Booked a Hybrid Camry or similar, upon collection was told that they didn't have any and that they could give me a Toyota Corolla Sedan. When I asked if they had something of similar size to the Camry Hybrid, even if it was not a hybrid - I had arrived from about three weeks from overseas and wanted to put everything in the boot - despite the fact there was literally a Peugeot sedan of similar size outside the window I was standing next to, I was told that a Corolla Sedan was the same size as a Camry Sedan - which not only makes no sense (why would Toyota sell two cars of the same body style, engine size and body size?) but was a lie. I get that car rentals are not a guarantee of specific make and model, but given I booked months in advance, direct through the Sixt website, I'm baffled that they couldn't organise something that was closer to what I had booked. No offer of a discount for the smaller car was forthcoming and had I not just flown halfway around the world I probably would have argued the points above. In the end, I had to put one of my bags on the back seat which was what I was trying to avoid by booking a Camry sized sedan. The car itself drove fine but could have used more attention to detail with the cleaning - there was grime embedded between the buttons on the steering wheel and there was a cigarette lighter under one of the seats. I did receive a follow up call after completing the survey received via email after the booking and mentioning the above, however I was just heading into a work meeting and asked for either an email or a call back, neither of which I have received nearly two weeks later. I can't exactly say I'm in a rush to book through Sixt again.

We rent a BYD ATTO 3 EV from Sixt and the battery was dropping dramatically on the second day when we drove back from Clare to return the car at Adelaide Airport. The battery was on 47% at Clare and showed we could drive 180 kilometres but dropped to 2% dramatically. We called Sixt road service and were advised to try to drive to the nearest charge station which is in Gawler. We managed to do that but the car was charging very slowly. We called Sixt again and were transferred to road assistance. Someone came and agreed with us that something was not quite right with the battery since it was dropping too fast. But Sixt customer service asked us to wait for the call back from the location which is Adelaide Airport. She said she couldn’t get hold of anyone there and sent an urgent email to them. We waited and waited but nobody called us back. So we decided to drive back to Adelaide Airport on low battery. Again the battery was dropping very quickly but we managed to arrive at Sixt Airport before the battery ran out. When we returned the car, 3 staff were in the office and only one customer was there dropping the key. This is not acceptable. We could end up waiting for the call from Sixt Adelaide Airport in Gawler forever. So 2 points we want to make here: 1. We had very bad experience with this BYD ATTO 3 EV. 2. We are not sure if we will use Sixt again based on the “customer service”we have received.

I booked a premium SUV i.e. Merc GLC from Adelaide Airport. Once I arrived at the counter, the staff told me that there was none. And quickly, they said that they were going to give me a smaller car. If not, I had to wait for 30mins or more for the car. Our flight was delayed that day and it was already 3hours after the booking time. Still they do not have the car I had reserved. Apparently, the company knew only how to take reservation but did not know how to hold reservation. We were then given a small BMW sedan. And they just deducted $50 only. I did not haggle or explain since we’re already late for our appointment. I suspect they just give out whatever cars are available to maximise the return and profit. This is not the worse. The car was not serviced properly. The car was so bumpy which I suspected the suspension was not good or the tyres or wheels were not balance. There was even a message from the dashboard stating that the service is overdue by 4000+ km. When I returned the car, the people said the service guy forgot to turn it off. I had a BMW myself and never once they did that mistake whenever I service my car. I was very disappointed with the experience especially for someone who was trying your rental service the first time. Bad experience. No way I am going to go Sixt again. No wonder your competitors have higher reputation than you.

Office not open at Airport but was asked to walk over to Office under Car Parking Station. Was a little difficult to find path initially but service over the counter was fine. I booked online via Economy Booking .com. Initial booking was OK. I needed to change my flight and arrival time and tried to call what I thought was Sixt Rentals was transferred to an overseas operator. The experience here was totally poor and unaccepable. Had no idea of my Booking reference etc. Then failed to record and confirm my changes. At the Office at the Airport was fine once we found it but they had no idea of what cover I had purchased. This is a totally unacceptable experience from a customer perspective. We need to be dealing with staff based in Australia to improve overall customer expeience. So we need to stop outsourcing to overseass entities. We need to speak to actual Sixt staff in this instance to provide the best opportunity for a positive customer experience. I was told to book direct with sixt .... but how does a customer know that when searching the web for a rental car!!!!! Will more than likely look elsewhere next time I need a Renatl car.

Me and my partners personal information was leaked/breached, my details were somehow used to hire a car in Melbourne from the Melbourne sixt and was reported stolen, (me and my partner hired a car from sixt Adelaide a week before). I had a collection company contact my partner and I saying he was at our property! to collect a supposedly stolen car from melbourne sixt !?? And that there was a police report made. I straight away contacted sixt in Melbourne and Adelaide but was repeatedly put on hold and transferred around for over an hour just for people to say “I can’t get ahold of anyone to help with your situation, please stay on hold”. Maybe a breach and leak of personal information isn’t a high priority with sixt. Issue still hasn’t been resolved and currently waiting for someone to call me back.

I recently rented a car from this location, and my experience was a bit mixed. The car I received was unfortunately very dirty upon collection, and it took 40 minutes of my time to get it sorted out with the team members. Even after they attempted to clean it, it was still not up to par. On the plus side, the staff was quite friendly and accommodating. They offered to help clean the car further or swap it for another, which was appreciated. The competitive pricing and the convenient location near the airport were definite advantages. In the end, while there were some cleanliness issues, the overall service and pricing were decent.

My husband & I had a great service experience at SIXT Adelaide Airport. Their customer relations officer was professional & polite. As I booked the car & I am a SIXT Platinum member, we are upgraded to Mercedes GLB which is a fantastic car. My husband drove this car for 8 days & everything works well. We returned the car in Adelaide city & it was the same customer relations officer who attended to us. He was friendly & it was just nice to meet someone who is always helpful & smiling to customers. The whole car pick-up & car return process with SIXT was straight forward & user friendly.

Pick up and drop off went like a dream. We hired a BYD EV. So two things to worry about. 1st being is the car reliable? 2nd thing charging! With that said the car was reliable it drove to the Clare Valley and back from Adelaide on a single charge. As for charging stations they were enough around to suit our needs. The only thing I could complain about was the windscreen wash bottle was empty on pick up. But apart from that I give SIXT 4 out of 5 for a great service. It would have been 5 out of 5 otherwise.

I’ll start with the good. The car, an electric BYD was lovely and a good price with no petrol cost for us for 250k of driving in a day. Perfect. The bad. The manager at check in was quite rude to her staff and me. The check in process was straightforward but it is ridiculous to require the physical credit card in this age. Sort yourselves out SIXT or you’ll be left behind the competition. Drop off was a breeze and the check in agent available at 6pm at Adelaide was great and super friendly.

The rental desk was easy to find, they have one on the terminal and also at the vehicle pick-up point in the car park directly outside the terminal building. It's very well sign posted and easy to find. My rental experience was very good. I had booked online, picked up the car with no fuss and was given the keys within 5 mins after signing the docs. Would I use Sixt in Adelaide again? Really depends on the price at the time of booking. If the price is right I will surely use them again.

Landed in Adelaide on 3 Oct with some co-travellers delayed on a different flight and we’d been on the go since 4am AEDT. We were supposed to then travel to Edwardstown to pick up as when booking, there were not any appropriate size vehicles. I went to airport office and they were amazing. So helpful and reassuring, we were able to pick up our two vehicles from them instead. Bit of a thumbs down for the customer support number which did not make contact till near 24 hrs later.

1-First the reception girl attitude was not exactly customer-friendly at Sixt 2- The car was fairly clean but in every engine start it showed us a message warning that car needs to be serviced (showing a wrench sign) it was annoying and made us worry a little bit as well as uncomfortable. 3- The window washer tank was completely empty and we had to buy water and fill it as we needed to clean window time to time I have not seen such a negligence before in rental cars

We enjoyed the easy pick up and drop off at Adelaide Airport. We chose the Toyota Rav 4 HYBRID (very economical) The car was clean inside but the exterior was wiped all over with a dirty cloth which left the entire surface badly smeared, not a good look when you’re visiting customers. Can I also suggest that SIXT include a small bottle of hand sanitizer with each vehicle, to save time and improve hygiene- I would be happy to pay for it! Thanks SIXT

Adelaide City drop-off nearly caught us out. The office closes at 3:30 (on Fridays at least). It took a couple of circuits of the block to find the car park. Man it's tight. The only near accident we had in for days of driving was in the car park ramps. Even though we'd pre-booked, pickup at the airport was slow and additional forms had to be signed. I thought I'd only have to scan the QR code and collect keys. Friendly staff. Clean car.

SIXT Service was great, however I don’t recommend hiring an EV unless you’re staying in the CBD. We spent a lot of kms driving around looking for a charging station. 1/2 didn’t work, several didn’t even exist when we arrived based on what was on the charge fox app. The ones that did were 7kw and took 24 hours to charge, however this wasn’t practical when the only one we were able to charge with was 20min drive. Thanks to SIXT Adelaide for an excellent service experience. The team were very helpful, sensitive to speed of service linked to our arrival time, and preference for the BYD Atto 3 in the original booking, meeting all our needs and answering questions with a friendly approach. The entire process was seamless, except for the Chargefox RFID Tag, though that one is out of their control. Thanks again team.

Good service. Attentive staff who seem genuinely concerned about providing a positive customer experience. Love their uniform/ presentation! Hired a Teslar which was a wonderful first time experience. Teslar super quiet and smoorh ride. No fuel cost of course! $1000 refundable deposit required. They make it very simple. Both pu and do procedure is quick no fuss. Just drop off keys to them and go.

Very friendly staff member, we said we had a mystery booking, which was confirmed and he said he had a SUV EV. We politely declined as we were heading north for the day and didn't know where we would/could charge the car. We ended up with Peugeot, which we were very with. Definitely hire a car again if we get that service again.

Nowhere on my booking did it say I’d have a $1000 deposit to pay! I was unaware right up until the point of paying! The lady in front of me only had a $400 deposit, then you have to wait 7 business days for it to be returned?? Why?? That’s a lot of money to wait for!

The only complaint I have is the car I pre booked was not there. They didn't organise a replacement from another yard and they only could give me something smaller. But service was good. Just for the future make sure the customer car is available they ordered.

Good initial check-in and handover, however the settings in the vehicle really should be set back to factory before every driver. Interior lighting was too bright and distracting, screen settings too dim etc. Battery not fully charged
