I had presidio way vet take a look at my dogs leg because I notice she would lift her left leg often. They said it was no big deal and her knee cap could just be pushed back in place. What they should of said is that she has luxating patella, and should do certain exercises to not get worse. Her condition a year later after checking with another vet is now at level 4 and now requires surgery. She’s only 2years old and this could have been prevented if they had not made it seem like it was no big deal. Also because it was COVID we didn’t even get to see the vet. The least they could do is have the vet do the check up while you are on the phone to ask questions based on what they see. Also it would have been good notice if they recommending getting pet insurance since this is something that can become a costly an issue.

Dr. Helmer and the entire staff at Presidio Way Vet Hospital are kind, caring and incredibly thorough. I don't think our cats could be in any better hands - my one cat, Benji, has been dealing with some health issues and Dr. Helmer makes sure to check in on Benji daily - even over the weekend. The quality of care is truly unmatched. I've had many pets over the years and this is the best vet office I've experienced. We are so grateful to everyone at Presidio Way!

Dr Link takes such good care of our dog Honey. She’s pretty high anxiety (the dog not the doctor) and is usually very nervous before going in but always comes out happy and feeling much more comfortable which is a testament to how well the staff treat her there. You can sense the genuine care and concern for their patients when speaking to them and I’m so glad we found them as a resource to keep Honey happy and healthy.

Presidio Way Vet and Dr Helmer were recommended as the best vet and clinic in the city and that has been our exact experience. Dr Helmer and team are so kind and show such care for their clients (both human and animal). I feel so lucky to be a part of their practice, and know that we are getting the best guidance for our dog. I would give them 6 stars if I could.

This place is the best. So caring for our (somewhat difficult) 3 year old cattle dog since she was 8 weeks old. I’ve sent tons of panic emails over the years of various health scares whether we’re in town or away and they always respond promptly and really care. Grateful for all the people at Presidio Way!!

Dr. Helmer is amazing doctor. She truly cares about animals and wants to help. She is patient and always responds to the questions. Staff is always friendly and appointments are scheduled quickly.

Very nice staff and vet! Just like going to my people doctors or dentists, they kept us informed of all our options and the pros and cons of each. We're definitely going back for follow-up appts.

Great folks. Had to come in for a heart worm test after moving back to SF and they’re an honest, straightforward veterinarian practice.
