Whenever I'm lazy and need to get something up for a party, I always make my way to Montmartre Bakery to pick up their strudels since it's always a hit. Everything here is made fresh daily and since it's a wholesaler, the prices are incredibly cheap. Strudels come in flavours like apple ($5.50), cherry ($6.10) and blueberry ($6.50) and are TWO FEET LONG!!! I usually choose to get half a strudel (for half the price of course) so I can get more than one flavour. The strudels are nice and flakey and I'll usually get it topped off with icing sugar if I'm heading straight to the party afterwards. This time I got the cherry and blueberry strudels. The cherry has a nice tart flavour and the blueberry is packed with tonnes of fresh blueberries and jam. Show up with these babies and you'll be bound to be asked where these magical pastries came from. I would also recommend grabbing a few apple turnovers (only $1) if you're there! They are divine. The pastry is light and flakey and packed with thick pieces of warm, tender spiced apples in the filling. And best of all, the top of the turnover is sprinkled with coarse cinnamon sugar giving it a delicious crunch. The fresh pretzels are also a good option at 95¢ each, I usually pick up at least 3-4... Soft & chewy with just the right amount of kosher salt. I'll be honest, it was a bit of a carb overload but every bite was absolutely delicious. Danish are a steal at $1.00 each - they are HUGE. Made fresh daily, the pastry is light and flaky and drizzled with icing. The blueberry danish had a bold flavour and I love that you can even pick out little pieces of fresh blueberries in the fruit filling. The apricot custard was my favourite though. There was a pretty large piece of apricot wrapped in the pastry and the creamy custard really brought the fruit and pastry together well. Be forwarned that this is not a fancy bakery where you can sit down and eat - definitely takeout only. And I would also recommend to go early as almost all the shelves will be cleared out if you go during the last hour of operation.

Montmartre Bakery in Scarborough is a hidden gem that offers a delightful French bakery experience. From the moment you step into the bakery, you are greeted with the aroma of freshly baked pastries and breads. The bakery has a cozy and rustic atmosphere that is perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee and a pastry. The bakery's selection of pastries is impressive and includes croissants, pain au chocolat, éclairs, and macarons. The croissants are flaky and buttery, just like they should be. The pain au chocolat is filled with rich, melted chocolate that complements the buttery pastry perfectly. The éclairs are filled with creamy custard and topped with a chocolate glaze that is just the right amount of sweetness. The macarons are delicate and come in a variety of flavors, including raspberry, chocolate, and vanilla. Montmartre Bakery also offers a variety of bread, including baguettes, sourdough, and rye bread. All of the bread is freshly baked and has a crusty exterior and a soft interior. The baguette is perfect for making a sandwich or enjoying with a bowl of soup. The sourdough has a tangy flavor that pairs well with cheese and charcuterie. The rye bread is hearty and flavorful, perfect for making toast. The service at Montmartre Bakery is friendly and welcoming. The staff is knowledgeable about the bakery's products and is happy to make recommendations. The bakery also has a small seating area where you can enjoy your pastry and coffee. Overall, Montmartre Bakery in Scarborough is a must-visit for anyone who loves French pastries and bread. The bakery's selection of pastries and bread is top-notch, and the cozy atmosphere makes it the perfect spot to relax and indulge in a sweet treat. The bakery's friendly service and reasonable prices make it an excellent value for money. I highly recommend Montmartre Bakery for anyone looking for a delicious and authentic French bakery experience.

Classic bakery, classic tastes, classic pricing and so outstanding! Love this old school style of bakery. Reminds me of when I was a kid going to these bakeries with my mom to pick up fresh bread and treats. They don’t have a large selection of pastries, but what they do offer, it’s so tasty! Got some danishes and the pastry was so soft. The fillings were just the right amount of thickness. Smooth but not overbearing. Also got some cookies. Although they are basic crunchy chocolate chip cookies, I was addicted and almost finished the entire bag! Also got a fresh loaf of bread, which was so soft and delicate to the touch but still keeping the dense form Service was amazing! Super friendly, never rushed me to choose and went through all the pastries in the showcase. and when I made a decision and changed my mind halfway, helped me without hesitation. The one thing I have to do now is go back and try their strudel! Oh, and get some pizza dough too! Great job overall! So awesome to see a bakery like this from my childhood still exist! I've come to this bakery every so often, it's tucked in and a little hidden but IYKYK. I always have the intention of just buying 1 thing, usually the pretzels (my hubby loves them) and the danishes - but when you go in, I don't know what kind of bizarre spell takes over me, maybe the freshly baked bread smell, the butter, the friendly staff that upsell you saying if you buy 6 danishes no tax... $45 later Ive bought the entire store practicially. One of the few places that makes a lemon danish. Cherry custard danish, their pies, strudels are delicious, heck buy all of them. My kids inhale the croissants from here. We just love this place! Rosemary is also a delight to deal with!

I've beem coming to this bakery for years. I dealt with many customer service representatives at the pastry counter, none have ever provided the service quality as Rosemary does. She is the best and please trust me this comes from a very picky customer. I don't like my croissants to be squished as they will end up if you pack it in a bad either plastic or paper so several years ago Rosemary suggested using a pastry carton box. Yes I pay the additional cost of the box but my croissants will look like just came out from the over even after a few days. She packs the croissants so carefully to maximize the space while the croissants remain perfect shaped. Thank you Ms. Rosemary!

My husband’s uncle told us about this place. The best place to get fresh baguettes and many other types of breads and pastries. You can even get uncooked puffed pastry here to fill and make ur own pastries! They also have uncooked pizza dough! Unlike other bakeries, if we buy a baguette here and can’t finish it the first day, it lasts up to three days without getting hard or stale as long as you keep it wrapped up well. It’s always busy and there are line ups. Make sure you come early in the day or you will not get what you came for! They sell out quickly. Parking is at the back and one way.

I come here religiously for my bread, pastries. Everyone working here is super sweet and hard working. Montmartre bakery is a gem, once you’ve been here once, you’ll know it’s a place to visit again and again. Everything is fresh and baked daily so you KNOW your getting good quality items. Super friendly and helpful staff. And when you see other customers come inside and are greeted as family , you know they have been coming here often. This is a sign of a established business for the community Highly highly recommended. & If you didn’t know, now you know.

This European-inspired bakery has been around since the 1960’s! They make old-school breads, pastries, pies, and pastries. When I’m in the area, I pick up their whole wheat hamburger buns, rolls, cinnamon rolls, and Bienenstich (German Bee Sting cake). The first time I had this cake, I thought, wow, this is amazing. The next few times I bought it, there were inconsistencies, so I haven’t purchased it again. I usually speak with Rose Mary, who is absolutely engaging and super friendly!

This bakery has it all! From wonderful muffins to melt in your mouth pastries. My recent discovery is the spelt bread! Recommended by Rosemary, it is easy to digest and very filling. I usually have difficulty with wheat, but this spelt bread is absolutely the best! Crunchy when toasted and very easy on the gut.I urge anyone who may have wheat sensitivities to give this lovely spelt bread a try! Rosemary is very knowledgeable and has fantastic customer service! This bakery is a gem!

European style bakery , a factory where you can find lots of breads , buns , and rolls. But I go there for the strudel , so very good. Get the whole strudel , because if you only buy the half and it finishes quickly , you think I should have gotten the whole one! My favorite is the cherry . All the flavors are good. Very good danishes as well. Go earlier because they sell out. Never disappointed with the products from here . Only when I am too late to get what I came for .

Unique fresh baked products. Danish's run out quickly so you have to be there early in the day. Good assortment of bread from plain to multigrain. Coconut cookies are great. The seven grain baguettes are very good too. Great value for the quality and taste of the products. The picture shows the apple pie ($5.50), 7 grain sliced bread loaf ($3.75 for large), large sesame seed bagel and plain bagel ($0.50 each), pretzels ($0.95).

First time visiting here on a recommendation from a friend. Bright and spacious public area. Lots of varieties of fresh baked breads, pies and cookies. We were mid afternoon which, like all bakeries, means low stock but I did get the famous "macaroons" and light rye bread (both delicious). Staff were very friendly and check out was efficient. Ample parking at the rear of bakery. Price was excellent. I highly recommend.

It’s a pleasure to meet Rose Mary she’s nice and friendly lady. She accommodate all the guest demand and give the guests satisfied. All bakes that I bought today are amazing. Staff are amazing we will be back and I will recommend this to all my friends ❤️

I’ve been coming to this bakery for over 22 years, and I have never once been disappointed. The staff are amazing and friendly, and the baked goods are delicious. I usually get danishes, strudels, and cookies, and they always hit the spot. Prices are fair, and they offer so much variety. I couldn’t recommend this place enough.

I was in the neighbourhood and found great review of this bakery. The previous reviews are all true. Unpretentious bakery with excellent pastries. Brought home assorted danishes and apple strudels - fluffy, not oily at all...most importantly, with real fruit inside the danishes. Thank you! Definitely will come back.

Best croissants and Danish pastries in Toronto. Also the puff pastry dough. Rosemary is especially efficient, friendly and very professional. A smiling, helpful and kind face is a bonus when you have waited for a bit to get served. There's always a lineup, but moves fast. Go early before everything finishes!

Bought a peach pie and a strudel at a popular Market - absolutely amazing. Through a strange sequence of events my wife discovered that they were made here! And for a lot less! We’ve been here a few times since for Danishes, pies and baguettes. All excellent.

Delicious and fresh pastries and bread! The staff is friendly and helpful and the prices are very reasonable as well. They have the best danishes! I would highly recommend trying the Cherry Custard Danish, Cinnamon Bun and Roasted Red Pepper Focaccia Bread

  • Jonathan Tepper

The croissant (the best in city imo) tastes like butter, crispy, and so light tasting. The other favourites are their fruit and cinnamon pastries. The dough is so good and it does skimp on the fruit! If the place is busy prepare to wait

Would give this place 10 stars if I could! My boyfriend and I commute from Etobicoke to come here. Their pretzels are our favourite + Rosemary is such a gem. Highly recommend if you're ever in Scarborough

Quality control has gone downhill! Plum cake was raw and doughy inside. Apricot custard danish had one small apricot in the entire danish and pulled a hair out of the flax bread. So disappointed! …
