They need more training before I can trust them again. I got my water tested and was told only my ammonia levels were a little high, so all I needed to do was feed them less, change my water, and buy bacteria to de-stress my fish. I followed his instructions to a T, and within two weeks three of my fish had died. To make matters worse, two of them were my FAVORITES. So I took matters into my own hands and tested my own water. The PH levels were OFF THE CHARTS. Either their aquatics expert is an idiot and can't read basic water testing kits, or he was trained improperly and recommended the wrong product. Today I walked back into the store and talked to the manager. All she did was look sad, say she'd talk to him, and then immediately jump to "I hope this doesn't deter you from shopping here in the future." I promptly walked out to my car, and drove across the parking lot to Petco to get new filters. And I cried. I cried while driving, I cried while parked in front of Petco, and I cried IN Petco. My pets died due to her team's incompetence, my BABIES, and all she cared about was "plz keep giving us money." That's the last time I ever step into a PetSmart. I've always gotten better help from Petco, and they have a better selection anyway. Who knows, maybe in a few months they'll have trained their employees better. But I highly discourage anyone with fish from shopping at this PetSmart for a while.

The first time we had our dog groomed here they apparently didn't actually log any of his information into the system so the next time we had to start over with setting up his account and bringing in his rabies vaccine paperwork etc. Okay, that really isn't that big of a deal except it shows they are unorganized. The first time he just needed a bath so there really wasn't anything much to report. The second time, however, we specifically told them we wanted him bathed, ears cleaned, and NO NAIL TRIMMING. He runs on the rocks and sidewalks frequently and that keeps them trimmed well. After they take nearly 4 hours to do a basic wash and ear cleaning we pick him up to find that his ears were not cleaned nearly well enough, if at all. Not to mention that his nails were trimmed so short that they were split and causing him great pain so much so that we had to go home and file the shards off and superglue his nail so it didn't hurt him. We called them to complain that they clearly didn't even listen to our instruction and they couldn't possibly have cared less. I have never had the displeasure of doing business with such inattentive, uncaring, and apathetic dog groomers in my life. I will NEVER take my dog back here again.

I showed up at 8:45 and asked an older woman employee where to find my dog's prescription food. After failing to acknowledge me as I showed her my veterinarian's prescription slip, she refused to sell me the food saying that I needed a Banner medical card. My vet has never told me I needed "this card" nor had I ever had any other employee at any other (3+) locations ask for this, she let me know all those locations were doing it wrong. (I've been getting this food at multiple stores for 6+ months this way) When I explained that my dog was out of food, because I worked all day before they even open, and she couldn't eat anything else for the night to take her insulin she let me know it wasn't her problem. Attached is a picture that doesn't state anywhere on their website that they needed what she asked for, just a prescription slip, which I provided. Don't work in customer care if you don't have any compassion/empathy let alone know your own policies. Long story short I risked a speeding ticket to make it to another location with no issue, with the same prescription slip.

My dog has been a client of Petsmart since the were on the previous location 5011 E Ray Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85044 for over 5 years. With that being said, every time I brought my pet to get her nails trim, they seem to loose her vaccine information, which I obtain for them in several occasions previously. Needless to say, I took my pet today once again to get her nails trim and the same sad story occur, that their computer has been having problems and they can't find my pet vaccine information, and therefore, they can't service her. I tried once again to contact my pet's veterinarian however, they were close for the day. The groomer called the manager and she proceeded to tell me the rules and regulations which I'm well aware of. Furthermore, I advised them that we weren't returning for future business since they can't keep their medical records in order, and hire professional staff that are capable of entering the proper information in their system. Unquestionably, I took my pet elsewhere.

DON'T BRING YOUR SWEET PET HERE!!! LIARS WORK HERE. HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT!!! One wk ago I scheduled my dog to be groomed. When we showed up for appt, I was informed that she wasn't scheduled and because all groomers had quit, there wasn't an opening for two wks. The girl there at 9 on 9/1/20 lied to me, because I know she's the person that scheduled the appt. When I inquired about a specific groomer, she did inform me she had quit. But never informed that all had quit! She stated she and another girl are from another petsmart that have volunteered to fill in. So as of this date this busy store has only one groomer and another person to bathe the pets. I was then lied to by store staff. Saying because of covid they couldn't staff more groomers. Thats another lie. I called two other petsmarts that have multiple groomers available with the same size grooming space. DON'T USE THIS STORE TILL UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!!

I've shopped here for 20+ years and today was my first ever disappointment. Had a bag of pet food thay hatched worms after a couple of days of being opened...gross. Being as I worked in the veterinary drug and supply business for 30+ years (Chewy, owned by PetSmart was a customer) I did what we always told our customers to do: I cut out the UPC/Lot#/Exp Date part of the label and brought it in with my receipt. (Being it was trash day, I got the food out of my house ASAP.) I was told that I couldn't get a refund without the product...like I was going to put that in my vehicle...more gross. The manager let me know she did me a favor and was going to let me "exchange" the food, but I had to pay the price difference because it was on sale when I originally bought it and it wasn't on sale now. Just not the customer service I expected. Can't believe they would want to bring infested product back into their stores.

I love PetSmart but this Ray Rd location was a bit tricky to maneuver. My regular PS has an electric cart I can use when shopping for my Pug. This store didn't have one, but needing only 2 items, I decided to brave it. As I headed to the section for my first item I saw the aisle was blocked by a staff worker and her cart. I instinctively skipped to the next aisle hoping to double back at the first break in the row. I was surprised to see the aisle went the entire width of the store with no break in the shelving. I sized up the distance and decided it was just too far so I went to find the second item on my list, fresh food. After placing the dog food in my cart I headed back and saw the staffer had moved on. I collected what I'd come for and I took my purchases to the front. I must mention the young lady at the register was absolutely wonderful- so cheerful, helpful and efficient. Thanks.

After a terrible experience like usual at Tempe marketplace PetSmart we drove out to Ray road PetSmart. What a difference in service!!! they were also out of the product we were looking for but Ken actually went in the back for about 5 minutes looking for it and then came out chase down a scanner scanned the tag to locate it and told us which stores had it. Then another lady called and had them put those bags aside for us. Now that's customer service the way it should be. To top it off we stopped at the Banfield desk and spoke to Shae who was an outstanding individual and went out of our way to make sure that everything was updated on our prescription card for our pet. THANK YOU! Update:. We revisited the store today and they had everything in stock unlike the other PetSmarts. Once again they shine!

Our usual store didn’t have a dog crate that we were looking for, so we went in to this petsmart, such an unnecessarily unpleasant experience. The extra large size we needed was on the top most shelf, outside of our reach and without a price tag. There was a staff member nearby trying to fuss around importantly, I ask her very courteously the price for it, when she says she’s doesn’t know… that’s it. After a brief pause I ask how can I find out, she rudely replies… it will be quite a bit. I’m confused that she’s implying that I can’t afford it. I ask what does she mean… again very rudely, I’m very busy, it will be a bit before someone can help you and walks off. This self important lady needs a lesson in customer service. A helpful employee stopped by shortly, and he helped us with what we needed.

How do you adopt cats out if we aren't allowed to see them unless a voulenteer is there? I live in Peoria and was visiting family in Tempe, my girlfriend wanted to go to petsmart so we did, and the cashier said we can only see the kittens when a voulenteer is there and to come back tomorrow, I'm not driving back out to Tempe for a kitten I wasn't even allowed to touch especially with no guarantee he will be there tomorrow because it'd be a waste if he wasn't available once I got there. Also just moved from Flagstaff where we adopted 4 cats from the Petsmart (coconino humane & the ark cat sanctuary) & the employees there will kindly let you see the kittens/cats even when a voulenteer is not available, apparently they're much more dedicated to getting animals forever homes there.

I subscribed to the Wellness Plan for both of my dogs, Pet Smart automatically deducted $75 a month for both pets, in a years time that's $900.00 I took both dogs in for annual check up, heart worms test and injection they charged me $160.00. The total payed for a single yearly check up, t$1,060.00. Date April 16,2022. I had to wait 3 hours to get my pets back after dropping them off, after paying the bill their was no review by staff or vet of my two dogs health. I canceled the Wellness Plan for both my dogs. The staff was not very pleasant. I can not recommend this Pet Smart/ Banfield Pet Care location. The service is very poor, compared to when I first started going their. The Wellness Plan is a scam in my opinion.

I appreciate the staff here so much! Never knew how attached I could get to a betta fish - but it happened. My betta got sick recently and I had no idea what to do. He was floating towards the top of the tank on his side and was having trouble swimming to the bottom. My boyfriend and I researched it and it seemed what they call bladder disease. I stopped by PetSmart to see if there was anything we could do about it and one of the managers told me everything I needed to know. She cares for a bunch of bettas and confirmed feeding them a pea a day works. I did it and a few days later, he was swimming effortlessly! I couldn't be happier and more thankful for the time this manager provided.

Terrible, lazy customer service. Went in an hour before they closed to look at potentially adopting a cat/kitten, and the volunteers walked right passed us 5 mins later as they were leaving. Apparently the store would rather see no adoption happen than a potential adoption, as the staff refused to help unless you were for sure adopting. I'm not sure how one concludes which to adopt without experiencing their temperament and personality. I feel bad for these animals, as I can't imagine how many of them miss being adopted due to a dismissive staff and their blatant lack of professionalism. If you don't want to do your job, then find a different one, or none at all.

Most people are friendly and helpful here. Was able to make appt for nail trim easily and quickly. Day of, the tech either didn't like GSD or was afraid of them. Definitely didn't want to be there and made it clear she was displeased about it. Complained before and after the appt about GSD not liking their nails trimmed. Was hesitant to leave him with someone who lacked the confidence to handle even a very well trained GSD. Did an OK job..barely nipped some of the nails off- will have to get it done by someone with more experience I guess. Unsure of the tech but have a screen shot of the invoice in case anyone wants to see it

Just got back from PetSmart in Ahwatukee without what I came for. Was told earlier in the day if I came back before 9 I could pick up a hamster for my daughter. When I arrived at 8:30 I was told the "Pet Center" was closed and I had to come back in the morning. I don't like being lied to by a cashier. Hours are clearly marked 9am-9pm. I don't blame him. The cashier was just a young kid who hasn't been taught to stand up for himself in matters of integrity. I blame the manager who instructed him to lie because they couldn't be bothered. Is how to lie to customers and lose business in your management training manual?

THe cashier Spencer was amazing and very patient with me and my pet when we were in the store. I was having a hard time finding my debit card when I tried to pay and Spencer did not rush me or get upset. Instead he was interacting with my little dog so I could focus on finding my card. As I watched him while I proceeded through the line I noticed he was attentive to every pet that came in amde sure that he handed out a treat to each one but was sure to ask for the owners consent first. Very professional. Wish I could see him more often when I come into this store.

Caution to fish keepers. Do not buy here. This stores fish area is the worst I’ve ever seen. Stop selling fish if you neglect them and let them die. Dozens and dozens of dead fish in all the tanks! Which means the rest of them are unhealthy and headed down the same path. So sad for the fish. Very disappointing. I told one associate at the front of the store in hopes someone could fix it, but she didn’t seem to know what I was talking about or care. I hope this gets turned around or this store closes the fish tanks down. Stop killing fish.

Our furry baby had a teeth cleaning appt at 8:30am. They said dont feed him. So we took him in at 8:15. I went in to get him at 2:30 thinking he should be done. The girl said they didnt start. I was so freaking upset. How could that doctor not have done the teeth cleaning when the appt they gave us was at 8:30. They said to come back at 4:30. When I picked him up his nose was scratched. They said it was from the cage they kept him in for a long time. Never going back there. And if they were busy, call me and reschedule.

I am generally not one to complain however, there was a staff member going out of her way to be rude to customers to get them out of the store. She literally came up to my husband as he was putting dog food in the basket as we were heading for the registers and she said " sir you need to head out" ...we thought that's what we were doing as she proceeded to follow us ....it was so bad the customer behind us even complained about this particular staff member to the cashier. It was so bad I likely will not be back.

I have a 10 month old standard schnauzer (Bella) and it’s almost impossible to find a groomer who does a proper “schnauzer cut”….my poor puppy has had really bad haircuts for most of her life (from other groomers). I had an appointment with Gloria yesterday for the first time, and when I came to get Bella she looked AMAZING!!! Gloria did such a wonderful job cutting Bella’s hair! She finally looks like a proper Schnauzer! I will definitely be booking all future grooming appointments with Gloria from here on out!

This location is severely falling off the scale of customer service. As you can see from other reviews the fish department is contaminated and I wouldn’t suggest anybody buying a fish from this location unless you want a dead one. Sometimes they don’t even answer the phone and when they do they will tell you they don’t do anal gland expressions anymore unless you schedule a bath. I guess you didn’t like taking people‘s money. I’ll go to Petco.

This is more for corporate policies, not this store. I tried to use the curbside pickup they've been pushing on us for 2 years and reserved half their parking spots for. I waited for 15 minutes with no update on wait time in the app, before going inside. Then their system had to "boot up" so they didn't even know I was sitting there waiting. And the website said there was two available, when there was only one so half my order was cancelled.

Nasty clerk. Whatever assistance, or questions were asked, the response in a nasty tone was "I don't know." Checked out and requested a bag for a plush cat bed. Response, "We don't have one big enough." So I asked for a clean garbage bag, to which she said, "we don't have one." Then I told her to go get one, just like the one lining the trash shew as standing next to. She huffed and went and got it but was a pain-in-the-@ss about it.

Honestly, I am very disappointed in how I was treated in the grooming area. The girls were unfriendly and unhelpful. They were unable to explain why one of my dogs was in the system and the other wasn't. If they were more helpful, I would have been more understanding. The store in general and their Banfield overall has been great and everyone there has always been helpful. That's why I am so disappointed in this experience.

The workers here are pretty friendly which is great, but I am concerned for the fish & animals though. The aquatic plants I purchased died within a week. One of the fish I purchased died within a day. Great place for picking up dog & cat essentials, but I wouldn't recommend purchasing fish or other aquatic animals. It is no secret that larger companies aren't as kind or compassionate to their animals for sale.

Worst customer service ever. Groomer proceeded to tell me that I needed to wait elsewhere because it would give my dog anxiety. Here is the skinny...my dog is a service for panic, she is going to be twice as bad not being near me doing her job! Unfortunately the staff member chose to argue with me the customer and has in turn changed my dogs groomer and pet hotel choice for life.

Reception was very friendly and helpful. Another employee came by and acknowledged me by asking if, I had been helped. Which I had already. Was just waiting for the receptionist to finish getting everything needed for my visit. It was my very first time going there and had to travel 20 minutes from my house and just the customer service alone made it worth the trip.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Came to the store 25 minutes prior to closing to buy a hamster. Waited for help which is fine since there was short staffed. However, they refused to sell us a hamster because they didn't have enough people and they were closing. Drove 45 minutes for nothing. Thanks again. Won't be coming back. I'll go to petco instead.

I've had each of my 3 dogs groomed by Gloria at the Ray Rd. Petsmart. She is an excellent groomer, and very good at handling -shall we say ""touchy"pups. My 3 are all rescue with different little neurosis and skittish about being groomed. Gloria handled each with special care and attention. She and her team at Ray Rd are highly recommended by me."

CAUTION!!!!! Fish department needs to SHUT DOWN AND STOP SELLING FISH. they must not care about the aquariums like they should. The fish are very ill and or stressed out. But im going with ill for the amount of dead and sick fish in the tanks. Walked out because I will not contaminate my aquariums due to the lack in care of this stores aquariums.

Although, we don't currently have any pets, we love stopping in this store to see the rescue kitties and to admire the fish and birds with our toddler. On occasion, we'll pick out a treat for the special pets in our lives (like Nana's puppy). The staff is always friendly and attentive. The store is clean and well organized.

I stopped by here not long before close yesterday (08/29) and the assistant was helpful. He was friendly, communicative and kept an eye out for when I was ready to check out. It was nice to interact with someone that was polite and attentive. He answered my questions, showed me an item I was looking for etc. Great service.

It was fantastic the ladies working there tonight were amazing. I explained to them how my mother dog was killing her puppies and now we are having to separate them and bottle feed. They knew exactly what to do and helped me with selecting formula and told me potty tricks. Thank you so much keep up the great work.

Store assistant lead, Whitney Wardell is unprofessional. She argues with customers and discloses pet information loudly for all customers to hear. She obviously is not educated or trained to be a good leader. Would not recommend and will be filing formal complaint with corporate on her unprofessional behavior.

Through chatting with her about issues I've been having with my dog and her experience and knowledge with her own, she helped me so much! All employees are super helpful. I was looking down an aisle for puppy food for my 11 week Rottweiler pup and an associate walked by and asked if I was finding everything ok... I said no and immediately she knew exactly what I was talking about. Awesome workers from the moment I stepped in until I walked out.

Service is good, store is clean, no complaints there... but the selection at this store, probably due to physical size, is just lacking. If you're going for very specific and common stuff, it's fine. But if you're browsing for something new/different, food or accessory wise, you don't get much to work with.

The store is fine, great selection of products. My dog received his rabies vaccine on Thursday so I schedule my grooming appointment on Saturday, given their policy is 48 hours after the shot. I bring him in.. 49 hours after the shot and they refuse me because "Our policy says we need to wait 48 hours...".

I have gotten a few parakeets here. Only thing I do not like about this place is the workers will not let me hold or see the bird I want to get or handle it. I just pick it out and have no idea how it is as far as Behavior. So you kind of take your chances. And they're not too good with clipping bird wings

Always have had a pleasant experience shopping at this Petsmart location. They have always had what I needed in stock and easily found. Cashiers and management have always been very friendly and accommodating. Will continue shopping here as long as they continue being an excellent place of business.

Took my white St Bernard mix in for shampoo because of his shedding problem. The shampoo they use worked miracles on him. The shedding has decreased about 95% and that lasted about a month. We just took him back in and he looks just as fantastic as the first time. It is well worth the $75.

Staff are always caring and efficient. Staff had on masks and took wonderful care of my pup. I have the pet Insurance through Banfield. I have always had great care and saved $$$ with my pets using the program. At one point had 3 dogs on plan and have been impressed by the caring staff.

Good selection and helpful staff. No wait so getting in and out for basic pet needs was good. Might be interesting for PetSmart to have a referral service for breeders that may have a broader selection of items to purchase from. Even on line is a bit slim for pets of my interest.

Had to take my dog in to be euthanized. The staff was very understanding and did a great job with her. She got a Snickers before the procedure started. They said I could stay with her as long as I wanted. All in all they did a nice job of making a bad situation a little better.

I don't use this store often, but the customer service is consistently friendly and helpful. I find the layout of the store difficult to navigate. I do feel like many times I am looking for something specific, it turns out to be in a place I would not have originally gone to.

The staff there are always friendly and everything stays in stock. If something is missing, they know when it will be in. They also offer dog training classes and grooming services. Dogs are often seen inside with their owners and it's always a great experience for pets.

If I could give negative stars I would. Pet smart have me a prescription for my cat. It expired while I’m out of the country so they won’t let me order food for the person who is watching him. I guess he will just have to die now. Screw you and give me my money back!!!!!

A great stop in Ahwatukee for your pet products. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The prices are competitive and the sales frequent and terrific. It is a smaller store, so they don’t carry everything they used to, but the Elliot store is just a few miles north.

Nice location, friendly staff and fair prices. Adopt an animal from the shelter(Lost Our Home) in store. I got my kitty from them and he's wonderful, all their animals are rescues. They need all the support we can give them in their mission to find and rescue animals.

I went there to buy a 3.5 gal fish tank ( I needed something small, that is the reason I choose this size) but I did not like the fact that I was pressured by one associated to buy a bigger fish tank if I wanted to buy 2 gold fish, I ended up walking out with no fish.

Great sale today! So glad I stopped in! They had the IAMS dog food I have been trying to get at the grocery store for 2 weeks!! I had heard there was a pet food shortage coming and I believe it, but petsmart had plenty of what I needed. And some treats and toys!

They didn't have the Authority brand catfood I was needing - Authority is PetSmart's brand, why wouldn't they have ample supply of their own brand on the shelf? Walked out of the store and ended up buying something different at the grocery store for my cats.

This is a well stocked and very clean Petsmart. The checkout/ store associate is very quick, and has an awesome County Durham English accent. Not what you would expect to hear in Arizona, but very nice! I always shop there for pet items. Thanks!

this is a mini / abbreviated store. has limited stock and limited items. however, it seems to always be nice and quiet inside, so if you have a skittish pet this is a good introduction to going to the store for them.

Always low or empty on shelves. Before and during the pandemic. Specialty feed are only few and takes weeks to restock. Their vets have given us a wrong diagnostics which we were lucky enough to catch it on time.

I'm being generous, the customer service is barely on par and the selection is eh. Also the species I wanted all had ich, a week later they had the same fish, still had ich. Need to step up their game

No sales staff on floor. Prices we very high on some items such as dog leashes and collars. Leashes were times more expensive than Wal-Mart cashier was friendly store was clean.

Incredibly unhelpful. Workers blocked aisles for “dog training” classes with unfriendly dogs that lunged for customers. Very unsafe to bring your dog into.
