Date of stay: 24th/25th August 2014. Purpose of stay: visiting Cadbury World Room: Family Room - My wife, me and our 2 daughters( 9ys & 7yrs) The Old Farm Hotel is situated on Lindon Rd and is less than 5 minutes walk from 'Cadbury World' (just off same road!) we left the car at the hotel and walked once we realised how close the hotel was to Cadbury World. Normal check in is after 1pm, if you arrive early you can leave your bags at the reception area, there is a pleasant seating area with a mini bar, TV and views over the large well maintained gardens where you are free to relax until your room is ready. When we came back we given a warm welcome by Micky (lovely girl, my daughters thought she was very cool ha ha) Mickey asked us if we'd like a cup of tea, very welcome after the journey. Prices for drinks and other items are very good, the fairest I've had staying at any hotel to date. The hotel and staff: Its a vey old building with lovely character, but has the mod cons that you would expect (i.e. on suite/tea/coffee facility in room/hair dryer/towels & toiletries provided) If you're into run of the mill same old standardised rooms you see along the motorways and in most big towns then this may not be for you. However if you want a lovely village environment that is unique to Bournville , a friendly face and a warm welcome when you walk through the door, this is for you. There is always some there should you need anything, but your privacy is respected at all times, we felt like we'd walked into someone's beautiful home and been allowed free access to do what we wanted, its was so relaxing. Hygiene: The reception, rest area, dining room and our room were spotless, no dust, nothing, simply outstanding which for an old building shows the attention to detail the owner and staff pay to cleanliness. Food: Included in the price is breakfast, and what a breakfast it is.......fresh fruit (strawberries, blue berries and so on) fruit compote, yogurts, fresh juices and regular cereals. The best part for me and my wife personally was the English breakfast, not brashly large and not tiny, just the right size perfectly cooked as though you were cooking it yourself (I don't like grilled tomato's only tinned, so they did these for me instead, no fuss) toast and lovey butter (jam/ marmalade/honey pots on the table). This was the best value for money I've had to date from any place I've stayed, its going to be disappointing staying in the run of the mill types after this. We were sad to leave, even then when we said we were going to walk around the village for a bit we were told we were welcome to come back and use the facilities if we wanted before we finally drove home later in the day!....what lovely people, my girls loved their stay and how the staff interacted with them..... I highly recommend staying here, book early though its very popular, we'll be staying again soon.

We arrived fairly late into the check-in window and were greeted by a friendly member of staff who gave us our keys and the checklist for ordering our breakfast. The room was cosy, incredibly clean, with a lovely en-suite, hairdryer, great drinks tray, and a decently sized television. Our room had a view over the back garden and terrace, with a large window that fully opened - perfect for the warm evenings of late. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace and listening to the birds, there is also a handy little bar for drinks and refreshments. Breakfast the next day was a delight! Plenty of juice, cereal, jams, and home-made carrot cake! The cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious and excellent ingredients speak for themselves, there was not a thing I could criticize. I would also like to leave a specific thanks on behalf of my wife, who struggles with certain foods and requested purely eggs and toast - after we made the initial request the staff didn't bat an eye and kept the toast coming until she'd practically stuffed herself! We chose this hotel for it's proximity to Cadbury world, and it was an incredibly leisurely stroll not far down the road, but our brief stay at the Old Farm ended up being an equally delightful part of the trip; we would definitely stay again!

We stayed here for two nights following an operation so that we could be close to my surgeon. The hotel has some character, it’s certainly different to the many tower block hotels in the area which makes a nice change. It has a cottage feel, but everything is clean and mostly modern. We opted for a larger room as my mobility was restricted, it was a good sized room with an en-suite and our windows looked out over the garden area which is very pleasant. The room was nicely decorated and very clean. There’s also a little bar area downstairs with a few tables and a range of drinks and a lovely fresh looking dining area. I believe they only do breakfast food, however the staff offered us a table and plates and cutlery when we ordered a takeaway which was a nice touch. We will definitely return again as it was quite peaceful considering you’re in a bustling city, a very reasonable price and also offers free parking. There isn’t anything not to like! (P.S one thing to note is that a nearby church rings it’s bells every hour throughout the night. Of course, nothing to do with the hotel, but it did keep waking me up!)

The room was ok , but the food was terrible! I didn’t eat my fry because it looked pre cooked to me . I just asked for cornflakes instead. Which were wither really cheap or stale . I left and went out to smoke when the owner came out and asked me about the food . She was very snotty and rude , arguing with me. Telling me she was offended and was unapologetic like I had been the rude one not her . Then on checking out the next day the other owner came out and asked us to explain a picture on his phone . He said that it was our room and showed me a tea stain on the wall. There was a tiny bin under the table and Obviously he couldn’t prove it was us but was rude non the less . He asked me but I ignored him , he then turned to my husband and asked if he could explain it. Basically they turned snarky and rude because I took a picture of my fry and the owner didn’t like it .

We recently booked the restaurant/dining room for a family wake. From the first time we contacted the hotel we were really impressed with how helpful and pleasant the staff were. Cannot comment on the rooms but the parts of the hotel were have experience of were spotless. The food the hotel supplied was excellent and much appreciated. There is a small bar and although small it is extremely well stocked. At the back of the hotel is a really pleasant enclosed garden that you can't see from the road, a really nice nice place to be when the sun is shining. If you are visiting the area I would suggest giving this hotel a visit from the impression they made on us it would be a shame not too.

I stayed at the old farm hotel whilst on a business trip. The hotel is conveniently placed near the train station and a short walk from good quality independent food establishments. The staff were very accommodating and went the extra mile to make me feel comfortable and welcome. The hotel and room were immaculately clean and freshly decorated. There is a very well stocked bar surrounded by armchairs overlooking the well maintained gardens. The bed was new and extremely comfortable and the room was well equipped with wi-fi, smart TV, toiletries etc. The breakfast was also to an excellent standard with a great selection of hot and cold food and good quality fresh coffee. Would highly recommend and would stay there again.

Nicky and Steve made us most welcome when we visited their beautiful and spotlessly clean hotel. Myself and three of my daughters stayed for two nights whilst in Birmingham for Mum’s funeral. Our rooms were comfortable and had everything you need. Breakfast was ample and sufficient! Great value for money. We held Mum’s wake at the hotel too.The funeral tea was gorgeous and more than enough and was also great value! As it was such a beautiful sunny day we congregated on the decking, next to a well stocked bar, and in the beautifully kept gardens! This hotel is a little gem of an oasis in a busy city suburb, very peaceful and tranquil!

I stayed at this lovely hotel two years ago and couldn’t help but return during my most recent one week visit to Bournville. The owner management has changed but it remains a very comfortable, professional and relaxing hotel. I am already planning to stay here during my next trip to England. The morning breakfast is delightful - and the evening lounge bar area is filled with travelers who likewise found this to be an outstanding hotel in the heart of Bournville. This hotel is an absolute must for folks traveling to Cadbury World and nearby environs. Just wish I could’ve stayed until the Brits finally resolved the Brexit issue!!! Thanks again to the wonderful owner and fabulous staff!!

Booked two rooms for the family. On reporting that both radiators were Cold we were told that they were aware of the problem and that there was an electric radiator in one of the rooms and to use that! Two rooms both on suite and one electric radiator. My wife managed to get us moved to another room but my son was left in the cold as it were. I transferred the only radiator to his room but this is not good enough really. We had booked well in advance, they were aware that those two rooms had no heat and yet they put a family in them when another room is empty. Not recommended and no way to treat a family. I wouldn't have given any stars but google doesn't allow that.

Used the hotel for a wake after a family funeral on Friday 29th November. A big thank you to Nickki and the whole team for helping to make the afternoon such a nice relaxing celebration of our Dads life.....lovely friendly staff with an excellent selection of food, much of it home made it looked and tasted like......large tv allowing us to have a musical and visual tribute to Dad’s life, would thoroughly recommend the venue and team to anyone seeking a pleasant, friendly venue to hold any family occasion, many thanks Irene B and family xx

Nice hotel set in the beautiful surroundings of Bournville village. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room and bed was comfortable, nice touches included Cadbury’s drinking chocolate as well as the usual tea, coffee and biscuit facilities. Towels and complementary toiletries nicely laid out on the bed. Good washing and shower facilities. Breakfast was chosen the evening before from a comprehensive lists of cooked breakfast items, continental breakfast, fruit and cereals were also available. Old Farm Hotel Is ideally placed for a visit to Cadbury World which is close at hand across the road!

I'm so impressed with this hotel. Everything is immaculate - completely spotless in fact. The linen is of a high quality and perfectly ironed. The room was just gorgeous, with a lovely view to the gardens below which are beautifully kept. All staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast was incredible! Help yourself to cereals, yoghurts, home made cakes and fruit. A full English follows. More toast was brought on request. I loved staying here and would not hesitate to recommend. I had room 2, which is upstairs.

Good friendly hosts. We weren't sure what time breakfast started, as we didn't find any information in our room or entrance area. Lovely location in a quiet area, just across from Cadbury world. Only a few local shops, which adds to the lovely village area. I wasn't quite sure what time the b&b bar was open. The train station is a small walk. (Manned). Will book again when in the area.

Expensive, uncomfortable atmosphere. Our room OK, small but hot due to hot water pipes around room. Towels only changed after three nights and we had to ask twice. Management seemed stressed and or unhappy. Bar useful as no nearby pubs or licensed restaurants.

2 of us stayed in room 8, a cosy room downstairs with en suite, comfortable double bed with plenty of different sized pillows to choose from we slept very well. Tea coffee and biscuits in the room. An old building but everything was clean, quality thick towels. Large wall mounted tv, dressing table and hairdryer. Cooked breakfast to order the night before and continental very happy. Friendly staff available to help all hours. Licenced bar could be a bit bigger. Overall very happy thanks

Lovely homely hotel in the heart of Bournville just opposite Cadbury’s chocolate factory sports fields Reasonably priced and fully recommend - rooms very clean and security very high standard Ample car parking spaces at front of property and train station 10 minute walk away giving easy access into Birmingham city centre only approx 10 minutes ride on the train The full English breakfast is a delight and views from the rear of property including garden is amazingly leafy

This hotel will provide you an experience of the famed Bournville hospitality of yesteryear. The staff are amazing and genuinely want to help. The place has a homely feel to it and I prefer it over the 4 and 5 star hotels in the city centre. The breakfast is freshly cooked and beats anything you'd get in the city centre. Absolutely amazing place, always first choice when working in Brum.

Traveled from scarborough to the old farm hotel, unfortunately not for pleasure purposes, we was greeted by the most warm and welcoming staff, they allowed us into our rooms 3 hours early to get ready, nothing we asked was to much trouble, I would definitely use the old farm hotel again, and if any 1 needs any where to stay i would highly recommend this place, again thankyou for all you have done Kindest regards carl, Lucy, Debi and Rob Davis 5*

Delightful hotel in pleasant city location, not right in the centre of Birmingham it is close to Bourneville and Bourneville Village. Staff here are very friendly and welcoming, the hotel is an older building pleasantly decorated and far lovelier than some of the larger hotel chains. We stayed at the start of September, so maybe quieter than it was during school holidays. Clean, fresh and very relaxing, I can't recommend this hotel enough.

  • Jackie Cartwright

I didn't stay here but held my mother's 'wake' here following her funeral on 12th February 2020. Choice of menu's were superb. All dietary requirements were offered. The staff were absolutely wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. They even provided a PowerPoint presentation showing our favourite photos of Mum. Definitely recommend this venue. Please give it consideration.

Excellent! We used the hotel to hold refreshments after a funeral which took place 11th Oct. The food was amazing and plenty of it. Beautiful sandwiches and large variety of food all of which were presented and cooked to perfection. The cakes and scones were an absolute delight. All staff worked extremely hard and could not do enough for us. Beautiful grounds too, very relaxed atmosphere . Thank you to Nikki and all the staff!

  • Jade O'Riordan

Such a lovely place to stay with wonderful and friendly staff. We stayed for two nights and we had my Nan’s wake here. The grounds are beautiful and there really is a peaceful country-vibe to the place. The breakfast is so worth it, it was delicious and the bar is well-stocked! Thank you so much for making our stay so comfortable.

Great little hotel just a small walk away from Cadbury factory and restaurants. You can hire a scooter if you wish to travel further for a small fee. The hotel owners are very nice and there is a small bar and large garden to relax in. Rooms are quite small but clean with everything you need. Shower is a power shower and is excellent. Will definitely be visiting again.

Just a few minutes walk from Cadbury World and Bourneville village this hotel is very conveniently located. Our room is comfy and there's free parking. We arrived late last night and found the receptionist and staff charming and generous with the complimentary coffee, tea, Cadburys drinking chocolate and biscuits. All in all, quite a find!
