I have a pretty straight forward rating for anywhere that cares for a pet. I'd either let them care for my pup or I wouldn't. I will absolutely not be taking my dog back to get groomed here again. There were a few things I did not love about the atmosphere of the place but could've looked past. Therefore I'll just stick to the facts and reserve my general low opinion of this place. While checking in I asked how long the bath takes, they said we generally take 3-4hrs but mentioned they would send me a text a message about 20 minutes before they were done. I wait about 4hrs before thinking it was strange how long it was taking for just a bath with shampoo. (Nothing else) Keep in mind we were the first appointment of the day. I call both the store and the grooming area several times. Keep in mind there were 4 groomers there in a 10x10 room. Not one answered the phone. After multiple calls I decided to drive over. See my pup in the cage, who had probably been sitting there for 3hrs unattended, no water. No one knew if he had been washed or not in the whole 10x10 place. (I am not even sure at this point) Or even if my dog was there, although I could see him from the entrance. Overall had I not showed up, I am positive he would've been in there for 8hrs. Needless to say I wasn't thrilled.

I usually buy my cat food at this location. The brand I buy is about 30+ dollars at Petco and averages about 10 dollars cheaper online (websites like walmart.com, chewy.com, and even petco.com).Today, I went in and showed the cashier that Walmart.com was selling the same brand and size bag for 10 dollars cheaper. The cashier said he was unsure if he could price match and called a "manager". The manager (a young blond kid with ponytail and attitude to spare) informed me that they ONLY price match "brick and mortar stores" and that because it was Walmart.COM he was unable to help. I repeatedly explained that they do in fact price match and even showed him Petco's online price match guarantee which clearly states that Walmart.com is a online retailer they will match. He became increasingly louder and ruder and kept repeating "BRICK AND MORTAR STORES". It's truly embarrassing that this particular employee didnt know his own stores price match policy and also had the charm of a rotten potato. Worst experience I’ve ever had with a groomer. First, I booked an appointment for 1pm, then they called me to move it earlier. Hoping that would work best for both of us, I agreed for an appointment at 11:30. They called me 30 mins earlier to check if I was going to make it to the 11am appointment, which I never agreed to. As I got there 10 mins late at 11:40, I was told how they could not take my dog and spend 15 minutes making up excuses as to why they wouldn’t be able to provide the services I booked: my dog’s age, type of fur, behavior (even if they’ve never groomed her before), that we probably only went to private salons before and don’t understand how Petco Grooming works and so on and so forth. When they tried to check my dog’s fur, the groomer (wish I remembered her name) wouldn’t dare to touch my dog, was standing a foot away from my dog with a comb in her hand, implying my dog may be aggressive. My dog cannot see well and at that point, the set up was so tense that she (the dog) was trembling in terror. We left immediately.

Re: grooming This was my first time taking my small, short-hair terrier to be groomed at this location. Lina is a very fearful dog, and the staff was very patient with her and made sure she was as comfortable as possible. She was very clean and her nails were trimmed well. I took off three stars because this service was supposed to include 15 minutes of brushing, but when I picked Lina up I asked if a lot of fur came off and the staff told me hardly any came off and that she isn’t shedding. I didn’t believe this because I know how much she sheds at home. So when we came home I immediately brushed her and the amount of fur I got is in the picture attached to this review. I am very frustrated as brushing is the main reason I booked this service and I ended up having to do it myself anyway. I plan to call tomorrow when the store opens to request a refund and will try to update this post if I am able with their response.

very kind to me & my dog, let me take her into the bathroom w me bc i had diarrhea (not petcos fault). my princess now has lovely trimmed nails for her walks on the concrete sidewalks and digging her little holes underneath the pomegranate tree. BRITTANY at da grooming station had the aura and charm of an angel lost on earth, too pure and loving for this world. i felt safe and secure leaving my dog (my love) at the mercy of her soft and tender hands and pray that when i must return to petco, BRITTANY will be there with open arms. also another employee had a sick vape box and it was badass and cool and also made me feel safe. a little slow on answering the phone, but aren't we all. wish there was a bigger collar selection. i also demand for the cats to been released into display again so that i can look at them.

I took my dog to get groomed twice and both times was turned away with poor communication from the staff on what was needed. I was 5 minutes late & the groomer Briana was very passive aggressive and rude about it. My dog is not injured, and I let them know I had used a cone to prevent scratching. They then denied me an appointment & said I will need a vets notice before returning. They where not empathetic, or accommodating. It was almost like a power trip from Briana. The tone In her voice was hostile. I understand if that’s a policy, but at least be nice when conveying bad news to a client. It’s basic costumer service. Literally going down the street to support a local business, get better service. And a better price. I have gone to petco for 20 years will not go back.

Was really disappointed with this location. Typically we adore Pet-Co's services, communication, on time, kind and accommodating staff. We had the exact opposite experience at this store when we had a pre-planned appointment for our pup. No one reached out to us letting us know that we would need to reschedule our appointment due to the staff not being able to lift him (he is 45 pounds). We drove an hour only to be turned away with no solution offered other than a small discount on our next service. The staff was very rude and acted like it was somehow our issue to resolve. Just over all vey disappointing experience and would have taken such minimal effort on their end to avoid but, they refused - i would take you business elsewhere, i know we will be :)

I’ve been taking my dog here for over a year now & today they refused to groom him. First off, when I first pulled up, both groomers were outside smoking cigarettes on petco premises (just nasty, & didn’t even wash their hands after they went inside). Then I get inside and the groomer Rhys was new, plus my dog has never been groomed by him so of course he was nervous. Rhys refused the service because of my dogs “behavior”, my dog wasn’t even barking or being aggressive. Rhys couldn’t even define his behavior. The communication was horrible as well. As I was explaining to the groomer why my dog was nervous, she was talking over me & her tone was very harsh. I’ve spent so much money here, & I will never do it again. A complete waste of time!!!

Horrible service don’t risk it. My dogs have been getting groomed and cut every month since they were 6m old. They are very familiar with what happens have never been aggressive or hurt a thing. But apparently they could not do anything other they bath them as my dogs were aggressive. Which is not true. I had booked bath, brush, nails, teeth, and face trim. Which was not done. A few days later we took them to another groomer with no problems. I was never contacted about my dogs having a hard time about them not being able to complete the service I went to pick them up at the time I said I would they where still damp and was given excuses and still charged a high price for nothing. DO NOT LET THEM TOUCH YOUR BABIES.

Took my Cooper here today for his first grooming appointment. We we're both nervous. The staff was super friendly, they made sure Cooper felt comfortable with them and that I felt comfortable leaving him with them. Paula did a amazing job with him. He went in a fur ball and had so much access hair on his bottom it looked as if he had 2 tails. He came out looking amazing and even had a little attitude like he knew he looked good. That in itself is he enough to let me know he feels great cleaned and trimmed down. Thank you so much to all the staff on duty today, y'all are AMAZING! We will definitely be back! ❤️

I ordered curbside pickup in the am. I received an email that afternoon that purchase was picked up, when I had not picked it up. When I arrived the cashier could not find my order in the system, he did not believe I had not picked it up and manager was not there. I chose curbside pickup to limit my exposure to others. I told him I could see a purple bag that looks like my food through the window. He said it was not mine. Next day I went back to the store and picked order up and bag that was in window WAS mine. It had my last name and last 4 numbers of order, which I had given the cashier the day before.

The gentleman in the fish department was friendly and helpful, which I expect, but also surprisingly knowledgeable, which I don't expect most of the time at a big box store and was pleased to discover. We had a pleasant, interesting conversation while he netted my selections; which I appreciate. Some employees don't talk at all beyond "what can I get you?" And it was a nice change of pace. I don't usually go to this particular store because it's not on my normal travel route but I'll be making a note to swing by more often for the great customer service.

The store was fine, but the website was a disaster. Tried to order some cat food to either pick up at the store or have delivered, and was very far into the process and was told the product was discontinued. Tried a similar one, and was told the store didn't have it, just before I was about to pay. So I went into the store later that day and found plenty of both on the shelves. The cashier was apologetic, but shouldn't have had to be - not one bit of this was anything they had control over. Do better, Petco, for your consumers and your in-store staff.

Like how everyone is super friendly & helpful, never a bad experience. The Groomers/Spa area is awesome. Have an older dog who does not like being touched in tail area and will forever take him to Brandi at Petco Hancock Center cuz she is the only one who he will let trim his tail without trying to bite. She is awesome with all Fur Babies, she has a way of making them feel at ease; highly recommend. I've taken him to other places and we always have problems, with Brandi we are in and out, no worries.

I frequent the petco on Great Hills for convenience sake, plus their customer service is excellent, however, after leaving this store, I will never return. The gentleman staff member was rude (while the 2 women who were working were very polite and willing to help) but the dude practically kicked me out for glancing at the clearance greeting cards after I made my purchase for the evening. I had no intention of buying anything else tonight, understanding the store was closing, but come on, give me a break.

Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I spoke with Brandie in grooming about getting my daughter's Australian Shepherd groomed. My consultation with her left me confident he was in good hands. Brandie booked his appointment with her as the groomer. She is very knowledgeable and conscientious. His appt was Friday Jan 22. She did an amazing job and 10/10 I would recommend her work, and how well she took care of me and Scout. She would be our regular groomer, but we are moving to California! Thanks Brandie!!

I’ve called so many times to the pet groomers and they never answer. I left a voice mail hoping to at least get a called back but never did! It is so annoying having to call many times and they never answer! I called customer service and the lady told me they usually always check their voicemails and call you back at the end of the day so that’s why I left one. NEVER GOT THAT CALLED BACk.! When I called customer service she transfer me to the groomers (hoping they at least answer) but they never did.

You and your best friend will be taken care of for sure. I had exceptionally great customer service and it just felt really nice to have someone shop with you for about an hour going over different things that you may not have thought of. And since I am a first time dog owner I needed a lot of help! I sure did get the help I needed here and then some. But - BUT - the gentleman who helped me may have been TOO GOOD of a salesman because I spent way more than I wanted

I made an appointment for my dog to get a bath and haircut. The day before the appointment they called me and cancelled the appointment because the groomer had an emergency. They said to call back to reschedule. I called back 7 times and left a message and didn’t hear back from them until a few days later. The lead groomer was nice and tried to rectify the situation so I rescheduled my dogs appointment. The morning of the rescheduled appointment they cancelled again.

I came to PetCo after work just needing some cat litter- I saw a turtle flip over and immediately went to an attendant. Nick came over and thanked me for notifying staff. A bit later with my 12.5 pound litter box, I asked for some reccommendations for a cone to prevent my cat from scratching himself. He gave me two awesome suggestions and even gave me the details of their return policy. After that, he offered to carry my litter to the cashier and to my car!

the website says items are availble at the store but when you get there they are not in stock. the website lists items costing much cheaper then you go into the store and they are more expensive. petco has insane mark ups on their items (i can buy most of the exact same products for ~50% less online) petco as a company gets 1 star from me this specific locations employees (very nice and helpful) are the only reason I'm giving an extra star.

Very very disappointed that they suddenly stopped carrying the food I have been feeding my puppy. They even told me to try a different brand! But I like the food I use because it’s been wonderful for the growth control of my puppy. I specifically chose the food because of it. It has a higher fat content. So I am so bummed out I have to find another store, so I’ve decided just to order everything online now like a true millennial. Booo.

Took my dog to get groomed two weeks ago and you guys charge a arm and a leg when you guys did not even cut him right he was uneven cut and was not the cut that we asked you guys to do I would never come there again I don’t know what Your new employees are doing but when I had my multi poo, you guys did a great job, but you really chopped up my dog this time have to leave this review I would have to look for a new groomer for my Yorky

Normally there is a very attentive and helpful employee there who knows a lot about dogs and he seems to possibly be the manager. Unfortunately, today I stood at the checkout for 5 minutes before an employee showed up to help who had been standing around playing with hamsters and saw me waiting. The employee then didn’t give me a chance to put my rewards number in or even ask if I had one. For neither issue did the employee apologize.

They don't have shopping carts and haven't for years. So I had to carry heavy bags around the store and to my car myself. My wrist is injured from the visit I made there yesterday. I have stopped shopping here because of that and their $20/mo/pet Vital Care Premier membership scam that you cannot cancel for 12 months. When the sales people at the counter tell you that you can cancel anytime they are "mistaken". Avoid.

The grooming shop adds on so many additional charges at this location. The first time I thought the guy was just being a jerk. Many many months after that this was the only location with an opening so I gave them another try. Same issue except this time extra fees were even more and pup's cut didn't look even. I don't think I will use Petco again for grooming and especially not the Hancock Center store.

They (probably) have what you need, but they are so understaffed that no one can help you find anything. And there is only ever one checkout lane open, so even if you quickly find what you want, you're virtually guaranteed to wait in line. This is not the employees' fault, and the people working there always seem to be friendly and helpful. But the management needs more people on the floor at all times.

Careful with the expired food here. I was picking up a bag for my dog 2 months ago and noticed the bag was already a few months expired. I let the staff know, of course they were shocked and offered a replacement bag (which I did not accept because the food they offered me had fly maggots as a primary ingredient...seriously!) I went in yesterday and the expired food is still on the shelves.

I recently had my dogs, Chopper and Mumford, groomed by Brittany and Paula and I was very pleased with how the dogs turned out and their amazing customer service. They were very patient, understanding, and compassionate while working with my two older dogs. They made me feel very comfortable that my little buddies would be well taken care of. This is one of my favorite Petco stores to shop at. They are always stocked on the things I need. I take a star just because last time I was there I felt as I was being followed by a store employee as if i was shoplifting. Every place in the store I went she just happened to appear and I do not appreciate feeling like that as i proceeded to spend over $150 that trip.

This is specific to grooming; it was my pup’s first ever cut and they did amazing. Communicative at the beginning and end of the appointment. Lance did wonderful, I get so many compliments of how well the fading and cut was done: This was the second visit to grooming, the first time was only a bath. Both instances she came out smelling great and in such a good mood.

The customer service representatives at this location are amazing. I am sad to say I wasn't a good pet parent before they educated me on the ways of ridding fleas on my cat. She is a much happier landlord now and sometimes even allows me to pet her. We now have a happy home because of the great service and education I received.

There was no one at the grooming store for my appointment this morning at 8am. Manager didn’t turn up to open the store till 8.30am, staff was waiting outside and I didn’t get any call or communication that they were running late. Not professional. I have taken my dog to this grooming location for a long time. I used to live in the area, and now that I live further away, I don't mind driving to take him for baths once a month. My 2 dogs have been coming here for a year but today one of my girls was not able to get groomed because she has a low grade heart murmur. They will not take your dog if they have a heart murmur per petco rules. While I understand, I am disheartened because they are very friendly and do a great job.

Don't order same day delivery with Door Dash. Wrong order delivered, I returned it to driver & never heard back, re-ordered for next day with a long customer service call. Order was canceled en route next day because they said it was delivered. ‍♀️ TOTAL waste of time. …

I like this Petco for many reasons, not the least of which is that I adopted my second kitty there. Also one of the employees told me about their amazing deal on sophresh litter, the 40 lb bag is less than $15! That is cheaper than anything I found at HEB or on Amazon!

Great place to go for dog and cat needs. They however do a terrible job carrying for the fish they keep there. You expect a couple of dead fish at pet stores. It is sometimes unavoidable, but they had at least 20 dead just floating around half where in just one tank.

The staff members are very nice, and everything is always clean. I especially adore Petco after their recent shift in only putting things on shelves without artificial chemicals. My cat is extremely sensitive and I want to know I'm offering him only good products.

They have a huge selection of Tiki Cat. I have a diabetic kitty and he has a very restricted diet. On top of that he is picky so it’s hard to find things he can eat that he will eat. Tiki Cat has some great options and my cat loves most of them.

Brittney is a super groomer. Did a great job on my Shih Tzu. My dog was in a great mood when I picked her up too, so she is obviously very gentle. Hair and nails all looked good. I can definitely recommended her.

Dwayne was ultra helpful in helping me find products and teach me what I needed for my new aquarium. And to remind me to not be in in a hurry to add fish before getting the water chemistry in balance first.
