tour and tried one of their delicious cherry scones! There are clean accessible toilets, a beautiful gift shop and plenty of parking space. Did not get to go up the tower for the panoramic views, but I intend to do that next time I'm here! All in all an enjoyable and inspiring visit!

The Anglican Liverpool Cathedral was well worth a visit. I appreciated the fact that it was donations rather than a set entrance fee which sadly is all too common these days in places of worship. Nice architecture and wonderfully friendly 'staff', helpers around the cathedral who invited visitors of any religious denomination to join with them in prayer if they so wished if a service was underway. Make sure you walk all the way round to the all but hidden away Lady Chapel, the first part of the cathedral to be built. Look out for the stained glass windows celebrating women of all classes who were considered to have contributed to society in various ways. The Cathedral is definitely worth a visit if visiting the Liverpool area.

Visited the cathedral as part of a weekend in Liverpool for the Christmas market etc. with my partner. The entrance staff were pleasant and very helpful. We walked around the cathedral together and separately and both enjoyed what we experienced. We enjoyed a hot drink and cake from the cafe too. Service was pretty good, given that it was fairly busy. Again, the staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend the cathedral as an addition to your itinerary for sightseeing in Liverpool and, in case you're nervous about such things, no one approached us with the intention of recruiting us into the Christian church. (That last comment is added light-heartedly and isn't meant to cause any offence)

Is there a huge cathedral. I really appreciate how beautiful the red bricks look under the sunsets. The inside is huge and has a lot of empty spaces. Most of the glasses are blue. There is a gift shop and bookshop in the front and a café in the back. I am not sure if the bookshop only sells religious books. I didn’t take a closer look. Unfortunately, the chairs are just regular contemporary chairs, not the wooden old-fashioned long benches, not like other churches or cathedrals usually have, so they look very misfit, and a bit uncomfortable to sit there for a long time. There are not many areas inside this cathedral that are blocked so you can pretty much walk around anywhere.

Visited here for the first time on Xmas Eve - 24-12-23 for the Xmas Carol Service and had a wonderful evening. Upon arrival I was taken back in awe by the sheer size of the magnificent cathedral. It truly is breath-taking! Once inside, I gasped taking in the high ceilings and gothic architecture as well as the sounds of the mighty organ. It is a sight to behold and the organ sounds amazing! It was very atmospheric going for a service. I had a lovely evening. The Cathedral is absolutely stunning, not just a place of worship and reflection but also in architecture. A work of art and engineering. If you are in Liverpool visiting, do come and see the Cathedral. It is truly amazing!

Beautiful and exciting cathedral, both inside and outside. A place of worship but also turist attraction with a cafe that sits partly inside the main bit of the cathedral with chairs and tables but also outside. There is a shop also that you can buy small gifts to support the church as the entrance is free. Very inclusive which is brilliant as anyone can just go in and enjoy this beautiful building. My mind is pretty blown to be honest. I’ve stood in St. Peter’s in Rome and it did not have the endless Vastness of this Cathedral. It is a builders wonder, SO many intricate details in the Queens Chapel! So much history and a grandeur unheard of from common masons and stonecutters. Terrific restaurant on site with delicious delectables and the staff… wow, they were amazing, informative and eloquent. True servants of God and mankind. Very sweet and knowledgeable. The bookstore has affordable gifts for the whole family. This Cathedral is well Worth your time and a generous donation.

The eighth-largest church in the world, Liverpool Cathedral is the biggest cathedral and religious structure in Britain.The interiors are just stunning. The walls and pillars are beautifully done. There's so much peace and you feel that positivity the moment you step in. I was so happy to see the crib outside and one inside made with handmade cloth dolls. There's a cafe inside. A must visit place when in Liverpool.

An absolute must visit if you are in Liverpool. It is a magnificent building inside and not as old as it appears. Some fantastic stained glass windows and architecture inside to explore. Helpful volunteers on hand to help you, and there is a guide book avadible in the shop to give a bit more information on the cathedral. The climb to the top of the tower includes a few steps but is mostly by lift, and at the top, the view gives an unlimited view of the city and surrounding area. When you get back down there is a cafe and small shop or you can wonder around again!

Today we visited both cathedrals in Liverpool, beginning with this one. It is absolutely huge and was buzzing with activity. We explored quite a lot of the cathedral; every time we thought we had seen everything, we found a new section! The high vaulted ceilings were perfect for the art installation on show and I loved the stained glass and gothic features. There were a lot of steps, including drops of a few steps which made access for those in wheelchairs and those with pushchairs quite difficult.

Love visiting the cathedral. Free, just a donation if you can. Such a vast space, yet warm and welcoming. Beautiful. Spacious. Easy to walk around. Great floors for those with sight or mobility challenges. You can sit and take it all in for hours. Could not go up tower on Sunday afternoon due to bell ringing practice taking place. The first place I visited in Liverpool, just a 3-4 stop ride from the train station by bus. Mind-blowing architecture with a nice and calm environment. We had a warm welcome from some staff and they handed us a broucher. Seem a small gift shop and food donation box on the left hand side as we pass the front desk. The prayer place is just so peaceful and relaxing. Upstairs are accessible but it's paid (have not tried). Time spent- 20-30 minutes (visiting and sightseeing)

It is the 4th largest cathedral in the world, but that is where the “magic” ends. It is a place of worship and of reverence, but they allowed people in dressed in hardly any clothes, allowed women to breastfeed and change babies in the cafe where we ate, and didn’t stop kids from screaming and playing with echoes. The tower climb is great, and there isn’t much more to see here except the vastness of the facility.

Went on the Above and Beyond tour and it was absolutely amazing. The guides were entertaining and knowledgeable both about the cathedral itself and the area. We went to many fascinating areas through little walkways and along high balconies. The views of both the city and the inside of the cathedral were fabulous. Was over two hours and it flew by. Definitely recommend this tour and the cathedral.

An amazing building from the architectural and spiritual viewpoints. Its size is awesome. Although it's not the largest cathedral in the UK it apparently is the longest. The stained glass windows and other features inside are quite incredible. As well as performing marriage ceremonies the actual reception and meal can be held here and on our visit the dining tables were on view. Well worth a visit.

Absolutely breathtaking. If you’re in or new to Liverpool, this is a must see. According to Wikipedia, this is the 5th largest cathedral in the world, and it shows. Also, stick around to hear the magnificent organ during a service. So worth it. I will add that I definitely felt spiritually uplifted after singing with the choir, congregation and organ during a service.

Definitely the place to go in Liverpool. Free and very nice to see. It's huge and even from the outside looks impressive. Entrance is free and 5£ optional donation is encouraged. There are plenty of toilets inside and even cafeteria to have drink and something to eat you can drink and attend mass at the same times. There was also temporary art installation when we were there.

It is immensely fantastic and moving, I couldn't go up to the tower viewing platform because it was getting very late, but the views from the tower must be wonderful. A church that touched my heart. The magnificent architecture is awe inspiring. It makes me breathless when I see the size of the cathedral from afar. The whole cathedral is comparable to minsters. The best part is that the entry is free ( unlike most attractions in UK). The parking is also free for one hour. But better to check the cathedral schedule before visiting. Some sessions are not for visitors.

A stunning piece of architecture that stands out along the city skyline and is a tall imposing structure on top of the hill. One of the most famous sites of the city and a nice spot to visit while visiting. The shear size of this building is incredible and will leave you awestruck.
