I am a person who is really sensitive and quite frankly a sook when it comes to spicy food. Assuming I was safe at a pizza shop, avoiding things like jalepenos and pepperoni. The pizza I ordered had a "capsicum base" as capsicums aren't spicy and everything else on the list of ingredients was suitable I ordered the "king kofta" pizza. I barely took a bite before my mouth was burning. I headed over to the counter to order the popcorn chicken in shame thinking I maybe didn't read the ingredients properly, but on closer inspection there is nothing mentioned there that would cause the fire of death I was experiencing in my mouth. After speaking to the staff they explained that there was chili in the capsicum base. Please know chili is an allergen for a lot of people, especially asthmatics. While I'm not allergic and just find the experience extremely uncomfortable, for some people it can be dangerous. The staff were nice but offered me no apology on the matter, even though it was the shortcomings of the menu description that was at fault. Its sad to think I will think twice before coming back after this experience, as previous visits have been enjoyable.

Nice pizza, great base, friendly staff just don't dare ask for half/half which i must admit is written on the menu but i didn't notice until after i ordered. We had our 2 children with us which are fussy eaters and one will only eat mushrooms and cheese whilst the other only ham and cheese and because the pizza only come in the one huge size it would have have been crazy to order them a pizza each so i asked for half/half, half mushroom and half ham. The lady i was ordering from was nice and polite and told me they don't usually do this but then another young girl stepped out from behind her to but in and quiet rudely repeated, No Half/Half, so i tried explaining my circumstance and said we would be throwing away money buying 3 pizzas to which she replied they would be throwing away money making it for us because it's hard for the chef. (Keep in mind this is a 2 ingredient pizza for $21). I understand they have there rules but she was rude to a point that made us uncomfortable and wishing we never ordered there. They ended up doing our order for us but only because others (maybe a manager) stepped in. I can't say i agree this to be a child friendly establishment but they do make a good pizza.

Calling all pizza lovers! Local Pizza is a pizz-tacular haven that'll leave you dough-eyed and craving for more! Their pizzas are a symphony of flavors, with toppings that dance together like pepperoni on a sizzling disco floor! The crust is so fluffy and airy, it's like a cheesy cloud gently descending from pizza heaven! But the real topping on the pizza is their staff, led by the remarkable Sophie! She's a true pizza artist, skillfully slinging pies with a wink and a sprinkle of parmesan magic. Her helpfulness knows no bounds, like an infinite supply of tomato sauce! And with her cool shoes, those kicks are pepper-ific and might just be the secret ingredient to their amazing service! So, when you're in the mood for a slice that'll make you say "Oh my goodness, that's epic" head straight to Local Pizza. Their pizza prowess and staff like Sophie, who deserves a pay rise, will make your taste buds do a happy dance, and you'll leave with a smile as big as a pizza slice!

Exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I tasted their pizza, I knew I had found a local gem. The flavors were absolutely mouthwatering, and the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh. What stood out was their dedication to quality. The crust was perfectly crispy, the sauce was flavorful, and the toppings were generous. It's clear that they take pride in crafting each pizza with care and attention to detail. The customer service was also exceptional. The staff was friendly and accommodating, ensuring that my dining experience was enjoyable. The delivery service was prompt, and my pizza arrived hot and ready to devour. Whether you're a local looking for your go-to pizza place or a visitor seeking a delicious meal, This is a must-try. They've certainly won me over with their delectable offerings and top-notch service. I'll be returning for more soon!

Last four visits have been disappointing. We keep trying but might need to stop. The main compaint is lack of consistency of the quality of pizza base. They stopped doing garlic pizza as a side and you can only order a normal garlic pizza which is too large. They tried adding a garlic focaccia as the side but it was never really properly cooked on the inside and just called through and they have taken that away too. Previous review: Superb gourmet pizza. The Local produces minimalistic style pizza but in there case less is definitely more! The pizza bases are thin and stretchy and delicious in their own right! If you are after a dirty greasy pizza the local isn't so much for you in my opinion. But don't get me wrong - the local is the best pizza joint in Tasmania (eat-in or take away) My recommendation is the BBQ Bird which is a BBQ chicken pizza with jalapenos! On Friday and Saturday they also have gourmet donuts which are to die for...!

Been here with a large group, we like to sit outside, can be a bit windy at times, don't think we ever made a reservation. Pizzas are massive and only come in one size (good thing in my books). The wait after making an order is surprisingly short considering how much is put onto these pizzas. One of the guys gets his pizza vegan and although it's not strictly on the menu they accommodate, I think I once they left the cheddar cheese on, and after he pointed that out he got a whole new pizza within 5 minutes. Only downside is the pizzas tend to get a bit sodden by the cheese, and the base can fall apart depending on the type of pizza.

3.5 stars Whilst the pizza is rather nice. The dining experience lacks in quality and staff could do better. The venue features a public toilet that can be accessed via a key on a random hook in the dining room. At the side of the building you unlock the door to get access to the rear of the kitchen alongside the toilet stall (if you could call it that). There is no access for the disabled and the use of a key is not exactly Covid safe. Check in Tas app QR code is found at the front however is difficult to find. Drinks are $4.50 for a soda and 12 dollars for a Tasmanian beer. Food is pricey as well. Food has thin base but is not bad

Amazing woodfired pizza that lives up to the hype. Dined at around 6pm on a Saturday eve, so naturally there was a bit of a buzz. The staff were helpful and friendly which was great. We chose to share three pizzas, the best being the Notorious P.I.G. The pizzas were cooked fast, were super tasty and were the perfect mix of just enough topping without being overloaded or bare. The drinks menu is fantastic, including some great import craft beers. All in all, a very enjoyable casual dining experience with some top notch pizza. Will definitely be back!

This is by far the best pizza I've ever eaten... Huge call. It was so good that we visited 3 times during our two week stay in Hobart haha... It's the perfect place to eat after visiting MONA as its close. Lots of delicious vegan options and the menu is seasonal which keeps it exciting. I loved the vegan cashew sauce on top... Not usually a fan of vegan "cheeses" but this was more like a creamy / zesty dressing and wasn't really cheesey tasting. They've always got a wine, beer and pizza special on the board too. Can't wait to go back!

The layout is fairly laid back and quite pleasant. Sitting outside, you get a partial view of the Derwent River and when there is a breeze, can be cooling on a hot day. The pizzas and cheese bread were divine, you really get to smell and taste the woodfire, and the flavour pleasantly surprising. It is the best pizza I've tasted in a long time and the price quite reasonable. Talk about 'do not judge the book by its cover', this place really is worth a try. I know I'll be back again

Horrible pizza. I came here two years ago and didn’t really rate it. Came back and tried to give it a second chance. Went in two nights ago. You’ll have to dig deep, it’s expensive. Crust wasn’t cooked right. Burnt on the edges and raw inside. I stopped at one slice. Toppings were soggy and you could see the oil floating on the top of the pizza. We ordered the Notorious P.I.G. I didn’t think it was right, the combination was very sweet. There are so many better pizza options in town.

  • Dhruv Chawla

Tried this place after multiple recommendations and certainly, they do make one of the best pizza’s in Hobart. They have multiple vegetarian and vegan options and most of the pizzas can be customized. Local only makes 14” pizzas and their location is quite laid back with a chill vibe. If dining in, there is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and a great craft beer selection. Overall, I would say Smolt in Hobart makes the best pizzas but Local is a close second.

  • David George

Paid $29 for a Supreme style pizza, the crust was ok on the rim, taste was ok, but was soggy in the middle. They also announced to me at pickup that they do not accept cash which is actually illegal as Australian reserve bank notes are legal tender for settling all debts. Following protest I received no accommodation. In summary, I would not return.

Best Pizza in Hobart, there is a reason that this place is bustling any time you visit even though it is a good 20 min drive out of the centre of Hobart (a big distance to Tasmanians). I would highly recommend making the trip out if you are ever in town as they serve a fantastic traditional styled Pizza with a good range of toppings. The wine menu is small but has amazing wines on it that won't leave you disappointed as they are perfectly paired to the food.

  • Josh Smith

Got the Colonel pizza, prosciutto croquettes and the Oreo cheesecake sundae which were all stunning. A little on the pricey side but amazing flavours, would definitely recommend!

The restaurant is okay. The pizza.. Well, I've had better, but I've been a number of times just the same. Just don't try and park there. There is nowhere to park and you'll get abused by over-privileged white women in Mercedes' who can't use indicators and who think it is perfectly okay for -them- to park illegally in a spot over a residential drive, but that you, shock horror, should not park in a legal spot.

  • Courtney Brook

Local Pizza is so satisfying! The Toasty and the Wild Child were so full of flavour, I ate way more than is necessary because I didn’t want to stop enjoying the amazing flavour combinations, even the crust was soooo good! Friendly service from the locals and a fun atmosphere made this a great spot to eat out. Excellent wine list too! If I didn’t live interstate I would be a regular here.

Going out to Claremont for the best pizza in the state. Local pizza is amazing. High quality pizza, great drinks and awesome desserts. This is my favourite place to get a slice in the Hobart region. My vegan friends aren't left out either as their vegan pizza's are next level good. Staff are great and reccomend their faves. Menu and specials are awesome and fairly priced.

  • Mark Rickards

We love the pizza here, either eat in or take away. A minimalist traditional style for sure, but with very high quality ingredients. Great range of pizzas for everyone, and the staff are always helpful and friendly. Highly recommended.

Unique topping combos, tasty thin bases and a great range of local crafts beers (+ others). It's an oasis in suburbia, and delightful to come across. There's also friendly, professional staff and a super cool rotating pizza oven. It does get very noisy inside though, and can be hard to have a conversation which dulls the atmosphere a bit.

  • Jonny Scholes

Best pizza in greater Hobart. Grab a couple of pizzas, knock down one of their great selection of beers whilst you wait then walk the the pizzas down the road to MONA and watch the sunset. Can't get much better than that! Their indoor/outdoor seating is also excellent. But then again MONA has ducks for your leftovers...

  • Tema Milstein

LOVE this place. Cannot say enough good about it. Great for kids, too, with markers for coloring and plenty of sound. Extremely delicious thin-crust artisan pizza and lots of vegetarian (and vegan) choice. By far the best pizza we have had in Australia or New Zealand. Plus great gelato. Funny and stylish design.

Great pizza overall but they can range in quality. Recently got their special and it had half the ingredients on the pizza than shown in the social media photo and the chicken tasted like it was a supermarket BBQ chicken. It's been hit and miss. Great when it's delivered well, terrible when when they don't.

  • Jarrod Cooley

Open seating area with no reservations but it's worth it, the food is delicious and reasonably priced. They have a good drinks menu with a lot of craft beer options. They have aweekly special as well as vegan and vegetarian options. Any of their pizzas are avaliable as take away and you can order online

  • Scot Landy

Dave Portnoy would probably give this a 4.8/10. Good undercarriage, nice crust, but flop city, way too much sauce, and the middle of the pizza had undercooked dough. If you're used to dominos, it's very good.

Ordered the Wild Child like the crazy kids we are last night. The flavour combos were splendid! Their pizza bases taste like naan bread *drools*. Good atmosphere and interesting decor. My only criticism would be the centre of the pizza was soggy, and perhaps not cooked through.

  • David Harrington-George

Great pizza. Don't come here if you're looking for any classic range of pizzas, the options here are usually pretty limited, hipster-ish and wacky, but they're good quality and the bases are fresh and tasty. Good place to sit down with a few mates.

  • Mark Falcon

By far one of the best pizzas in Tasmania. The pepperoni pizza was just incredible. Thin wood fired crust, tastey mozarella cheese and balanced tomato base. Eating this with a glass of craft beer just hit the spot after long and active day.

  • Eilidh Graham

Best pizza in Hobart! Nice and handy on the bike track too if you fancy riding along for dinner. Outside and inside dining, so you can even walk your furry friend there. Last time we sat outside someone had brought their cat …

Amazing trendy pizza shop. Very busy, get in before the rush, not too cheap, but creative quality. They could use a name on the store, just for the tourists, I could paint it myself with different colours, it could say just L O C A L.

  • Macca Green

Hands down the best place to have an eat-in pizza! Unfortunately, if you do takeaway/delivery, the pizza doesn't stand up by the time it makes it home, which is so very unfortunate! Highly recommend making the effort to visit though.

  • Tom Koorts

Fantastic wood fired pizza. Great outdoor seating for afternoon meals and drinks, lovely indoor seating. A uniue revolving pizza oven with exotic menu options. Favourite is margherita. Well worth the trip for excellent quality pie!

Woodfired oven and gourmet toppings, the pizza served here has to be some of the best. We had the pepperoni and the brisket pizzas both were amazing.
