I was disappointed to find this place closed, despite the website and the sign on the actual building saying it was open, especially after paying $10 for parking. I visited during the SJMADE Fest, which may have been the reason (I didn't know this was going on). I understand the difficulty of keeping regular hours with volunteer operations, but I would check ahead if there's an event going on in the park because things might be closed randomly without warning.

The trolley barn and trolley rides at History San Jose are a classic. The Trolly Corp. has an original trolley that ran in San Jose until the 50s, it's fully restored. A definite stop for families with kids or people who love local history.
As a train enthusiast, this little exhibit is very interesting and definitely worth the walkthrough
