Utterly disgraceful, discriminatory and derogatory behaviour from the manager at the Leicester Highcross Nando's! I had travelled up to Leicester from Peterborough (50 miles) to have a catch up with a friend from Uni and we decided to go to Nando's. We arrived and sat on a table next to a young family (a mother and daughter) who had ordered a platter. Whilst waiting we had overheard the mothers disgust when she found a hair in her food (which was untouched - a spoonful out of her mash at most). We were disturbed to hear the unpleasant surprise in her food. The lady called a worker passing by who was coincidently the manager 'Jevey' - this was the name derived from the managers poor handwriting. The lady voiced what she had discovered sticking out of her chicken and the manager without hesitation (with no gloves on) hand picked the hair (which was short and easily resonated the length of a beard hair) out of her food and took it into the kitchen and returned. We was horrified to see the indecent actions of the manager. He returned and accused the lady of it being her hair in the food. The lady had extremely long hair and was tied back in a pony tail and thus it was irrational to accuse the lady. She (primarily) politely declined the insulting accusation and explained that he had taken the hair away so she couldn't explain (in any way) other than describing that the hair wasn't hers. The lady requested that the platter be replaced and the manager refused and said he would change the chicken only. The chicken was on the plate and had been in cross-contamination with other components on the plate. The customer (who had paid) explained that this wasn't her fault, the food hadn't been eaten, she works for the NHS and is pregnant and that the hair in her food extends to a wider compliance, hygiene and health issue. I have worked in hospitality for 2 years and was responsible to enforce the due diligence and compliance aspects of hospitality were adhered to by my team. Hair in food is an obvious failure in the kitchen to ensuring hairnets/beard-nets or having hair tied back (as a minimum) to mitigate these events from occurring as highlighted under the Food Standards Agency (2018). The manager was rude, ignored her concerns and refuted her entirely from a new platter and when the customer asked for a refund this was refused also. I explained to the manager that his ignorance and mismanagement of the issue was poor and that the lady became victim to something we had witnessed to be no fault of her own. Her daughter became very uneasy and distressed throughout this exchange. He silenced me and told me he would 'deal with me afterwards' and told the lady that she could complain to customer services and she left. He came over to our table and claimed 'it is a commonality to find members of the traveller community come in and purposely put their hair into food in order to cheat the system and get replacements' - little did he know, the girl I was dining with was part of this community & she was insulted by his comments. He had no remorse in his comments even though we had highlighted how he discriminated a whole community, assumed the ladies race, which should be protected from discrimination and prejudice such as this, under the Human Rights Act (1998). He showed no remorse and failed to answer, when my friend asked whether he expected her to do the same as she was part of the same community he had no response. This is appalling and horrific service. Individuals like this do not deserve to work in hospitality environments if they fail to adhere to basic compliance. I proceeded with my outrage and the manager walked off and when I followed and demanded complaint details he handed me a number which was invalid. I expect a response and to be contacted with regards to this issue. Any failure to adequately handle this, I should raise this to the relevant local authorities and food/health trading standards.

Another day another eat out in Leicester, wanted to try somewhere to eat other than London Road. So headed over to the other side of Leicester city centre. For me its been a long time that I’ve been at a Nando's, so I forgotten how it all works in Nandos. Went inside, a friendly and helpful staff member approached me. I explained to him that I’ve been in a Nando's before but I forgot the ordering process. The kind staff member explained to me how the ordering process works and he went above and beyond to help me out. After this he took me to my table, he presented with me the Main menu and drinks menu. I went for the four boneless chicken thighs this comes with two sides, I chose chips and flavoured rice both of these were regular portions. And regards to the drinks I chose the bottomless option, as per my favourite the classic coke. The food was to be expected between fine to good quality. However the four boneless chicken thighs, were only the front part of the thigh and not the other parts of meat, which I found this not value for money. Maybe I was better off ordering the ½ chicken. My experience here at Nando’s is a good one, but you may need steep pockets when purchasing their food.

Today my partner and I went to nandos highcross for lunch around 2pm. Having previously worked there myself many many years ago I was absolutely shocked to see how the standards have slipped. We entered and were waiting a minute whilst 3 staff about 6 feet away were finishing their conversation and discussing who should be seating us then someone came upto us rolling her eyes. When I went up to order I was again waiting at the till and a chap who was by the front door was chatting away and looked at me and waited before coming to the till area He asked if I had any food allergies and I said none to worry about today. To this he demanded an explanation of my allergies to which I replied orange and grapefruit. He didn't ask if I had a loyalty card. I ordered a starter with the order and that came out with the meal. Food was great as usual though . We didn't get a check back or have the tables clear. The restaurant was reasonably busy but looked like they had enough staff on. When we left we walked past 3 staff and didn't get a "thank you, bye" as we left. There was a male by the door and I said thank you to which he shrugged his shoulders. This is the first time I have experienced this and contemplating returning to nandos highcross again, a place I was and still proud to say I worked for.

The portion sizes were a lot smaller than they are in other branches I’ve been to. Maybe the cost of living crisis is kicking in but the prices are still the same. The quality of the food was fine, no complaints there. The classic coke syrup ran out on both drinks dispensers shortly after we first used them, I alerted a member of staff who assured me she would sort it but all she did was put an out of order label over the two coke classic options on the machines. She never said another word to us either. Our drinks weren’t so “bottomless” after that. They also had no napkins so everyone had to use the paper towels from the hand washing station instead. A staff member apologised and said that they have been struggling to get supplies of certain things lately. Overall they need to improve things quite a lot in this particular branch of Nando’s, it’s failing on several levels to get some of the basics right.

Absolutely ridiculous. I think this has been the worst branch I’ve ever visited in the world !! An absolute mess why have I waited almost 40 minutes for my order while it’s been sat on the Passover. I’ve witnessed staff flirting and gossiping amongst themselves. Why is the food just piling up on the Passover. Once we got up we asked for the refund, why are the staff even hesitating to go to the managers office. Then chefs are coming to us and trying to negotiate for the food to be remade? I’ve already wasted my time why would I want to sit here in awkwardness and eat food I don’t want anymore. Genuinely ridiculous. Absolute waste of time will never visit again and I absolutely do not recommend.

Pathetic service; the managers are the laziest I’ve ever seen. No sense of hustle or leadership. Waited 45mins to be told our food was ready, and was ready almost the entire time and had just sat on the heated pass. Had to speak to 5x different crew members just to get the manager to finally come out of her office, and she still tried to offer us the cold food, and reluctantly issued us our refund. Absolute mess. This is the 2nd time in a week I’ve had poor service like this, the previous time I waited 30mins just to not even get served, and was walked past by 3x different crew members that served other people. When I asked if I could be served he told me to go and take a seat and just be patient.

We always go to Nandos around the country so long as they are halal. The service in this Nando's was excellent, staff were extremely friendly checking in on the tables making sure everyone was okay. In terms of the food, it was delicious, very generous sized portions compared to London and overall tastier! We had the loaded fries for the first time, they were out of the world! Definitely one of the best Nando's I've ever visited!

Love Nandos! I am a chicken guy myself, so I always enjoy anywhere I can get really nice and spicy chicken. I got the family platter, and it had this really nice 2 whole chickens and large side dishes. I and my crew were really hungry, lol, so the side wasn't enough for us, so I mentioned it to the guy serving us food. To my surprise, he gave me a free regular side, and that made my day. Never had such happen to me before. Besides, the ambience was really cool, the staff are professional and friendly and I had a nice time there. Nice place to take family and really kids friendly too.

I can only give a rating on this dependant on how much I experienced and since I didn't eat here, I can only comment on the sizeable queue which we had to wait in. We were about 3rd in the queue when we got there and then another 2 or 3 people came in after us and nobody came to deal with the mounting queue of customers. The restaurant also wasn't that busy, so why nobody was on the door I don't know. In the end, we ended up leaving and eating elsewhere. I feel slightly unfair leaving this review as I didn't eat here, so I don't feel like it's a rounded review on anything other than customer service. But I do personally feel that such a high number of customers shouldn't be left waiting for ages.

There was a 20 min wait for a table as expected as this is popular even on a Sunday. We were seated on the table next to the door and was so cold I had to keep my jacket on while eating. The table infront of us spent more time eating each other than they did their food, and couldn't belive it when the young man did come up for air started vaping at the table. Most of the staff were polite and friendly, but one staff member made it clear he wanted us to go as soon as possible because he kept asking if he could clear our table even though there was food on our plates and we were still eating. But the chicken was good.

The food was great, the restaurant was nice and the service was good for the most part, the staff were friendly however we asked for mayonnaise as the food arrived and the waitress was very rude stating that they had run out. 5 mins later the table next to us has their food arrive and they also asked for mayonnaise and the waitress went off and came back 2 minutes later with some mayonnaise. Aisha the waitresses was rude. When she gave me and my partner our food she didn’t say anything and just gave it. Plus she forgot the sharing loaded chips. Visited this nandos for the first time. Ate it after many years, but the food has remained the same. Fresh and tasty! Service was also quite fast. Had a work get together and turned up last minute on a Friday eve with 10 people and they accommodated. The environment was relaxed and comfortable. I had the grilled chicken burger with haloumi and and pineapple with peri chips and it didn't dissapoint. Drinks are bottomless so it's a plus. Would like to try the frozen yogurt next time.

Absolutely incredible. The food was unbelievably excellent, the tables and seating were clean and comfortable, and the staff was as kind and welcoming as the playful decor. I ordered the limited maple & orange sunset burger with spicy rice and macho peas, and was fully delighted and satisfied. The medium sauce was delicious, too. ✨️

Nandos has always been popular but I’ve never actually tried it... so I came here to try it for the first time. I must admit, it’s rather nice, and the staff was incredibly nice and kind. I mean the food was good, no complaints here. Totally lived up to the hype. In fact, I actually accidentally forgot my debit card here. Partner had to send her chicken breast in a pitta back it arrived cold, it was replaced quickly though and the server was very apologetic - decent location just round the corner from John Lewis and close to the Showcase cinema, my only gripe is it was 40 quid for 2 meals! Visited today but unfortunately the AC Was not functioning. It was absolutely blazing hot inside the premises. I really felt it for the staff having to work in the conditions of 35-/ 38 degrees. Overall experience very poor. No bottled water available, starter took 40 minutes to arrive, frozen yogurt machine was empty and cut my finger on a sharp piece of stainless steel when getting a hand towel. Highly disappointed! I have eaten there once, definitely last one! £30 for two pieces of chicken with sauces burn your mouth is too much! You have to order on your own online, collect cutlery, tissues and sauces on your own. Good you don't have to wash the dishes after.. Nandos is too fancy but nothing special there..

The food I got when I ordered wasn't great. The chicken didn't have the charred look or taste associated with Nando's. Also, the skin wasn't crispy. The sides of garlic bread and peas were the best part of the meal. The carrot cake tasted so artificial. Definitely, won't order the carrot cake again.

Really disappointing, soulless experience. Interaction with staff was minimal. We were taken to a table where we ordered and paid by app. The food was delivered and we ate. Then left. No atmosphere. May as well have used a vending machine.

My first Nando's experience: a great menu with a variety of vegetarian options. All of the staff are really friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Zanzibar, Emerson and Caitlin! :) I will be back for sure!

Absolutely amazing, the sunset burger is filled with succulent and enticing flavour with spice. Absolutely loved it as the best part of the meal. The peri salted chips were also good and weren't too salty.

Good food and fast service. Make sure to check your portion sizes. Someone ordered a butterfly chicken burger, to find the chicken inside practically the same size as a single chicken breast. They changed it when we complained, but this couldn't have happened in the first place.

Yoghurt Machine wasn't working and seats were a bit dirty with food, they need to clean the place better. Food was good (standard Nando's).

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Nandos Highcross location. I had the medium spicy half chicken, with tender stem broccoli & spicy rice and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were very helpful and attentive. I will definitely visit again.

Celebrated husband's birthday here. The loveliest dinner. We had the full chicken with a large side of peri salted chips. The serving size was huge. We had to bring back home about 1/4th of pur chicken. Lovely staff, lovely food

Always good food. Always busy. Decor is nice and up to date. Never had any trouble with staff. Very friendly. Right next to the cinema and casino - great for me!

Not as I always like the chicken. Just steam and bit grill and no peri spice on it and almost no flavouring. The chicken wasn't juicy enough and lacked flavour.

Chicken was a bit dry and the service wasn't really great. Doesn't appear that the place is cleaned, lots of dust on light fittings and other decorative items.

Food was great but unfortunately hygiene level not great. Toilets were filthy dirty. I mean really dirty. The floor in the restaurant was dirty with food.
