Overall fairly shambolic experience. After reading poor reviews and having an overnight stay required I requested a room with a window on multiple occasions prior to my stay. My appointment time was 3pm and I was asked to fast from 10am. I arrived at the hospital and was informed my room was not ready. I was taken to a temporary room and asked to wait until roughly 4pm when I was moved into a horrible room with no window. It could have been 4pm or 4am. I was then told my surgery was not until 7pm, after asking multiple times why I was in the hospital 4 hours early and fasting from 10am no medical staff could give me a clinical reason and blamed it on scheduling. This is absurd and was a complete waste of my time. I was then given my menu to select my evening meal (to be eaten at 9pm after fasting since 10am) and was given the day time sandwich menu. I insisted this was inappropriate and I'd like to see the evening menu. The catering staff then proceeded to lie to mean say I would struggle to eat hot food after general anaesthetic. After some back and forth they then told me it was because my surgery was late, I'd not be able to have hot food. They finally agreed to give me a hot meal. I'd been fasting since 10am and at the hospital since 3pm, the catering times of the kitchen are not my problem nor is the operation schedule. I complained about this at the time. I then had an overfamiliar male nurse who insisted I wore the surgical knickers, another nurse confirmed this was not required as it was ankle surgery. Th over familiar male nurse then repeatedly entered my room without knocking after asking me to change. In order to allow patients to have a dignified experience I'd expert everyone to know when surgical underwear is required and knocking before entering is a basic curtesy. I complained about this at the time. I don't think they had malice intent, just could be more professional with patients. I finally saw my surgeon at 6pm, after waiting for three hours. The arrival time and fasting window I were given were absurd and not needed. My surgeon was also unsure why I was there from 3pm. I was eventually moved to a room with a window around 6pm. My surgery went well and the majority of the staff were pleasant. However for a private hospital I had to frequently complain about the service or behaviour of staff to have a half decent experience. Thankfully I could advocate for myself but overall it felt unprofessional and I'm shocked multiple staff either did not understand procedures or lied to me to about protocol. I'd not rush back.

I'd like to leave a positive review but I'm struggling to remember any. The room was ok but major building work going on outside which started very early and view of brick wall didn't help. It was clean though. Staff member who greeted me was polite and friendly but I was left alone for most of time and had no idea when my operation would go ahead. I had requested an early slot as fasting since night before and told to check in 9.15. I get massive migraine when going without food for a few hours. As it turned out I was taken down at 4.30! I also asked to speak to the anaesthetist as I have serious spine issues and was due to have spinal block and was told I'd have plenty of time to talk to him. I didn't. He rushed in barely glanced at report I gave him about my disc issues and subsequently when they finally tried to administer the anaesthetic he couldn't get the needle in my spine. It was painful and very stressful as I could tell he wasn't happy. Then without warning I had a gas mask clamped over my mouth and told I'd be having a general . I was coughing and the smell was awful and I was terrified. When I came round I was shaking violently and asked the nurse to help me . She said don't worry it's normal. It lasted 45 minutes. It was a horrible experience and had I time with anaesthetist I could have told him I have bad reaction to some anaesthetics. I was left in my room in the dark for long periods. I couldn't eat or drink and felt wretched. I had 2 young male nurses who were nice....hence the 3 stars but I'm of an age when a female nurse would have been appreciated. Getting to the toilet on a zimmer with an open back gown on is not easy and I was glad of their help but another female would have been a bit more understanding maybe. I couldn't eat the food and the tea which I lived on was so weak like water to be honest. I was glad to be leaving after the 2nd night. Overall I felt abandoned when I was at a very low ebb and the staff very slow to respond to the call button so I stopped using it. I've had better experience in an NHS hospital overall and was very disappointed. My surgeon was excellent and so were his personal team. My only regret is he only works out of this hospital so I don't know if I will return for the further treatment I need. I certainly won't use his anaesthetist again.

I have been here multiple times for surgery (an unfortunate recurring condition) and have had wildly different experiences each time. I have given four stars as overall it's been positive, most staff have been friendly and caring, and the rooms are very nice indeed. However I've also had negative experiences in the past, for example I woke up in the night in pain - this was my first night recovering from surgery - but when I simply asked the nurse on duty for another dose of painkillers she just laughed and said "you're playing me" before walking out. If my head was more together I would have asked for her full name but sadly as this was the middle of the night after just having surgery and in severe pain I didn't think to do that, in fact I was almost frozen and stunned a nurse would act like that. On another occasion I'd already given them a list of my medications multiple times, notably one of them has a severe interaction with tramadol: grand mal seizures. But what did they try to give me via IV, without even telling me? You guessed it, tramadol. Luckily I asked what it was before they jabbed it into my arm and warned them of the interaction, at which point the nurse went to speak to a doctor and brought me an alternative painkiller. On following visits I made sure to explicitly tell them I could not take tramadol and they were very accomodating after giving me a red band, but most patients wouldn't be aware of every interaction their meds could cause and shouldn't have to self-advocate just to avoid a grand mal seizure. We trust medical professionals to know these things already. After that little rant though it's only fair I circle back and say the majority of my experiences and interactions with staff were very positive, and with those rooms and that view it's certainly far nicer than staying in an NHS hospital that's for sure.

While the medical staff and medical treatment were very good overall, the room facilities leave a lot to be desired. The room I got was not representative of what you see in the marketing publications, internet site, or glossy brochures. It was a room with no natural light at all, it had a window that backed onto the core of the building as shown in the photo and was overall pretty grim. When I asked to be moved to another room I was advised that "this is the room you've got so there you go". The porter, who was actually training another person accompanying us at the time, then left me in the room to get ready for my surgery. It was only when I left to the room on my way back down to reception did I get someone to listen to me. I was moved round the corner to another room which was much the same (no window, no natural light) but as I was a day case I just decided to get it over with. A surgical visit should be as stress-free as possible and this was far from that. If a room can't offer daylight or natural light, it should not be offered as a patient room for a surgical stay. Overall, not recommended at all and management should consider the suitability of some of the rooms that fall well below what one would expect from a organisation "at the forefront of world-class private healthcare."

A big thank you to everyone involved in my care at the London Bridge Hospital. Cannot recommend the hospital enough! Mr. Ember and Tessa are always easy to talk to. Despite his busy schedule, I never felt that Mr. Ember was rushing in our appointments. So very patient in explaining every thing which made me feel 100% confident in him. The nurses were brilliant! RGN Bambhi (Abhi) Q. went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable during my admission. She has already finished her night shift when I arrived but she still went to my room, answered all my questions and made feel comfortable. She also made sure to check on me after discharge. RGN CJ looked after me, her bright personality is truly refreshing but stayed professional the whole time. She made sure I was well looked after before during and after my procedure. Additionally, RGNs Dana and Gladys, were also exceptionally kind and knowledgeable. The food was impressive! Catering staff were always so polite. Was kinda bummed that coffee was instant coffee(not a big deal tho). Overall, I am extremely grateful to the whole London Bridge team!

Facilities are new and the nurse was friendly. However, Dr Garcia Reitboeck did not help with my issues and diagnosed me incorrectly, and this leads to a couple of unnecessary tests which are very expensive. I am suffering from dizziness and headaches for months which were due to neck cervical problems. However, the doctor failed to see the link between my neck and dizziness, even after mentioning all issues around my neck. I even mentioned physios/massages around the area have been helping and I never had any balance/hearing issue since the start of the symptoms. But no use! Instead, I was sent to an ENT specialist. The initial ENT tests have shown everything was fine (confirmed by the specialist himself). Later I have been told ‘just to be sure’, I need to do all these other tests including hearing and balance (which cost hundreds of pounds). Later, I took a holiday back home, at where the CT scan has shown my neck bone has begun to get straight, causing the headaches/dizziness - clearly a neck-related problem.

After many months of pain and X-rays, I realised I would need to have the dreaded hip replacement. Luckily I Googled "best hip surgeon, London" and that is exactly who I found! Mr Apthorp and his team were quite amazing. I really did not believe I would be walking and climbing stairs the day after the op, let alone walking out of hospital the next day without using crutches! All the nurses, physio, and rest of the team were really professional, kind and attentive and I felt in the best hands all the way through the dreaded operation. I was able to meet my grandkids for a Chinese 3 days later (no crutches) and the 5th day strolled down the stairs totally forgetting the "Good foot to Heaven bad one to Hell" mantra. I would recommend the London Bridge Hospital, Mr Athorpe and his team 100% and rejoice that I made the decision.

  • Marieke Reddingius Rattray

Had my second hip replacement surgery by Mr Apthorp , top expert consultant and had full faith in his healing hands. He only works at this hospital now and while quite far from home for me, I was extremely pleased with the care I was given. The nursing staff were very kind, responsive and professional, everyone was in fact -from the porters to the physio. The food was amazing, the choice great - 4 page a la carte menu- more hotel food than hospital food. Couldn’t help but take pictures of every meal. Temple spa toiletries in the bathroom were a nice touch too. Compared to some pictures of rooms I think I didn’t have their best room (small corner room) but perfectly adequate for its purpose.

Have been going to HCA hospitals for a while now and have always had great experiences with their clinicians. Most recently needed surgery and was extremely positively impressed with London Bridge Hospital’s staff and facilities. My experience - which was painful as most surgeries can be - was as great as it could’ve been, given the circumstances with nurses being extremely attentive, caring and helpful. My doctor, Mr Carapeti, is a GENIUS and compared to what other people have told me, as well as Mr Carapeti himself when stating that the post-surgery recovery could be painful, I felt close to no pain. I’m overall extremely impressed and happy with my experience at LBH.

From the moment I arrived at London Bridge Hospital the experience was exceptional. I didn't feel as if I arrived at a hospital, it was more like I entered and checked into a 5 star hotel. There was a hostess responsible to escort me to my room, that was a new experience for me. The hospital was very clean, spotless. All staff were exceptional and provided excellent service. They appeared to love what they were doing and did it with pride. They ensured that I was knowledgeable and comfortable with the process for the procedure. Kudos to Dr. Fidler and Team, Nurse Tanya and Team for 1st class service provided.

  • Sam

Outstanding facility, smooth check-in process. The nursing team were incredible - so friendly, welcoming and helped me massively. Food great, everyone you met would go above and beyond to help. I was so nervous on arrival, but the staff completely changed that. My consultant was also brilliant and played a huge part in the process and took the time to check-in after the surgery. This centre is really leading the way in private healthcare.

  • Edwina Smith

This hospital goes above and beyond looking after their patients! From the doctors/Consultants nurses/staff they are all helpful kind and great at their jobs but especially Augustine who is working outside the two main entrances. He is so kind and helpful dealing in such a calm manner directing all the cars/lorries/taxis that is a full time job in itself. Yet he is always smiling calm friendly and a it’s always a pleasure to see him!

  • Bella Barnett

Excellent experience at London Bridge. Excellent Journey from beginning to end. From the reception team to the porters team, from the nurses in day surgery 4th floor, to the nurses in endoscopy and the consultant/operator. Outstanding team where dignity, empathy, privacy, respect and understanding is at very foundation of their practice. I Would recommend London bridge to any one for a very 5 star service experience

  • poon S.A.P.

I went in on 2 Dec 2023 at around 18:30pm because i have very high fever i was in a lot of comfort and pain. I met this very hostile oversized lady with very short blonde hair. I didn't know that the hospital does not offer walk-in urgent care service but she was so unwelcoming and hostile. She has no compassion what so ever and I believe she shouldn’t be working with sick patients if she can not be compassionate.

  • Jo Dicasa

I’ve got a lot of history at the London Bridge hospital. I had a major operation 5 years ago , which changed my life. Unfortunately my surgeon passed away, which broke my heart, I then have to have another operation on my spine. I was very nervous about finding the right surgeon, but, I found 3 amazing surgeons at London Bridge. I would always recommend London Bridge as they have always gone above and beyond.

  • Tatiana Stephens

I have had two day procedures here and my experiences were so good. The staff were so professional, carrying out safety checks and procedures very carefully. They kept me fully briefed about all aspects of my care. The porter and service staff were friendly and efficient. The food was great. The view of the shard from my room was great. Honestly it almost felt like a spa day rather than a day procedure.

  • Simon Bradley

Utterly professional, as you'd hope, but friendly and human as well. It's almost worth being ill to have an excuse to come in. Oh, and you can park a motorbike without being hassled as well :) Note for all though - if you're coming by anything other than public transport/taxi, give yourself time to work out how to get into Tooley St (you have to go to Tower Bridge and come in from that end)

  • S S

I had an overnight stay and the staff were lovely- very helpful. I did have to remind about things and ask more than once, but their kindness and willingness to make your stay as comfortable as possible made up for it. The food (once I was allowed it!) was very good - restaurant quality, and nice touches like the bathroom toiletries and porter who shows you your room.

  • Oana Popovici

Waited for a consultant that was running significantly behind was only told when I enquired . The nurse were loudly discussing smear tests results just two feet away from patients waiting to be seen by different departments. I was invoiced as well but I informed the secretary I left and didn’t have the appointment . Would not go back

  • Mar. Ko

I was very happy with the service provided. I find this to be a very good hospital for gastrointestinal operations. I was also given a very nice room covered by private medical insurance. Very friendly and caring staff, a fantastic view, great medical service, very clean and good amenities. I give it a 8.7/10 and would recommend.

  • Madeleine García Munzer

I was a day patient for a knee surgery. The hospital staff is absolutely fantastic and friendly, they are always there to help you and to answer questions. The food was good beside I was not able to eat it all (i had anesthetic side effects) and the facilities were immaculate! Thanks for making it such as smooth process.

  • Stephanie McDonald

Very professional staff who explain the procedure in detail and give all the necessary forms of who to contact for any follow up queries or concerns. Constantly checking if you are OK and making sure there was somebody there to collect you after the procedure. Lovely hospital food, before being discharged.

  • Jeff Clark

Overall, the experience was very good. A few minor points of note that I have fed back, the biggest was that I felt the discharge process felt a little rushed and rather opposite to the welcoming procedure. Thus 4, and not 5 stars. All the staff were friendly and professional and overall I would recommend.

  • Sue Gluck

My experience at the London Bridge Hospital was a totally positive one. The operation I had went smoothly, the aftercare was efficient and caring. I felt at ease from the beginning, totally in safe hands and confident to ask for any help. The view of the River Thames was an added bonus. Thank you all.

  • Guilherme

I had a medical procedure here and the treatment was superb. Everyone was super polite, things went smoothly, and they made sure I was doing well at all times. The room was amazing, and I could choose the food I was having after the procedure from a menu. The best hospital food I had ever for sure.

  • Sarah W

Had my first ever procedure here under general anesthetic and from the moment I walked in the door until I left the next day every member of staff I encountered were helpful, lovely and understanding. From Porters to Surgeons everyone spoke in a calm reassuring voice. The food was good too

  • Suresh Sinniah

Overall, an excellent experience. The nurses, medical assistants and consultant were all very friendly, competent, efficient and knowledgeable. They were also very reassuring throughout my stay (as a day case rather than needing to stay overnight) and overall, I was very impressed with them!

  • Leticia Ferreira

I had a Rehumatology appt with doctor Sana. He completely dismissed my symptoms, physically examination everything look normal and fine. Miss diagnosed me with fibromyalgia without any testing. Month later I got even worse and being given the diagnosed that he said for sure wasn't my issue.

  • Les Reed

The attention I received from reception to the consultant was first class. Timing was excellent and the whole experience was efficient and comfortable. This was reassuring as I was a little concerned about my investigations. I cannot praise the hospital highly enough on this occasion.

  • Tsem Bob

I have never written a review before, but I’ve just had the most awful calls with one of their members of staff who blamed me for their colleagues’ mistakes. Terrible customer service. I’ve never had someone so rude and defensive and it affected me personally. Do better.

  • Jenny Lynn Sharps

I had a day surgery yesterday and was impressed with everything from start to finish, especially the doctors and nurses. I don’t have much basis for comparison and it’s my first time in hospital, but I’d be happy if all of my future hospital stays were like this.

  • Francis Idehen

This is the second time I am dealing with the London Bridge Hospital. The first experience, a few years ago, was excellent, which is why I chose them again for my treatment. Again, I feel that I am in excellent hands. I would highly recommend this hospital.

  • KayP

A clean, efficient and well run hospital. Happy staff, good food and amazing views of London. I'm not a fan of hospitals but my time here was the best it could have been. A few minutes walk from London Bridge station (opposite side of Guys hospital exit)

  • Claire

I had a procedure done there, this type of procedure always has been my worst fear but the staff made me feel much more relax, the premises is super neat and luxurious for a hospital and the doctor was super clear and understanding. Would recommend 100%.

  • Alhaji Kabba

My overall experience was outstanding. There was great care, comfort, and professionalism from the nurses, doctors, porters, and any staff I dealt with. I felt at ease from admission to discharge due to the friendly and welcoming nature of all the staff.

  • Mahmood Abualhasan

From my entry into the hospital, they had good reception and hospitality until I left, you did not feel like you were in the hospital, and the treatment of nurses and nurses was very ethical and respectful. I also thank the hospital administration.

  • Anneta Moraki

I was there for a scheduled surgery on both of my feet. Nurses and staff were very accommodating and always friendly and kind with lots of professionalism. Everyday there was a choice of menu for me and the catering team had a very good service.

  • Dorota Palubiak

Attended on couple occasions for a cardiac tests. Always pleasant, informative and helpful. Even when I had minor schedule conflict, they went above and beyond to find a way to work around it and adjust their own schedule a bit to make it work.

  • Stephen Curle

I believe the hospital is split into 3 separate buildings, all with the same address (and right next to each other). A bit confusing in terms of knowing where to go to first but the main reception staff of each building are available to help.

  • Clare Shepherd

I have been very impressed with the care I've had. I'll definitely return to HCA health care if, and when, I need to. As a self funder it's expensive but, at the moment, the NHS can't cope with what it needs to be coping with.

  • Tina Riddle

Complete care in a clean and hospitable environment, seen on time by a very warm pleasant and more importantly knowledgable Consultant who took time to listen act and reassure could not ask for anything better

  • T k

From start to finish, from the admin team on the phone to all the staff in the hospital my experience was flawless. Met other patients in the hospital and they also spoke highly of the treatment they received.

  • Piyamon Nontarakchaisorn

The best hospital in the UK I have ever been to. (Insurance paid). Dr Said is professional. All staff and nurses are so friendly and caring. The takeoff med is self paid but they are reasonable. 10/10

  • Karen Owen

Absolute perfect care by doctors, nurses… consultants and catering and housekeeping staff. I was looked after so well which aided my recovery and care. Would recommend this hospital . Perfect …

  • Lewis Thomas

I have had several appointments here and at the Shard outpatients, as well as one surgery and one minor procedure. The majority of my experiences have been positive and staff are always hospitable.

  • A Po

Poor outpatient registration process (why do you need to queue to have a form printed when you've already fully registered online?). But otherwise good overall. The consultant I saw was excellent.

  • Martijn Mulder

Great, excellent and professional service from the full team. I was very impressed with all interactions I had with the staff. Hospital is as well in great conditions. Well done to all.
