#leedswestindiancarnival is held here every year. It is now 50 years old and I have good memories of this park. As a child I played there. As a teenager we went there every Sunday. The girls sat on the hill and watched the boys play football. This year thousands of people filled the park for #leedswestindiancarnival50thanniversary2017 . The music festival on Sunday was well attended with local, national and international musicians and singers. The carnival was also well attended with audiences from all over the glove, the Caribbean, America, Canada etc. Dancing, singing, food, clothes, artefacts, books, drinks, childrens' fair, everyone enjoyed the day.

Lovely quiet park in a busy surrounding area. It has a bowling green, children's playground and a skatepark. New trees have been planted in the past few weeks by Leeds City Council gardeners. Lots of pathways to walk round with intermittent benches and bins. There are two parrot type birds nesting here, one escaped and its owners come and visit but has lived in the park for at least 2 years. There are no public toilets or cafe onsite. The park is full of squirrels and lots if birds including blue Jay's. There are multiple entrances to the park and its users range from dog walkers to families. Very nice park

It’s a massive park. Just right for the carnival. Lots of toilets even though I still had to queue. Lots of food tents. They even thought about the vegans. There was a fish and chips van About 3 or 4 ice cream vans. I did get there late. Gone 4 o’clock. It finished near 8pm. A month later I got a parking ticket for driving in the bus gate lane I was using my satnav. Didn’t know where I was going. Won’t be going back to Leeds Carnival.

Gorgeous park with an abundance of trees and grass, it's a lovely place to relax, hang out with friends, go for a walk, etc. Benches are located around the park. There's also a playground, basketball court, tennis courts, a skatepark, a community orchard and a bowling green. I noticed that it's a very clean park, likely due to there being more than enough bins. The atmosphere is lovely.

Love this park. Played there when growing up. Has a few areas for football/cricket. Has a baseball/basketball/tennis area. Lovely flowers beds and trees. Also had a bowling area as well as a play area for children. The park is utilised by people to picnic, walk, exercise and ride bikes. It's massively used on Carnival day as the troupes depart and finish there. Just love this place.

Small park but filled with beautiful trees throughout to make it an interesting place. Facilities for children to play, tennis courts, bowles area and a basketball court ensures that there is something for the whole family to enjoy within this park whether the preference is casually walking, jogging or just playing and having fun.

It is a lovely place to relax and try to escape. Looked after green areas and lots of places to exercise. There is a children playground. May be a little more flowers would lift up the atmosphere even more. In general great place to take some fresh air. Just go and take a walk or for some jogging.

It's a last day of carnival and music festival. Weather isvery nice, people are happy. Also smells nice of different types of food. Right now I saw a guy who was been taken by first aiders to their care point, but he didn't looked bad, he is so happy that they took him on the electric motor career

  • Kyle Best

Great place for a nice walk or fun field activities. I wouldn't necessarily have a picnic here, but is definitely suitable for family days out. A skate park is insite with tennis courts adjacent. And also a bowls club towards the top of the park (however I've never seen it in use).

This park is like stepping into a fairy tale! The whimsical sculptures and play areas make it a magical experience for children and adults alike. The staff even dress up as fantastical characters, adding to the enchantment. Don't miss the storytelling sessions by the giant tree.

  • Nick Gazard

Much bigger than you might expect - with large expanses of grass with trees dotted throughout. The kids playground is a bit of a cement patchwork, lacking any shade, though the interesting play equipment makes up for it. Great place for a run, to walk the dog or a quiet picnic.

This wonderful park has a floral landscape with easy accessible paths. The outdoor gym is a great addition. There is also a playground and outdoor bowling green so appropriate for all ages. The Carnival is stunning every August. We just keep going back each season...

  • Joe

Lived near this park for 6 months, lovely green space. There is a community orchard which is usually open, great for sitting and reflecting in. You often see the same characters while walking/running the park and I will miss some of the interactions.

  • Luna Bee

Lovely park...currently being let down by some ignorant dog-owners and people that I assume need an eye test due to not seeing the large number of bins available around the park. Pick up after yourselves...kids are at risk from serious injury.

  • Rayne Sutcliffe

Love this park and the activities within in , when it's the west Indian carnival. Would highly recommend as its full of community spirit and atmosphere. The organisers have worked realy hard to make it welcoming . Must go amd see

  • Amber L

Grew up here , my kids were born here...moved around North Leeds then came bk to settle. Most chilled out park throughout day and night. So many birds and squirrels- nature is very diverse - just like the population of people.

  • Aqualibreo

Lovely park all round. It's great to go for a walk there, have a picnic, take there kids to play, walk the dogs, exercise etc. It's clean and well maintained and the people that frequent this park are all very polite and kind.

  • Ryan Wilson

Big open space with two bowling greens on site and a playground. Although the park is relatively tidy when it comes to the amount of litter, the actual maintenance (excluding the grass) i.e. the flower beds, could use some Tlc

  • Tom Roper

Attended for Parkrun: Really tough demanding course. 3 laps of the park including 6 hills in total. Nevertheless, really fun course, friendly atmosphere and great volunteers. No toilets, dogs allowed and pushchairs allowed.

  • Andrew Marsden

I went to the park during the carnival. The atmosphere was great and the food was well made. Other than that, it's a great place to walk the dogs, play football, or something with the kids. Or, have a picnic with the family

  • Flute64

Potternewton park, is a lovely park away from busy roads. Has character, lots of lovely trees, gets plenty of sun when it shines. Ideal for sporting activities, as well as walks. Perfect for everybody, young or old.

  • rebecca g

Visited this park a few weeks ago to attend Leeds Carribbean Carnival . The park itself is huge, and I like the layout . The view from the top of the hill is also really picturesque, especially during a busy event!

  • Zoe Middleton (Queen B)

Amazing big green space for the kids to play, great for walking the dogs, playing football, rugby, rounders, cricket etc and amazing for carnival parade to end and hold a massive carribian jump-up (party) xxxx

  • Daniyal Khan

Perfect park to go to if you have or scooter or a bike and also good for walking, there is also a workout bike which you can use if you install the app “KOMPAN Cardio”. Other than that, it’s a great park.

  • Gregory Loftman

One of Leeds best outdoor space. Well used by the local community with everything you want (apart from toilets). Skate park, basketball court, tennis court, play park and 5 a side football space .

  • Carl Dixon

Leeds Carnival - brilliantly organised, multi-cultural, diverse. Great food, friendly people, fantastic costumes - what more can I say. 100,000 people attend the event & just 3 arrests. #ALAW

  • David Horton

This park is a wide green oasis in a built up part of Leeds. It is well fenced and so dog friendly but disabled people may struggle on the hills. The only downside is the lack of toilets.

  • Kate Driskell

Super pretty park, and the tree lined avenue up to the blue plaque building is lovely! Very well looked after and lots of friendly dog walkers and runners. Not the flattest park

  • Terry Foster

My 6 year old grandson loved the playground. Much less crowded than Roundhay Park and no vans flogging stuff. Some equipment needs TLC, hence 4 stars. Park itself well kept up to.

  • Francis Johnson

My place of pleasure and thinking space. Always a joy where you can see people exercising, partying, random sights like deer. A joyful quite place in the city that's full of life.

  • Jan Rhodes

Nice large park with medium sized Manor house which would have been impressive in its hey-day. Nice walking around the paths, approx. 2 miles circuit. Nice lake in the centre.

  • Germaine Wilson

Lovely park and the carnival rivals Nottinghills. Superb location with a nice playground for the kids. Really nice for a run too although the hills can be a little unpleasant.

  • Luke Phillips

Beautiful in spring, great community park, community orchard taking shape and popular with park runners. Beautiful established trees, well worth seeing cherry blossom.

  • Indra Syan

Had supervision in the park with my Team Manager. We minded covid guidance and sat socially distant from each other and felt safe. Great park. was clean and felt safe.

I have visited Potternewton Park alone, with my son on his bike, my entire family and mum, and a few friends on different days. A nice place to be on a summer day.

  • Simon Doy

Under rated park, lovely on a sunny day. Play area for the kids and there is a skate park which is not too bad. Tennis courts and basketball courts are there too.

  • Serena Ayub

Lots of things are happening in this forgotten park. Cycling funded by the council. The children's play area is really well thought out, and there's lots to do.

  • susan skeggs

It was really good the parade was amazing so colourful music good what a shame that people couldn't take their rubbish home with them or use the skips provided

  • Nas Begum

Grew up playing in this park. Learnt about friendship and most importantly love. Amor, you know who you are. This is the cleanest and tranquil Park...

  • Alexander Andrews

Sadly the Black Music Festival is not a permanent fixture. Lovely park anyway. Convenient parking. The bass was so deep you could feel it in Jamaica.

  • Cyrus Tiz
