I have been to this location a few times. The associates are mad young so maybe they dont care. They never ask for my number. The associates are rude and fake. Today I went to buy food for my pets. The associate did not ask for my phone number again. I told her my number, she apologized and said they ask but she was frazzled. I told her that I noticed this location never asks for my number when I buy food here. She said they usually do. I told her they dont and I have my reciepts and she must have been tired and exhausted because she threw my bag and then apologized. I only come to this location because it is close to my parents home but I will no longer be coming to this location. I think pet valu needs to train their employees or screen them better, maybe give them more breaks. Maybe working minimum wage in this pandemic, on your feet the whole time and customers that come back for returns is stressful and I can sympathize but I have passed this stage in life. I noticed this associate do transactions for 2 customers before me (yes I had to wait eventhough there was 3 associates on the floor). One customer came back to do a refund because this associate did not process it correctly. I have worked in multiple customer service jobs so I know it is stressful but throwing a customer's purchases and then apologizing is not how a loyal customer should be treated, nor was I trained to do this, if my managers ever heard about me doing this, I would be out of a job so fast. I will not be returning (even if my pets are starving and I am in the area) or telling my friends and family how good this location is because it is not. Respect should be given and the customer's word of mouth is pretty powerful. I guarantee I will not boost about how well trained and treated these clearly young and inexperienced associates are.

If you have children do not visit this location. This location is NOT kid friendly at all. On Tuesday, May 30 2023, at around 7:15pm. My son and I approached this Pet Valu to purchase a few items for our dog. To our surprised there was a little white and brown cat sitting at the door inside the store. My son absolutely loves cats and he was in awe! He was crunched down looking at the cat from the outside of the store he wasn’t touching the glass or nothing he was just looking at the cat. All of a sudden one of the employees aggressively approached the door and snatched the cat up while giving my FOUR YEAR OLD the filthiest look. She then aggressively turned around and walked away with the cat in her hands. I would like to applaud this employee and hope giving a four year old a dirty look helps her to sleep better at night and she is lucky I chose to walk away and did not enter the store. Needless to say I did not go into the store after that and I spent my money at another competing pet store who’s employees are kind and treat children appropriately. I will never step foot into this location and advice you do the same if you have children unless you want this aggressive employee who clearly finds joy in bullying children. Please educate your employees this behaviour is NOT okay. Also, I’m only giving you a 1 because 0 is not an option.

After reading the good reviews on this location, i decided to come here for my pet food. Turns out, the previous reviews are very deceiving. The customer service here is awful. I always have to order in the special brand of food for my dogs. I always make the special orders and they never call me when they arrive and end up selling it to OTHER people. The manager Anna is awful and needs to be spoken to about this. The guy who works there will give you fake promises and the manager will just say that she “understands” and is “sorry” when you make complaints. I’ve said this multiple of times (6 times to be exact) and there is no change. Any other Pet Valu location does not give fake promises to their loyal customers and I’m surprised with the horrible service at this location. The PetValu location at Centre st is fairly close and will give you no problem with your orders. Avoid this location at all costs if you value your time and love your pets, you will not get the food/care for your pets here.

The ladies were phenomenal in helping me choose various products I needed to ensure my critters have a great habitat. The process at the store itself was very well organized - you call the store, you're put in a cue, a line up is taped on the ground to ensure 6ft+ spacing, plus chalk on the ground to outline distance around their doors. They call you back promptly after they physically bring up your order. You pay via tap (through the glass door) or credit card/pin on the machine, which they wipe down. For my larger purchase, the lady helped me load everything in my car, being aware of social distancing. Her demeanor was very kind, and she was so helpful! I will add pictures once we set of our cage and get our rat girls homes! Thank you! ❤️❤️

I came to this pet valu location for the first time to find some products for my puppy. I explained the issue my puppy was having to the employee working. She said that she never heard of this issue before (which my vet said was very common) and could not suggest any solutions. She then yelled to her colleague across the store to ask if she heard of this issue. Both employees then approached me and asked if there's anything wrong with my puppy or if she had any accidents. This made me feel very uncomfortable. The employees were very abnoxious and laughing amongst themselves about my puppies issue. I immediately left the store. I am very dissapointed with this level of service. When it comes to my pet, I would hope to deal with people that are more compassionate and empathetic. They were very rude and unprofessional. Please keep your ignorent thoughts to yourself.

My go-to pet valu!! Staff is always so lovely and helpful, shout-out to Trisha for all the yummy treats she gave to my Ravi, and the other lady… I think her name was Anne? My pup fell in love with her the last time we went! Keep up the great work :)) EDIT: I visited petvalu yesterday to get burs out of my pup’s tail. The groomers were not successful to comb out the burs so I headed over here to make an attempt myself. My pup was extremely anxious although DONALD was AMAZING at holding my pup comfortably so I could snip out the burs and discard them safely. He went above and beyond using his vet tech skills to ensure a very fast and safe execution to remove the burs. Very professional, and 10/10 customer service. My rescue dog ( 2years old ) has severe anxiety and I don’t trust just anyone to handle him. Donald was incredible! Thank you again !!!!

I was served by a lovely young lady who ran into trouble due to the mispricing in the cash register. When she asked for help, the person in charge came over and was rude. She told me I did not need to speak in a loud voice. I told her I can't hear well and sometimes do, unintentionally. I never spoke to her until I explained my hearing problem. She called me a liar and claimed I was rude to the other sales girl. We both told her I wasn't rude to her. She said she could tell I had "bad energy" when I walked in! What is wrong with some salespeople? I'm not well. I'm disabled and this is how you treat a customer?! I've been in before, this will be the last time. Next time,I'll go out of my way to Disera Drive Pet Value, where customers are treated better or even PetSmart, and I'll be sure to blog of my experience there.

I ran into Pet Valu Dufferin and Steeles because I had run out of training pads. The first thing I see upon arrival is Naquan (I hope I got his name right. My apologies if I didn't) holding the door for a customer who was leaving. When I got inside I was fortunate enough to have him help me. Not only did he take me to the isle where the items I needed were located, he helped me the entire time. He was knowledgeable and caring. When the only package in stock were a huge bag of pads for $50, which was way too much for my needs, he went to the back where pads were kept and made me up what I needed for a nominal fee. Talk about going above and beyond for the customer. Such a pleasure. We need more like this young man in the service industry.

Short Version: they will FINE you, and then KICK you OUT if they think your pet is untidy. Long version: *I might sound objective but shop at your own risk. No notices/warnings of any kind when making the reservation on the phone. When I checked in for a wash, I was told I have to disclose if my dog was skunked in last 2 weeks. I have waited full 2 weeks keeping my dog at home, so I thought I’m good. They didn’t smell anything either at the moment. Then when I was doing the washing, an angry dude came up and said we messed the store up. When we were checking out, they told me that to compensate the store, I was fined double the price, and I should leave and never coming back. This is a store run by people like this.

I went to this location for dog food and was disappointed to find that no one properly knew how to help me, the advice the manager Anna gave me wasn't what I would expect from a so called "pet expert" she made it seem like she didn't care if I left to another pet store, she was very abrupt and rude, this left me feeling very upset that I couldn't rely on my local pet store for my needs...After looking at the reviews I noticed there are multiple complaints about her and still nothing has been done. Either the owner doesn't care or isn't in the store enough to realize their hiring mistake I don't think I'll be back until management changes

Great, knowledgeable friendly staff, will help you with whatever you need. Organized and clutter free store. Always have deals going on - make sure to sign up for their rewards program for discounts. The girls that work there are starting to remember me. They have brands that even Pet Smart may not carry. Majority of cat furniture there is hand made and imported from Quebec and will come disassembled. Plenty of parking, handy-cap friendly entrance and will provide shopping bags. Please note, pets are not sold at this location! Has pet supplies for any household animal.

I believe it’s under new (Dufferin & Steeles ) management??? I have never been spoken to so disrespectfully , My dogs food was not in stock She told me they have a bag at Bathurst & Richmond hill! I said: what’s the cross street at Bathurst? She said RICHMOND HILL ME: That’s the area, do you know the cross st? She : RICHMOND HILL ME: there is No street Richmond hill That’s the area Do you have the address? To which she yelled I Didn’t say it was a street ME: shacking my head in total disbelief Said & you walk amongst us They just lost a good customer

Today we came to this location at steeles/ markham road with my 15 year old pom for a wash with my girlfriend. We were greeted by Malvin who was very friendly and professional. He even helped us clean the clog after our wash for our dog and asked if he could give my dog some treats after the wash! My dog was cold after the shower and while we did our shopping, they let us hold our dog in a clean towel they provided until he was fully dried. Thank you Malvin! We will return again for sure for the service you provided!

Great Service! I loved the extra ease and convenience of ordering ahead to avoid being in contact with other customers during this time! We honestly enjoy coming to this location. All the staff, and especially Anna, all go out of their way to ensure a great shopping experience for both me and my dog. We look forward to our visit- they are always friendly and have great suggestions to help find the right products! They truly care about my dog and they always remember his name! Amazing!!!!

A couple weeks ago I came in to get bird food and Emily was incredible! not only did she bring the food I asked for but she recommended so many products that were amazing, she brought over almost every product and helped me choose the right ones for my bird. She gave me amazing advice about how to prepare for having a new pet and how to care for it. I definitely recommend any new bird owners go talk to Emily. Excellent service from her!

My cat got a really strong allergy for a food I got from Petvalue. It took me some time /energy /money to find out what was the problem. When i got there the store staff refused to exchange it as it was a bit longer then 30 days . They were rude & keep the bag with open food for themselves as well. I almost lost my cat, money I spend on this food/doctor/analysis. I'll never coming back there & wouldn't recommend this chain of stores.

My girlfriend and I came in to groom our dog and we were helped by an extremely professional and delightful man named Donald, an employee who is the definition of good customer service! His knowledge on dog behaviour helped us incredibly by safely grooming our dog. Having a pup with anxiety makes it difficult to find people with enough patience to work with him, though Donald was our match made in heaven :) We will surely be back!!

As an owner of two puppies and a cat, I absolutely love Pet Valu! They provide a great selection of products at amazing prices. The staff are super friendly and exceptionally knowledgeable. All of my experiences shopping at this location have been positive (online orders, calling, curb-side, and in-store shopping). I also appreciate the COVID-19 precautions this store and its staff take. I always feel very comfortable and safe.

The service at this location is lacking. The young man today didn't smile once, wasn't able to apply my coupon to my purchase, didn'task if I had an account and I asked him a product question and his reply was "I dont know, if you don't see it then we don't carry it". He desperately needs to be trained in customer service and change his attitude and outlook towards his job. I will not return to this location again.

The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. The girls at customer service in particular were very accommodating and familiar with store merchandise. My only concern, although slight, was the backdoor being left opened; personally I found it unprofessional and disorienting as a customer to be able to view the warehouse. Overall though, I enjoyed my experience :))

I’m getting a toy poodle puppy soon so I needed all the puppy essentials. This is my first dog and over the weekend Rebekah was very friendly and patient (regardless of the store closing in about 10 minutes) and explained all the essential pet products from her personal experience. Will definitely be retuning to this location with my new puppy.

These guys are very helpful and answered all of my questions. They had great suggestions for how to feed 3 different cats 3 different foods. They also have excellent COVID protocols in place. I will be back here for sure. They also had lots of the food my vet recommended that I couldn't find in 2 other stores.

I went to the store, and without prompting (just by seeing the weight loss food in my cart), the employees told me exactly why my cats were overweight and how to fix it. Honestly, I believe they have wonderful service at this place and the employees are very knowledgeable.
