My recent experiences with your clinic have been deeply disheartening and profoundly disappointing. For over a week, my cat and I have endured an exasperating ordeal of securing basic healthcare, an experience filled with stress, despair, and frustration. It was agonising to feel as though my ageing cat was dismissed, neglected and left to suffer. I spent a number of tearful nights on my floor, consumed with dread that you had chosen to disregard her plight simply due to her age. Contrastingly, I was greeted with impeccable service and genuine care when I reached out to another veterinary clinic. A single call at 8 am, and my cat's appointment was set for 9.40 am, unlike the endless calls, interminable hold times of up to 40 minutes, and repeated disheartening experiences that we encountered with your clinic. Upon arrival at this new vet, I was pleased to find that they had already procured my cat's full medical history - a testament to their proactive approach and evident dedication to their patients' welfare. The contrast to the prior neglect we experienced was palpably stark. The new vet exhibited a conscientious approach to healthcare by reviewing her history in advance, conducting thorough physical examinations, and promptly performing necessary blood tests. He also provided us with immediate results in person within an n hour and initiated an effective treatment plan this morning, leaving us informed and reassured. While she does have heart issues, they are not the cause of this present wave of issues. Unlike my previous experiences with your team, this vet didn't hesitate to tackle the root cause of her distress - advancing kidney issues. He promptly administered necessary medications for her nausea and loss of appetite, resulting in immediate improvements in her overall demeanour and well-being. My cat is back to her usual self this afternoon running around like a kitten and eating. I was also deeply impressed with the meticulous follow-up plan he outlined, including an additional scan and preventive treatment against possible clotting issues for her heart. In a matter of 2 hours, my cat was treated with respect, kindness and the professional attention that she deserved. This comparison highlights the stark disparity in the quality of care my pet received at your facility, which was substantially inferior. It is truly disappointing to think of the unnecessary suffering she endured due to the negligence and inattention at your clinic. What is most shocking is that she presented with constipation and that no one thought to concurrently look at her kidneys, especially given her medical history. Yes, she had a gallop rhythm but she also was her normal, playful self the day before and had no evidence of clotting or fluid build up. Moreover, my interactions with your reception staff, particularly your new male receptionist, were fraught with rudeness and unnecessary stress. The evident lack of communication between your vets, nurses, and reception staff creates an environment that does not instil confidence in your services. While your vets, who appeared overburdened and unsupported, showed kindness, advanced knowledge, and an empathetic nature, they seemed unable to deliver their best, a situation which is disheartening to observe. Thus, with considerable regret, I have decided to shift the care of my cat elsewhere. I will not be returning to your clinic, and I find it imperative to express my deep dissatisfaction with the level of service we received. I hope my feedback can serve as a constructive critique, encouraging your clinic to reassess and improve upon its practices, particularly your internal communication and the speed at which you are able to treat your guests.

For two and a half years I paid a monthly fee of £17 to receive flea and tick treatments for my dog, and found the process of getting hold of this medication very arduous, and time consuming. The system was Medivet emails you to say the 'treatment is due'. They do not order the medication, and instead wait for you to respond, only then do they actually order the medication, and then you still do not get it right away. Instead you have to wait another week, and then you will receive another email, saying you can finally collect. I did this every three months, for 2 years – when the same treatments can be purchased from Amazon, who deliver, at a fraction of the cost. I told a member of Medivet this (several) email exchange, and needless wait, was rather inconvenient, and he responded “I don’t have time for this call”, and hung up on me. A month or so later, faced with the same frustration, I called Medivet and confirmed I want to pick up all the medication they owed me from previous paid months, and subsequently cancelled my membership. I arrived at the vet to collect what they owed, and they had one box of flea / tick treatment (when I was owed several months), and worse, they tried to bill me £60! What followed was over an hour (!) of trying to explain the situation to various members of staff, many of who had a poor attitude, others refused to see me at all, and none of them listened to what I was saying, or cared for the correspondence with Medivet I was showing them. I left without anything. I later received an email saying they would send me the one box as ‘a gesture of good will’. They insisted I cancelled my contract before making the request, meaning it was invalid – but this was not true, it is a story they fabricated, to save them giving me the full treatment I have paid for. I am not asking for any ‘good will’, I am simply asking for my vets to give me what I have already paid for, to operate as an ethical and honest business, and most important, to not unjustly withhold medication from my dog. They have failed to do this. Avoid at all costs. Unprofessional, unethical and dishonest.

Unfortunately, this surgery has gone downhill really sharply since being taken over by Medivet. The vets and support staff are still incredibly helpful and professional but they now seem to be increasingly overworked. When you go into the vets, it's nearly always really chaotic. Everyone is doing a million things at once. You usually have to wait a long time to speak to someone at reception. It's not unusual for appointments to run upwards of 30 minutes late. It's very hard to get through to anyone on the phone. It can now take weeks for them to send off insurance claims, whereas it used to take a day or two in the past. Prices also seem to have gone up sharply. They charge over 2x more for my pet's medication than Viovet or other pharmacies. This seems to be true for medication across the board. Most troublingly, the quality of care has gone down. Vets are always working flat-out, seem to have zero time to prepare and, despite their best efforts, sometimes fail to follow-up. I'm sure this is very difficult for the vets and staff involved, as they are great at their jobs and care about the animals they treat. They seem to be working harder than ever in increasingly difficult circumstances for worse results. On the other hand, I read that Medivet's profits went up 20% to £130 million last year, so I guess the owner's business model is working for them.

Do not take your cats to this clinic. We suddenly lost our beautiful angel to undiagnosed heart enlargement in a very traumatic and painful way. The vet at the emergency clinic was shocked how our baby never got diagnosed with a heart problem before. We recalled his vet trips to Medivet New Cross where we'd ask for advice regarding our cat's weird choking/coughing fit video and they said (the vet Natalia) to keep an eye him. We took him there several other times for vaccination and his eye check but a heart problem was never detected. If it was diagnosed earlier, our baby could have been alive, on medication, receiving treatment and we'd be more aware of the possibility of an emergency happening. I would do anything to make him better, if only I'd known about his little heart. He did not have to suffer, go undiagnosed for so long until he couldn't. The day I lost my baby I called this vet, giving the name of our cat and explaining everything, and we did not even receive a call back from the vet Natalia or someone else. We are incredibly heart-broken and haunted by the last moments of our baby. He deserved better like all other innocent beings. His condition could have been under control if diagnosed.

If you care about your pet, steer clear. The worst experience possible. No one here will answer any questions you have, they will just to pass you off to corporate Medivet - even though they are medivet?! Should anything go wrong here, you will be endlessly passed through phone numbers, emails, etc etc, to no avail, to be left feeling a complete mug. Any issues you encounter with Medivet is certainly not a priority to anyone at Medivet: you are merely a nuisance. This made was made clear to me. This place is a complete and utter scam. As the cherry on top, the receptionist was also rude, outright difficult and unwilling to help. It should not be this hard to get a vet to care properly for your animal, and I felt the duty of care has seriously been overlooked. And for the love of god do not sign up for the medication plan because it is the biggest waste of time I have ever had to endure. Go to Amazon and get your flea and tick medicine, you’ll save money and your sanity. Otherwise, expect no less than five email exchanges before you can pick up the medication you have ALREADY PAID FOR. Even then - good luck getting it! I feel a right clown for ever giving these people my money.

As the first time owner of two cats, the team here have been wonderful. Kate has been our primary surgeon who sorted Otto and Goose with their vaccinations and neutering when I first brought them home, as well as their recent annual check up. She is calm and gentle with them both, which means their trip to the vet is not a stressful ordeal at all. Plus has given me a lot of valuable advice on how to keep them healthy and strong. Recently I had to bring in Goose for an emergency appointment. He was wobbling and sleepy and I feared the worse. The surgery got me an appointment within 20 mins of me calling. I waited not long before John saw to us, giving Goose a thorough check over. John was equally concerned and suggested we kept him overnight. Despite being the late hour, John updated me throughout the evening and into the small hours of the morning as he checked on Goose's progress. My hero! Thankfully Goose is fit and well, thanks to John's decisions and actions and Kerry's support. When a beloved pet is in need of help, this is the team you want to trust. Highly recommend. thank you!

Treatment at the vet was great, thorough professional and caring however when you get home and try to telephone the Brockley Medivet you cannot get through. Having been in the waiting room, I personally witnessed the ringing telephone as it was being ignored. The receptionist was busy beyond belief and was without a colleague to support her whilst she was dealing with incoming appointments, people coming in to collect prescriptions and food and she also had to take payments. In order to provide a reasonable service, Medivet need two people behind the desk as, presently, answering the phone is not a priority. I do not have insurance and paid a hefty bill to have my pet seen and to then not be able to get through on the multiple occasions I rang is just unacceptable especially when the solution would be to employ a second receptionist to support the existing receptionist who is clearly struggling if she is unable to respond to the telephone!! I came in on three occasions and on each occasion I witnessed the telephone ringing out being unanswered because the receptionist was so busy.

Medivet New Cross is a massive money grabbing scam!!!! I moved house recently to New Cross so I had to change vets to Medivet on Shardeloes road. The whole experience every time I have had to go has been terrible. The vets i that I was using before was always around £45-£80 for my dogs ear problem. At Medivet New Cross the 3 times I have been I have left feeling like I have been taken advantage of and always have to spend around £200-£380 which is ridiculous! On each occasion the vet has done something sneaky which I had never asked for. I booked my dog in for her monthly injection which costs £120 and that was all I asked for. The vet started taking swabs from my dog and doing loads of random tests I was confused about! This came to £380. I was shocked and did not have the money on me at the time that was very embarrassing. I had to call several people on the spot to lend me money for this as I only had the £120 I was supposed to pay. I have never left a bad review in my life but I just want to warn people about how bad Medivet new-cross is to their customers. Please be weary!

I called Medivet New Cross this morning in a complete panic because my dog had ingested poison. I firstly had to listen to a long recorded message telling me to call back if it was an emergency. When I did (during normal opening hours) the lady who answered the phone immediately asked me to 'hold for a couple of minutes'. I said I ideally didn't want to hold as it was an emergency (i.e., the only situation in which someone would be calling having listened to the recorded message) and she said 'it will only be for a couple of minutes, I need to type something into the computer'. I think that response is absolutely outrageous. She had no idea what the emergency was and still thought it was appropriate to do a random administrative task that clearly could've waited until she had further details about the issue, when I was clearly upset and very stressed. I ended up calling The Neighbourhood Vet, who were far more kind, responsive and compassionate. We'll be going directly there for all our future pet care.

It was the worst experience I have had so far with vet booking appointments. I called the vet today around 1pm and got appointment today at 5:30. I explained in the phone that dog has not eaten for a day and today either and her is stomach making noises. My partner went there with the sick dog and turned away saying that we don't have appointments!!! I received a text message and because I was at work I could not call immediately. He couldn't see a vet they didn't even offered and got a new appointment for tomorrow. When I got informed about around 6 pm I called the vet immediately. The reception put the phone down on me at first, when I called back and she picked up the phone she knew it was me and apologized for the booking and said they offered my partner to stay and wait if it's urgent. But they didn't!!! It's a lie, she also said I can go to the pet hospital if it's that urgent!!!! What kind of service is that!!!!?? Seriously

  • Jodie Ann Taylor

I have been trying to get through via email, the messaging service and on the phone for over a month and no one is responding to emails or answering the phone. Sometimes the lines are closed when they are definitely open. My cat is over due her boosters and can’t go outside until she gets them. I don’t know what else I can do except change vets if they don’t respond to calls or emails. I’ve made one last ditch attempt to get through by contacting the complaints department at medivet - maybe then I can book her in instead of direct with the practice. They could really do with an online booking system because all these calls and emails have been a waste of time. It’s a shame because the vets are fantastic and the service in the past has always been great - I feel really disappointed and frustrated!

  • Kim Barker

The care offered by Medivet New Cross has been exceptional for my bunny. From the beginning they offered thorough care and solid knowledge (not always easy to find for bunnies who are still regarded ‘exotic pets’). Although a bit of a sad ending, they picked up on signs of cancer early so I could get her referred to a specialist hospital for a scan. They have managed her end of life period well and when it came to the end, they were deeply empathetic and supportive in helping me judge when the time was right. Really thoughtful details like suggesting you deal with payment another day, having electric candles on so other people can be sensitive that you are losing someone that day, and making sure that I had ample space and time to do it the way that felt best for me. A big thank you from me.

  • Opeyemi Akinleye

It was our first visit with our kitten, the reception was fabulous, from the receptionist who welcome and prepared us for what to expect during our visit, she answered all our question being the first pet that we ever have, she motivate and empowered about the care and what we need to ensure the health and well being of our kitten. The Doctor was equally nice and friendly, she reassure and encouraged us, check our kitten and commend us about the best we are doing for our pet, she recommended and advice us about care and well being. The general first experience at the Vet was amazing and i will recommend it to anyone. Thank you all. Keep up the good work, nice, neat and friendly place to be.

  • Evie

This vet saw us coming. Dog had pyometra and initially charged me £3000 for an emergency spay. When I said I did have insurance but couldn’t pay that up front, miraculously things like ‘6 injections’, an ‘extra X Ray,’ ‘one day less overnight stay’ were removed from the bill. I left and took her to an independent vets the same day and they charged me £200 for the spay and allowed me to make a claim immediately. Overall I paid £90. If I was a vulnerable person, I would have £3000 short. Not to mention they are located in an area where most residents can’t afford that. If your pet goes here please be careful about charging.

  • Eva Aldea

Been taking my dogs here for 8 years now and I have always had the best care and service. Yes, at time you may have to wait a little for your appointment, but that's because John and his staff always take the time you and your pet needs in consult, discussing and explaining treatment. Vanessa Low has been treating my old greyhound for spinal arthritis and other geriatric symptoms for the last year, including regular acupuncture sessions - her expertise and care has definitely helped to keep him comfortable and happy and still with us at nearly 12 years old. Thanks to everyone at JH!

  • Ola Masłyk

I had a great experience at this clinic. I came there to check out lumps I found on my dog. The staff was amazing- both the receptionist and the vet were extremely nice and helpful. I could tell they care about my dog's wellbeing. The vet was fantastic- she made the entire experience (even though stressful for my dog) as smooth as possible. The receptionist helped me with making the insurance claim which I appreciate. On top of that the lab results that I was meant to wait for up until a week, came the next day. 10/10, I absolutely recommend this clinic!

  • Jasmine

As I was selecting a vet practice for my little kitten, I decided to go for this one (despite it not being in my area!) since the reviews were higher - and we’d do anything for our little ones. And it is absolutely worth it. The receptionists are polite and kind, the vets are informative, caring, and wonderful. I recently had my kitten spayed here and everything was great! I would definitely recommend this, especially if you are unsure of which practice to choose :)

  • Grace Carruth

I’ve had great experiences so far at Medivet New Cross. I’ve seen a few different vets/nurses at the surgery and they always take lots of time to listen to me as the owner and to explain any treatment that my dog Willow needs. Willow was recently spayed at the surgery and the care she received and the advice I was given were all brilliant. All the reception staff are also lovely and welcoming and always willing to try and find you suitable appointment times.

  • ant co

My cat got in cat fight so I called Medivet to look at his injury,Monday was booked cat Mj refused to be put in carrier,so rescheduled to Wednesday at 9am. Greeted by cheerful reception staff put me at ease, vet then called us in and carried out check and found the injury and dealt with it,vet was very competent and capable in handling Mj and her calm voice and action ensured Mj and myself remained at ease, great service.

  • Tim Hughes

Both colleagues I encountered were brilliant. Very caring, understanding and insightful. I left feeling reassured and trusting that all my visits moving forward would be as brilliant. Would not hesitate to recommend. Really annoyingly I forgot the vet’s name as I’d like to say a huge thanks to her for being great with Noor on her first visit in this strange time ! Great advice, from a friendly and understanding team

  • sovaren

My vet, Sara, and the nurse who assisted her were kind and thorough with spelling out all the options, as well as informing and empowering me to make the best decision for my pet. Sara went above and beyond making me feel in control despite her vastly superior knowledge and experience, and even remembered Salem from a previous visit. Thank you for your kindness and commitment!

  • Anh Dinh

The vet I had last time gave my puppy a different vaccine to his first one. She realised after looking at his vaccination card and said “oh - it’s fine”. She didn’t clarify any further. I asked if he could go out in 2 weeks she said yes but avoid puddles. We live in the UK lol. I know mistakes happen, but an explanation would have been nice. I had to google it after.

  • Joanne Fisher

Fantastic friendly team who work hard caring for my pets. They give great advice and you are seen on your appointment time.Even in these hard times we all face they are very professional and I feel safe letting my pet go in without me as I know the staff generally care about the welfare of my pets. I highly recommend.Great quality of service A***** Many Thanks

  • Tierney Smith

All your staff are super professional but also really friendly, they offer clear advice, lay out the options, and I always feel like you have my dogs best interest in mind. My pup is also very nervous and everyone is always really sensitive to that. As a first time puppy owner I am very happy to have a vet I trust to turn to.

  • Carla Leighton

The whole team have been so welcoming and helpful. It's hard to find a good vet who will treat hamsters, and I feel I can fully trust your team to put Kareem's best interests first and provide great advice to us on his care. Plus everyone told me how cute and good he was - so Kareem is happy with the compliments :)

  • Jasmine m.c

Thank you for your extra time and patience with my anxious fearful dog. Dr Roshni is great, she let my dog have a positive experience all round, building his trust slowly which helped so much. I appreciate it. Also great staff on reception, always answering my questions thanks kim. And vet nurses also.

  • Kat Allen

Incredibly helpful, supportive and so easy to contact if you are concerned at all about your pet. I am so pleased with the care that has been given to our cat. All the staff we have met have been really friendly too and everything they have in place during covid times has made me feel very safe.

The vet Sylvia is amazing, dedicated experienced, fantastic manner. However the gentleman at reception is absolutely awful. Never understands you, alwAys fails to find the appointment snd manner is not good. This 4dx at related purely to Sylvia the vet.
