Had the High Tea the other day with 2 friends. I/we were terribly disappointed and I speak for the others when I say "never again". We were instructed by an individual (middle age) to arrive earlier, only an hour before our original timeframe as she had a personal errand to contend with and subsequently the restaurant would be closing at 4. Had to scramble to get ready to accommodate this woman's request. That's not how customers are to be treated at least in my definition of customer service. The food was then presented on a 3 tiered tray and I was gobsmacked to see how little there was. Each person had 3 "tiny" and I mean tiny sandwiches, 1 scone, 3 smaller portioned desserts of lesser quality. The sandwiches in total would likely have been a sandwhich cut in 3 less the crust. The Cucumber could not have been sliced any thinner, the Egg Salad was put on so thinly it was almost embarrassing. I'm perfectly aware of margins but this takes the cake. The Teapot was Silver and not polished and kept sliding off the table. I also would have expected that we each have our own Teapot and that the selection of tea be left with us to choose as needed. Please discard your chipped cups. There seems not to be an understanding as to what a High Tea encompasses. I encourage you to do some research please. It is to be an experience, a pleasureable one at that. The price is $30.00 each, yes $90.000s total and while my comprehension of a High Tea is that you aren't expecting full sized sandwiches it certainly isn't to leave the customer feeling cheated and hungry. To top it off the individual that summoned us there earlier was running around asking others to close up shop before the 4 o'clock bell. This is so ludicrous.

We were recommended by a friend to try this unique place out. It did not disappoint. Two groups went in. One for lunch and another for High Tea. Wow, the food was great for lunch $$ The presentation was great and the taste was very good. Both the Ethiopian burger- Lemuel with fries and the black bean burger with salad were great and would order again. The high tea was very special as it is unusual to find a place that still serves it. The jsandwiches, scones, short bread, brownie and cheesecake with tea. They wowed the women in the group!!!! A must visit. We will be back

Cute place. But food was not what all the hype was about. Had the bacon cheeseburger and it was one of those frozen supermarket kind Pattie’s. Bacon not cooked, had to actually spit out in my napkin due to the fat. Breakfast sandwich had a ton of onion so I would ask for none next time. Iced coffee was literally a glass of coffee with couple ice cubes. One guy working during a lunch hour. He was super friendly. But need two people. We asked for water and by the time he apologized to bring it we were already leaving. Paid $60 for a table full of uneaten food. We didn’t get a chance to talk about the meals or not did they realize we didn’t even eat it. Maybe my expectations were high due to the reviews but I also expected it to be a little more homemade like their burgers, fries etc to match their photos online.

Found this gem by accident and we were quite pleasantly surprised. The decor really fits the name. Lots of character and very clean. The food was fantastic. I had the classic burger and most burgers are just burgers but this one was juicy nicely seasoned and cooked to perfection. The young server ( Emmy ) was so outgoing and enthusiastic it made our lunch taste so much better. She was at the end of her shift but she took the time to come over to our table and thank us for choosing the restaurant before she left. I recommend this place for quality service and atmosphere

The best hidden gem of a cafe/diner I've ever been in. Just found this place thanks to a referral from my friends at the Galen Filipino bakery. I went in for a coffee and after meeting the owner Rachel, I sat down to enjoy it and relax. It's a very cozy, authentic, and welcoming environment, with lots of interesting things to look at. Some excellent charcoal artwork decorates the walls. But the food, price, and attention to the customer is what made me tell Rachel on the way out I'd be back with my daughters the next day. And I was, today, it was all amazing. Go here, support local business, and have great food as well. Breakfast, lunch, and light dinner options are available...

A gem of place on 118th Ave and 39 street, where old worl charm meets rustic and the ambience is calming with classical music softly playing the background. We were greeted and seated by Joseph and our leisurely lunch experience began. Our choice of burgers, mushroom with fries (homemade) for him, cheese and bacon for me were scrumptious., were juicy and tender. My accompanying salad was fresh and tasty(dressing served on the side). Coffee was strong but not bitter. Our server was attentive and so very friendly. Price for our meal was reasonable. We weren't rushed and lingered over coffee. We will return to try other items offered on the menu and for English tea.

I was really excited to come here after hearing great things, but was left kind of disappointed. The service was nice and lovely, but seemed quite slow and it took quite a while to get both drinks and food. The food was alright. My partner’s eggs on the breakfast poutine were extremely undercooked and my philly cheesesteak sandwich barely had any meat on it. Might give it another try as there is so many other great reviews, but also seems like other people have similar experiences.

Their Eggs Benny is one of the best I've had. We also ordered the moose french toast and the mix of blueberries, peanut butter, and ice cream was simply amazing. The atmosphere is very rustic. It was like walking into a museum or Fort Edmonton. Definitely will be back! UPDATE: I went back and decided to try their "star item" bacon cheeseburger and definitely one of the better places to get a burger!

Was really disappointed by the high tea experience. Service was lacklustre to almost rude from the start. They had lost our reservation and acted as though it was a hassle to set a new table for us. Food was ok, each person got three tiny sandwiches, one scone, and 3 other sweets. Hot water for tea was barely hot, and we were never checked on or offered a refill of water. Had to ask a couple times for to go boxes. Won’t be back and would not recommend.

A hidden gem in Beverly for all things brunch. ☕✨ The breakfast poutine was delicious and just the kind of thing I want when going out for brunch. I also ordered an oat milk latte and appreciated the dairy free option. My friend also had a lot of vegetarian options to choose from and loved the tofu bowl she got. Their prices are also amazing - so affordable for what you get! The decor is charming and eclectic - it's refreshing. The staff is friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back!

Not somebody who makes reviews or wants to leave a negative comment but I feel it might help the store. Was excited to come to this place as it’s pretty cool little place inside, however the waitress was super disappointing, we had waited over 20 mins for a drink and she never said anything while dropping food or drinks off, and it wasn’t even busy. Had to go to the counter if we needed anything and had to go to the counter to pay as she never came by. Food was good, just disappointing service enough for me to make a review.

  • John Addison

Had a unique and very enjoyable experience having high tea at the Old Beverly Cafe. So many nice touches. Antique couch and chairs. Cozy nook by the front window. Silver teapot, fancy tea cups, and tea spoons that the owners must have collected. Mine was from Montreal and my wife had one from Banff. We enjoyed the sandwiches, sweets, and scones though we had trouble getting through it all. Don't eat before coming!

Have been to the Cafe before and enjoyed it but was bitterly disappointed today. It was not overly busy, I ordered eggs Benedict and my friend had banana bread and a latte. The banana bread came out after about 10-15 min and the eggs took over 20min to come and when they finally came out, the potatoes were luke warm at best and the yolk was congealed and cold. Must have been sitting for a good amount of time before it was served. Not sure I will be back.

My partner and I love this place. It’s hard to convey how the visit to Old Beverly Café always feels like a warm hug. The food is excellent, pricing surprisingly reasonable (I’d even say it’s low!), and the staff’s service feels relaxed and genuine. It just feels like being at your favourite auntie’s home- one with a sunny room in which she serves you her comfort food and you don’t need to worry about a thing. We haven’t been there in a couple months. Today I’m just thinking about how much I love it there.

Atmosphere great, Service was good , ordered southwest poutine breakfast ask for soft eggs, eggs were way over cooked sent back. Eggs came soft with 1 egg broken so yolk was poured over poutine. I was in hurry ate it flavourful was ok pulled pork was average . For the high cost of meal I expected better plating and more care in preparation. Flavourful was very one note . I've been here before and was much better . Maybe they had a bad day

This was a great place for lunch. Took my wife on a lunch date here and we couldn't have been happier with the food and service. It's an adorable space that is easy to miss but worth looking for. They have a very nice sized menu with a little something for everyone. They also do High Tea, but make sure you have a reservation for that. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for a great local spot on the north side.

The little cafe that could. The hidden gem of a restaurant in old town Beverly. Even though we came on a Sunday a half hour before closing and a party of 7 we were served a excellent meal. The menu is small but great food choices. I had a Ethiopian flavoured burger and it was great. The poutine is great. The fries are homemade. Everyone enjoyed their food, it was tasty and prices are reasonable. The ambiance was great. The washroom was clean. We will definitely come back.

  • Leon

The food was great and portions were filling! Their prices are very reasonable and it's nice to add a coffee onto a meal and not have to pay $6 for it there is parking along the street around this area and it's worth it to come here for some breakfast or brunch! Will come again to try a new dish :) lovely place to come to on a date.

Pros:Nice atmosphere. Great layout. Clean. Tidy. Cons: service is slow and frustrating. Waited long time just for water. Why? Not sure. My partner and l both had breakfasts that were just ok, nothing really tasty. Lots of room for improvement. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately won't be coming back.

The cafe is cutely decorated and has a comfortable vibe. There's going to be ice cream available very soon, which I'm totally looking forward to. The food is good and the associate there is quite friendly. We ordered a few burgers to go, but she had to differentiate them by smell because they were already wrapped up in the foil. Due to the pandemic I was a bit concerned about that, but she was very nice about it

Most relaxing, beautiful restaurant. Perfect for tea and dessert on a special day out or a delicious lunch with the family. Feels like an old fashioned small town cafe. Elegant and peaceful. I visited this cafe with my girlfriend and we were both in agreement that the food was delicious. Prior to going I had seen some reviews that nitpicked certain things such as the esspresso or the poached eggs not being runny or mocha being a powder but these things didn't stop us from giving it a try. My girlfriend was hapoy with the burger and I thoroughly enjoyed the strawberry french toast.

Old Beverly Cafe is beautifully decorated. The interior design is retro and very instagrammable! What really makes them stand out is their incredibly affordable prices -- I got a handcrafted chai latte and a freshly grilled panini, I tipped 30%, and my total was $15 and change. Amazing!! One of my favourite places to go and chat with friends, or sit alone and work.

Stopped in for breakfast. Long wait for someone to take our drink order and longer to take our food order.Almost an hour later our food arrived .The cafe wasn't busy but I noticed that the staff was focusing on getting trays ready for high tea. My speciality coffee came at the end of the meal which was not enjoyable.

Cute restaurant loved the decor - our server was very kind - our poutines were very very good if a bit salty (maybe the bacon?) I didn't much like my Burger though. Process cheese. :P And the sauce on it or maybe a spice in it kinda put me off. Didnt eat it. We'll be back for the poutine tho fo sho.
