Title: A Gastronomic Journey through New Orleans: Unforgettable Flavors, Captivating Stories Review: Embarking on a New Orleans food tour led by the charismatic and knowledgeable guide, Mark, was a transcendent experience that delighted all my senses. Mark's expertise in the city's history and trivia engaged me in captivating conversations throughout the tour. Our first stop at Mahony introduced me to the heavenly Angus 'Pot Roast' Beef po' boy, dressed to perfection. Accompanied by the Mahony fish house punch, the flavors harmonized flawlessly, leaving an indelible mark on my palate. At Dat Dog, I savored the adventurous combination of Alligator Sausage with crawfish etouffee, accompanied by Pariah Brewing's refreshing Canebrake brew. This unconventional pairing exemplified the audacious spirit of New Orleans cuisine. Basin showcased the city's seafood treasures, with chargrilled oysters delivering smoky brininess, Blue Crab Beignets offering delicate bliss, and fried dill pickles providing an addictive crunch. The Athena Dream cocktail transported me into the mythic realms of New Orleans. Joey Ks revealed culinary artistry through the eggplant napoleon with fried shrimp and crawfish cream, while the red beans and rice offered comforting simplicity. The white sangria refreshed my palate, perfectly complementing the flavors. Haydels Bake Shop concluded our journey with the indulgent Doberge cake, a masterpiece of layered delights. Beyond the exceptional cuisine, Mark's guidance introduced us to the vibrant history and artistic spirit of New Orleans. The private tour of Terrance Osborne artist gallery was a highlight, allowing us to meet the artist, capture memories, purchase captivating artwork, and even win a signed print. In the spirit of the late Anthony Bourdain, this New Orleans food tour surpassed mere gastronomy. It was an immersive adventure that celebrated culture, history, and the human connection found in shared meals. I wholeheartedly recommend this five-star experience to fellow travelers seeking to explore the soul of New Orleans through its culinary treasures. Prepare to be enraptured by the flavors, stories, and infectious spirit of this remarkable city. Bon appétit!

I made a great decision while visiting NOLA and booked the Magazine Street Foodie Tour. Mark provided a tour of Magazine Street in the Garden District that included amazing food and interesting historical and cultural facts about the area. Unlike my previous NOLA food tour, this tour included only a few other participants. I say fortunately because walking around narrow NOLA streets with a large group is a pain. Our guide, Mark, has written a book regarding NOLA secrets, so he was well qualified to present the information. He also loves food and the city, so he was more than qualified to select the best restaurants in the area and to select the best dishes on their menus. We visited 5 restaurants, four restaurants serving savory dishes, and a baker serving dessert. Please beware…its a LOT of food. So come hungry. My very favorite was Joey K’s. The eggplant Napoleon was to die four. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough. On my next trip to NOLA…I will sign up for New Orleans Secrets Cocktail Tours! This tour is slightly more expensive than the one I booked last time, however, the portion size and the group size were well worth the investment. I do want to note that this tour is not in the French Quarter…probably about a 10-12 minute drive from my hotel on Bourbon St./Canal St. It was an inexpensive UBER ride over to Magazine St. I found this to be a plus, as it gave me an opportunity to sample the restaurants that the locals prefer.

Visiting New Orleans and we decided to do a food tour. I had no idea what a magical experience it would be! Mark created an experience where it felt like we were visiting an old friend who absolutely loves their city and sharing that love and joy with us. Weaved into the experience were stories and history and of course delicious food and drink. His love for New Orleans and everything about it was infectious. I had been having a hard time letting go of some things from work, just spinning around in my head, but the amazing tour was just what I needed to let it go and be in the moment and truly enjoy and experience New Orleans. We enjoyed the experience so much that we ended up booking 3 more tours with New Orleans Secrets. The Ghost tour with Ty captured our imaginations with Ty’s incredible storytelling, and the Voodoo Tour with Anderson was fascinating and eye opening, and each tour guide created the same feeling, that we were old friends. We finished up the round of tours with Mark creating once again an experience of pure joy on the Cocktail tour. I am so honored to have met these wonderful tour guides and I can’t wait to go back to New Orleans and hopefully meet the rest of the crew! Thank you so much!!!!

We took the Magazine Street Foodie tour and were blown away! It was our first foodie tour and we'll be doing them first thing when we travel to new cities! Not only was Mark a WEALTH of information on the overall history of New Orleans we got a wonderful education on the transitions of different foods in New Orleans throughout the years and how different cultures affected and changed them. It was fascinating! The food was MORE than I ever expected on a foodie tour... I expected small bites and samples of food. Mark warned us not to eat breakfast beforehand and we were still extremely full by the end of the tour! :) The food was not only amazingly delicious, it wasn't the stereotypical NoLa food you can get anywhere... this is what the locals eat and local favorites but elevated. I love that this isn't just a tour where the guide has memorized facts... Mark knows his food and it's clear the company is constantly doing research to ensure they're giving the best tour possible. They are also an AMAZING resource for recommendations for meals/cocktails/restaurants for your trip so definitely pick their brain! Can't recommend it enough!

We had an amazing experience with Cocktail Tour, Food Tour and Garden District Tour during our 4-day trip to New Orleans. Our friends had recommended Cocktail Tour and we were not disappointed! Ty, Lisa, and Dennis were fantastic guides who made us feel at home and answered all of our questions. The tours were filled with fascinating stories that left us wanting to do further research. I especially want to commend Dennis for his incredible Garden District Tour. It was one of the best tours I have ever taken! Dennis has a deep passion for New Orleans' history and culture, and he presents information in a friendly and engaging manner. We asked him many questions about NOLA, and he shared a lot of anecdotes and fun facts that added to our experience. Overall, we had a great time exploring NOLA and there is still so much to see and do. We are definitely planning to come back for a Ghost Tour and to sample more of the city's delicious food. But honestly, Dennis' tour alone is reason enough to come back!

We took a new tour (it was the 7th time it was offered) with a new tour guide, Dennis, and it was awesome. Highly recommend the French Quarter History Tour for anyone interested in history. Dennis did a fantastic job talking to us about the history of New Orleans and the French Quarter from the 1500s through the 1950s. He let us know when his information bordered factual and lore. And pointed out sites of significance from historical to cinematic. Dennis tailored his information to our group’s specific needs, often asking direct questions of our 7th grade daughter to keep her engaged. We even got access to a “secret” courtyard that we would not have seen on a self-guided tour. We covered much of the French Quarter in our two hour tour and then took Dennis’s advice and had lunch at the Napoleon House. It was a great way to spend a half day in the Quarter.

We did the Magazine Street Foodie tour with a group of 6 girls while in town for a bachelorette party. In my opinion this was the best money we spent on an activity the entire trip! It was a hit with all 6 girls, who all have very different tastes in food. We all left the tour VERY full and so happy with all of the food. This tour is a great way to get to try a variety of local food while learning about the history of food in New Orleans. Mark was our guide and he has a passion for sharing his love of history and good food. He was the perfect guide for this tour. He is knowledgeable, fun, and entertaining. Tour groups are always small so it’s very easy to hear what is going on, ask questions, and interact throughout the tour. I cannot recommend this tour enough to anyone who likes trying new food!

  • Jennifer Dunham

This was an amazing tour! The food choices were spot on! One of the things my husband and I appreciated the most is being brought to places we would never have thought to go ourselves. Our tour guide, Ty, did a great job of introducing the food, giving the history and importance of what we were eating and great overall information. Ty adjusted the discussions after learning what we had already learned about New Orleans history and food on our trip already. Magazine street was a beautiful street to walk. It was an easy walk and even though it was hot, the breaks in between at the restraunts were perfect! Ty even showed us a couple of great shops along our walk! I definitely recommend this tour to anyone who enjoys a variety of food and is interested in the origin of cuisines.

  • Karolyn Steele

Our guide, Andrew, was a phenomenal wealth of information. Though the LGBTQ tour can be difficult to hear through all of the tragedies, Andrew relayed the past with extreme calm and grace. He answered any and all questions that we presented and left us with a strong sense of understanding of the community here in New Orleans. We are seasoned veterans to this city having come about twice a year for the past ten years, but this piece of New Orleans was one we had not explored. I’m so happy we decided to book. Excellent work, Andrew. A sign of a good tour is that you leave us wanting to delve deeper, and that’s exactly what you did. I’ve now got my eye on some documentaries and books I’d like to see and read. Bravo.

  • Virginia Hamilton

My wife and I went on the LGBT Queer History Tour guided by the knowledgable and welcoming Ty. It was a fantastic tour; the details and information shared left us both moved and eager to learn more about NOLA's rich lgbt history. Ty, especially, was fantastic. They offered additional details and color throughout the entire tour; it really felt like they went above and beyond for us. They also gave us some great documentary, book, and very importantly, FOOD! recommendations for the area. I cannot recommend this tour enough. Save some time to step away from the party to learn about the rich LGBT history of the city-- it's well worth it. Plus, you'll get some great tips on what to explore later.

  • Rachel Shapiro

Wow Ty! Thank you for such an amazing food tour experience. I've been to food tours all over the world, and this is definitely one of the best ones I've ever been to. The food was incredible and oh so plentiful but that's only one part of a good food tour - and kind of the easiest part to control. But it's the guide who really makes or breaks a food tour and Ty, you definitely made ours. You were so knowledgeable and passionate about your hometown but you knew just how to read the crowd and give us exactly the amount of info we wanted. I learned a lot (even as a Louisiana native!) I ate a ton. and I fell in love with New Orleans all over again.

  • Tasha Taylor

This is the one!!! Looking for something different to do we decided to do this. Im so glad i did!! Our tour guide was Mark. He was AWESOME!! So informative, funny and knowledgeable. Great stories and the food places were great! Come hungry!!! I was full after the 1st stop lol. I also ate things i never thought i would!! Alll my bougie friends are so proud . I did this with my husband it was his 1st time and we already did all of the tourist traps. Please do this tour and visit where the locals eat!! You won't regret it! I can't wait to do another one! 10 out of 10.

  • Wendy Richardson

We did the Magazine Street Foodie Tour with Angela and it was the highlight of our visit to New Orleans. Angela was extremely knowledgeable about the amalgamation of the different cultures that make up New Orleans and their impact to the cuisine. Everything was delicious and you will NOT be hungry or disappointed. Small group tours are the best because you have more access to your guide. Angela even provided recommendations at the end for local jazz music and dinner options for us to celebrate a birthday! We couldn't have been happier with our tour!

  • Susan

Our family of 4 took the Magazine Street Foodie tour with BJ—so amazing! BJ is a native New Orleanian and he is so knowledgeable about New Orleans history, culture, and FOOD! We visited several unique restaurants along Magazine and the food at each place was delicious, and BJ told us the stories of why each particular dish was part of New Orleans culture. I did not eat before going and was sooo full by the end! Come prepared to eat and enjoy, and have a wonderful time! Can’t wait to take another tour when we visit again!

  • Dave Fischoff

I had a great time on the New Orleans cocktail tour- the tour guide Mark was super friendly and knowledgeable and provided a ton of insider tips on where to get the best versions of classic NOLA cocktails. He also provided a lot of historical context about the drinks, the French Quarter and New Orleans in general. If you’re looking for a tour that provides lots of interesting history and insider tips on how best to eat & drink your way through this town, then this tour is for you.

  • Ben Fellow

This was a fantastic tour. The guide was a wealth of knowledge. I recommend doing this tour the first day of a trip because you will have the best information on where to spend the rest of your nights out. He has extensive experience in the food scene and had an answer and a recommendation for all of our questions. Come with an empty stomach because the portions are much larger than just samples. Also it is fine to do in the heat because most of the time is spent indoors.

  • Celina E.

The LGBTQ History Tour was the highlight of my week in New Orleans! Ty's knowledge, passion, and excitement to lead the tour and share this history makes this experience such a gem. Ty is so welcoming an approachable. I love that this tour was more of a dialogue than a traditional, lecture-based tour. Thanks to this tour, I also now have a favorite bar! I never would have stopped in if I hadn't learned about it. If you're unsure, just book a tour! You will NOT regret it!

  • Kara Hawkins

We took the Ghost Tours of the French Quarter tour and it was great! It was a small group of six people, in comparison to a lot of the other tours we saw that were twenty plus people. The Tour Guide, Adelai, was amazing and focused the tour on topics that the group was particularly interested in. She also took us to a bar within a haunted hotel for a quick break which was much appreciated. We had a great time and would definitely recommend!

  • Valeria Pardo

Went on the ghost and vodou tour with my family and it was AMAZING! Both tour guides (Avon, I think? And Ty) were extremely informative and attentive. They definitely have done their research and will not speak about matters that are not backed up by articles, newspapers, etc. Basically, they won’t give you false information for the show of it which I appreciated. Overall, it was a great experience that I highly recommend. ♥️

  • Dana

The Magazine Street Foodie tour was an absolute delight and such a great way to learn more about New Orleans. The food at all of the destinations were delicious and I walked away absolutely stuffed. As Mark the tour guide said: this is a eating tour not a tasting tour. The communication with the Team leading up to the tour was amazing and I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide in Mark. 10/10 experience.

  • Mary Rambla

In my humble opinion, an absolute must! Originally I thought, ghost tour, cheesy and trite, but it so wasn't the case. From the friendly staff that greets you upon arrival to the knowledgeable, thoughtful tour guide of the ghost stories, it was all thoroughly enjoyable. It felt more like history coming to life. And was definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I would highly recommend to everyone.

  • Michaela Byrd

Evian led a great Voodoo tour. My husband and I were really looking for a tour that got at the history and religion of Voodoo, as opposed to what popular media generally portrays. I think this tour gave us exactly what we were looking for- Evian was able to explain just how significant Voodoo's influence in New Orleans is, and how it has shaped the city we see today. Very informational tour!

  • larrykarg

Another great tour experience!! My company worked with team at New Orleans Secrets Tours for the 3rd time to put together a custom-built progressive dinner program in the French Quarter. The planning team and tour guides expertly put together and then led a tour for our group visiting from a diverse set of U.S. destinations. Thank you and we look forward to the next one!

  • Mary Graham-Zak

What a wonderful experience. Our tour guide, Angela was so knowledgeable about the Garden District, the homes, the architecture, the gardens and most importantly, the residents who live there. I learned so much about the history of burials in New Orleans too! I will definitely be scheduling more tours through New Orleans Secret Tours the next time I’m in town!!

  • Bethany Vogel

These tours were amazing. We ended up taking the Ghost Tour and Voodoo Tour - both of which I would highly recommend. The tour is like getting to walk with a local AND historian at the same time. They were so knowledgeable and passionate about the topics, it was really incredible. Well worth the money. We learned so much. Again - HIGHLY recommend!!

  • Talal Kairouz

Third time on this tour (cocktail history tour) and never fails to disappoint. Was looking to book a private tour given our numbers and availability, and my original tour guide from many years ago (Angela) reached out and was incredibly helpful. Our tour guide Mark was awesome and the group had a great time. Would recommend these folks to anyone.

  • Chris Wallace

We were in NOLA for an anniversary celebration just after Thanksgiving and decided to add this tour to our list of things to enjoy. Fa-La-La-fright Night tour was booked. Our fairy Adelai was great. Her presentation was not rote and she was very interactive. We really learned a lot about the Quarter and its spookiness. Highly recommend.

  • Mark Shaw

We just completed a history tour with Dennis and I have to say, he has done his research. Well presented and wonderfully informational. What a pleasant time through the French Quarter, Jackson Square and the River. Also, thanks for the referral of Napoleon House. I would recommend Dennis and New Orleans Secrets Tours in a heartbeat.

  • Gerard Eustace

Hands down the best tour company, tour guides and experience in NOLA. We went on three tours, all were great and informative on NOLA’s history and cultural influences. Fantastic and interactive tour guides, a very intimate experience due to the size of the group, which was a bonus. Highly recommend NO Secrets Tours.

  • Shelly Jackson Green

My friends and I booked the Foodie Tour and it was the BEST TOUR! We had Mark as our tour guide. He was so knowledgeable about his city. He will make you fall in love with the food and city of New Orleans. This tour was worth every penny. I can’t wait to come back to visit! Thank you so much for the wonderful food!

  • Brian Davis

Decided to go on the ghost tour on a whim, and I’m so glad I did! Easily the best part of my entire trip. My tour guide, Brittawnée, was so knowledgeable, respectful, and fun. And the small group size made for an intimate, non-intimidating tour. I don’t usually write reviews, but I am now. What a hidden gem! Do it!

  • Fawna Andrews

Great tour! An interesting and delicious variety of NO cuisine in a lovely area of the city. Our guide, Ty, was full of interesting information and an easygoing manner made our time together fun and relaxing. This is a wonderful way to get to know New Orleans, its culture and culinary diversity. Highly recommend.

  • Betsy Tirado

The Magazine Street Foodie Tour was perfection. Mark was a delightful, passionate, and knowledgeable guide. Every morsel and libation was perfection. Great tour for your first day in town since Mark is a treasure chest of suggestions for any foodie. He will help you find several great spots to try new cuisine.

  • Dani Henry

New Orleans Secrets was a really intimate experience. For me, being in a smaller group was much more enjoyable. I especially liked Brit as our guide. We took the Ghost Tour and she was very respectful of the history she shared. Brit was also prepared, navigating the crowds to provide the best experience.

  • KAYLA M

Such a great food tour! Mark the tour guide (I’m guessing possibly owner or he needs a raise/bonus) was soo passionate about food and New Orleans. He knew so much and has such great food spots picked. All other food tours will pale in comparison after you go to this one it was just perfect!

  • Melanie Cohn

Suuuuch a fantastic experience! I did the Magazine Street food tour with a friend and it was one of the best tours I’ve been on (and I’ve done a lot). Our guide was truly brilliant. Amazing stories and a wealth of knowledge about NOLA. So much better than any expectation you could have.

  • Alex Hagen

Our guide Tylyn was fantastic and we had a blast. Small group, great info, tailored to our interests, learned a lot, and ended up at a great live music venue. (We saw other tours from other companies where the guides were reading from their phone). New Orleans Secrets was fantastic.

  • Nana Vic

Food tour with Mark was amazing - this was our second time and learned so many new things each time. Mark is so passionate about the city and food -it’s a 3 hour event! Want to experience Nola through the eyes of a local? - this is the tour for you. Promise you won’t be sorry …

  • Sarah Lucero

  • Renee ReBell

Our guide Roger made this tour come to life with his professionalism and great story-telling. We did the Magazine St Food Tour and loved it from start to finish. A highlight for us was The Rum House and the Terrance Osborn Art Gallery. When I return, I will go back to both.

  • denise bogle

Our tour guide was amazing. He not only took us to what we considered the best local eateries, but provided a detailed explanation. We learned the history of the people who make up New Orleans today. Their culture and cuisine- with a splash of local terminology. Five stars!
