Let me start by saying I am Vietnamese and love Vietnamese food. So I am always looking out for Vietnamese restaurants to be my regular 'go to' spots to satisfy my cravings. I often go nearby Sunday restaurants or Deer Park stores on Ballarat Road. But I thought I'd give this Derrimut spot a shot as the reviews were quite positive. I am happy to be able to say this restaurant is now my new regular spot. Food: for my first visit I ordered classic special beef pho and avocado smoothie. Both were good! Most pho places in the neighbouring suburbs and indeed the western suburbs are quite good. So I wouldn't say this place is in any way ahead of those other places. Instead I would say the food meets my expectations for the standard of Vietnamese food I am accustomed to. Service: the lady who was my waitresses was seriously very good. So friendly, prompt and eager to serve. Many restaurants, particular Vietnamese ones have waiters who are just overworked and lacking any energy or friendless. But the workers here were awesome. Atmophere: being surprise of all was the interior decoration and vibe. It was very intimate and romantic actually. Chill Vietnamese music played in the background and I really enjoyed just sitting and chilling there. Very surprised. I will definitely be coming here as my regular spot to have Viet food for myself and family. Thank you very much for existing. I hope all Derrimut people come can try your food out.

As soo as you walk in, staff weren't very welcoming, especially the women with glasses at the front desk. For some reason she seemed angry and annoyed, and gave off negative vibes. Atmosphere of restaurant is a little lack lustre, quiet, and a little towards the cold side. It took a while for someone to come and take our order so I had to grab someones attention out of my convenience. Food is okay, standard, what you would normally expect, but would rather spend my hard earned money and time elsewhere with better service and food. I'm also shocked that despite ordering coffee earlier in the day, we were refused access to toilets no more than one hour later. I believe they don't care about the welfare of their customers, nor if they care whether they want the same customers returning to their restaurant. Its a shame that they would't make an exception for my partner who had to go to the toilet. Feel sorry for someone in an emergency who ends up in the same situation where they cant access the toilet when needed. Won't be visiting here again as it has made a lasting negative impression on both me and my partner.

I came here before and had a good experience in the past. However, today would be my last time coming here. I ordered a Pad Thai and it was the worst Pad Thai that I've ever had! It tasted bad and was extremely sour so I asked the waitress to bring it back to the kitchen to fix it. No apologies. After waiting for 5-7 mins, she brought the food back to my table and it tasted the same. I assumed that they didn’t even do anything about it. I asked her if I can have some bean sprouts and sweet chilli sauce just to fix it cause it was still too sour and then she explained to me that Pad Thai was supposed to be sour like that as if I've never had it before. I then told her that I had it before and normally they’ll put a piece of lemon on the side so the customer can adjust the sourness to their own choice, not just putting loads of tamarind sauce into the dish like that. Then she told me that I needed to pay extra for the bean sprouts which is ridiculous! It was rude and I'm sure that she had no idea of what customer service is. I'm so disappointed with the way they solve customer complaints! I wouldn't recommend this restaurant to anyone!

While Sunshine dominates the outer-west when it comes to Vietnamese cuisine, Saigon Pho in nearby Deer Park is quietly making a name of itself by offering fresh and quality Vietnamese food at reasonable prices. The menu here is less extensive than most Vietnamese restaurant, but this means that they can focus on a smaller range of dishes and excel in it. The chargrilled chicken and lemongrass beef rice paper roll were undoubtedly bursting with flavours. The smokiness of the chargrilled chicken complement the light flavours of the fresh veggies in the roll very well, while the tangy and piquant flavour of the lemongrass beef was a hit on our palates. Execution was spot on with the crispy noodle with seafood, and also the salt and pepper fried fish. The fish was enveloped by a thin crisped layer of batter, and the flesh within retained a subtle firmness to it. The umami flavours of the xo sauce made the xo pipis a crowd favourite, and FYI, Saigon Pho’s version comes with mantous, and not Chinese doughnuts.

We ordered "special beef pho" Vietnamese pan cake, sweet sour soup, "canh Chua" and sea food fried noodles. The pho were salty, we had to ask for boil water to dilute the soup. Lack flavours of pho. Second dish is Vietnamese pan cake, with these dish i hated when cooks want to be creative. "Filled with chop roast pork and pawn?" Firstly there are no connection between the filling and the skin. Secondly, the skin pancake were pre cook and not freshly cook, when ordered the skin is then deep fry in a pan of oil to get one size crunchy, but leaving the whole inside so oily. Third dish is the seafood crispy noodle, taste is ok but lack in originality, boring ginger and spring union favour. Seafood were all package frozen seafood. Lastly, sweet sour soup with fish."canh Chua ca." It has the looks but non of the authentic flavours. It lacks all the herbs which make the dish, the attractive colour and spices. Pricing is ok....

Besides the good food and cleanliness.. today's eat in experience wasn't so pleasant compared to my first visit. Had a rude waitress just grab a plate my 4yo daughter was still eating from that still had a couple of pieces of pork she was going to eat, without asking if she was done (which i didnt see or notice til she had walked in the kitchen to put it away)had my daughter in tears and saying she doesn't want to come back here again. Not only did she take it without asking, she didnt even apologise when i told her what she just did. I complained to the owner and she was lovely and apologised on behalf of her staff, but seriously.. is it hard to just ask instead of assuming someones done?

Been here a few times. But never wrote a review. This time I came on a whim. The space of the restaurant brings peace and rustic, inspired by Vietnamese people. It's not crowded in the late afternoon, but it's a good choice if you don't want to wait long. The staff are happy and always smiling, very polite and they are also patient with old people like me. I am very appreciative of you staff there. Will come back with my family and buy takeaway because I simply feel welcome like family

Their pho is very good, coming from a Vietnamese household this is probably one of the best joints for authentic pho noodle soup, their chicken and prawn springrolls are quite good also. On an occasion I tried the grilled pork with broken rice although flavour is nice portion is very small and not that great for value. I highly recommend the noodle soup over the rice dish. Staff are friendly.

@saigonpho_derrimut Truly a hidden gem in Derrimut! This restaurant serves up big flavours and they have a nice spacious seating area inside. Like how they have a good variety on their menu and there was so much to choose from. We decided on the baos, spring rolls, vietnamese pancakes, stir fried egg noodles, pipis in xo sauce and fried doughnut and it was so good. Did not know which was a favourite as everything tasted really good. Loved how the noodles were really crunchy and it went really well with the sauce Definitely try out their pipis as it was so good and it went really well with the fried doughnut. Absolutely loved the vietnamese feast here

  • Trang Nguyen

First time trying here and it was not a bad experience at all. The food was pretty good, generous portion. I liked my special mixed noodle. They gave lots of meats, would be better to have a bit more noodle in the bowl. My hubby got thick drop noodle soup with soft shell crab. I didnt like it but he quite liked it. Service was good. Staffs were nice and friendly. Good range of dishes to choose from. Plenty of parkings just in front. Price is around $16-20/dish.

Xo Pipis with fried buns tonight was an unexpected delight as it was beyond other vietnamese restaurants I've tried in both footscray and St albans. It's a brothy sauce. The soft shell crab thick noodle soup was very interesting, with a seafoody broth which reminds me of making prawn linguini sauce. Easy to get to and plenty of parking if you come from the west side.

The food - we had Chicken & prawn spring rolls and grilled chicken bun for starters. Chicken Pho and south style vietnamese chicken curry with rice. Taste was absolutely amazing, food was fresh and had all the right flavours. Ambience & service - the interiors are contemporary with a nice feature wall with Vietnamese painting. Service was quick and smooth. Overall a very good place for vietnamese food and much much recommended .

  • surjit raghunath

The lady at the desk seemed super grumpy when she came to take the order, we thought she was having a bad day so ignored. Ordered Rare beef Pho and ended up getting special pho. Gave us the drinking glasses but no water. Had to request her again only to get a scorny look again. Totally surprised about the other reviews about good service here. Probaby we got the bad apple. Anyways decided never to visit this restaurant again.

Truly authentic and mesmerizing Vietnamese dishes can be found at this hidden gem! I visited many restaurants before but there are only couple that can top my list, and this place definitely made my top two. Not only did the food were delicious, but the staffs were also friendly. Would definitely come back and I will recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family.

The team at Saigon Pho Derrimut definitely deserve a SHOUT OUT and recognition, as they are fairly new, provide amazing service & most certainly value for money mouthwatering food. Am grateful to have made the decision to visit, as I work around the corner, and definitely found a satisfying lunch spot *WOO HOO* P.S - The South Vietnamese style curry chicken is a MUST try!

We’ve been here a few times as we loved the food, and first time bringing the kids. The ladies were all so thoughtful and helpful in making our overall experience of dining out so much more relaxed with the kids. They gave us scissors to cut the noodles, they split the smoothie in 3 cup for us for the 3 kids, and the kids got some lollipops too. Thank you :)
