I have been a Macy's customer through various local name changes. This experience was NOT one of my favorites. Going through the fragrance section, I was presented with a few different scents, one of which was amazing. After trying it on my skin for a few moments, I realized its chemistry matched mine wonderfully, so I went back to the counter to make my purchase. Although the price was not out of normal range, the items they offered me were a bit more than I wanted to spend at the time. When I asked if they had something at a lower price, I was told that what I had was the lowest price for the fragrance. I made my purchase and left the store. Later that evening, I looked on the website and found numerous items in that line for a lower price. , found that the price I paid SHOULD have qualified me for a gift with my purchase, which I did not receive. The downtown Chicago Macy's will never again get my business.

Update 11-4-2023 Dont miss the Christmas decorations on the 7th floor. Absolutely beautiful Christmas trees and decor!Update: Today I signed up for a Macy's credit card and spent 6 hours here, on only 2 floors. This store has everything imaginable. Third floor women's is full of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen. And many great sales for Father's Day weekend coming up. Amazing store!! An entire city block. You will need many many trips here to fully enjoy what Macy's has to offer. Today it was pre- black Friday specials/prices. I found several items, and with a Macy's charge an extra 20 percent off. Unfortunately I don't have a Macy's credit card, but it was still a good deal!

My wife and I were visiting Chicago for our anniversary on a rainy weekend. She had forgotten to pack a hoodie, so we made our way to the Macy's nearby. I was just expecting a normal one like ours in Michigan. I was in for a shock! Coming in at 7 accessible stories, it was a behemoth. A behemoth with amazing architecture and design. It is worth a visit if nothing else to take in a department store from another era (it has all the modern amenities). My only downside was that it was being remodeled here and there, so I could not give it a 5th star without it being finished. Check it out.

I am a resident of Michigan and am currently visiting Chicago. I was close to a Macy's store, and after entering and shopping, I was surprised by the cashier's question: Do you need a bag, knowing that it is more than one piece? When I asked her for an additional bag, she asked me to pay 7 cents, and her features showed anger and the question is here for this company. Respected, should a customer who buys approximately $1,000 a month from this store pay 7 cents for a bag? I hope you get my message across and ask the employee to be more courteous.

almost an entire block of retail with gothic/ornate columns and tile ceilings, where you can find something for everyone. there is a restaurant up on the top floor and during winter holidays have pretty decorations up. lower level has their ‘rack equivalent backstage goods’, food court, bookstore, and most importantly is connected to the pedway which is great during the storms/bad weather. visitors should check this place out and try not to get lost!

Just gorgeous. The holiday displays were so over the top cute. We had a booze hot chocolate too and that was just perfect. It’s what you would expect from a flagship store. The large tree at the top was fantastic. The woman at the door stopping people from trying to get pictures and telling them to move was not so fantastic. How can you have a tree like that and not expect people to want pictures? At least have a designated spot. ‍♀️

Well, well, well it's Macy's aka Marshall Fields! They really don't even need no review the name speaks for itself. But it has always and will continue to be my favorite place to shop. It looks extra pretty around Christmas time. Anything you want Macy's has it.....I had to go and make this furniture set mines. They gave good deals going on during black Friday season ....and make sure you get a photo by the water fountain ⛲.

This is such a beautiful building and a real treat to visit. A lot of the historical significance has been preserved and restored thanks to Macy’s. It felt special to shop here knowing the history of the building. The store itself was pretty good, staff were helpful and available. Bit hard knowing where everything is just because of how massive the floor plan is, and some renovations were going on. Definitely worth visiting.

The retail aesthetics we're beautiful, however there a were few empty display windows on both Wabash and State Street side...to my dismay. Macys is beautiful but it does not compare to the grandeur that was once Marshall Field's & Co., my old employer back in the 80s. On a positive note, I was very pleased to see that the old Walnut Room has reopened for specialty brunches, special events and wedding packages

This Macy's is HOT as hell. Big climate control issue with AC. I will start to sweat while in the store and the heat drives me out of the store before I finish shopping. I've been here 10+ times, have a Macy's card, etc and it is always way to hot in this store and It is not just me that thinks this. I was here for Christmas shopping with my girlfriend and we were both sweating even with our coats off.

Macy's really impressed me with their women's plus size selection. It's on the 5th floor across from Toy's R Us. They have a lot of different designers. They also have Nike women's athletic wear. They had Winter coats and tons of Christmas, and new year's outfits. My new spot for clothes!

Marshall Field's is marvelous... The several times I visited the store, recently, have been relaxing and a fun experience ✨⭐not crowded; plenty of nice clothing to look at and try on... many great bargain finds as well ☘️my daughter loves the clearance racks! :) …

Was upset that they have it where you can't even catch a glimpse of Santa. You have to have reservations. Macy's is supposed to have the best Christmas decorations but there wasn't much to see. The outside decorations were neat. Also most of the escalators were not working.

  • The Slide Ride

Santa Larry was the best! He was so attentive and made my son feel so special by telling him a special story and giving a keepsake of his visit. Santaland is magical & we couldn’t have hoped for a better Santa than Santa Larry!

Some great deals on name brand clothes. Service was good and clerks were helpful, except for the Dior/Channel booths. They had a display of perfume that three people couldn't provide a price. Finally I just walked away.

I had a wardrobe malfunction whereas I needed a dress asap. The staff in Macy's was amazing. They pointed me in the right direction and checked me out very quickly. Did I mention the dress was on sale?! $50!

Overall a unique visit for experiencing such a large department store. I kinda got whiplash going from floor to floor though. Some are clean and lavish while others look quite dated!

Love the Marshall Field's history Meet me under the clock Check out the Great Clock ⏱️ two on State Street Check out the Walnut Room, and during Christmastime, the Great Tree!

  • lesley kuhl

I found everything I needed quickly and had an excellent clerk assist me. What a nice place! We also enjoyed seeing the decorated Christmas trees and The Walnut Room restaurant.

12 floors of shopping, but the top 3 floors were closed off and appeared empty when we went. Bathrooms are not easy to find even though the map tells the floors. Would go again.

  • Gabriele Vitale

Very nice and clean place, a lot of good products but.... Starting from the 6th floor there was nobody, I was completely alone.

  • william cooper

Didn't realize "Toys r Us" was still around. Here at Macy's there is one still here. I stopped by to say hi to Jeffrey!

  • John P

Santa Land is lots of fun. Windows were nice for Christmas. Neighborhood is getting a little sketchy. I will return.

  • Dianne Lehoux Smith

Largest Macy's ever. I did not see the window displays until driving away, wish I had taken more pictures of them

  • Isabella Supelano
