IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A NIGHTMARE OF A MOVE, THIS IS DEFINITELY THE COMPANY TO GO WITH!!! Their drivers don't have a clue what their "manager" is doing.... communication does NOT exist in this company. Midwest movers was supposed to move us from ......... to ........ Their team was supposed to arrive on Friday to load the truck, and the truck was supposed to arrive to the drop location the next day (Saturday). Friday came and went, and no body came. Friday evening, we got a call from "the manager" who asked if it was alright if their driver came early the next morning. We agreed that it was no problem and we were excited to begin our move, although it was already a day behind. The next morning, no body showed up again. We called "the manager", asking what was going on, and she began blaming one of their drivers and saying it was because of him that everything was behind. We then asked when a driver would be coming and were told that "at best, the next morning". We advised them that that was unacceptable as the premises that we were moving from already had other people that were suppose to be moving in that day (Saturday) and that we needed a truck there right away or that there'd be a good chance all of our belongings would be on the curb as the other people were moving in. We were advised by "the manager" that she would make a few calls and see if she could get someone there. At roughly 4:30pm, a driver showed up. This driver was not given any information from "the manager" about any location and had zero idea on what the plan was. We had to make contact with the driver to advise them of what the plan. It was after 9pm, and we were still trying to get the truck loaded. When we asked about when the contents would be delivered, we were told "possibly Monday"!! We couldn't believe what we were being told. We couldn't understand how we went from a move that was suppose to happen Friday/Saturday, and we were now looking at "possibly Monday". We decided that we needed to talk to "the manager" as we had items in the truck (freezers) that needed to be delivered asap as it was fairly time sensitive. We called “the manager......several times, without any luck. Finally, we made contact with her and explained the situation and what we were being told by the driver. Immediately, there were excuses and blame being pushed around about the amount of contents that were in the truck, and "words being put in my mouth" (according to the manager) about how the entire move was suppose to happen, who by this time was yelling at us over the phone!!! After what was already an extremely stressful and anxious day, we couldn't handle being yelled at and berated over the phone by the person who was apparently the "manager". We hung up the phone....... Come Tuesday morning and we get a call from the driver. He’s finally in town and lets us know that he’d be at the location at 9am. Again, 9am comes and goes and no truck or driver show. Finally, at just after 10am, the truck arrives on site. We immediately begin unloading. After a few hours, our stuff is out of the truck. We then notice that the front 6-8’ of the truck had someone else’s belongings. We ask the driver about it and he doesn’t know. We then call the office. We explain to the office how there are a bunch of belongings in the truck that belong to someone else. We tell the office that we’d like to have the truck re-weighed at a scale and that I would be following them there to make sure we get documentation of the actual weight. The office tells us that they don’t have time for that even though it clearly states in the “terms and conditions” of their contract to us that if we wanted the truck re-weighed, we could, but we’d have to pay for it, to which I agreed. The truck leaves, doesn’t hit a scale, and instead heads back to their office in Alberta. People…..BELIEVE AND LISTEN TO THE WARNINGS OF THE OTHERS WHO HAVE USED MIDWEST MOVING AND HAVE LEFT REVIEWS!! How this company is still in business if beyond us.

Cons: Approximately 1k lbs. Tried to fit me in for June 22 or June 24th of 2021, but will call 2 days before the date. June 20th and 21 past. Called on June 22 around 3pm/15h to verify, because Lowina did not call me yet to confirm on the moving date for June 24th. She said they call the day before to give the time frame then the truck driver and movers will arrive to pick up the delivery. A different person emailed me later indicating that they cannot pick up the delivery on June 24th due to the truck being stuck in Manitoba. The next date available was on June 29th. Resulting in cancelling my plane ticket, changing plans and making more back up plans in case they change the date again or cancel on me at the last minute. Once everything was picked up, the company did not contact me at all about the delivery date, payment, update information until the driver and movers showed up unannounced on July 12th. I have emailed a few times to ask for the delivery date, because the apartment building requires a week in advance notice to reserve the elevator for movers. ANNA IS UNPROFESSIONAL! In the email, I was instructed that it would be easier to call or text Anna, she was unresponsive, unprofessional, and unaccommodating. Had to write to the company email to get a response of when the delivery date was, because the first thing they will tell you is pay first. After paying they said Anna will contact me for the delivery time. Through many texts and emails I have sent to Anna and the company, I had explicitly indicated that I would need at least 7 days to reserve the elevator for my building. She would give me 2 to 3 days notice for the delivery. As a dispatcher, she said she cannot control or tell that early in advance where and when the drivers are able to deliver again at my location. I had to ask for her guesstimation and reserve 2 days worth of time slots with my building manager. Day of delivery, Lowina and Anna were unresponsive. Through email and 2 calls the day before delivery, they said the movers will be there between 9am to 12pm. Calling Anna and Lowina went to voicemail. They did not call to update me when it was past 12pm. The movers arrived over an hour late. They did not go through the list of items with the customer to make sure everything was there. The people who delivered are not even from Mid-West Moving and Storage (a company based in Alberta), they are from a local storage company. Damages: bins, coffee stains, rearranged items and missing items. Most of the plastic bins were crushed and lids damaged from other heavy boxes/containers stored above them. A blue bin with playstation games had coffee spilled and stained from the middle to the bottom. Many of the game covers are ruined. Some of the unstained games were on top, it seemed like they were trying to cover the coffee stains up, as well as looking through my bin of games. One of the games in the blue bin appeared in another bin. One of the plastic bins had legs for a bedside table, one out of the four legs is missing, rendering it useless. A box labeled “GLASS” was damaged, there were 2 broken mugs, a chipped glass cup and a jar with a broken lid. Emailed about missing and damages on August 1st to Mid-West Moving and Storage Company. It is now August 12th 2021, they are still unresponsive. Every email, call and text follow-up was initiated and carried out by the customer and not the company. Very difficult to get a response. Mid-West Moving and Storage are UNPROFESSIONAL! Pre-booking checked on Better Business Bureau and they were Accredited, which apparently means nothing. Reviews online for the company were horrid. As I write this review, their page is updating and all the reviews disappeared.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I hired Mid-West to move personal belongings of a family member forced to move from Edmonton to Sydney BC in December after a separation. The belongings were picked up December 27, I paid my deposit of $200 and items were to deliver in Sydney on January 3/17 as per the contract. On January 4 I called to find out where our belongings were and was advised that there were "truck issues" and that they would be on the next truck which 'should' be soon. I was also sent a bill for items they tell me weighed 1600 pounds. The items were weighed prior to being picked up and were under 1000 pounds. So my rate went from $1,100 to $1,600. I asked to have the stuff reweighed and was told it would cost me $450 to have that done. January 5. At this point I request to come and pick up my belongings myself and have them delivered another way. I am told I am more than welcome to pick up my stuff but that I will have the pay the full delivered amount of $1,600 plus $120 warehouse fee before I can have it. Ludicrous. I relent and say "fine I deliver for your price, but I will have to borrow the difference in order to pay. She tells me to call her when I have the money in place. I advised here the same day that money was in place. On January 9 I contacted them again to find out status and was advised their scheduler had been in hospital and they would advise the next day when the truck was going. January 10, sent another email and got no response. January 12, sent another email and was then advised that they would not have another truck going until January 30 and that they could not send a partial load to the island. January 25, yet another email was sent and they responded that they were "hoping" it would delivery by February 6. At this point I am extremely frustrated and ask to speak to the owner. I was advised that the owner was not available to discuss this and that I would have to deal with the person I had been up until now as the owner sick. January 27 I contact my lawyer. He sends a letter stating that I am prepared to resolve the issue by picking up my belongings and forfeiting the $200 deposit despite the fact that the moving companies actions to date have been appalling. Still they refuse to cooperate. All I want is my grand kids stuff back so I can get it to them. More back and forth emails between lawyer and moving company and it is agreed that they will deliver on February 3. I agree. Lawyer steps out of picture. On January 30 I forward an email with a new contact number for the delivery. I receive an email back saying they refuse to deliver unless I pay full amount up front or pay $400 to come to Calgary to pick up my stuff because they want "no more trouble". I reply that "the original contract stated that payment was due on delivery. You cannot change those terms without my further agreement. Please confirm you will abide by the original contract and its payment terms. If you are choosing to cancel that contract, then I expect to be refunded my $200 deposit and to be allowed to retrieve my items at no further charge." Her response was "we will not deliver unless paid up front". My last response to them was "if you think for one second that I will pay $1400 to a company that has breached a contract not once, but twice and failed to deliver the stuff not once but twice you must take me for a complete fool. I will not pay before we see the items in the truck at the delivery location as per the contract which I signed. If you want me to pick up the items because you are breaking the contract it is at your cost, not mine." And here we sit.........................

Worst job ever, worked there for the summer. In the beginning really enjoyed all the aspects of the job, good manual Labour, decent pay and long hours. It's under new ownership and unfortunately the owner has no idea what she's doing. Customers orders got mixed up, very poor organization of the warehouse. I watched people's personal stuff get thrown around and if damage happened, they would dismiss it and call it moving damage. The long haul driver is an alcoholic and will set aside any booze he finds during pick up because he knows vary well that he's not allowed to transport liquids and he will just mark it off the sheet later. Now, let's get back to the owner, promised 20 bucks and hour, gave me 15, gave me a raise to 18 but then started to deduct hours from my paycheck so really the raise was irrelevant. One such event happened when a gas attendant put gas in a diesel tank and I was stuck on the side of the road for 4 hours with minimal tools and two trips to the city to fix the truck, she believed that was free work and wasn't paid for. Second time during drop off the customer was questioning the weight he was getting charged for and with good reason after the reweight of the truck we found out that it was 1400 pounds difference. At 52 cents a pound that's a lot of dough being charged to the customer. Now I got charged 2 hours for telling the customer that we are off to get 're weighed. Defanatly discovered the shady side of the moving business that day. Oh wait it doesn't end there. When the truck is weighed on the scale we have to fill up the fuel to the top and if the customer isn't around we are told to hangout in the truck to add weight to the load. Now if you haven't figured it out well diesel weights about 2 pounds a litre, two big movers usually add around the 450 pounds mark so with the added diesel customers can be charged for an extra 600 pounds at 52 cents a pound with out even knowing it. All this is based on a empty truck weight with no guys in the truck, the diesel at a quarter tank and no blankets or tools either. When I started there the empty weight was the same every time. Before I go to pick up any order I am required by law to have a weight ticket done, but told not too.......shady. the last draw for me was when a customer didn't want to spend extra money for matress protection but the owner was so furious about it that of course she wanted to charge me. Normally when I leave a job, I move on no matter what and not write a nasty review. In this case the owner keeps harassing me with texts, they called me 6 times today while I'm at work. They won't leave me alone after a month of not working there. So find yourself a different moving company especially one that's not trying to squeeze every penny from you.

The Ontario MOVERS were awesome! They were punctual, and did a great job. They were super friendly, and we were confident that we made the right call to use this company for our move. The Calgary side deserves negative stars if I could. The only good thing about the Calgary side was the movers, as they did a great job, and were very friendly. On the other hand, the Calgary operations department is a dumpster fire. We were promised a delivery date that was confirmed multiple times over email by ALEX in TORONTO. After driving 5 days across Canada from Toronto to Calgary, we were notified over email that the movers would not be coming on the promised day and could not give an estimated time on arrival (stated could be weeks). The email also stated that we had to pay in full before we could book delivery or even see our belongings. Thankfully, their head office is in Calgary and I was able to walk in to talk to an associate. After speaking to a young girl, a middle aged lady asked me what I needed. I told her we needed a delivery date as we are living in hotels and need our furniture. This immediately brought on EXTREMELY aggressive behaviour as she started screaming in my face that I need to leave and she will call the police on me. She then took my phone out of my hand (I was on the phone with family as witnesses), opened their front door, and threw my phone in their garden. This woman then proceeded to lock me out of the facility. I then called 911 as I was terrified they had stolen all of my belongings, and we would be left with nothing. The police showed up, and this woman conveniently left in her escalade when her manager LOWINA called me on a private line and I told her I called the police. We talked to the police who told us this operation looked very "sketchy" and that they shouldn't be in business. Mid West moving promised the police our items will be delivered by the following Wednesday, and it was. The only reason our load was delivered is because the police were involved. Also, 2 things to note. Their BBB accreditation has been revoked, but at their head office, their BBB accredited sticker is still in the window. THEY ARE NOT BBB ACCREDITED. Second, all of their 5 star google reviews come from profiles with one review, and the profile is locked. This tells me that when they get a well deserved poor review, the create a few fake emails and leave 5 stars and well written reviews to push the poor reviews to the bottom. DO NOT TRUST THE 5 STAR REVIEWS. This was an absolute nightmare, and if you are thinking of using this company for your move, do yourself a favour and use this review as a guide. This company should not be in business, and it is appalling to me that they continue to operate

Stay far, far away from this company. If I could give them a negative star rating I would. TLDR: They lost some of our belongings, smashed our belongings, couldn't follow a schedule, wouldn't take our calls and wouldn't compensate us for our losses. In depth version: They were hours late for pickup without letting us know. When delivering, they randomly showed up to deliver our boxes, even though we tried to book a specific time as we had to book the elevator at our new apartment. When they showed up, they only brought half of our belongings and tried to get us to sign off that we received all of them. It took a while to track down the second half, and it turns out it was in a different loading dock. It showed up a few days later in horrible condition. We watched them wrap our furniture up in blankets as they left, but when they unloaded our items from the truck nothing was wrapped. Most of our boxes were squished and split open, all of our furniture was dinged up, and some of it had some mysterious oily substance spilled all over it (see the photos of the boxes and dresser). Some of the furniture was delivered in multiple pieces, even though it wasn't meant to come apart. Some of it was wrapped in tape to keep it together. A new tool kit had the latches completely ripped off. Some of the fragile boxes that clearly said "this way up" and "fragile" were delivered into our apartment upside down, and at the bottom of the pile. We had to throw out some of our furniture as it was completely smashed, and our couch had grease marks on it. Our belongings looked like they were in a car crash at some point. When we tried to lodge a complaint, we were given the run around, rarely having anyone answer our calls. We had to threaten to call lawyers before they responded, and when we asked for our insurance payout, they told us the deductible would be higher than what we would be paid out, meaning that the insurance premium we paid was completely useless. If this company paid for all the things they lost or broke, they would be completely bankrupt.

Midwest moving company does not deserve 1 star what they deserve -5 star. I'm really surprised they are still in business. Read this and make a decision if you want headaches or good moving experience. We use them to move us from another province. Let's start in the beginning. Found them through internet I didn't do my due diligence by checking the reviews which is my fault. Please learn from my mistakes not yours. When I called and spoke to someone to set it up I was told I need to put $500 none refundable deposit to secure my date. We had a date set and it was moved to the next day. Not only that promised but one thing was my whole personal belongings will get moved at once that did not happened. They had to come back the next week to pick up the rest. They were dirty and they charge a lot to move you. $10000 after my 75 inch TV broken and bunch more. When I called them about this they said to put a claim. I did and what they said is they pay for weight all my damages came to 500lbs less than $350 deductible so they won't pay. That is so bad the employee by midwest broke and not careful and not professional broke my belongings. They are not professional I will not even recommend them to anyone. I have bunch of emails back and forth to use this to bring it to the media and take them to court. They will hold your properties till you pay. And whatever the cost you will need to pay becuase they don't tell you the amount till they are done. Another company was just cought due to this kind of business. I did try to ask to speak with the owner so they are aware of this business ethic. No one got back to me. Use this message how you like. But if you have been taken advantage by this company we need to speak up before they damage or take advantage of the customer like us. Calgary had put a campaign to enticed people to move here. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY I PROMISE YOU YOUR MOVE WONT BE GOOD EXPERIENCE!!!! LEARN FROM EVERYONE HERE

The only reason I give one star because I cant give them zero star. The moving company quoted for my move from Calgary to Vancouver with a normal price. During the move-out, they charged us things not in the contract including the scale fee. More than that, they also charged us mattress covers which were not provided. They provided us a sofa cover without letting us know, not to mention the price for the plastic cover. They also provided us a cardboard box without letting us know that would be charged for 35 dollars. When we argued the bill with the lady called Sue, She told us that needs to be charged because they quoted my job low.. OMG.. The delivery day delayed for three scheduled times and when eventually the mover came to my Vancouver location and told us they need to charge $150 more because of the exterior stairs. I actually have to pay otherwise the driver threated me he will be gone right away (I had told the lady about the exterior stair issue when she first provided us a quote. She confirmed at the time there will be no extra charge for the exterior stair).. They also rushed the move and said they will not install the furniture for us because the driver will need to go catch the ferry (As part of the deal, the moving company promised to install my furniture back when signing the agreement). I ended up install most of my furniture and they only provided very little help for my installation. After we completed the move, we found we missed a box and we have couple pieces of furniture broken including my brand new book shelf. Anyway, I definitely had very bad experience with this moving company and they kept asking for more and adding hidden charges. I will not recommend this moving company because they are extremely unprofessional and un-respective to their client and the client's treasures.

  • Ryan Yamada

Do not use this company! They showed up 2 hours after the promised time of "before 9am", and were not professional at all. The driver hires random, inexperienced people from the drop in center (in actuality, the drop in center hiree was more polite and professional than the driver was, but inexperienced to say the least). They didnt properly protect any of the furniture, broke a lamp and blamed us for it saying "it's your fault because we feel rushed". After leaving the old place, they took over an hour to drive from the north end of the city to the south and tried to charge us for the extra lunch hour they took. When unloading, the driver got angry because we were helping unload the truck (he never informed us we weren't allowed to do that) then proceeded to say "this guy is from drop in center, if you help how is he supposed to make money?" Not really our problem to begin with and not a professional way to act. When he offloaded our 2000 dollar table, he was angry so he slammed it down on the garage floor and scratched the edge. I asked them to bring the king sized mattress upstairs (big mistake) they didnt put any runners out and wore they're dirty shoes all the way up the brand new, steam cleaned carpets and at the same time, scraped a ton of stipple off the ceiling at the bottom and top of the stairs. No care was taken with any of our stuff and they literally rammed the mattress through the opening out of frustration and slammed the sofa into the wall leaving a big dent. Dont hir this company unless you are looking to have your belongings damaged, house messed up, overcharged for time you're not responsible for, and guilt tripped into not feeding the homeless. Terrible professionalism. Lowina was great to deal with but the movers are horrible.

  • Adrianna Moore

If i could give this company 0 stars I would. They are extremely unorganized and unprofessional. I am never one to review a company but in this case it is necessary. Originally, we dealt with Lowina about our move from Toronto to Kelowna. She was very helpful, determined and beyond lovely. Our issues began when the movers came to pick our things up, they scratched up our walls and floors. We were then told we would have the weight of our items by that evening. This was a lie. After emailing multiple times inquiring about the status and amount of our bill, we recieved our quote 10 days later. After finally being quoted, they expected payment by the next day in order for them to deliver on the date we had originally planned. When we inquired about the damages to my apartment, i dealt with Anna who was extremely rude. She would not let me speak, and when I finally got the chance to express all of my concerns she responded with “Are you done?” And then hung up. To say I am unimpressed is an understatement. I have never dealt with such a disorganized and rude individual. After our things finally got delivered, we were left with one extra box with valuable family heirlooms that did not belong to us, I emailed the company to let them know, and they said they would pick it up on a certain evening. I stayed in all day expecting a phone call expressing they would be here soon, and nothing. I still haven’t recieved a response or a planned appointment for this other customer to recieve their things. In a cross country move like mine, it is always stressful, but Mid West Moving Company was by far the most stressful part of my move (and I moved with 4 animals that don’t get along). I do not recommend moving with is company.

  • Nikita Gullion

I cannot stress enough to believe all of the negative reviews you read! We gave Mid West a chance, despite the reviews, and I will never recommend them to anyone. Everything was wonderful leading up to the moving day. Even the movers who came were down to earth and friendly. We had no problems at all. Our stuff was moved from Edmonton to Mississauga. Upon receiving our delivery, my Muskoka chair arrived broken (which I sent a photo of to Sue, who didn't acknowledge it whatsoever. Although I said my boyfriend would be fixing it, there was still no response or apology regarding the issue itself). We were (and still are) missing two boxes. I originally sent an email to see what was going on with the missing items and heard nothing back. I followed up a few days later and was told by Sue that she would contact me later that day but yet I still didn't hear anything back. Once the time came to actually do the job and look into where our items were, it seemed that Mid West had zero care in the world. I had to send a rude email just to get a response back. With a $350 deductible and only $0.66/lb it isn't even worth claiming and giving them even more of our money. They completely disregarded the issue and have no care that their company lost our items. There are only a few places the boxes could be - in a warehouse, at another clients house, or they were stolen. As great as they were prior to the move, once things got serious they were completely useless and couldn't care less about their clients or the employee errors leading to the client issue(s). Seriously, believe the reviews and don't give them your money.

The rating should be lower then 1 star. DO NOT USE. the pricing is ridiculous higher then almost all others the knowledge and attitude in staff is emberassing at best, they try to act smart but clearly not.we were gonna use them but in a conversation with 1 lowinda we were going over prices she stated let's start the ball rolling with a deposit if it doesn't work out I'll return it,then started sending multiple different quotes after the deposit sent that didn't make sense when questioned she had a mental breakdown on the phone a call that was recorded on my end wouldn't put me through to a manager then finally spoke with a manager named Anna and if you want professional service you won't get it from her she tried every angle to be smart but got outsmarted. With all of this lowinda attempted to claim to Calgary police I was threatening her (convo was all time stamped and recorded) not 1 threat then tried claiming they would sue me for duress and charge me well the police called me and sure thing they determined it was a lie and told me to fight for the money back they believe the company wanted to use bully tactics after all this lowinda started adding us to Facebook how she found us is creepy plain and simple do not use this company at all the end result was the bank pulled the money and returned it to my account services not rendered they never showed up and tried to keep the money funny thing cause what came of this other then me getting my money back absolutely nothing. The owners of this company need to really review the employees and absolutely emberassing company

  • Cole Plaskett

Do NOT use this company. I suspect the reviews that give any more than 1 star are fake. Absolutely horrible experience in every way. It's the same company as starway movers who have a very poor reputation. Anna and Lowina in particular were the problems I had. The people who you talk to are nice in the beginning and are very very rude, unresponsive, unhelpful and will straight up lie. Multiple situations happened where they told me one thing, and when it didn't happen and I showed them proof of what they said they denied it. The move didn't even leave Toronto until almost 2 weeks after scheduled delivery, they made up excuses about a number of things, demanded I pay them in order to schedule my move even though my stuff was still not shipped and I was on Calgary (the destination). After paying them and catching them lying multiple times my stuff finally arrived and the guys moving my stuff in were told my Anna to not take it to each room, even though I specifically paid for the service, informed them multiple times of the stairs situation and they promised me it wasn't a problem. They extorted me for money at the door for the full service and I had to help them move the entire move inside, if I had not they would have left it all at my front door. Disgusting and horrible service, these people should be put out of business, I'll be contacting the news and other journalists to share my story. This company must be shut down and the owners should be barred from operating business.

Zero stars....there are no stars who work for this company! It will not let me post this review unless I pick a star....boo for that! On the weekend a Mid-West Moving truck with an inexperienced driver showed up at our strata with a 48' trailer plus tractor to move one of the residents. They were suppose to arrive the next day but at the last minute apparently called the owner and said "now or never". Unfortunately, the company obviously did not ask the right questions because a rig of that size is not able to turn around anywhere on the property and the only option the driver had was to back down a steep hill but because of his inexperience he did not have the confidence required to do that. Accommodations were made by Strata Council who are VOLUNTEERS which included obtaining approval from the Fire Department to exit through a locked emergency gate and time spent was in excess of 2 1/2 hours.....no "thank you" or word of appreciation. On Monday afternoon I called to speak to a manager, was advised there was no manager in the office....just the rude woman who answered the phone and told me "good luck with that" when I asked "to whom should I send an invoice for my time" and then hung up on me. The packing job I witnessed was terrible and I'm pretty sure many items will be damaged when received. Beware! Do not use this company. I will be telling everyone under the sun not to use your services so "good luck with that".

I only offered one star to their customer service rep, Lowina. It has been a very nightmare for our experiences with this company. We relocated from Vancouver, BC to Ottawa, ON. We decided to use this company because of Lowina's customer services. We were told it will take around 2 - 3 weeks to expect the futures to arrive, which it is fine. However, the furniture are delivered almost a month late and I had to follow up every week. Finally, they have arranged the delivery date. All the big size furniture were properly wrapped by blankets in Vancouver. When the truck arrived at my new place in Ottawa, I have discovered our expensive king size bed headboard was not wrapped in the blankets, and left side of the headboard was scratched badly. We have other kitchen stuff were broken which we fully understand this could happen during moving. After we unwrapped all the boxes and settle down, we have discovered my Dyson vacuum and PS4 were missing. I have sent an email to Lowina to ask for feedback about the scratched headboard, missing Dyson vacuum and PS4, she said she will wait for a feedback from their Toronto office (which it is under the name of National wide Moving). I waited for 4 weeks and I have to follow up again and no response again. I understand this is out of Lowina's hand. This company customer services and feedback are really bad and please stay away from them.

They dont even deserve a star! Worst company I have ever delt with! Never returns emails, rude phone manner and failed to mention that the shipping container needed to weigh more then 20,000 lbs before shipping when moving provinces. In our contract it stated that we needed to give them 10-15 days notice of when we would like our stuff by, we gave 20 days notice to have it here for July 2nd and we still have not recieved it! We were told on Tuesday that our stuff was being picked up by the other movers and we would get a call on Wednesday and received no call. Now on Thursday they told us the container is back logged and they wont be picking our stuff up until Saturday or Monday! They are filled with nothing but lies and excuses!! They have left me woth no belgonings while being 35 weeks pregnant for half a month and the only compensation they have offered was to waive the storage fees which our contact says we have 1 month free storage and out stuff wasnt even in their warehouse for a month! We have asked repeatedly for the tracking information of the shipping container and the contact information of the movers in Ontario and they have failed to provide any of that information when being repeatedly asked! Worst company ever, will never use them again if we do another province to province move and highly DO NOT recommend them!!!

  • Dana Robbie

AVOID. Hands down, the most incompetent business I have ever dealt with. They were three hours late and did not care. This made us miss our move-in window, which we have to pay a substantial fee for. They do not care. They damaged my home. They damaged my belongings. They damaged my son's bike. They do not care. Upon 2/3 completion of the move-in process, I received a call requesting payment for the remainder of the moving fees (as is their policy). The problem was that the bill was twice the quoted amount AND when I spoke with Anna, the owner, to express the concerns above, she said pay or we take your things. Then she hung up on me. And, they took my things. Like thieves. The only thing to do with con artists like these is to pay, and they know it. They have their system down to a fine art. Sure, they move furniture like three-legged donkeys, but they'll keep the good stuff like smooth criminals.... the cost of taking them to court is far higher than paying them, and they are well aware. Oh, and they were late to deliver the rest of my things after paying. Again. And the owner hung up on me again. Avoid this circus, unless you want to be robbed. They say they have a "legal team" to deal with people who complain, but what they likely have is a broken magic 8 ball that they stole from a child. These people are disgusting.

  • Yassir Hamandi

Don't use this company. Be aware. - They destroyed most of my furniture because they did not rap the furniture with blankets as their contract states. - My move was in July 2017 from Calgary, AB to Mississauga, ON. They have the most unprofessional and unexperienced moving team. They spent more than 7 hours on the day of move from Calgary, the crew was loud and they had several fights among themselves. They were out of rapping blankets after just few and they said that they will rap it later, but they didn't. - The furniture arrived to Mississauga but most of it was severely damaged, not just scratches. some things were totally broken and some totally ruined. - I called them afterward. their insurance is a joke, they compensate for damaged weight ($0.6/ damaged pound) after $350 deductible. Even with that, they did not proceed with insurance, I asked for some refund because the damage was their fault and they hanged the phone in my face. I talked to Sue, before the move she was very nice and answers everything quickly and seemed professional. After the move, she turned into this horrible unprofessional person. They run a scamming business. They did not send me the weight slip and I'm sure they charged me alot more than my stuff's weight. I asked for the scale slip few time, and they did not send it.

  • Raman Sokhi

I wish I could give them a zero star. We moved from Ontario to Edmonton, Alberta. when we contacted them, they gave us a fair rate, they seemed professional over the phone and promised us that our stuff will reach Edmonton in 2 weeks the max. The lady 'Sue' also promised us that there will be no hidden surprises regarding the cost and any other services. But we got our stuff after 1 month! Sue is VERY rude and unprofessional. No manners, no professionalism, will hang up the phone on your face. The moment they picked up our stuff, their tones changed! They would not answer our phone calls, if they did answer it, Sue would be really rude and hung up the phone many times. When I told Sue that she promised that our stuff will reach within 2 weeks and we didnt even have a bed to sleep on and I got back pain because of sleeping on the floor. She said 'we cannot do anything about it, u just have to wait, we dont know when your stuff will arrive'. We hired another company to move our cars and our cars arrived in 4 days! Mid west is a Very unprofessional company, highly rude staff (Sue), your stuff will never arrive on time. I do not recommend them at all. Please believe all the reviews and use another professional company.

  • Melinda L Anderson

A few weeks ago and after researching various moving companies, I made a drastic mistake of calling Mid-West Moving and Storage Services. What lured me was the fact that the quote was between $1000 and $1500 dollars less than all other moving companies. RED FLAG! Unfortunately, I failed to heed my instincts and booked with the company. I gave Lowina my credit card information however, I did not sign the authorization form that she e-mailed to me. She was very adamant that I do so immediately and contacted me at least four times within two hours to do so but I did not sign it. I viewed the companies poor rating on BBB and immediately called Lowina to cancel the move as well as, refund me my $500.00. She said she would not do this and spent no less than twenty minutes trying to convince me that the company is reputable. I also read the Google reviews and the horror stories relating to this company. I have submitted a fraudulent claim with my credit card company as well as, contacted BBB. I am also going to take legal action as a consumer the right to change their mind within a certain time frame regarding a purchase. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY TO MOVE YOUR BELONGINGS!!! BEWARE!!!

  • D

They will make you pay at least 3x the quote. They were nice at first and gave me a reasonable quote. As soon as they had my first $500 everything changed. They gave me 2 potential moving dates and did not show up at either. I called multiple times and searched the internet for alternate phone numbers. I finally got a hold of someone and had to miss a day of work to be available for the new date. They showed up late on the new moving date and I was not allowed to see the empty scale weight. The movers did not arrive with any of the supplies I ordered and paid for. Once they had my stuff things got worse. They kept revising the drop off date. 42 days later I got the final invoice it way more than my quote and way more than the original movers said it would be. They found a way to add an extra 2800 lbs and charged me for everything including the supplies they never brought. They held me stuff for ransom until I paid. Lowina pretends to be nice and helpful but she is the direct person in charge of robbing you. Don't trust her! She will rob you!

  • Mark Abernethy

AVOID THIS COMPANY! Overcharged, unorganized and MANY broken and damaged items. I tried to get ahold of someone and they essentially blew me off. Rude and even making defamatory statements about me. Horrific experience. If you can move yourself you'll not only save money but the absolute worst experience. Zero professionalism. As soon as I had a problem they avoided me. There aren't enough bad things I can say about this company. My sister has cancelled her move with Mid West movers. And there are two others who were going to book with them, but not now. Awful, just awful. The photos are just a few of the items completely destroyed. There were MANY more. Antiques and family heirlooms scratched and ruined. One of the employees said I should have taken detailed photos, before the move, and sent them in an email as proof they were damaged by their company. Wow! Unbelievable. Don't even bother with this Clown show. And based on the other reviews there is no point in trying to get any money for compensation. A complete joke. 0 stars.

  • Chris Manthey

WARNING USE ANOTHER COMPANY!!! HORRIBLE SERVICE I am writing this review based on the service that my tenant revived from this hack show moving company. They would not attempt to make it to the house to drop off his things as my driveway was too long. I ended up using my work truck to get his things from the moving truck so that he would get his things so he wouldn't have to wait until Midwest could rent a u haul to complete the job. Upon putting his things in my truck (which he had to do himself) that was the end of there help. Driver refused to come and unload my tenant's things into his suit. They also sent 3 or more items to the wrong place on the wrong truck. They have refused to compensate me for my time, fuel and truck. Oh and may I also say that he missed a week of work because the pick-up and drop off dates agreed apon was not met. Oh and the driver had 2 flats on his truck in the middle of winter. Find another moving company these guys will screw you any way they can. 0 star if possible.

  • Jacquie Wald

We moved from Calgary to Salmon Arm BC. They quoted us a fare rate so we agreed to go with them. The crew were a bit rough around the edges but we figured what the heck. They are occasional staff from the unemployment line....not so. They were employed by the moving company and arrived "hung over". They broke a shelving unit, many dishes and glasses, our stereo, scratched our furniture. They misplaced our dolly (they thought it was theirs) which we had to actually go to the warehouse and search around for and when I said to Sue "if you can't find it I'll charge you $100 to replace it" she laughed and said "that'll be the day". We did find it in one of their trucks strapped inside. We are still missing some garage stuff like our jack and a few other things. BE FORWARNED!! The price they quote is NOT a fair deal after the way they treat your belongings. They were also late by 2 days and we had to pay another night of hotel and missed a day of work, and they refused to compensate us for anything!!!!

  • Ryan Sernecky

Worst moving company ever!! They wrecked most of out furniture! My wife's antique cedar chest has pieces missing, her China was broken, family pictures are missing, our outdoor picnic table only came with the legs. I'm guessing the table top (it was glass) is broken, that's probably why it never showed up. our outdoor swing is bent and broken, antique side table was scratched, and not even covered during our move. our electric fireplace came broken in pieces. When they opened the back of the truck up, it looked like they just threw everything into the truck as they were going to the dump. I'm actually pretty sure we take care of our garbage better than they " took special care of our belongings in a professional manner". I would never recommend this company to anyone! If I had my way, I wouldn't even give them one star. And dealing with the claims department wasn't much better. I hope this company goes out of business! Oh, and they were an entire day late after booking them 5 weeks in advance.

  • Catherine Milaire

This is the most unprofessional business I have ever encountered. 1. Late delivery 2. Gross negligence in handling my goods and treasures. Many items were damaged and "destroyed". All items all wrapped and packed with great care and attention and marked EXTREMELY FRAGILE 3. Lost items 4. Found Items 5. Lost items again 6. 6 months writing emails and lettesr to the owner to find out where my items were without a response 7. Finally spoke to an employee that said sorry, its lost again and there is nothing we will do about it. DO NOT use this business for moving anything that means anything to you. Expect lost, damaged, destroyed items. also expect that they will NOT communicate with you no matter how many emails and letters you send. If you have used this company and /or decide to hire them, ensure that all your communications are written. You may need this to file a claim. I'm glad I did If I could rate and post this without providing ANY stars I would

  • Sina Tahmasbi

This company is very close to a scam. They probably don't have any offices anywhere. one of the contacts that took care of my move was very nice, helping and promising at first (before any payment), btw her name is Sue! I mention her name because went through a lot of problems with them. She gave me a quote of 1300 CND and then charged me 2200 CND. That's aside they are not responsive at all after everything is paid and they get their money. The move was horrible. They have already lost one office desk and 2 boxes of mine, which I had a lot of important thing in them. My sectional was damaged and so dirty when arrived, and now after almost two weeks of delivery time they are not responding to my emails and calls for my lost items. Anyways, if you want your stuff lost and damaged and want to be charged twice of what you agreed upon, go with this company. Don't just rely on my comment and read others too. Hope this has been helpful.

  • Maged Farid

My experience with this company was horrible I hired them to transfer my house furniture from Oshawa, ON to Calgary, AB I asked them if I can book specific date and time to pick up my stuff and they said yes ( yes was the answer of any question before sending the deposit) they didn’t come on time and after about an hour of waiting I called the person in-charge of the job, he rudely told me I’m busy now, I’ll come to you after I finish my current job or I’ll cancel your job, I don’t care After delivery, I was shocked with the amount of damaged and lost stuff . Almost all wooden furniture was broken and clearly they handled it extremely carelessly but their reasoning was that “ you have week furniture “ and this is not covered by insurance. They never respond to mails and calls after delivery ( they used to call me twice daily and send an email daily to follow up with me before sending the deposit )

  • jenni mcgrew

Starway and Mid-West are the same company. BEWARE, you will get ripped off (go read my starway review). We were misquoted by 75% and told they would not deliver our things until paid in full. Totally Shanghaied. The woman who does the quotes is the owner btw and will be unavailable if you try and hold her accountable as she refuses to take responsibility as she hides behinds the employees. I get no joy out of posting negative reviews but only hope this helps save you the thousands of dollars we had to pay that we didn’t have the money for. Super disappointed. Never in our lives have we encountered such poor business practices. The moving crew was a great team, only snag was they broke our dining table; other than that great crew. Find another moving company if you’re wise. They’ll quote you low and then force you out of thousands or take all your belongings.

  • Carolyn Kelter

It's absolutely criminal that Canada doesn't have a regulatory body for moving companies. Don't believe anything they say or they're contract! Our furniture wasn't picked up on time approximately 6 hours late and arrived approximately 3 weeks after date, over budget and almost everything damaged or missing! We also had items of other customers delivered and when we said the furniture wasn't ours, they asked if we didn't want it!? If you are wanting to take this company to court and make them accountable for they're actions, please contact me. We sent our letter of complaint for court they opened it and sent it back. Lowina and Anna, It's been a year, we needed time to heal and prepare to make you accountable for your dishonesty and fraudulent ways you run your business and helping others not suffer what we've been through! They are absolutely criminal!

  • Carmel Weaver

I have never written a bad review in my life but felt that this one had to be written. Do not use this company. Their estimate system is totally unreliable. We were hit with double what we were quoted. Also, they sent two very inexperienced movers to pick up our things who had to be told not to use tape directly on the wood furniture. They now have our money, our things, and no delivery in sight. Move in date was suppose to be November 1st. It is now November 8. Apparently our things are now in Brampton, Ontario, somewhere in a train container (not a truck as we were lead to believe) with no ETA. We have spent $1600 in hotels, hundreds in restaurants, and obviously there will be more. They totally misrepresented their ability as movers. This company is not a moving company, it’s a nothing more than a disorganized shipping company.

  • Sarah Bergeron

I dont like to give negative reviews but I dont feel right in this case. Even with multiple emails and trying to figure things out. We did not receive everything back that we gave to their care, we are missing at least two big boxes of things. Everything we got was not in tact, multiple things were badly broken and had to be replaced. The agreement for replacing things by weight and mere pennies compared with what you would actually pay for something. So even with adding up all the things that were missing and broken we did not get any refund. The advertisement that they will treat things as their own, or the great customer service when you first are in contact, is not what you get throughout your time with them. It was a terrible experience. Please do not use this company.

  • Rob Hill

Broken TV damaged floors in New house was two weeks late. Not able to prove why delay occurred and the insurance they provided is a absolute shame would need to have items by weight broken value of the items do not come in on the insurance they apparently provide. When called out they provide sparky responses to try and cover themselves. Myself and a family member used these guys and same experience aside from they put the items away in the family members house but when they arrived at mine they did not and the dispatch says they have never done it and will not do it even though it was done at my family members house. Would give 0 stars if possible.

  • Colleen Jasnich

I am sorry to see such low ratings for this company but understand that everyone has their own experience. For our family, MID-WEST MOVING AND STORAGE SERVICES was absolutely amazing! They came to our home in Ontario, carefully moved 15 years worth of furniture and things to their storage facility in Calgary and then maintained/stored all of our things until we found our new home in the west. EVERY SINGLE ITEM arrived without so much as a scratch. One bicycle was omitted but later delivered as promised. I have nothing but praise for this company because they did not let me down in anyway, whatsoever. I would use them again!

  • Daniel Croke

Hired Mid-West to move our belonging from Edmonton to Ottawa. I won't go into all the details, however all I will say is that if you have no problems with your old home, new home, AND your belongings being severely damaged and not being compensated for any of the damage, then Mid-West is the company for you! Seriously, I implore you to seek out other companies for your moving needs. I really wish I had read these reviews before using Mid-West, as they proved to be quite accurate. I very much regret the decision to hire Mid-West, and my only hope is that I can help you to avoid making the same mistake.

  • Meinhard Mare

I can not complain enough how bad this experience was. We moved from Ontario to BC, the truck that was supposed to pick up our move came two days late. The delivery was a week late and even though we paid to have our things offloaded in our new place, we had to do it ourselves. Even with all this, the absolute WORST part is that there is NO support services. We tried to phone multiple times to get information and feedback on the the status of our move but there was no answer. I absolutely do not recommend using this service. I don't know how a company like this is still in business.

  • Don Geiger

After reading the reviews on this site there is not much more I can share other than what has been written about this company is the absolute truth. If their price seems fair, beware and if you ever have to deal with screaming Anna that is her way of answering a question that is if you can even explain why you are asking . Alex and Lowina are great to deal with unfortunately they have to work with this company. Don't say you have not been warned. After 5 moves I wish we had spent more $ and used our other moving provider. Stay away from Mid-West. Read the reviews they say it all.

  • Dominic Chan

I would give this company 0 stars if I could. I rarely write reviews on google but I was mind blown by how poor this company is. Do NOT use them. My wife and I moved from Calgary to Vancouver recently. They lost some of our furniture including some christmas decorations we spent years collecting and other personal momentos. Their insurance policy (or lack there of an insurance policy) sucks. Do NOT make the same mistake we did, going with this company. We also received things that did not belong to us and they refused to take them back....

  • R Arownet

In a move from Ontario to Calgary they lost 9 boxes of my household. When questioned about it, they ignored me. When I finally spoke to the owner Anna, she told me 'too bad'. I showed her the receipt from the movers that moved the boxes into my home and counted the boxes twice... proving that 9 boxes were missing, and she didn't care. Not sure if it was a coincidence that missing boxes contains tools, wine, and liquor. They also damaged 3 pieces of furniture... all of which were damaged beyond repair. Avoid at all costs.

  • Ginetta Carnevale

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are the worst movers ever. First she is great and sympathetic and caring but once they have your stuff. It all changes. They ad charges without your permission, they take stuff they are not supposed to take and they do not listen. Then they break everything and just chuck your items around. They hold you hostage as they have all your stuff. I still do not have my stuff and I being a single mom do not have the resources to pay double what was quoted.

  • KHALIFA THIAM

Worst company in the moving industry in Canada I have been working in the moving since a while but never seen such a bad company. They took my deposit did not show up at the moving day I made more than 100 calls and emails no response and don't want refund my deposit. Your company should've been closed because what you do is just rip off. I will take all actions I can to sue you. this girl Lowina is the biggest crook do not trust anything she tell you once they took money its over

  • Mark Brooks

they gave me one pickup date for vehicle before i paid in advance, and another date once they received payment. gave me one delivery date for my property before apid, and another date after i paid. after providing pictures and documentation of damage and breakage from move, they will not return emails or phone calls. Lowina, is perhaps the most unprofessional person i have ever dealt with, she is a lying, misquoting, insulting person who has no business being in business.

  • Frank Barrows

Would give 0 stars if I could. The most unprofessional company ever. Can't even honour their own contracts. Once they have your stuff. Just expect to call the police and a lawyer. They threatened aand assaulted my partner. Then after they told us our stuff may take 2-3 weeks to arrive after promising it would show up tomorrow. Once you give them your stuff, good luck getting ahold of anyone. WORST MOVERS EVER.

  • EL-pro

If there is zero start I will give them. Never use this guys, they are scam once they pick up your stuff. They will find all means to increase the initial agreed cost. And will hold you hostage once they pick up your items, whatever amount they tell you , you most pay. I used them kast year 2021 December it was hell. I have to report their fraudulent behavior to authorities and will follow up.

  • Karla Terrazas

I wish I read all these before having the worst experience with this company. If you can call it company. I’m not going to write all the situation but, I will strongly recommend that to avoid them as much as you can. By the end you will be so tired of complaining that you will leave it. Waste of time, money and peace for your belongings. Lowina what can I say that you do not know already.

  • Manjot Rayat

Dont get stuck with them...Anna one of the rudest person i had ever seen..zero customer service..only thing she know is yelling..so much mess up and misunderstanding she creates...i wish there was a negative star to give her..and with delivery people they were so unexperienced, they scratched my walls, they broke my stuff and nobody is willing to take responsibility..

  • Omar Herzalla

They lost some of our stuff and furniture etc arrived damaged. I reached out to them regarding all this and they stated I email them the lost contents and damages. Over a month later and I'm hearing crickets. They are ignoring my calls and emails. Nothing but a bunch of thieves and scammers. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. Definitely regretting going with these clowns.

  • Kellee Duff

The movers were great, awesome and hardworking. Damaged 2 items, and 2 glasses broke Last over the phone is less desirable to deal with. Very argumentative Extremely rude. Talks over everything you say, and snaps very quickly Impatient towards seniors, I would deal with the actual mover again, but not the Asian lady on the phone

  • David Sothern

DO NOT USE. Caused over a thousand dollars in damages, even after paying a special handling fee of $550 for a vintage motorcycle. Gouges and tears in leather seats and paint, broken furniture, and torn boxes. Their insurance company straight up ignored us even when provided with before and after pictures.

  • Thi Thanh Vân Đinh

This is a terrible company. They are a scam one that took my furniture in a rude and unprofessional way, then eventually appropriate it. Lets get away from this company and hope that the enforcement agency will have appropriate actions to stop this company from operating to keep cheating customers.

  • Rajpreet Grewal

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. They packed all my stuff like lawn cutter and snow blower. They miss placed all the screws and my both machines are garbage now. Can find exact screws to adjust. I have to buy new machines now. Another 10k just because of these stupid people. Please avoid.

  • Julie Murphy

scratched a lot of furniture and broke a dresser. Not worth it. They'll give you a good quote at the time to get the job but a lot of extra charges at the end when you pay the rest of the bill. Esham was great - helped us out a lot that day.

  • stu mair

Absolutely terrible. 3hrs late. Incompetent. Lazy. Slow. Driver smashed our car in our drive way. Broke/dented furniture. This company deserves less than zero stars. I hope you go out of business so that nobody ever depending on a mover has

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! When I booked in to move, they “misplaced” my booking. I booked specific times for them to come by and pick up my stuff, they didn’t show up until 9:00 pm for pick up. The following day for drop off they didn’t

Over 70% of our furniture was destroyed. When I say destroyed I mean brutally damaged. Custom pieces that where in contract were agreed to be wrapped and delivered in blankets were sadly abused and left bare. It looks like our families

  • Mishel Kendall

Company overcharged us by 500$, came 4 days early with no notice. And broke a full shelf. If I could give less than one star I would. Avoid using. Their dispatcher pretends to be nice, then gets irate if there is any discrepancy.

This lousy moving outfit is the opposite of professional. They parked in front of my apartments entry & exit for underground parking so nobody could Move their car in or out. They ignored requests to move and emptied the entire

  • Jagz Grewal

THINK Twice before you book them. Once I handed my draft to the mover guy on delivery. Anna turned phone off. My assembling was included. But they left all stuff on the floor. Half of my assembling stuff was missing.

  • D. P

This company is unethical and untrustworthy. Never trust Anna or Lowina. You will regret contracting them if you do. They will not stick to their own contract and will make your move stressful.

  • Jeff Caron

Horrible. Not sure how this company is still in business. Based on the experience my family has had with this company and all of the crazy reviews it is a wonder they are still operating.

WORST MOVING COMPANY!!! DO NOT USE THESE SCAMMERS!!! Lost and stolen items is their normal conduct. Check out Global Calgary Aug 30/22 broadcast; scamming and stealing for years!!! 0 ⭐️
