THE PLACE for REAL country music in Nashville, TN! The bar is away from all the glitter and glamour of Broadway in downtown, giving room for the real sounds that made Nashville what it is, or should I say, what it was! Folks, you'll not hear any bro country here. You'll not deal with teenage drunks requesting Wagon Wheel or Sweet Home Alabama for the 50th time, you'll find an atmosphere of friendly people enjoying drinks, music, and just having an all around good time! My wife and I visited here on 12/28 and 12/29. It is located in a small shopping mall area behind a few restaurants and hotels but it is well worth the visit! Our first night we arrived as the Vince Moreno Band was setting up, and when they started, man what a show. Vince had Tom Killen, steel guitar player for 30 years with George Jones, playing with him, along with the fiddle player for Mark Chesnutt. We didn't notice til about an hour into their set when a man jumped up from a couple tables in front of us and went on stage... and it was Collin Raye who sang some of his hit songs like "Love, Me" and several Merle Haggard songs! The bartender, Dillon, was great and he remembered what we were drinking, all I did was make eye contact, nod my head, from our table close to the bar, and here he came! Dillon is as deserving of a good tip as much as the bands! For ANYONE who wants to hear the sounds of the Hag, the Possom, Cash, Waylon, Willie, Whitley, you name it... then DO NOT miss this place! Thank you guys for keeping real country music alive! We will be returning real soon!

Stopped in at this bar for drinks and music, sit in a both for 30 + minutes, in between songs I finally had to ask from across the room to the bartender and asked if we were going to get waited on or did we need to come to the bar to order, he replied I'm the only one here. I got up to leave and replied it would hv been nice for him to communicate to people coming in before they sit there for an half hour that he don't wait tables,on our way out he said by, This is the reason the bar is empty,.BAD BUSINESS. SCOREBOARD BAR PACKED FOR GOOD REASON GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, IM FILLING THE REVEIW AT NASHVILLE PALACE ALSO PACKED AND HAD OUR DRINKS IN 2 MINUTES, WONT EVER GO BACK TO THIS BAR,,,,4/30/2023,,,,Bottom line with only 5 people sitting at the bar maybe 4 he could bring us a beer, nobody else in the bar but the 5 guys at the bar and he was the only one working was his answer to the reason he couldn't bring us a beer, and on our way out the door he shouts out BY , I live here iv been in this bar several times and have had a great time. But it don't take but 1 time to loose my business,

Anyone can play here, you do not have to have any musical talent or know anything about sound to play here. Most musicians that play here are tone death. Also, Look out for the Bartenders here, you might get threatened or feel threatened by them. They do play Classic Country but not any Rock N Roll Music. Prepare yourself with some ear plugs, not a bad place to drink or eat with a good Country settings and feel to the place. Just beware of the music and the way it sounds. It could only be my opinion, If it is, everyone could be tone death going to this place so you might like everything about this place. As for me, Every Drummer sucks, only one person plays the Keys here, The Acoustic Guitar Players and Singers need lessons, there are not any solid Bass Players that play here, The Steel Guitar players are decent, only 3 lead Guitar players are good and only one is great for his age but because they live and grew up in Nashville. If you have a young musician that is eager to learn how to play music in the family, Nashville is a good place to raise them.

First time stopping by, Nashville Native. Myself and coworker stopped in after our shift downtown. Was nice to see people dancing(since you can't see that on Broadway)and the energy was good. However, we just wanted to sit and grab a bite to eat listen to music. We sat down first impression the bar itself was not clean, the bartender took our food order, another came took drink order. They were both friendly, however my co-workers order came, mine never did. Yes it was late, however my order took 30 additional minutes. Because they forgot. The fries were good, onion rings Good. Burger was definitely a frozen patty. Go for the music not the food. The staff were all busy, or smoking outside, what seemed to be manager/owner was actually drinking beer behind the bar, while taking money from the register. Definitely a dive bar, but the music and dancing were great. Take cash to the tip the band when the bucket comes around

My BFF and I take a road trip 3-4 times a year and always frequent this place at least 80% of the time we are in Nashville. The music, entertainment, staff, and in general are awesome! The owner and staff are incredibly kind. I’m all about having fun but, I have only one issue…the end of the bar by the stage (and hall to the restrooms) are always blocked by inconsiderate locals that get offended if you ask them to move so you can go to the bathroom! They seem to climb on the stage, and stand/dance in the walkway. This is the way it always is. I don’t mind too much until one of them follow you to the bathroom to threaten you for suggesting they dance on the dance floor! You never know who will pop in. (Rhona Vincent, Jimmy Fortune, and others). Even though, I’ll always return for the music and service! Suggestion…take out the trash at the “hoochie corner” and it would be perfect! That’s the missing 5th star. Lol

  • Nancy Baugus

Our waitor was horribly rude! Never had anyone worse. Got there b4 6pm, Sat in back so we wouldn't take up space for the dancers and partiers. Waiter must have been upset he was assigned our area. Got pissed cause we asked for a knife... Had to ask 3 times. Immediately gave us our tab and refused to give us any kind of service again. Our companions paid cash for their tab which was more than the bill, and he never offered change. The hot dog dish was served barely luke warm. Tried to ask for help on that and waitor totally ignored us. Couldn't even get him to respond when we wanted another drink. Need to fire that jerk.

The server was super sweet, but the service was probably the worst I’ve ever experienced. We waited over 20 minutes to order food & decided to just leave rather than wait any longer. We also had a drink tab open and after deciding we were just going to leave, we waited 15+ minutes just to close our drink tab (two drinks). There was only one bartender and one server and although there was a decent crowd, I felt like others who arrived after us were prioritized. The menu was also very limited and not overly appealing. The live music was pretty cool, but overall I wouldn’t recommend this place.

My twin sister and I traveled from Memphis to Nashville for a work convention. On Oct 24 we went to this establishment and I ordered a margarita at the bar and a amaretto sour. Both drinks were fizzy so that was the first off putting thing then I saw the price I paid. 11.33 for a margarita that was fizzy and a 9.27 amaretto sour that was also fizzy. Loaded with soda water. Is this a way of getting more profit. Because I will never be back. It was awful. The music and atmosphere on the other hand was great

My husband and his friend ordered Gentleman Jack on rocks and got scotch. We disputed and they argued it was Jack. Now they are Jack drinkers and I am a scotch drinker and a 30y bartender. It was scotch. They called bouncer over and we were asked to leave. It was my husband's 60th birthday. Really??? Great night, thanks for the nasty treatment. Left and went to Nashville Palace where they done us right! Although they did have some Great entertainment and the singer was awesome! Waitresses and bartender were absolutely rude. Sad. Stick to Nashville Palace. Friendly staff, great entertainment.

Good times and great music. I love the old country and the bands are the best in the business. If you want to dance , eat the best bar food in town and meet great people from the Nashville area this is where you need to be! It will give you the good ole country music experience that you came to Nashville for. Hope to see you there! No I don’t work for them lol

This place was okay. I went because a friend was doing a showcase. I certainly enjoyed her music. But she mentioned how poorly the equipment was set up and it was not really conducive. The wait staff was almost non-existent, you had to go to the bar to get your own drinks, they couldn't order food because the chef hadn't arrived yet, eventually they did come in and my friends had food which they seem to enjoy, I didn't have any. I probably wouldn't go again unless someone else is singing there that I know. But it was okay.

  • amy king

We liked this place four years ago, so we went back this trip and were SO DISAPPOINTED. The service was AWFUL (slow, rude and completely inattentive). We were there on a Thursday evening and our pregnant server was one of the worst we've experienced in Nashville. We also purchased THEIR voucher from Yelp, which they then refused to honor. If you're thinking of going here, just turn around & go across the parking lot to The Scoreboard where there is great food, excellent service and wonderful bands!

  • Ellen Johnson

I was dancing, mind you it wasn't two-stepping, but I was dancing. The regulars started slamming into me instead of politely asking for more room and when I stood my ground they went to security and had me removed from the floor. I said I WAS dancing, but was told he was "just doing his job". The fact that I was not treated like any other customer who was there to enjoy the music is ridiculous. That couple who was so rude and had to wine to the security left the dance floor shortly after.

  • Rose Talley

We walked in there tonight, our first to be able to go to a place like this, Noone even greeted us at all. Sat there about 10 minutes, the singer started using the "F" word so we got up and as we were leaving, the singer from the band said and I quote: "thanks for nothing". Went across over the Nashville Palace, it was completely different. The bar tender was very friendly, the food was delicious and the singer was a lot better. Music City Bar & Grill needs to take lessons.

  • Lois Helland

Located in Music Valley. We loved finding another place with classic (old style) country music. Every band we heard was excellent. The house band is terrific. We went back a second night just to hear them. The only food we had was a pizza, and it was very good. It was fun to be kissed by Luna, too!

Traveling through Nashville I needed to find a restaurant open after hours and chose MCBG because of their late night open kitchen service. The Nash IPA was great, Hangover Burger was absolutely delicious, and the french fries that came with the burger were just as tasty. The live band playing the night I visited was entertaining and really gave this venue a true sense of Nashville.

Best bar we went to in Nashville to listen to classic country music. We loved hearing all the old classics. Vince Moreno played every night we went and he was great fun to watch. Alex was an awesome bartender and even saw the owner Rodney play some. We kept coming back after a day/ evening of doing touristy stuff to hang out there. We will definitely be back.

In Nashville for work and I randomly picked this place off the google. Glad I did, there was a great local band playing and the atmosphere was so familial and friendly. I didn’t know a soul there, as I was visiting from Brooklyn, and everyone treated me like an old friend. And this was true for everyone that was coming in from out of town. Come here and enjoy the cheap drinks and atmosphere, you will not regret it. And get the wings!

  • Chris Burkhardt

Great little bar and grill to listen to old country music! The food is great, the service is great, and the band is great. It's relatively small and gets a little crowded after the band starts playing, so if you want a table, get there before 6.

We were staying in the area and wanted a late night beverage. We happened to come here. We were in Nashville for 5 nights and we finished each day here. Excellent service each night. Special thanks to Amy, or bartender most nights. A dark, smokey, live country music dive. The food was way above par for bar food and the adult beverage prices were reasonable. Love it! We will be back, each night, our next visit.

Been visiting the city for about 6 years and really like going to non downtown locals places. Drinks are pricey and the 6-9 act was perfect for a small (4 people) crowd. Stayed for 1 drink and left. Smoking also allowed so it was a turnoff for me. Reccomend the Nashville Palace if you're on that area but many many more places around town for decent music and drinks.

  • Kendrick McNulty

A local told my wife and I about this place. We followed she and her husband there. They got there before us and told the band we were celebrating our 56th wedding anniversary. When we got there the band congratulated us and played a slow country love song for us to dance to. We spent several hours there listening to the good old country music. A great place.

Read the reviews before heading over to MCBG and they proved right on! The band was really good and people seemed to be really enjoying themselves. Cool memorabilia throughout the whole place. The staff was friendly and the band made it really fun. It was loud but live music is supposed to be loud, right? I would surely disregard any bad reviews and go!

  • gary Rich

The band Friday night was great until 9;30.The band at 10 was good. Saturday night the band was entirely too loud. I mentioned it to someone in the band I think this was around 12 or 1 AM. It is not necessary to play music that loud and a lot of older people go there and older people have money.

If I'm ever back this way; this is a must to stop at!!! You will not go wrong. But remember if your not God or Waylon(hope I spelled it right) tip the band!!!

No matter how busy the bartenders were, they always acknowledged their guests. Live music was great! Food was delicious! Overall best service we had in Nashville! We got to meet Mel Tillis Jr and Ernie! Ernie will take you back and forth between Music City and Troubadour bars with his golf cart so you can "bar hop".

  • Robin Little

Music was amazing! If you go, go for the music! The drinks are also good, they should change the name to Music City Bar and just drop the Grill because they had little to no food. Plenty of places walking distance to eat though and then just go back to bar to listen and/or dance! Fun atmosphere, great night out!

Classic Nashville Honky Tonk, cold beer and great music. Not much else to say. The early afternoon weekend crowds tend to lean more older folks and less is rowdy than at night. Come for the music and boozes, not the food. The food is just so so, the burger is tasty only after a few cold ones.

Tons of the old country music played in these Music Valley bars and restaurants. The District is good but this is so much more then the new country mucus, you can hear great music here. Head on over and party! I will be back.

What a great local place! The entertainment and atmosphere was so refreshing and laid backwards . The wings were great and the artists they have in there are amazing. Definitely made me feel like I was back home in the south.

BEST bar tender in Nashville, ALEX ROWE!!! She is the real deal! Knowledgeable in her craft. She deserves a raise! The music is wonderfully authentic, comfortable inside, clean bathrooms! Even a billard table!

  • Corey Arbourgh

Great location off the norm. Went to see an artist we have been following and the one bartender handled the entire crowd by himself and didn't miss a beat.

Wow, very nice place for a drink and listen to great live music. Good Ol’ fashion country music from the good ole days. Even had a well known singer in the house. Doesn’t get better than that!

Atmosphere was great and good live music! Food and beer choices are limited. If you like simple burger and bud light then this place is for you. Otherwise, average.

Just spent the week in Nashville and this place by far made our trip! We were there everyday! Nicest people and great bands playing that old school country.
