We went on a Wednesday night at 7 and the place was packed. 90% of the seating is at one communal table and the seats are packed in like sardines. I could barely squeeze in between two people already sitting and couldn't even hear my husband sitting directly across from me because it was so loud. I went up to the counter to try and order and by coincidence was helped by Meredith, the owner. I had to ask her three times whether it was order at the counter or table service before getting a clear answer and I could barely read the menu while standing right in front of it because it is written in white on an antiqued mirror. Meredith told us that you can only order by picking the number of cheeses you want on the board and adding meats but nowhere were any selections visible so I guess they just pick whatever they want to give you and no customization is available. For a shop that only serves cheese and wine this puzzled me. Not to mention the fact that they only serve one red and one white by the glass. If you don't go with one of those options you have to squeeze behind everyone at the communal table to try and pick out a bottle. I could not see any organizational system of grouping the wines, labeling or prices whatsoever. Clearly this place is very popular and people must be loving something about it but I have no idea what that is. We left without ordering because the whole system frankly didn't work for me at all.

This place was decent, but has some things to work out. I met up with a girlfriend for a drinks, when we first walked in, we didn't really know where to start, to sit, to order, etc. The menu is written on a mirrored antique glass on the wall - pretty, but not functional to read. It is written in white writing and with a glare, you can barely read it. The girl behind the counter then gave us directions and said we could order by glass or bottle, she then said her white option was sold out - why not provide another white option, so we were confused by that. We then asked someone else for recommendations on a bold red wine with forward fruits, and the girl just handed us a bottle that was near where she was and said, this is good. Honestly not too convincing or that she really knew what we were asking for. I feel like the shelving should be sorted and labeled of types and varieties, locations, and flavors. Cheese board was brought out to our table. Selection was nice, but the grapes served were warm and mushy. Gross. Our night rounded out with several fruit flies and I noticed other customers were also batting away flies. Overall sub-par.

My husband and I hosted a "Toast to the Newly Engaged Couple" last night at Mere's. Quinn was incredibly gracious to meet me the day before (on his day off) to go over some of the final details and when I arrived last night the charcuterie and chocolate board were all ready and displayed - BEAUTIFUL! Mere and Quinn made the night so special and our guests raved about the food, the drinks, and the venue. One of the guests is a huge foodie and is my go to for NYC and North Carolina dining - his wife sent me a text last night thanking me again for including them. They live in Dilworth and never knew this hidden gem even existed! If you are looking for a fun, relaxed unique venue for an intimate get-together, I can't think of a better place! P.S. There was plenty of food for our guests - around 18 people so don't worry about that one bit - they have you covered.

I placed an order the same day I needed my cheese plate and the website was very easy. My friend is newly pregnant and wasn’t sure of what cheeses she could have so I left that in the notes. Mere, emailed me confirming my order and pick up time. I arrived and her shop is SO cute. I cannot believe I never noticed it before. It had wine bottles, tables and a nice display counter. My order was already prepared and looked so nice! She explained to me everything in the order and the fact that she can have all cheeses because they are all pasteurized! I was ecstatic. She also sells non-alcoholic wine that she offered for me to try. Being pregnant I know we can tend to miss out on certain experiences but Mere made sure that didn’t happen. She was so sweet I highly recommend and will be going back!

Casual visit for the first time today at noon. After going four weekends in a row to some of the most recommended NC general/country stores, we decided to try today the #3 most recommended cheese store: Mere's in Charlotte (#1 is too far from us, and #2, we already been there a couple of times). We are glad we did, ordered a cheeseboard to eat in the place and everything in there (three cheeses, sliced bread and "chorizos", dry fruit, nuts, olives, etc.) was delicious and tasted first class. The staff service and attention was superb. We want to thank Meredith (the owner), once again!

I live around the corner and can’t believe I’ve never been to Mere’s until tonight. The wine was amazing and the charcuterie was delicious, but the best part was the friendliness of the staff. Our server was so knowledgable about the wine and cheese and made us feel so welcome. The owner made a point to acknowledge us many times throughout the night and made sure we were enjoying ourselves, even as an entire party was going on inside. This kind of hospitality can’t be beat and makes me want to be a regular at this place. I can’t wait to go back.

This spot is a Charlotte gem. Mere, Quinn, and the team are wonderful. In other wine spots, I feel a little intimidated by my lack of knowledge about wines, but Mere and her team are so approachable and easy to talk to. Incredible service and product. We've used Mere's for multiple corporate events and they've executed flawlessly, with guests always asking "where is this from??" Grateful to have such a creative, reliable, and engaging group to rely on to make us look good in front of clients and colleagues.

Out of towner: Randomly went into Mere’s while waiting for my girlfriend to finish up some shopping and found a beautiful small business with a great selection of beer, wine, and meats and cheeses. I was greeted by Meredith immediately to offer any assistance. It felt like I had been in this place hundreds of times and was a regular by the way I was treated by Mere and other customers. Great business and even better owner!

I typically don't go for cheese platters. Not something I consider to order at all, really. I have had a few around town and most of the time I am like, "blah." Mere's has made me a convert. The cheese board there was delicious and totally worth it. The pinot noir the friendly staff helped us pick was the right companion to an amazing meal. I would definitely recommend this place.

I went to Meres with two of my girlfriends last Saturday and we had the best time! I’m not a big wine drinker but I love a good charcuterie board. The staff was amazing and recommended two different wines that I actually loved. The charcuterie board was beautiful and it was super delicious too. I live over an hour away but it’s certainly worth the drive. I will be back!

Fantastic selection of cheeses, charcuterie and wines combined with a fun place to hang out with friends make for a great experience. Mere also has beer for that person in your group that isn't in to wine. The cheese boards are immaculately arranged and the wine selection is broad, approachable and has something for most everyone's palette and price point.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! I have been several times since they opened (not long ago). The location is great, the cheese spreads are even better! AND you get to wash it all down with some delicious wines. Everyone there has always been well versed in their recommendations and the daily sandwich specials are always worth stopping in alone!

wow wow wow!!! The cheese and charcuterie are so freaking good! You will just want to eat everything. The best part is the beer and the wine bottles are priced so great! My fiance and I went to Mere's last week for opening night and it was absolutely fantastic. I have been waiting for a place like this to open in the Charlotte metropolitan area. The staff was friendly, the environment was clean and the storefront screamed good food and wine. We will absolute be back.

The charcuterie and wine options here are excellent and well-selected, if pricey. It looks like the cheese selection has decreased recently. The service the past couple times I've been has been somewhat aloof, but overall it's a good option for higher-end cured meats and wines.

The staff is so sweet! They helped me pick a great wine, ran into some friends, great atmosphere, corked up the bottle and took home the “leftovers.” Cannot wait to try this place out for lunch/brunch as well. Great new neighborhood gem!

Ms. Mere kindly suggested wine that paired well with a certain goat cheese for us to gift to my mother's husband. It was a pleasure to do business here. The service is exceptional. We hope to visit again.
