We first arrived and had to stand for a short time wondering if we seat ourselves or be seated. The waiter came up and seated us, gave us water and menus. Literally 2 seconds later the waitress came around to get an order from us, we hadn’t had a chance to look at the menu yet. We ordered a share plate of grilled halloumi which the waitress couldn’t even tell us what it was and had to check with the kitchen. She checked but still couldn’t explain it. We ordered it anyway, there was no other was to describe it apart from a halloumi omelette with salad on the side, the salad was nicely dressed though. My partner received his meal first with the share plate of halloumi, it took at extra 5 minutes for mine to come out. Still quicker then the people sitting behind us, who had waited over an hour for their meal with staff messing their orders up twice!! My partner had the ravioli and I had to double check if he did indeed order a kids meal as the portion was not $30 worth of pasta, some of the ravioli was undercooked. I ordered chicken parmigiana and it tasted great, it was a huge meal (my partner ate half) and the salad was tasty however the chips were undercooked! The whole time we were eating the staff kept pacing the dining area constantly. I can only best describe it as teachers supervising their students during lunchtime. It was very uncomfortable. To top the night off, we got overcharged but a couple of dollars. We didn’t go back to save ourselves the hassle.

As you walk in we were initially welcomed into the restaurant which was very pleasent. We then received a menu and had a look. A waiter came to take our order, and was extremely eager to leave as soon as we said the first thing we wanted to have not even wanting or waiting to ask if we were going to have any drinks or desert and were left. There were 3 waiters that were constantly hovering and staring around tables, pacing around the dining area which was just incredibly uncomfortable. The one in particular who took our order I saw pace back and forth up and down the front walkway and stretch over customers when serving. These waiters obviously haven't been trained, and the restaurant having the appearance of professionality lacks it heavily. The food we ate was mediocre at best. We ordered a sharing meal of stuffed mushrooms, which were not stuffed mushrooms but rather flat mushroom heads with stuff stacked ontop of them. We also ordered a sharing meal of Panko prawns, which came with 3 panko prawns which was awkward to share between the two of us. The cocktails we had ordered were forgotten and we had to ask about them. There are so many better places to go in the city that offer finer service than here.

My wife and I had dinner here on the 30th of January 2016, whilst on our way to see the show "Mrs Brown's Boys" at the Plenary at South Bank. We were welcomed at the door of the restaurant by a friendly staff member whom then showed us to a table and then explained the "specials" that were on the menu board for the evening. We both ordered Steak and Salad (Porterhouse medium rare) and we have to say that the steaks were cooked exact to perfection and they tasted excellent, as was our mixed leaf and vegetables salads. Our meals were served quite promptly, without being rushed, and the wait staff service was excellent from start to finish. The tables and cutlery were somewhat plain, but well spaced out and you did not feel cramped or rushed whilst dining. Our Steak meals were really reasonably priced, especially considering the size (approx 250 + grams) . The wine prices (limited list but covered Red, Whites, and Sparkling etc') ranged from $6.00 to a maximum of $9.00 per glass, and there was a good range of Beers available as well. For dessert, we both had the Chocolate mousse with mixed berries, and the texture and flavour was excellent. Overall a great priced place to dine on your way to a show etc', with great food quality, service and staff.

Most tasteless dry Parma I have ever eaten. Got the special one 1/3 of the size of the normal one minus the salad got it served in a bowl with heaps of over cooked chips that fall out of the bowl as it’s almost impossible to cut the Parma in the bowl as it has to be in the middle or it tips the bowl and the food falls out at least the other Parmas were full size and looked ok but still over cooked. The only thing Special about it was it should have been put in the bin not served up. Asked for a bottle of water, to be told they would bring it over the staff stood there talking then all 3 stood there talking to 2 customers 10 minutes later my sister in-law had to ask again for the water before we got it. The beers were warm.

I visited the restaurant at this hotel because I was told how great their food and drinks were. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a pleasant server who was extremely attentive and committed to ensuring that my experience was great! I really appreciated that. Moreover, I ordered a Chicken Parma and lime and lemon bitters; I’m glad I didn’t order more because their portions were extremely generous. The Parma was phenomenal! It looked and tasted top-notch and was also quite reasonably priced considering. I am yet to try their other food items but this experience definitely made a great first impression and I can’t wait to go back.

Went here with my date and I was greeted immediately by a friendly waiter who took our order. We both got the chicken parmi and my gal got the strawberry coconut margherita. The chicken was succulent and the portion size along with the free salad and chips made the meal an instant hit. I went here with my parents. Ordered a steak cooked medium & so did my mum. My dad picked the snapper. It’s very rare to find a restaurant that can cook a steak to my liking all the way through! Restaurant 1903 did that last night! Dads snapper was also cooked perfectly. Then there was the fact that they accommodated all my changes from the gravy to the included drink! And now to the desert....omg I’m still drooling over the Italian pana cotta...it was amazing! The restaurant was clean & well priced & I couldn’t fault it! I’d defs recommend it, especially if you enjoy a pub type meal. Yum!

There continental breakfast is an absolute to die for. Absolute delicious foods. From fresh yoghurt, fresh fruit, a range of cereals, 3 kinds of breads toasted with condiments, croissants, mouthwatering different hot foods. There baked pudding is a must, Thats if you like it. There coffee machine offers a good range of coffees, and a selection of teas and juices. And finally the waiter is always has a friendly smile and is always there, should you require assistance.

A pretty solid pub-style diner near Southern Cross Station. The food was really flavourful (I really liked the barbecue pork ribs and pita combo) but the steak was a miss. Would recommend their strawberry coconut margarita as of drinks. Flourless chocolate cake was smooth and delicate.

Food was okay but not great. Pork ribs tough, the grilled Halloumi comes on a bed of capsicum, mushrooms and onion which isn't mentioned on the menu. One of the nicest meals we've had in a while. We ordered the Porterhouse with veg and the Chicken Parma with salad. Meals came with a free glass of wine or stubbie of beer. $45 for the lot. The steak was cooked perfectly, the parma was golden, slightly crunchy, hot and cooked to perfection. The ladies that seated us were very friendly and created a lovely atmosphere. We both highly recommend 1903.

Kitchen can't manage a medium rare steak. Twice they send out well done and one completely raw! Save and your time and money. To quote Hemingway: a clean, well lighted place. It's the Australian equivalent of a dinner next to a hotel. Cheap, competent food, well prepared. Not going to set the world on fire, but frequently full of families, city dwellers, and sportsgoers wanting a cheap, filling good meal.

Lunch and dinner menu is good, hence the 3 star rating. But don't waste your money on the abismal breakfast buffet. Tasteless and COLd hot dishes such as bacon, eggs, mushrooms & sausages etc. Walk across the street and pay a few extra dollars for the Holiday Inn buffet breakfast.

We had $20 dollar steak. Came with Mushroom sause, chips & salad. It was a good size meal, cooked medium as asked. Free class of wine nice. Pleasent restaurant with good service & nice helpful staff. Would whole heartily recommend & will definately come back ourselves.

I stay at the hotel and on the first night i went to the restaurant, the staff welcoming and greeted me also help me to recommended something, so i ordered for salmon soba and it's taste beautiful. The food come very quickly, the services and songs are lovely.

Just wanted to say I was really impressed with the staff in this restaurant, namely Januda who was really kind and provided great service to me and my family. The dishes were also excellent especially the porterhouse streak which was cooked perfectly.

Food was average and service was poor. We were told we had one minute to order before closing and no effort was made to ask if our meals were ok. On a plus the food was relatively cheap so recommend if you value price over quality and service.

Partner and I just had dinner here and it was fantastic. He had the crispy skin pork belly and I had the lamb loin, neither needed a steak knife and were cooked perfectly and had a wonderful taste. I highly recommend coming here for sure.

Actually really like this place. So rare to find plain honest food. Go here when i feel like plain old meat and salad/veg. Shame there is so much focus on chips with nearly everything. Also forget about the coffee, go with tea instead.
