I have been a regular customer at this M&S branch and have generally had positive experiences, but my recent visit left me feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. It was truly disappointing to encounter such behavior from the staff members. I accidentally picked up the wrong sandwich and realised my mistake before paying. In an effort to rectify the situation, I promptly went to pick up the correct one. However, during this time, I couldn’t help but notice that the staff were closely watching my every move. This made me feel unnecessarily scrutinised and judged, which is not how a customer should be treated. To make matters worse, when I proceeded to the checkout to pay for my items, one staff member positioned themselves behind me, seemingly waiting for me to complete my transaction. This made me feel rushed and uncomfortable, as if I was being accused of something. The presence of a security guard further added to the unpleasant atmosphere. As my partner and I left the store, we couldn’t help but overhear the staff members whispering among themselves, discussing our presence and making us feel even more uneasy. This type of behavior is highly unprofessional and disrespectful, and it left a lasting negative impression on us. I am genuinely frustrated and hurt by the way we were treated during our visit. It is disheartening to experience such poor customer service, especially at a place where I have previously had positive encounters. I believe that every customer deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of the situation. I sincerely hope that the management of this M&S location takes note of this review and addresses the behavior of their staff members. It is essential to foster an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and respectful to all customers. I genuinely hope that my future visits to this branch will reflect the positive experiences I have had in the past. Please accept my feedback in the spirit of constructive criticism, with the hope that improvements will be made to enhance the overall customer experience.

Nice and clean shop and plenty stock in there for a small store. Prices are a bit higher but it is handy when getting a train home and opening times are good. 3 stars as when we went to self checkout, as nobody can serve you, we were watched like somebody who was going to steal or something the lady was right on top of us and yet there were plenty of others on the other checkouts scanning yet wanted to just stand there and watch us and it was so obvious, felt demeaning and made to feel awful. We scan all the items and are honest people, she stayed there until we finished scanning all of them and paid, then vanished into thin air once done, while the whole time watching no one else, I don’t think she would of even left to help anyone with a problem. Disgrace tbh and not happy with that. Felt like she was racist against us or something. I could understand if we were asking for help or looked like didn’t know what we were doing but that wasn’t the case. Come on M&S you are better than this.

Really unhappy with the service this morning. There is no sign on any doors saying Dogs are not allowed. I carried my small dog into the shop and got my items. I scanned half my items when a member of staff (young, tall lady with dark hair) told me I had to leave. I said please can I finish scanning my items as I have a long journey and She said no. If dogs aren’t allowed that’s fine but I passed other staff members while walking down the aisles and there is no sign telling travellers dogs are not welcome. I didn’t have time to go to another shop so I have a 3hr train journey with no snacks or water. Thanks.

After a few drinks with friends it's great to come here to get something to snack on before my train. But I honestly want to say i am quite disgusted at the security guard. He is the black guy who is about 4ft tall. He always seems to be on most days. The moment I walked In he followed me EVERYWHERE. I felt like a criminal before I even bought anything. So I simply walked out and went to WH SMITH. Well done M&S for your great customer service! You can thank your wonderful security guard And btw im not alone as I have heard the same thing from other people.

Conveniently located and stays open later than the other M&S in New Street. This was my first time shopping here and there was a strong smell of pooh at the back of the shop. Not sure where the smell was coming from but I bought what I came for and quickly left. The prices on every item are about 20-50p more than in other M&S stores. I don't plan to shop here again unless I can't find what I need in my local M&S.

Food selection is good but it's a nightmare to checkout since they got rid of the tills and put in all the awful self service machines. It takes longerr, something inevitably goes wrong and you have to wait for the one member of staff to get to you which will take ages because they've got three people waiting for assistance at any one time. Don't go when it's busy, it's not worth the stress!

Waynie was super helpful and friendly at the self check out. I had 10 mins to pick up a bunch of things before my train, and she not only helped me with scanning and packing as my hands were full, but also ensured that my flower bouquets were packaged properly so I wasn’t struggling to carry a lot of things. She was a friendly face to encounter at the store that made a long day better.

I could not believe my eyes today a homeless man got stopped today at the doors for pinching two little trifles as he was about to walk out without paying so he said he'll pay by card, I saw the homeless man walk out and the store assistant walk back inside from the door with the triffles, where is people's heart. Felt like I should have offered to pay. This sight made me feel sad.

It's a nice market, you can find flowers, drinks and many products. I've visited this store many times, the products are regularly renewed and some products are regularly discounted. The train has an easy access inside the station, it is usually of medium density. It can be very busy during rush hour. I like the design of the store. I can shop from this store from time to time.

  • Sun Flower

I always pop in this store while i travel to my work or way back home .Staff is very friendly all the time ,they are always busy filling the store but whenever I approach the team they always smile and take me to the items, they have variety of products, you can buy chocolates as a gift and last minute flowers shopping too. I would definitely recommend this store for shopping

Not a big store but has a reasonable range. I only had 10 minutes between trains but managed to get in and out within 4 minutes. This was at 18:25 on a Friday. Unfortunately due to extremely hot weather some of the fridges were empty. However this could due to the lorry drivers issue. Sandwiches, snacks, crisps and bakery were well stocked.

  • Azhar Chaudri

Superb store which is well stocked with sandwiches, drinks, chocolate and other food stuffs which is particularly useful for travellers. Prices are as normal for M&S, but the high quality, varied choice and freshness of the products can never be questioned. I normally shop here at least 2-3 times a week, on the way to and back from work.

I absolutely adore Marks and Spencer. My only disappointment is when my favourite item is sold out. However it just means I can try something else. The tastes are exceptional guaranteed to tease your taste buds and even though Marks and Spencer is pricey you're getting quality items yum …

  • Chris Konopka

A good little shop but often not that tidy and staff are often just charting between each other and over customers. Is a useful store though on the way home. Has mostly chilled food and ambient products. No frozen but quite a large drinks selection too.

  • Patrick M

This is not a 'real' M&S but is a franchise run by the station, so they increase the prices significantly from the normal M&S prices. If you are going into town, save yourself being ripped off by going to the real M&S a few minutes walk away.

  • Santino PRICE

Small variety of food but great products as you are in a rush and it’s in the middle of the train station. They have a mix of ready meals and food you can buy, but however I would love to see a more bigger max and Spencer store with food

  • Andrew

Ok, it's cramped and carries a very limited range, and of course it is pricey too, but it is a rare and welcome oasis in resource-free night-time Birmingham, and the rushed, transient young staff are invariably pleasant and helpful.

  • S F

Badly designed. Very difficult to get near the sandwich fridges as so busy. Unclear labelling on meal deal offers. Biscuits and cakes in two different places and rear area between bread and alcohol cluttered with staff trollies.

  • Dylan JL

It's great because its m&s but the staff and security are extremely rude and suspicious of all customers, you can hardly breathe in that place. I like m&s food but this particular store is very odd and uncomfortable to be in

  • Jean Stowe

Really annoying now that it has gone to self service tills. I only go here when I have no other option. The chicken I used to buy isn't always in stock and neither are the biscuits. Always go to Longbridge branch now

  • Simon O'Toole

Only had 5 mins to catch next train so I was rushing, the lady noticed this straight away I was stressed and took my order whilst another lady prepared my coffee. Excellent service in and out in 2 mins.

  • Chloe Bradbury

It was a very pleasant experience, I was served by a lovely lady by the name of Ayesha, she was so helpful with recommendations and made an unreal passion fruit raspberry frappe!! Thank you

  • Diony Kolla

Quality of products is great as always but offering is quite limited. Mainly juices, sandwiches and ready meals. It would be great if they added a few other items for quick daily shopping.

  • Sarah

Went in today to the cafe it was a shambles. No clean tables a 15 min wait for a hot drink and 20+ for soup. There are also insufficient toilet facilities. For a big city i expect better.

  • M. Rose Stockford

I got a Too Good to Go order from this store, and the man who served me, Nasir, was so lovely! Fabulous customer service and the order was super generous. 10/10

Marks And Spencer. Expensive grab n go in a busy railway station. Huge Tesco, two minute walk from New Street, outside. Save your cash if you have the time.

  • Dot Smith

I don't like this store . It's way to small so at certain times you can't move in there for shoppers..It's more expensive then the bigger M &S in town .

  • i davo

Best rail station in UK. Great produce, very fresh & the most amazing staff. Wish I lived in Birmingham, just for the rail station.

  • Sam

Easy access for me, however staff seemed to think I was stealing when I was getting my purse out after bagging my items...

  • Sufyaan J

I was made very uncomfortable being followed by a security guard when I was acting no different to any other customer.

  • Michael Graham

A small well stocked Marks and Spencer food store located at the railway station. Staff are friendly and helpful.

  • Zack Young

They have removed free tissues with meal deals and now want you to pay for them. Also no longer accept cash.

  • Yu Frieder

Do NOT visit this shop as it has been closed since November 6th, 2020 due to lower customers in pandemic.

  • stuart williams

Clean and tidy if you are late and require groceries then this place is excellent for your supplies

  • Hazel Fox

NEVER EVER eat velvet cake from M&S food. It tastes bad very bad. Worst cake I ever had in my life

  • James Cooke

Very very very cold, I have to get in and see how long the line is if I want to get something.
