Amazing trip with Giselle and Tours by Isabelle. At the last minute and in the middle of the summer season I decided to reach out to Isabelle to take a personalised tour. I work in disaster management and recovery with a focus on community resilience in my home country, so I had a pretty specific goal in mind. I wanted recovery lessons from “the storm” and Ida that I could take back to my team as we had just been through a significant cyclone of our own and were looking down the barrel of a long recovery. Isabelle absolutely delivered for me. Her communication was excellent, especially given the timeframe and she worked with me to make sure I could see what I needed. I was able to see different areas and get a really tailored experience that I will never forget. I definitely recommend Tours by Isabelle as a company. I found them friendly, incredibly helpful and sincere. Giselle, my guide on the day was amazing, she was very knowledgeable and knew exactly what I was hoping to get from the experience, she really went above and beyond (in a sweltering heatwave!) to make sure I got the information I needed. I came away with about 5 pages of my notes to take home and have been able to give valuable presentations from it in my country. I have also woven the many stories she told me into community preparedness sessions so the tour was valuable in lots of ways. Giselle gave me a great personal perspective and I really appreciated that she gave up her time to show me around. Overall, excellent experience from start to end and I thoroughly recommend it.

My boyfriend and I just did the grand airboat / plantation tour yesterday. It was AMAZING, absolutely worth the money, book now. Our driver, Gisele, was super informative and helpful. She gave us a mini tour on the way to every stop and also gave us recommendations, explained how to use the streetcars, and gave us a little bit of information about her current research project. Make sure you ask her about steamboats! My only concern pre-trip were the drive times so to address that - it wasn't bad at all. The driver will keep you entertained and the rides themselves are a pleasant break for your feet. The swamp tour was wonderful. We saw lots of gators, but even if we hadn't it would have been a good time. The airboat was fun and the scenery was gorgeous. Both plantations were interesting stops. Laura plantation covered both family history and the history of the enslaved populations living there. The tour guide was super passionate about the information he was providing us. Houmas house had breathtaking gardens and an EXPANSIVE home for us to learn about. Both were nice to visit, but completely different experiences from each other. Oh and as far as the food goes? Everything I tried at the lunch was delicious. Gisele recommended the white chocolate bread pudding and was 100% correct. It was the best I've tried. All in all, I definitely recommend booking this tour. The whole day was well thought out. It was an amazing experience and if we come back to New Orleans we will be booking another trip with Tours by Isabelle

We took the Destrehan & Houmas House With Lunch Tour with Tours by Isabelle, and it was the best decision we made on our New Orleans trip. Our guide Giselle was awesome, she picked us up on time, and the transport was super comfortable - I usually get car sick, but I was totally fine. From the get-go, we felt so fortunate to get Giselle, and she was so friendly, welcoming, and funny! We were entertained throughout as she provided interesting facts about not only the plantations but New Orleans too - she is super knowledgeable, she answered all our questions, and paced the tour really well, we never felt rushed, and was very accommodating. We were quite fortunate to have a super small group - only 4 of us, it felt like a private tour! We also loved this tour because we were able to contrast two different plantations types, and admittedly we were also drawn to the tour by the included lunch, which was a nice spread of local food like gumbo, catfish, and bread pudding, all were delicious, don't skip on the bread pudding! Even though we didn't opt for the added Swamp tour, we did get to see some gators on the way as we were driving past the swamps! Overall, the tour was really worth it as we got to absorb all the stories and history of the plantations (and New Orleans in general) without worrying about the logistics of getting there, timing our arrival for tour sessions, finding lunch - honestly, it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip!

Every time we come to New Orleans, our family will be sure to only use Tours by Isabelle. We initially booked the plantation tour with the buffet lunch, however we were not able to go because there wasn't enough reservations for that particular day. Isabelle contacted me right away and stayed in constant communication via text and phone for additional options to either reschedule for a different tour (the one we wanted was on the day we were scheduled to leave) or to receive a full refund. Although we were looking forward to having a buffet style lunch, we settled on the Whitney and St. Joseph plantation tour. However, this choice was a long shot from settling! Our tour guide John Hall was so informative and knowledgeable about the rich history of the Creole, Cajun and African America history in Louisiana. Both plantations were breathtaking to say the least. The Whitney Plantation I believe is a must for every American, regardless the background, to visit. There was so much information to take in about the history of slavery in this country and how the enslaved lived. Walking through the Plantation was a unique experience that can only be understood after experiencing it! Yes, New Orleans is probably the best city you can go to to party, but don't leave without taking a piece of American history with you.

I had a bayou and plantation tour package, and it was awesome! The tour was well-organized and engrossing - be prepared to soak all of these interesting facts about all kind of things from swamp wildlife habitat to some obscure facts about slavery in Louisiana in comparison with other Southern states. Our tour guide (and driver as well), Ellen, was super knowledgeable and give us a local's perspective on Mardi Gras, French Quarter, what kind of places are worth visiting and why... I like it! Also, can't help but mention Kyle, the guide on Laura's plantation tour, and Auguste, the Houmas' house guide. Both were very thorough and detailed, and I was surprised by the depth of the research they had to make in order to prepare their tours. It seems like Kyle knows everything about the family that owned the Laura plantation and he's really digging into it, whereas Auguste amazed me how he's own family story interwoven with the story of Houmas house and it residents; also, he was extremely funny yet refined, so to say. Long story short - this tour was definitely worth spending money and time, and one won't be disappointed taking it.

Two Iconic Plantations, Cajun Lunch and an Airboat Tour First, let me say this, "Book with Tours by Isabelle". My travel partner and I had originally booked another tour on a different day that no additional people were interested in. Isabelle personally worked with me and scheduled us on the 2 Iconic Plantations, Lunch and an Airboat Tour. On this grand tour we visited and explored both the Laura Plantation and the Houmas House Plantation and Gardens. Were served an elegant Cajun Lunch at the Houmas house. On this day, the airboat tour was the last thing we did due to a mechanical problem with the boat's engine. Our guide for the day was Isabelle (who was a teacher)and is very personable and knowledgeable of New Orleans and Southern Louisiana. The guides at the Plantations and the airboat were also very knowledgeable of the history and all really helped us understand Plantation and Cajun life and history. A lot was learned and a good time was had by all! The airboat ride was cold on the water, and be prepared for a gator experience!

Wow! Where to start! Isabelle is amazing and she has gone out of her way to make an amazing adventure for you. Excellent communication from the purchase of your tickets to when she picked us up at our air bnb "home". Her touring van was covid safe and sparkling clean. She has been a tour guide in the area for decades and we enjoyed her insight to the area. She is truly committed to offering the best service. She kept our day outing scheduled even though storms came in and there were only 3 of us! Our first stop was the swamp tour. Amazing and fun! We felt safe and appreciated all of the new things we learned about the coastal swamps and wild life. The next stop was the Laura plantation where we learned of a Creole way of life vs the American plantation. At the American plantation of Houmas House we had the best meal of our trip at the Carriage House Cafe! So delicious...and amazing ambiance! Beautiful gardens friendly staff. Then a safe trip home. Thank you Isabelle for a trip we won't soon forget!

Excellent tour of two very interesting plantation homes and airboat tour of a swamp. I highly recommend Isabelle as she is very knowledgeable of the area and its history. She is also very accommodating as we had different pick up point that she made arranged with no problems. Then, when an unexpected rainout of our swamp tour happened, she worked us in on another day when we were coming back through the area. Her customer service is outstanding. The tour of both plantation homes gave a great insight into the history of the area and the people who built it. The swamp tour was very educational into the ecosystem of the swamp and entertaining as well as we saw numerous alligators and our son got to feed some. All in all, this tour with Isabelle was definitely a highlight of our vacation. I highly recommend it. We will be looking into some of her other tours for a future trip to the area.

  • Sandee McLay

We were so impressed with the personalized service received from Isabelle and her staff. We completely enjoyed the plantation tour that we took as well as the airboat adventure we booked through her. It was such a major convenience to be picked up at our hotel and taken to the tour locations. We did the plantations tours of Laura Plantation and Destrehan Plantation. The docents were so knowledgeable and knew the history of each property. Rene our tour guide for the plantation tour was exceptional and is a New Orleans native with quite the family history in this part of the country. Hearing his stories was amazing and we really appreciated his advice on local cuisine and jazz venues. We highly recommend any tour from Isabelle as you will feel like you are part of the family and welcomed as such. Thank you Isabelle!

  • Simone Beaudelaire

The airboat was fantastic. It's so fresh and lovely out there in the wilderness. The Laura Plantation was fascinating and I appreciated the realistic balance of information between the family's legacy and the lives if the enslaved who made it happen. Lunch was delicious. I was less entranced over the Houmas Plantation. It's lovely, yes, and the grounds were impressive but the guide was more focused in the cost of various items than the history and the enslaved were rarely mentioned. Sugar barons did not do the work that made their fortune. They organized it. Still the house was interesting ind very pretty. Our tour tour guide/driver, Gisèle, was really a high point. Friendly, efficient, knowledgeable and man can she drive! She elevated the tour! 10/10 overall. Highly recommended.

  • Peggy DuPont

The entire tour was very absorbing, informative and well-managed. Gisele, the tour guide from Isabelle's Tours, was charming, knowledgeable and organized, and I found her personal anecdotes both relevant and revealing. I highly recommend this tour if you are looking for meaningful insight/understanding of authentic plantation life. St. Joseph provided a clear sense of the white experience of plantation existence (not “Gone with the Wind”) while Whitney focused on the plantation life from the enslaved perspective. Both plantations were absorbing, especially Whitney, where the extensive effort to properly document experiences was obvious. Anyone interested in the real history of the plantation era in the south should absolutely take this tour.

  • Carla Giachino

We had the Grand Tour (2 plantations + swamp, lunch included). It has been a great day! Our tour guide Giselle was really kind, enjoyable and with a deep knowledge of Louisiana’s history and tradition. We were picked up at our hotel, and we were in a group of 10 people; being a small group is great. First stop was the swamp, where we could see one alligator very close even if this is not the best season. Then we went to Laura’s. The tour was very interesting and moving, especially the part about slavery. Then we went to Houmas House for visit and lunch (so good!). On the bus Giselle explained us a lot about Louisiana history in a very nice way. Thank you Isabelle for the wonderful organization and thank you Giselle for the great day!

  • kimberley kane

Everything about Tours by Isabelle was wonderful. Renee, our tour guide, was a local with a wealth of knowledge about pretty much everything New Orleans. Our drive out and back to the plantations was a learning experience in and of itself! Renee was absolutely fantastic. The small van was clean and comfortable for the short trip and it showed up right on time. Communication with Isabelle prior to our tour was great. She was always quick to answer and all questions. She even added a tour for us at 8:30 am because the other one was full and we couldn't go in the afternoon since it would entail us arriving back in the city too late to make our dinner reservations at Commander's Palace. Book Tours by Isabelle, you won't be disappointed.

  • Allisun OConnell

Booked a small group airboat tour. We were not given a tour by Isabelle's company, but instead placed on a tour with Ragin' Cajun Swamp Tours. That would have been okay if we had not discovered we were charged an additional $19 per person more than everyone else on the same tour! When I reached out to Isabelle to ask why, I received no response. Additionally, our boat driver was not a good tour guide. Gave very little information - we learned nothing about the preserve we were in, or the history of the area. Just some facts about the number of alligators and age a bald eagle gets white feathers, and some very offputting stories about him killing a man eating alligator (and showing us pictures of human body parts on his phone).

  • Kimberly Offord

Isabelle was great with communicating the particulars of the tour and what we would need for the day of the tour well in advance. On the day of the tour John was awesome! John picked me up from my hotel on time. From the moment our small group departed, he educated our small group about New Orleans along the way. John’s knowledge of the historical events of the area was phenomenal. The tours of Whitney and St Joseph were very informative. Whitney plantation tells the story from the view of the slave, whereas St. Joseph from the view of the owners. Whitney Plantation has an awesome audio tour. The guide at St. Joseph was friendly and very knowledgeable. The 5 hour day was well worth it and highly recommended!!

  • Cassidy Rhythym

We thoroughly enjoyed our half-day airboat and plantation tour! Our tour guide, René, was friendly and super knowledgeable. He shared interesting facts and history about New Orleans and the surrounding areas. We were also picked up in a comfy van, and they provided booster seats for my two daughters (6 and 7). The airboat ride was exhilarating, and we really enjoyed seeing the beauty and the wildlife in the swamps! We then went to Destrehan Plantation, where René showed us around prior to the start of our tour of the plantation house. It was all very interesting and worthwhile for the adults and the kids alike! Thanks, René and Tours by Isabelle! We highly recommend this experience.

  • Jason Strauss

Start to finish- Isabelle had us ready for the tour from the moment we ordered online and was in communication with all our faqs ahead of time! Gisele was our driver and experience guide and she was like winning the lottery! Picture this, Merle Streep in rain boots with all the knowledge of New Orleans, plantations and more and then throw in some spice and that is Gisele ! Voila !! Our Visits to the plantations and meal were absolutely great and our group was small enough to stay safe during covid and we were kept to a small list of rules to keep us all safe. Overall- Even with the rain this was a memorable experience that really was made better by this tour company!

  • Katie Box

We had a great time in on the airboat and plantation tours. The scenery at all locations was beautiful. We even (safely) saw alligators up close and personal! The logistics went smoothly... from picking us up/dropping off at our hotel, to transportation from one site to another. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable, especially our tour guide Rene. He helped us even more with great suggestions of places to eat and things to do in our remaining time in New Orleans! The group dealt well with Covid protocols and everything was clean and organized. We’d recommend this tour to anyone looking for an easy, pleasant experience outside the city for the day.

  • Alex B

Excellent experience for our group of 11. We were picked up at our hotel by Gisèle. During the 30 min ride she shared some great facts and stories about New Orleans and gave us the run down on the experience we were about to have. We then were introduced to Capt. Eric who provided a scenic journey through the swamp and marshland. We saw several gators and had 5 approach the boat to snack (on chicken drumsticks only!). We learned so much about these animals and conversation efforts in the area. It was thrilling and educational all around! Gisèle was kind enough to drop us off at a local watering hole after so we could keep the party rolling.

  • Meredith Bryant

We absolutely LOVED this tour! Isabelle was wonderful, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly while making arrangements for the tour and during the tour itself! Pick up and drop off were effortless and extremely convenient. The air boat ride was so much fun, the plantations were beautiful, lunch was fantastic, and all the tour guides at the different locations were great! The walking was not strenuous at all and the tour can easily be enjoyed by persons of any age or ability. Anyone coming to New Orleans who wants to experience a variety of options in just one day needs to consider this Grand Tour. We highly recommend it to everyone!

  • Cristy Schaan

This tour is great! It’s an all-day tour but you get a lot of sitting time combined with walking so it is not too strenuous. We had Giselle as our guide and provided a lot of interesting historical information. The boat ride was a lot of fun although we didn’t get to see any alligators since it was colder out, but it certainly wasn’t for a lack of trying from our boat guide. Both of the plantation tours were excellent and are quite different from one another which was nice to have different tours. The lunch was delicious! Everything was better than expected and I highly recommend this trip.

  • Samantha Garrison

Isabelle was a wealth of knowledge and so friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting with her and the plantation visits. She picked us up at our Airbnb and while the drive to and from the plantations were long she did a great job of keeping us entertained and showing us places a long the way and we learned so much about the history here. My favorite plantation visit was Houmas House and the lunch was amazing. I highly recommend Tours by Isabelle but I think booking direct is better than Trip Advisor in this case as you can customize a little more.

  • Sonia Gautier

Such a nice experience. We were warmly welcomed by Giselle, our guide. The guide and the tour was extremely helpful, good and Giselle was flexible ( appreciate this). She gave us time to walk around, she gave us extra clothes for the swamp and she also offered to drop us off anywhere we wanted and for that Giselle deserve a special thanks! Giselle is also incredibly knowledgeable and funny!! We truly enjoyed visiting the plantation and the swamp and we would totally and highly recommend ‘Tour with Isabelle ‘. Merci beaucoup!

  • Heather Deinhardt

We had a wonderful time with Giselle as our guide. It was a small group which made it particularly nice. We took the full day tour of The Destrehan & Houmas House. Emma guided us through the grounds at the Destrehan plantation. It was a neat tour with an excellent guide. Then we drove for about an hour to the Houmas House where we enjoyed a gourmet buffet lunch, don’t skip the bread pudding which is some of the best I’ve ever tried. Darren meticulously guided us through the Houmas House. This tour is well worth the money.

  • Ashlee Hill

We had a fantastic time today with Rene! He got us around safely, gave us a great history tour along the way, and had some good food/drink recommendations. It was really nice to have him do all the driving and escorting us to each stop. For once I didn’t have to stress about parking, not knowing where to go etc. The air boat tour, plantations, and lunch, did not disappoint. Well worth the money and we were able to see/do a lot in one day. 10 outta 10 highly recommend Tours by Isabelle, professional top notch service.

  • Hollie Bennett

Took the tour to Whitney and St Joseph’s plantation. Loved the smaller group experience. Our guide, Ellen, was so kind and answered so many questions about New Orleans. She went out of her way to drive by and point out historical locations on our way to each stop. She obviously had a great relationships with the staff at each location. I was also 8 months pregnant in 90 degree weather and she was so attentive and helpful to me because the heat and humidity was rough for me. Thank you for the positive experience!

  • Mariorl Calderon

My sister and I did the tour of the Laura and Joseph plantations. Laura was great and the person who walked us around there was phenomenal — so engaging and knowledgeable. We then went on to Joseph plantation — that one was a bit too slow paced for me (pretty boring TBH), but the outdoor greenery and trees are beautiful. Ellen was our driver round trip, and she was incredible! As a local, she is so well versed in all things New Orleans history and she made the drive very engaging. Would definitely recommend it!

  • Bill VanVolkinburg

"Tours by Isabelle" is the only call you should make when looking for adventures in and around New Orleans! Isabelle and her staff are amazing to deal with. Our guide Ellen was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. From the front door of your hotel pick up and drop off, to the small group experience, you won't find better service. The tours to local plantations were the best we've experienced in our numerous travels to New Orleans. I highly recommend Tours by Isabelle, and will certainly be a repeat customer!

  • Linda Hickson

Did the City Tour. It was absolutely beautiful! We learned so much and with a small group in a luxury van we were able to drive inside the Harden District! The levees, flood gates and cemetery! Wow! Plus som wonderful music history as well! A must see tour in NOLA! Excellent communication from them as well with pick up time and they were on time. Did their plantation and swamp/bayou tour three years ago. Was so fantastic that we used them again this trip! I highly recommend them!

  • Elaine Carlson

Our tour guide Ellen is a national treasure-she was professional, personable, and a wealth of knowledge! We were the only two people on our tour, which only meant that we received an incredibly personalized experience. She even made sure that we had water/snacks before going out into the Louisiana heat which was greatly appreciated! I would highly recommend booking a tour from Tours by Isabelle and I know I will be booking another tour from them the next time I’m in New Orleans!

  • Carisa Olson

Excellent tour! I highly recommend Tours by Isabelle. Our guide for the day was Giselle, and she is awesome. She has so much knowledge of the area and kept us informed about how long each stop would be. The tour bus was comfortable and safety measures were in place, such as available hand sanitizer and a clear curtin between the driver and passengers. My tour was the Grand tour, which was all day and included an airboat and 2 home tours with lunch. I had such a wonderful day!

  • Sam Murphy

An absolutely wonderful day out. Gisele is a magnificent tour guide who is friendly, professional, passionate, fun, and very erudite about all things NOLA. There's a great variety of experiences throughout the day and you will learn so much about Louisiana's incredible culture, history, and geography all the while thoroughly enjoying yourself and meeting new people from all over the world. It's no wonder Tours By Isabelle has been going for 42 years strong! Highly recommend.

  • B. Gardiner

The company is reliable and gave us an awesome experience. Giselle was our driver. She was delightful, insightful, and enthusiastic from start to finish. Giselle had lots of knowledge to share about the city and history of New Orleans. We did the grand plantation and swamp tour. Very clean van and the lunch at Houmas House was delicious. We would definitely book again and recommend this company to anyone wanting a great experience. Don’t go cheap, go awesome!!

  • Brenda Cook

Isabelle made the airboat tour so convenient. Her driver picked us up and shared lots interesting info on the way out to the Bayou. Got us checked in then waited for us to drive us back . Isabelle called me personally to assure us pickup was no problem and that we would have a carefree day . The boat ride was fun. We saw lots of gators and different bird species. Our guide was friendly and gave us a few thrills while out there! Great way to spend an afternoon.

  • Brandt Callahan

What a great day! Rene was our driver and he had such great energy! We enjoyed a tour that involved both Destrehan and Houmas House. Rene gave us a great explanation and history lesson on the difference between Creole and Cajun. He also did a great job with explaining the story behind the Slave Revolt of 1811. Take the opportunity to travel outside of New Orleans proper with this tour by Isabelle and begin to understand how this city became what it is.

  • Jackie Feeler

Had a wonderful time with René. He was super fun and very informative. Had some great recommendations for food and drinks and places to see! We were able to enjoy René's expertise with 2 different tours and would gladly request him for more tours in the future. Ms. Isabelle was very pleasant to work with. She kept up in the loop before and after the tour and even sent pics that were taken by René. 10/10 would book Tours by Isabelle again and again!!

  • Anne Tentschert

Gisele picked us up early and we went to different plantations ! Gisele is friendly, informative and a wonderful tour guide! Both plantations we friendly and the stories of each place was told by a guide of the plantations! We stopped for lunch, which was delicious by the way! Then we toured the 2nd mansion. All was done very friendly and in a professional manner! Great tour guide, great ride and a wonderful sunny day! You can’t ask for more!

  • Brando Quinn

Tours by Isabelle is the best in New Orleans...my wife and I took the airboat swamp tour a Louisiana must tour! Isabelle picked us up curbside at our hotel, gave us a great narration history tour on our way to the swamp in her comfortable coach. and then we enjoyed the airboat tour with a capable and confident airboat captain who introduced us to the swamps and bayous filled with wildlife, gators and more! 5 stars and 2 thumbs up, Way Up!

  • Amanda Hubbard

John was the most amazing tour guide! You can tell he loves his state & knows its history. We took the Destrehan & Houmas tour (lunch included). If you like history & architecture, this is definitely a tour worth your while. Isabelle was nice enough to get us added on at the last minute (totally appreciated!!--thanks Isabelle!). The lunch at Houmas was delicious, very authentic. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat.

  • Kirsten Showe

Amazing tour and a great way to see 2 sites in one day. The swamp tour was incredible! Some of the alligators even got to come hop in the boat with us! The plantation was equally as beautiful and the tour guide seemed passionate about the stories of the house. Isabelle is a wonderful guide and very knowledgeable about New Orleans and it’s rich history. Everyone wore masks and it was a safe socially distanced tour.

  • Laura Townsend

Book through Tours by Isabelle! My husband and I ran into a bit of a logistical nightmare with our booking through Trip Advisor (at no fault of this tour group, 100% trip advisor’s fault) - Isabelle went OUT OF HER WAY to help us, stopping everything she was doing to make sure that we got to go on this tour. She is truly a wonderful person who cares deeply about her customers. Thank you Isabelle!

  • Joseph Madrigal

Tours by Isabelle is wonderful, I wholeheartedly recommend for your next trip to New Orleans!! We got picked up right in front of our hotel and our tour guide Gisèle was fantastic, she really was very knowledgeable and passionate about the city! There’s a reason there are so many 5 star reviews, you really do get the most bang for your buck with this tour company! Thanks Isabelle and Gisèle!

  • Evan Kase

Took the st joseph/whitney plantations tours. On time pickup from my B&B on Espanade Ave by Kat, who was a solicitous, genial guide who kept up an informative, lively narrative during the drive there and back. Learnt so much not just about slavery at Whitney or plantation life at St Joseph, but also about New Orleans, its history and Katrina from Kat and the.maps provided on the bus.

  • Dana McClure

Isabelle was wonderful. She arranged to have her Vans pick up our Group of 15 Luggage and all from our Cruise trip. Took us on a Great Swamp Tour followed by Lunch at Signette Landing, An extra trip to City Park and Cafe Du Monde. She told us all about the History and places we drove by. She also got us to the Airport on time for our flight out. Great end to our Family Vacation.

  • Ada Thompson

Wonderful tour! We covered everything we wanted to see. Cemetery tour, stop at Cafe Dumond, wonderful history, architecture, Katrina explanations. Fun Halloween decorations with a stop at one display for pictures. The small van was so much nicer than a bus and crowd. Also allowed flexibility. John was a helpful, fun, informative guide. Would recommend this tour to all.

  • Thad and Chaya Berrey

Isabelle gave us a tour of downtown New Orleans, in May, in the middle of Covid. Her tour kept both us and our children interested, despite the fact that much of the city was still shut down. She was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions! We enjoyed our overview of New Orleans, made personal by Isabelle. We would highly recommend Tours by Isabelle!

  • Princess Margo

Booking was easy. Isabelle made sure to communicate about everything. She makes you feel like family coming to visit. Rene is amazing!! The bantering, stories about life in New Orleans, and everything in-between. Their tour guide service and exceptional knowledge about New Orleans is the best I have come across. The experience is even better than the pictures!!

  • Christian Singer

Excellent Tour. Timely pickup with a small, comfortable bus. Since it was raining, we were provided with ponchos. Our Driver Steven was awesome, he told us much about the history of Louisiana in a lively and entertaining way. The airboat tour was great and we actually saw Gators being fed. The Plantation tours were stunning and the meal was delicious. TOP!

  • Zoé Heilmann

This was the best tour our family took on our visit to New Orleans. We went to spots we wouldn’t have known if we hadn’t went on it and our tour guide Rene was so friendly and knowledgeable. He was an absolute delight to spend the tour with. We were all having such a good time! Definitely would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a tour of the city.

  • Dena Currier

Rene is by far the best tour guide we’ve ever had. He knows NO like the back of his hand, historically as well as present day. Plus he gives “insider” information on the best places to eat, drink and to experience quality NO Jazz. The tour of Whitney Plantation is so sad moving and should be visited by everyone especially if you’re skin is white.

  • Anne Manchester

Gisele was such an amazing guide. We had a perfect day. The San Francisco plantation and Houmas plantation were amazingly beautiful. The lunch was delicious. The best part was listening to Gisele’s amazing history of the area. Her memory is spectacular and her wonderful story telling made the past come to life. Best part of our NOLA trip.

We had the best time today on our swamp/Plantation tour with Giselle. Even though it was freezing this morning we still had a blast on the airboat. Then we visited 2 of the most beautiful plantations. Laura and Houmas House. The provided lunch was 5 star quality and Giselle was an amazing guide. I would definitely recommend this tour!

  • David Lovett (Davielove)

Do not look any further. This is your tour company. Amazing, spectacular, must do! From the moment I called and spoke to Isabelle to when I said good bye to our amazing tour guide Renee, everything was top notch. I wish we could have done five more tours with this group but we ran out of time. We will come back just to do more tours.

  • Kathleen Bushong

Giselle was amazing. Highly recommend. We had such a good time and saw so many beautiful homes, and lots of history. Cemetery stop was very informative. We were the only 3 on this tour so Giselle tailored the tour to what we wanted to see. Isabelle and Giselle were great. Will definitely contact them if we get to New Orleans again.

What can I say!! Ms. Giselle is an amazing person, an amazing guide and provides us so much relevant, interesting and new facts and information throughout the two plantation tours! My wife and I learned so much and had a lot of fun!!! I will book with Tours by Isabelle again for other plantations on my next visit.

Such a great tour, thank you Anna for giving all of us a 5-star tour of New Orleans. We got a full breadth of the city’s history, both downtown and beyond the city limits. Comfortable van, lots of spots we got to check out on foot, and it gave us numerous ideas of areas to explore on our own. Highly recommend!!

  • F. Santos

The airboat tour with Dalton was great. It was chilly on our day so it was unlikely we would spot any alligators, but Dalton was able to spot one for us and gave us a great ride on the marsh! Giselle is lovely, engaging and so knowledgeable about the history of New Orleans. Highly recommend a tour with her!

  • Mel Waite

We did a double plantation tour with Tours by Isabelle after another tour company canceled on us last minute. Tours by Isabelle were amazing, the booking process was easy the tour group was small and relaxed and our guide/driver was friendly and informative. I can't recommend this company enough.

  • Renee Mulrooney

Great excursion! Definitely a must do when in New Orleans. Isabelle was great to communicate with. Really appreciated the pick up/drop off from our Air B&B since we didn’t rent a car. Saw plenty of gators & just the boat ride through the swamp itself was fun. Would definitely do again!

  • Markie Sierra

Went on laura/Whitney tours. Gisele was fun and informative! Definitely preferred Whitney plantations as Laura did not focus as much on slave history but both were fascinating and well preserved after Ida. The pick up made the tours interesting a long with some bonus plantation views!

  • Stephanie Friedman

  • Ted Turner

Giselle is a hugely knowledgeable tour guide. The airboat tour took us past Hank the gator, Bob the bird, and a small group of bald eagles. Laura plantation is a great example of Creole style plantation, while Houmas Plantation is the more typical of American plantation.

  • David Thorsrud

Was a great tour. Our guide, Rene, was very knowledgeable and funny and make the trip truly enjoyable. Airboat was a lot of fun! Went with a large group, and Isabelle was great handling all the scheduling problems that comes with that many people. Highly recommended!
