The food here is fantastic. That is what my two stars represent. The service is close to nonexistent despite there being waitstaff constantly walking up and down the dining area—not carrying anything, just roaming. The last few times I’ve been here, I’ve come with my “loud” friend who knows the owner and his son and she knows how to get the waitstaff to listen to her. However, whenever I’ve come with my partner, waitstaff has been blissfully ignorant to any customers who aren’t their friends, and make absolutely zero effort to do anything. Not an assumption, it’s an observation. When we (two twenty-somethings) did need something, it was the kitchen staff who would respond and do so very nicely, although it would take quite a while to flag them down. They are clearly the backbone of this business, but they shouldn’t be so heavily relied upon. The waitstaff NEEDS to get it together and pay attention to customers instead of intentionally ignoring them. Seriously, they will look at our table, and us, multiple times and walk away when glasses are empty or when we try to flag them down. So incredibly rude. All of the ordering being online makes dining here such a hassle on top of the bad service; it’s like the customer has to do all of the work and the actual staff does *literally* nothing. I can understand if Covid had a hand in this adjustment in ordering, however, it’s not working for dine-in and the kitchen has relayed that to me when I was last there. Sadly, I haven’t been back recently and it’s such a shame. The food is *really* fantastic and it gets completely overshadowed by the horrendously nonexistent service. As we have heard many times, people don’t come back for food, they come back for the experience. Please improve the experience and I’m sure many more people, like me, will be returning and raving. Let me know when you do because I really want to return.

Food isn't anything to write home about, but the location (vicinity and interior) is a strong reason to visit. Had an average experience, but overall positive. Great spot to hang with others and enjoy some drinks, food, or games being played on the screens. Service is solid though and the staff are extremely friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. Shultzy's just reopened a few weeks ago since they shut due to COVID (last Tuesday iirc) so I'm sure they're still getting everything together. The hours here aren't quite accurate as I visited past10 PM, but they do have a limited menu as the kitchen is closed. Kitchen closes at either 9 or 10 PM. Before closing, they still serve fries, chicken tenders, and fried chicken for food options. Got to stop by after the reopening and will definitely look to visit earlier in the day for the rest of the menu, so expecting to adjust rating especially after everyone gets back into the swing of things. You can scan their QR code located at each table to order online. If you're with others, by scanning the same QR code, you can all add to the online order and then pay online too which is convenient. I've seen this at a few places recently, but it's not totally adopted yet so it was awesome to see that Shultzy's has offered this as an option. Arnold palmer was very standard, just lemonade and iced tea. I mean that's obvious but figured I'd mention it since I happened to take a picture. Fried chicken is juicy, these things are nicely fried and have a great crunch to them. You get one sauce for free and any more costs an extra 50 cents. You get about 9 pieces or so? They advertise it as a pound of wings.

Disclaimer: I worked here from 2007-2014 and was a partner back in the early 1990s when it was simpler and much smaller Shultzy’s was my first meal when I came to Seattle in 1989 and it’s still terrific today. It’s now a second-generation family business with Will & Emily taking over for their parents. What makes Shultzy’s great in addition to their world famous fries (they stay crispy longer so you don’t have to rush through them) is their attention to detail. Darn near everything is made in the house, from sausages & burgers to the slaw and sauces. And don’t miss their Sausage Chili, one of my all-time favorites The drinks are excellent, too. Shultzy’s has always has an excellent selection of German beers, but they have a well-curated selection of elite local beers, as well as cider. And their full bar is value-priced, giving you high quality liquors at reasonable prices Finally, the atmosphere is fun - vintage UW photos, lots of TVs for sporting events, friendly servers, and enough room and flexibility to handle groups, even on short notice

What is wrong with today's staff that they feel so entitled that they think it's OK to complain in your face if you do not leave a tip? A tip is a token that demonstrates that I am particularly happy, or at least satisfied with the overall experience. If something goes wrong, and I am not happy as a customer, I leave no tip. That also applies if the thing that went wrong was not intentional. That is what happend. A couple of things went wrong during the visit, and we left hardly any tips. So a waiter had the insolence to point it out to us and to tell we needed to leave more next time. NO. Next time YOUR TEAM needs to do better and to provide customers with a better experience. Tips is something to earn, not something you are entitled to.

Kind of surprised to find a reasonably straight forward German restaurant so close to the UW. Food good not great. It was refreshingly free of political outrage. I had the bratwurst plate. Decent, not great. They are really going on about these German sausage burgers that I should have tried. Going back for more at some point. They serve liters of draft. Again folks, it really seems out of place and time practically on the UW campus, and functioning like a German style bar and grill you could find in a German influenced region of the Midwest. This reminds me of German influenced joints in Cincinnati and Chicago.

I have been eating at Shultzy's for 30 years. What Don started back in 1988 was just a dream, but his entire family has made it a reality! The food is great, the beer selection is stellar, the bar is stocked, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting - Husky game day's are extra incredible! Don't forget that they celebrate Octoberfest with over a month of Märzen-styled beers from Germany & around the world! Stop in for a homemade sausage and a pint, and tell 'em Balducci sent you!

Shultzy's is a great place for lunch or dinner, especially with a group of friends or colleagues. Service is always great and the Shultzy's team is always knowledgeable about the recommended drinks or foods available on their menu. The outside patio is a great place to enjoy lunch on clear days and the indoor seating is comfortable and relatively private for booth options.

Had an unusual experience here, but not bad overall. This was the first time I've ordered with my smartphone instead of through the waitstaff. The system was unusual, but we figured it out in the end. Some of our party still had to summon waitstaff as their phones just would not connect to the ordering system. We were seated on the patio in the rear and it was great until it started getting dark and the patio lights weren't working. They eventually figured it out as we were leaving.

Went in around 1030 to get food and was told the grill was off but we could get fried food was a little disappointed but when I got home with the food I did order I was very impressed. The chicken wings were f***king fire some of the best I've had and they were plain which I normally don't get. The pretzel and beer cheese were really good as well.. i can't wait to go back and try the other food. Oh yeah the sweet tea is freshly brewed and taste good

I went here with some friends to catch up from college, and it was perfect. They have a cool digital ordering thing where you order digitally with everyone at the table on the same tab, but you can also pay separately if you’d like. The food is good pub fare, and there were lots of cocktail options. Obviously beer and cider too, as well as mystery shots for $4. Great place to meet friends, especially if any of them are at the university.

Shultzy's is a great place to hangout on the Ave. The neighborhood seems to be a slightly less safe than before. The food is pretty good and their bratwurst and andouille sausages are great. Lots of beer options and a full bar. Service is great and fully contactless, from ordering to payment. Ambience is alright.

We were visiting Seattle and found this place to stop in for some cold refreshments. The staff was friendly and answered any questions we had about their beer selections and food items. They had a nice selection of German beers and also some local beers. They offer an afternoon happy hour for certain drinks and food items. The venue is pretty spacious inside and everything looked clean. I would definitely come back here if we were to visit the Seattle area again.

This is my go to place every time I crave for fries, and a go to place for most UW students to watch a match. Hands down the best fries I have ever had. Thin, crisp with just the right amount of salt. They also serve good cocktails. Currently their summer cocktails are on (I love the 5$ all day rose' though). Good deals during the happy hours (Weekdays 3-6 PM, Sunday all day). Other than that good food, particularly their bratwurst sandwiches.

Wonderful booths to fit your group in some semblance of privacy. Excellent food. They make their own sausages, import German beer, have these great mini fries and mix excellent drinks. Favorite spot in the U-district.

Been coming here for years and it's always amazing. Best cheese fries I've ever had. *Edited September 24, 2021* We've waited over a year and a half for this place to open, and are so happy they did! The place looks amazing: they really put in the work while they were closed. The food and drinks are just as good as they were pre-pandemic, and I love their new order and pay by phone feature. We look forward coming back soon!

Walked past one Sunday and saw that they were polishing their wooden floors.(they were immaculate) I head back on a day when they were open and they were playing TV Girl, Alvvays, Tame Impala?! Food was great, beer was excellent and some great tunes were playing. Making my way back right now.

Everything was ok except their qr ordering system. Basically, if you have something you’re thinking about and put it in your cart, anyone at the table can confirm it without your knowledge so you think you didn’t order it and end up ordering two. Nearly everyone in our party got two of everything and the bill was outrageous. Their staff was unable to help.

I've been going here for years now, and it's always been amazing. I don't live in Seattle anymore, but whenever I visit, Schultz's is a MUST on my trip. The brats and sandwiches are amazing, the gumbo is one of my favorite meals ever, and I have never had such good chili cheese fries anywhere else ever. Schultz's is a must.

Cool local pub with friendly staff and and even better food. A pretzel is just a pretzel right? Nope. The ones here are amazing. And the pub cheese is legit. Not gross out of a can garbage. It’s a nice compliment to the hot fresh pretzel. Also snacked on the red beans and rice. Obviously home made. Highly recommended!

Definitely pros and cons to this place.

Came from out of state and ate here twice in the mere week we were in Seattle. Really loved the food, drink, atmosphere, and, of course, the staff.

Friendly, quick and the food you expect. Got the drinks for free because we had to watch the pre-game cleaning.

Lively bar with a good German beer selection and pub food. Lots of TVs to watch sports.
