Went there in a group of 3 and had never been here before. my sister ordered the park avenue special sandwich and she didn't know there was multiple options for that special, the employee who 'helped' us was a petite woman who had red hair and bangs, and after we all ordered, she gave my sister her drink, I waited a second to see if she was gonna give me mine or bring to me later on becase she had no communication skills whatsoever and she looked at me like I was stupid and said "well are you gonna get something else?" The food and coffee was delicious, I had the turkey and Swiss BLT with my coffee. When it came to the end of the meal, we had gotten up and she walked by and said "You need to clean up your table and put the dishes in the tub over there." Being surprised by the comment I said "what?" To make sure I heard her clearly, she then coming closer repeated the same comment. which I felt was quite rude considering there was 2 other tables was left with dishes which she said nothing about to those customers and I felt a little upset paying someone else, and still doing part of their job to clean up the whole table. Overall she had a blatantly rude attitude that ruined the whole experience

I came prior to 8am, at 755am so not early, and many people were in the restaurant eating, and there were customers that ordered after me. I paid with a card, and I was told that they didn't have the cramberry sauce for my Turkey Sandwich only after I waited 10 minutes I waited another 15 minutes and I overheard them talking about me so I walked over and asked what was going on. They handed me $22 in cash, which was less than i paid but only by some change. And then they said that the kitchen was closed. I don't know about you, but it felt 1950s racism to the me. There were already people eating when I walked in so the response to this post is a lie.

This place goes above and beyond to accommodate for customers ON TOP of having amazing food and drinks. For instance, when I stopped in today, I got the wrong drink and was unable to get it remade as I was running late for class. They remembered my drink order over 2 hours later and were able to make it for me without question or charge, even when the shifts had changed and it was new people taking orders. I really love the customer service here. On top of this, the cafe has such a nice atmosphere and the owner of the cafe is there on a daily basis and really gets to know the customers first hand. It's so hard to find a place like this in Portland. Park Avenue Cafe is truly a gem!

Don't order to go. This is the 2nd time our office ordered via grub hub. The first time, everything was great so we decided to order again. Unfortunately many mistakes were made the 2nd time. They didn't label any of our orders (so we had to guess what belonged to whom), and they randomly put onions on one of the salads. Unfortunately that person has an onion allergy. When they called Park Avenue to correct it, they wouldn't take responsibility. They said they don't put onions on their salads and tried blaming it on the Grub Hub deliverer! Seriously?! Never again will we order from them. Worst customer service!

Would have been nice to have some menu clarity. The wraps are all hot, and while you can customize what’s inside they will not make it cold. I asked them to remake it and a thin white boy in a red shirt said no, making the girl in the kitchen deal with telling me no rather than talk to me himself. I wish I had taken a picture because I only took two bites and was incredibly polite about asking it be remade. I ask for a refund, which thankfully they gave me, but other than being a cute shop that was the grossest palate switcheroo anyone has played on me has played on me in a long time. Worst white people slop I’ve been surprised by, do better.

Instrumental music, you don't have to be distracted by a singer whose lyrics gou either agree with or don't agree with. It was fast jazz one day and classical music the next. The hot chocolates are good, the breakfast burrito was good too. Good chill place to read a book or connect to wifi for a moment. Cool breeze outside, huge enormous trees towering in the sidewalk along the Park Blocks. Definitely one of Oregon's selling points: that we have been able to carefully keep a forest growing within our city. The service was nice. Make sure to tell them before you give them your card that you want to add a tip!

I went on a Sunday morning around 10 AM I think and it was pretty quiet. The subtle sound of a piano you could just barely hear in the background, somebody typing on their laptop and very little chatter, if people were talking, they were doing so quietly. I don’t know if this is normal for this spot. It’s a little too quiet for my taste, but some people like that. The food was tasty. I got the veggie wrap and a chai tea. The people working there were nice. If you have to go to the bathroom, there is a key at the cashier’s desk. I thought someone was in there, so I was waiting.. until I saw someone go in with the key. Overall, would recommend and would go back.

Such a charming, cozy cafe. I'm not generally a huge fan of cafes, I feel the market is flooded with them, but I'll consider this place an exception. You can tell even without reading it in the menu that everything is made in house. The pasta, the pastries, even the bread for your toast. The coffees are rich and beautiful. The salmon lox is delicious too. My favorite spot is next to the window underneath the Open sign so I get the mix of flora, wood, and a soft neon glow. Such a great place to relax.

I'm a regular here. Basic breakfast offered and fair coffee but an excellent space and vibe. I would suggest a few things, if I may, that the staff smile more or have a better sense of care as Baristas/Servers; add actual loose tea; improve the croissant breakfast sandwich; & mute the soccer games on the tv, it is a cafe after all. The chili is great! And always plenty of seating, even when busy. They have outdoor seating, too, so you can stop by while walking your dog around the park nearby. I will keep going but I do hope for them to become more excellent not just 'good enough'. Cheers.

  • Anne Louise

Lovely cafe serving food, coffee, and tea. Nice place to do computer work...I enjoy the atmosphere here and their americano is really good. I just wish they would have more plug outlets but that’s it really. Food is excellent here. The seating is a bit tight but no one seems to mind scooting about to let you in. I noticed that most people are coming to stay awhile with their laptop, not too much quick in and out probably do to the tight seating. The servers are very friendly, and are ok with well behaved dogs which is a sure way to make a repeat customer out of me.

  • M W

Eggs Benedict. I love eggs benedict and I my goal is to try them all. :) Park Ave Cafe offers a H.A.T benedict (Ham, Avocado, Tomato) and a smoked salmon. I have tried the HAT Benedict twice within a month or so. The first time, it was perfect (eggs cooked perfectly, still warm). Then the other day ... it was not perfect at all... it came to me cold, the eggs were overcooked (hardened yolk) and there was an egg shell in the egg. It was quite awful and I felt terrible for spending $13 on the meal. So, now I'll just go to the Daily Feast instead.

I go to this cafe a lot of times specially because I live near by and I’m very glad that i do live by, because this place is very good for breakfast or lunch or to have coffee and dessert, I absolutely recommend.

Love this little Cafe!! The environment was lovely, the waitress was very sweet and friendly. We got an Oregon Chai Tea and a Hot Chocolate to drink—they were delicious! The food was great, too. We ordered some potato salad, tomato basil soup, and the day’s special: a freshly made grilled steak sandwich with chipotle sauce, mozzarella, grilled mushrooms and peppers, all on top of a soft ciabatta bun. For dessert we chose the blueberry cheesecake. It was all spectacular! Thank you Park Avenue Cafe!

  • Jacob Porter

Incredibly hostile, snooty staff. Asked to use the restroom, looked me up and down and decided I wasn’t worthy of being a customer. Definitely a great way to ensure they’ll have no customers in future. ETA: despite the owner’s claims, I did not say that I wasn’t a customer or that I wouldn’t be buying anything. They rejected me flat out before I had the chance to form any words. I will not be back in future so no worries about the inconvenience.

  • Josh Jupiter

Nothing is worse than having a latte and a snack, hanging at a cafe for an hour, having 'to go', and then being told you can not use their rest room. Apparently one of the rest rooms is broken, and the other is for employees only. I get it, that it's Covid and it's downtown PDX. But that's bad business. And if Portland wants tourists to return to the city and bring money into the economy, it's experiences like this that will damage the recovery.

  • Thomas San Francisco

Good coffees start off the morning right with a bagel and cream cheese. Later enjoy a latte with the turkey pesto avocado sandwich delicious when you ask for the bread to be toasted. My friend the carnivore wolfed down his steak pita and order a second one. They made good salads to go alone with the sandwiches, pitas, and wraps. With classic music in the background this spacious setting is good for a business lunch or romantic date.

  • N F

*Update - owner has taken to only filling coffee latté's up half full (have to ask to get it to top). Has happened a few times now & have decided not to return as a regular customer. Lavazza drip coffee is excellent, & watching the world saunter by out front is lovely, but with an, oftentimes, rude owner & a price increase (if you're going to charge $4.50 for a latté, full cup would be nice) I don't enjoy it as much as I used to.

  • Max Lemonds

i come here often as im in the neighborhood. I love the food, drinks, and atmosphere. But seriously, this staff absolutely blows it from time to time. A simple bagel sandwhich should not take 20mins to make. I can tell the owner is a cheapskate from other experiences ive had here, and seems he deliberately hires cheap labor that is not worth tipping. I hope they get it together because this place truly has much more potential

  • Emma Vandehey

Came here twice in one week because I like the spot to study. Both times my coffee was forgotten about. When I asked for my coffee and told the man working the machine, assumably the owner or manager, that this was the second time that my coffee was forgotten he responded with “hm. Must be you.” Not going to spend money at a place that has no sense of customer service or a place that can’t take responsibility for screwing up.

  • Joanne Kryszek

This is my absolute favorite coffee shop!!! They use illy coffee from Italy for their drip and espresso coffee drinks. And the food, service and space are just perfect.

Park Avenue Cafe a cozy corner of productivity and great food. Its not too pricy and still maintains good quality. For an 8oz coffee it'll run you $2.25. Which is a lot cheaper than most and it still tastes just as good. Great if you need to sit down and be productive. And great for when you just need a quick bite and coffee to go.

Customer service is sub-par. Terse and chilly demeanor from clerk. Order was a bagel and cream cheese, took 20 minutes with no queue, and given the wrong bagel. Clerk decided the coffee filters and counting pennies took higher priority. If resting scowl face was a sport, all of the employees would win gold in the team competition. Bagel was tasty, though, so they've got that going for them.

  • Nathan Ruddick

Phenomenal little place for a bagel sandwich and coffee. The lunch there is pretty good too, and I'd have to say everything is fairly priced. Love the dark ambience within the cafe. Definitely one of my go-to spots for breakfast or lunch. Usually busy, but the customer service is great and they are efficient.

If this is about experience, I recently attempted to dine here for some lunch and the employees (the owner and a woman) did not even acknowledge my existence as two stood in front of me. My opinion, a little customer service training "hi, I'll be right with you" or (eye contact) would serve this place. I waited for 6 minutes. Cool. I heard the soup is good though...you won't see me there.

First time here, I really like the menu. It's not all over the place, they have a clear theme of cafe with some specialties which is nice. The coffee is good too, I always get a mocha and many places use terrible coffee that tastes burnt no matter how much chocolate they put in it. This one was good, I drank it so fast I had to order another one--don't tell my doctor lol

The food was ok. They were out of croissants and didn't tell us until well after we ordered. Then they served three of our four sandwiches, and seemed like they forgot our 4th. Took them another 10 minutes to bring out the 4th sandwich. They didn't have much of a customer service attitude and seemed blasé about the whole thing. I wasn't impressed.

  • Meredith Deneweth

Never get the correct order. Seriously every time its wrong. The menu (the one posted IN the restaurant and on sandwich board outside) is apparently "outdated" and does not match what is in the cash register. Employees dont care either. They run out of common menu items frequently.. that doesnt matter because you always get a random item anyway.

Good food selection with fresh ingredients, this unfortunately leads to them running out of some items most days. Haven't tried any drinks. Cooking time is a little slow at times but it seems to be because they rely heavily on a few all star team members to do a lot of multitasking. Overall, very satisfied.

Good coffee and yummy sweets. Great spot to relax. Unfortunately, though, I got pretty bad food poisoning after having one of their sandwiches (the ham & swiss sandwich). I'd go again and have a coffee, but I'll be avoiding the sandwiches and lunch meat.

Tried the tomato mushroom soup and a blueberry bagel. The soup was absolutely delicious, rich and creamy. And the bagel was good as well. The location of the cafe is awesome, very green area with outdoor seating as well. And its inside the PSU region, so it’ll be a regular haunt of mine.

Good coffee drinks. Made with elly Italian coffee. The food offerings are mostly Mediterranean Influenced and are quite good. Where they kind of fall down Is their bakery selection. Not that many items to choose from and the clerks don't even know what is in most of the bakery items.

This cafe is always in the right place when you’re at the waterfront and need something to eat or drink. I’ve been going her for years, wether you need coffee or a sandwich you’ll find what you need here while enjoying a walk down the promenade.

Best coffee I've ever had. Very nice environment with incredible music. Usually playing classical music, jazz or low tempo rnb. The staff is fantastic and prompt. Plenty of room if you wanted to have a meeting of 6 with colleagues or friends.

  • D Eason

It's warm and welcoming and an important alternative to the ten trillion Starbucks in and around campus. They have simple comfort food, plus there's usually some good Middle Eastern fare. And personally I think their cappuccinos are terrific.

Very quaint coffee stop with friendly staff. Had their bowl of fresh fruit, and all (blueberries, melon, strawberries, grapes) was exceptional and, well, fresh! Also liked the location being immediately adjacent to Portland State University.

Whenever I come downtown to the parks area for the farmers market or just to take Lucy for a walk, I get a mocha and a ham and swiss bagel sandwich. Delicious!!!

I tried their Chai Tea Latte and it was great. A bit on the sweeter side for me though. Plenty seating options and outdoors seating with views of the Park.

Lovely cafe 3 blocks from the Portland Art Museum. High quality food and nice ambience with a courteous staff. Blue line street car stop 1/2 block.

Good greek salad and gyros. But no longer have the special combined plate. So though the food is very good, probably will go elsewhere for my gyros

Lovely workers, always pleasant - I can only comment on the salmon Benedict because it is so good I always get it - it’s a great meal
