Coles notes: Use a different company. Rydel Roofing is a Franchise. The one in particular that we were working with was for the Ottawa Valley. The salesman/general contractor was Mackenzie Mercier. Rydel Roofing does not do the work on your house themselves. They subcontract everything. Doing this they avoid responsibility for just about everything that happens on your home. The price was competitive. The timeline sounded good. The reputation seems like a good one. These are all the things that made me go with this company. Do not get sucked in by guaranteed anything. Do not take their word that they will sort things out. We hired them to do 3 things. Replace our sizeable roof. Replace and repair the soffit and facia. Replace the eaves trough. We hired them early June, the roof was on late November. The quality of work was, as far as I knew, great. So were the guys that did it. More to follow on this. Following the roof being completed, we were pressured to amend our arrangement (6 mos 0%) with them on our contract to accommodate the delays in their getting the roof completed. I don’t know everything about what caused the delays, just that they happened and they weren’t our fault. We declined and asked when they were doing the soffit and fascia. They sent two gents to our house to start the work… in Dec. we were told it would take two days… they started on the 27th and “finished” on the 12th of January. The lines are all over the place, there are ripples in the fascia and it doesn’t appear they used a level or a square to do any of it. They didn’t have the clothing for the weather they were working in, they didn’t have the tools, they didn’t have the materials. We attempted to regularly communicate our concerns and got no response. Turns out the guy managing our job was on a beach in Punta Cana. Thanks! For absolutely nothing you complete yahoo! In the end, Rydell gave us some money back on this. I should have pushed for more. Sometime shortly after, they sent two gents to install the eaves trough. This went smoothly, and they were fantastic people, although they did comment on the quality of the work for the fascia they were attaching to. Fast forward to spring - the snow guards attached to the roof were completely ripped off in some areas. Evidently they were not strong enough to handle the snow load on our roof. But they looked good. To Rydell’s credit, and the roofers, they came back and reinforced these. I’m not sure that they would have had it not been for the fact our contract with them had not been finalized. In summary - the roof: great. The soffit and fascia: will have to be completely redone. The eaves trough will have to come off to make that happen. Do yourself a favour. Go with literally any other company. These guys have no means by which to escalate your complaints. The fact that I ended up with a decent roof, isn’t because of Rydell roofing. The fact that I ended up with months of stress, poor communication, garbage excuses, and loads of wasted hours and effort. Rydell already has the photos.

Having done roofing myself in the past and being experienced with home renovations, I spent quite a bit of time researching the different roofing materials and systems before reaching out to 8 or 9 different contractors. From the beginning my experience with Shawn at Rydel was nothing but positive. He was only one two reps who spent time listening and addressing my concerns, answering my questions and further educated me on different products. I did not feel pressured or rushed to make a decision. Many contractors were quick to say they do this or that but Shawn explained in details Rydel’s procedures step by step which they followed through when they did the job. Their crew were nice and professional, and I am pleased with the work they did. I inspected the roof myself and it looks great. Despite being windy that day, the guys did a good job cleaning up the property from debris and garbage from the job. Like most construction job, it is unlikely that everything goes without a hitch. In our case, we had a drywall screw pop through the ceiling when a bundled of shingles was dropped on the roof. We have cathedral ceiling and the roof consists of 2 x 8 covered with a sheet of plywood on the outside and drywall on the inside, no attic. I think it was just bad luck the shingles fell right where the crew was. I mentioned this to the job supervisor during the inspection the next day and to Shawn when he dropped off the warranty paper. Both apologized and offered to have it fixed without even seeing it. I turned down their offer as I am still finishing renovations inside and it is an easy fix for me to do. To me, their reaction to the issue is what was important. I felt they were sincere in wanting to have it fixed and ensure we were happy with the job. I have no problem recommending Rydel Roofing. Thanks for the great job!

In summer 2018 I engaged the services of Rydel Roofing and I was extremely satisfied with the services I received. I had a terrible experience with another Ottawa roofing company and lost a significant amount of money. I contacted Rydel as part of a "blitz" to find a new contractor. I was contacted almost immediately by their office administrator who put me in contact with Daniel Gillespie. He set up an estimate with me at my home that night...a Friday night...at 6pm. The following Saturday the team was on my roof doing the job. Daniel and Mike Carrington went above and beyond knowing my previous experience and ensured my roof was done in a very short period of time. Every concern I had along the way was fully addressed. This past winter (2020) my mom has a huge leak in her roof that caused significant damage to the interior of her home. She called me in tears and I told her to call Rydel. She called and was put in contact with Shawn Laughren. He went above and beyond getting my moms roof done quickly and helping her through every step. I can’t begin to express how helpful and patient Shawn was in dealing with a client who is not tech savvy trying to get everything done. If you want to deal with a company that cares Ryan, Shawn and all the other staff exemplify what that is. You can't go wrong with hiring this company!!! I cannot day enough good things about this company and its employees. Thank you Rydel Roofing for putting me and my mom at ease after what was a very stressful situation!!

We had Jeremy come by do our quote for all new siding, windows, and a few doors. Jeremy mentioned that part of Rydel's process is that they prepare a 3D image of the home as part of the quote, so clients can see what the potential work done will look like. He confirmed this is a free of any charge. I actually asked Jeremy at the time how Rydel justified doing that much work before clients had committed, but I was assured that it was a useful business tool and Rydel was satisfied with the risk. When I received the quote, it didn't have any 3D image with it. I asked about the 3D image and Jeremy completely contradicted himself. He changed his story and said it's only done after you give a deposit. I am shocked that you can't trust the reps for this company at their word. I don't even care about the 3D image, as it was over the top for a quote anyways but I do think it's really concerning that they would explicitly promise something to a client then go back on their word within a week or so. We are likely going to go with Verdun windows and doors instead. Beware. If this was our experience with Rydel, it's likely they have no issues doing something similar in the future.

Our home is old. Really old. Like European old. And, while well maintained by its previous owners, some things needed to be upgraded or repaired when we moved in . We knew that the porch roof was in need of replacement, and I spent a couple of days working through Google reviews to find the right company for the job. Rydel Roofing was exactly the right company for the job. Jack came out and was clear and attentive to the requirements we had. He provided full information about what we needed, why we needed it, and what Rydel would be providing. Once we booked, Sarah was on it! Given the COVID-19 problems with supply, she got us the materials we needed, in the colour we needed, in good time, and then, despite wind, and rain (I'm tempted to add gloom of night, but it was done during the day), the job was completed. The work was done well and professionally. The site was cleared up and tidy. My garden beds were not trampled. And we have a porch roof, looking tidy and safe, before the snow! Thank you Rydel, and in particular, Jack and Sarah. Would I recommend Rydel Roofing? Yes, I would, in a heartbeat!

UPDATE: To his credit, the owner reached out after this review, and offered to do the work. The completed eavestroughing work was high-quality and done in a timely manner, despite some hiccups along the way (they installed brown eavestroughing rather than the grey we wanted, and repeatedly got other parts of the work-order wrong). This company does decent work - just be prepared to work with them. ********************* I had a poor experience with this company. I was led to believe they could schedule some eavestroughing work in fall 2018 when I requested it. They didn't, and got back to me in the spring instead. Rather than arrange a site visit to provide an estimate, they asked me to describe the work required before they'd provide a quote. At this point, they realized it was a small job, so they said they'd charge me $395 plus HST just to visit the house and provide the quote! This company clearly has lots of business, and doesn't need or want tiny jobs. I wish they had just said so at the beginning, instead of wasting months of my time.

I reached out to Rydel and a couple of other companies to have our roof redone, and got a phone call from Rydel within a couple days. Most other companies never even returned my call. The following week, project consultant Shawn Laughren came on-site to discuss and provided us with a quote. The quote was very reasonable (way lower than another quote I had received) and Shawn was very pleasant and knowledgeable throughout the visit. We set a date for our roof to be redone right then and there as it just felt right. Production manager Sarah Dagg was in touch throughout the process and was very pleasant and helpful. She kept us informed of progress and was always available to help if we had any issues or questions. The roof was completed and the workmanship is fantastic. They also did a great job cleaning everything up after the job was done. We couldn't be more pleased with Rydel's service and will 100% use them again in the future. Thanks Rydel!

Our initial experience with Rydel was very good. Last fall we had them replace our roof and install gutters on the front of our house. They offered a few different packages with competitive pricing, were transparent about which options were best value for money given our budget, and they had a shorter lead time compared to most other companies we had quote the job. Our one minor complaint is that they missed the installation of the gutter guard and getting them to come back and perform the work was a hassle. We didn't notice the missing guard until spring when we were up cleaning windows. We reached out to them via email and their response was very slow (would be weeks between responses at times). From our initial email about the missing guard, to the completion of work, was almost 4 months. Overall I would recommend them as our roof replacement was great, but can't give 5 stars given the issues with responsiveness for follow-up work.

My husband and I have wanted to update our roof and mansors for the last 5 years and we couldn't have been more happier with choosing Rydel! Shawn was prompt in contacting us for a quote. He met with my husband and insisted on returning another day to speak with me when I was off work. He explained every aspect of our desired plan and worked with our time schedule for meetings. He was patient, professional, knowledgeable and great sense of humor. His communication with us and check ups were impressive. Kevin and his team were fantastic. The crew answered any questions and let us know of any arising concerns at the instant. They were polite, thorough, and incredibly respectful of our property. We have a young son and puppy and the crew made sure the yards, pool and laneway were free of all debris. We had our roof redone by Rydel Roofing this Spring 2021. From start to finish we were very impressed with their business practices. Starting with their project consultant, Shawn Laughren walked us through the entire process and was able to provide insight into the different shingles choices (brands) and colours. The Rydel team worked very well together to prepare for the job and we were fortunate to have Abe as our lead roofer. He was meticulous with his work and with his clean up. With younger children it was important for us to know that he was working diligently to ensure their safety after hours (daily nail pick up, no debris left at the end of day). The team also ensured that our yard and pool were protected during the process. We would without hesitation recommend Rydel Roofing to neighbors, friends and people reading this review. We are very pleased with our new roof, it looks amazing!

Had a wind storm over 6 months ago called every roofer with no answer or return call, then driving home after bringing daughter to eye doctor and see Rydel Roofing I stopped the gentleman who was polite, courteous and professional from the beginning. I expkexpla my concern with roof and potential of missing shingkes. He understood my concern and addressed it immediately by coming to take a look at my roof a few blocks from where he just finished previously. I didn't even have an appointment may I add. Corey was so thorough and professional with pictures and explanation of every littlest of details from start to finish before and after shots. I'm glad I put my trust in Rydel and because if Corey I will ensure everyone know who the best, most honest and fairest priced roofers are. They had me at hello...Rydel knocked on our door in the middle of winter and the young that started it all was awesome. He was professional and assure us right away that our skylights could be replaced without issues. After a couple weeks, Austin called us to set up an appointment and this dude is well prepared and a super pro. During the presentation, we were so impressed with the details of the work that will be done. As a client, we like to know the plan, the guarantee and what a dollar will get us and Austin delivered. We just finished the roof and skylight replacement and we are so pleased with Marc and the team that did the work. Everyone is courteous, clean and great craftsmen! Thank you to the Rydel Team for the hard work and keep knocking on doors because for those that answer, you will get great service and bang for your buck!!!

I give them zero star! I’ve discovered some snowflakes in the ceiling of garage. We went to Ryder Roofing, they send someone came to see right they way. Provide the estimate “a medium job” they told us that in order to book an appointment, I have to provide my credit card info to them, I did( really silly of me). They never scheduled an appointment and NEVER COME! Several days later I received an invoice from Ryder amount with 672.35 with Activity “Roof Repair” , Description “ Small section under the window on the corner of the garage where the downspout runs over Shingles and wall flashing replaced from valley to the edge of roof.” Please remember, they NEVER COME TO FIX anything!!!!! Be careful for this company! They do not have any honesty business practice. I immediately called my credit card company and Ryder Roofing!

Changed my original Post because Adel reached out and didn’t do his proper job. do not do business with them because they didn’t follow the quote at all. How these companies are still in business, God knows. They said that they will put saddle up behind the chimney but it was never installed. I didn’t go up to check the saddle because I trusted the owner. One year later, the neighbour told me that there is no saddle because they paid half of the cost. Now we paid so much money to these guys and they didn’t even do their job properly. Can only wish certain things!. adel, if you want loyal customers, do your job properly and perhaps you will get some good business.

In October 2019, we engaged Rydel Roofing to help us complete a project we had outsourced to a contractor that abandoned it before completion and recently declared bankruptcy. During this stressful experience, Ken and his team from the siding division  (Phil, Tamera and Mike) have been very supportive in helping us complete the project. They explained us step-by-step how they would complete the project which included the installation of fascia, soffits and eavestrough in the new addition of the house. With the leftover material they also installed the eavesthrough on the separate garage at no charge. The job was completed on time and we are very happy with it!

We had the pleasure of working with Rydel Roofing during Covid 19. They did our siding and they exceeded our expectations. They were always prompt and were jumping from one job to another. They stayed and completed the job. The team did an amazing job on our house. They were respectful and very knowledgeable- we had a few issues with our wood rotting, and the team did a great job repairing what needed to be repaired prior to putting new siding on. We had open communication, always notified if the guys would be running late or be present at the job or not (due to weather conditions). Would definitely recommend them to anyone who requires new siding!

Siding and Known Underlay Repairs It was a pleasure working with Ken. He kept me informed of what was going on, as he knew I wanted to see all the underlying fixes and details, having been burned by other contractors. His attention to detail and understanding were key – because he would text me to come out as he closed up nearly everything, I could work inside without worry that I had to hover over him – which allowed me to actually get work done, and make money, over this process. That is a huge niche value for your company that I would highly emphasize when I recommend Ken, Shawn and Rydel to my neighbours and co-workers. He was very patient.

Hands down the worst company Ive had dealings with as a contractor. First time using their services I caught the crew burying old shingles instead of removing and discarding them. Second time using their service, their crew was arrested on site for drinking and doing drugs and had to come back three times to fix bad work. And now lastly they fumbled their estimate three times and now refuse to honour their signed estimate and are not returning my calls. They were a no show on their scheduled start date, obviously delaying my project. Ive now been waiting 5 days for a response from the company owner.

We decided to replace our shingle roof with metal! Shawn came out and explained features and benefits and provided us with sample set to evaluate. Kevin and his crew was punctual and well respective of our property. They worked hard, and completed both our house roof and shed in two days! Removing the old shingles and replacing with metal roof tiles. Neighbors passing by were impressed with their speed and cleanliness as they worked! Shawn is very knowledgeable, personable, and easy to work with. We’re going to use Rydel in the Spring to replace our eavestrough and downspouts to match the roof.

I live in a bloc of houses (4) that needed to have the roofs redone at the same time. After many quotes and much considerations as a bloc of homeowners, as to what company we were comfortable hiring, we chose Rydel Roofing for the project. From start to finish, everyone we dealt with, from the sales person to the office staff to the roofers, were polite and attentive to all concerns and questions we had. The sales person was knowledgeable. The office staff coordinated the job beautifully and the roofers got the job done right. Everything went like clockwork. Thanks again for a job well done.

We had requested 2 metal roofing estimates, from our local roofers in Ottawa. The estimates were almost identical, but we selected Rydel immediately - after experiencing Shawn's genuine customer care and prompt, professional service. The Rydel team, under Kevin's leadership, did an excellent job. Our concerns about the final clean up, were addressed as soon as possible, and did not deter my neighbor complimenting us on our - 'drop- dead- gorgeous-roof!' Rydel did a great job replacing siding, roof and eaves trough on an up-market home transforming if to a more modern look. They also completed repairs to the house where water damage had occurred after 35 years. Throughout the project, communication was excellent to inform us of progress and any delays caused by weather and the inevitable Covid-19 induced disruptions. Perhaps the most telling is that we have no need to call them back as all the finished work appears perfect. Well done! We would highly recommend Rydel for similar work.

We had a complicated project that required updating roof ventilation, redoing flashing, and addressing roof waving. I was very specific in how I wanted everything to be done (e.g. step flashing under siding and shingles) and had line items in the quote for every task. Roof waving ended up a complex problem that took multiple approaches/attempts to address (additional plywood sheathing didn’t fully address the problem). Despite all the extra work that was required, original quote was honored.

I contacted Rydel Roofing to do a roof inspection. The entire experience has been very refreshing and professional. I had Shylo in the office ask all the right questions which helped me build so much confidence in the company. A few hours later I had Phil visit my home where he walked me through the process and provided me with a very detailed inspection form. He also applied some caulking on my eavestroughes at no cost which was not part of the inspection. Highly recommended!!!

The experience from start to finish was as easy as I could have ever imagined. We actually put our roof off longer than we should have because the thought of any home renovation project is so stressful. The reps name was Jack and he went over the entire process and estimate in great detail and made us feel extremely comfortable. The roof was replaced roughly 3 weeks later. We are beyond happy with the final outcome and colour we chose.

Fantastic experience from the first consultation with Shawn to the finished product! The team of guys that came out to do the install were terrific! They had to deal with snow and still did such a great job! Came back in the pouring rain a few days later to do a clean up around the yard because they couldn't do it when they were here because of the snow. Excellent customer service! We had the front façade of our home replaced using Maibec CanExcel in Barista and we couldn’t be happier. Our sale rep, Shawn, was amazing. He was communicative, helpful and went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied. The installer, Serge, showed up on time and was super efficient. His workmanship is impeccable. We would definitely recommend this company to anyone looking for services they offer.

The estimate we received from Rydel was one of three from different companies. We wanted a roofing system with a long-term warranty. While pricier than the other two companies, Rydel was the only one that understood exactly what we wanted. They were able to have it properly installed and did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards. If you need a roof system installed, we recommend Rydel Roofing.

Be very careful working with this company. They do very little work them selves. They like to sub contract the work out to other companies. I did work for them in 2019 and never got paid. Rip & side the back of a house. I supplied the labor they supplied the materials. I did the work, paid my guys. Didn't get paid what was owed or the bonuses they promised. Ill never work with this company again.

Very professional job of my split level roof following this summer's tornado. There were no surprises and I highly recommend Rydel's staff. This was a great experience as my house was damaged in July's tornados in Barrhaven, Ottawa. Prior to contacting Rydel for a quote, I spoke a number of vendors and got either outragious quotes or the firm's asked for a deposit up front.

We choose Rydel to redo our roof and we totally recommend this company. Customer service is excellent from start to finish. After the first call, we quickly had an appointment with Shawn who guided us through the process. Great Service! I emailed in the evening asking for information on attic insulation. I receive a response very quickly the next morning that the company had discontinued the service and the employee took the time to refer me to another company. Not only was he fast to respond but he provided an alternative when he couldn’t help.

Everything seems unmanaged walked in and one of their employee walked around me towards the kitchen or their store room for water like he is some sort of owner of the company gave me a look no help nothing at all. Possibly an Indian guy wearing big glasses with brown jacket on . Teach him some manners !!

Right from the first phone call, the sales rep was very professional - reviewing, in layman's terms, the proposed scope of the work and available options - communication was amazing and the workmanship second to none - the entire project was completed in 1.5 days. All Covid-19 protocols were followed.

A Tim Hortons cup was ditched out the passenger window of their work truck while getting off the end of Hwy 5 near Wakefield - SeaDoo in tow. I personally wouldn't want to work with a company that thinks throwing trash out of their vehicle window is okay. You can stay on the Ontario side.

I am very close to the executive and management team and have a unique position to see a lot of what happens on the back end. Adel and Ryan are one of the best business owners in the construction industry. I would never hesitate to hire them for my roof.

I didn't appreciate a maskless rep from an Ottawa company knocking on my Kingston door to cold call in the middle of a Pandemic. I actually need some roofing repair but it won't be with this company.

Had to redo my roof after strong winds. The whole team was professional from the beginning to the end of the project. They left the site clean after the work was done. I'm satisfied with the results.

They didn't finish job on Friday, came back Sunday but it had already rained on Saturday. Which caused large amounts of water damage, which they denied to was their fault.

I got a metal roof installed by Rydel and they did an amazing job, I want to thank Ryan for his attention to detail and amazing customer service.

We had a great time dealing with Rydell to replace our 40 year old flat roof. Very hands on, very personable, and very attentive to our needs.
