Keeping this very short. Pathetic service when visiting the cinema to watch Avatar. Either some person lacking intelligence turned off the AC when the centre shuts down after 21:00 (which happens to be during the movie which ends at 23:00) or due to Centre Management central AC policy on when it is turned off and SK could not arrange for it to stay on longer or have their own unit to allow for a reasonable expect level of comfort. Effectively the experience of IMAX 3D which is currently the highest grossing movie of all time was ruined. I can only thank and blame the SK Group for poor management and not considering and ensuring a positive memorable experience for the paying cinema visitors.

Yesterday, myself and a friend went to watch The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. When collecting our combos we were given stale popcorn and when asked when the next batch would be brought out, the staff dismissed my request and completely ignored me and continued conversating to themselves. I felt highly disrespected and disappointed for if you pay for a service you should receive what you have payed for. This cannot be excused or justified as the movies were not full and I along with many of the other viewers did not consume more than half of our popcorn. This is not the first time this cinema has not met the standards and mission statement of Ster-Kinekor!

On Tuesdays Ster-Kinekor have a reduced ticket price for Senior Citizens for which you require a special Black Membership card. Going to the movies have become quite expensive. R80 instead of R98 for Seniors. That is the reason the movie houses are mostly empty. Ster-Kinekor Cape Gate offers 2D and 3D experiences and it's worth relaxing during a day of shopping. This venue is situated next to the Food Court and it may provide you with alternative eats than the quite expensive moviehouse pricing for cold drinks and eats.

I wish I could give 0 stars. The staff here are completely disgusting! We came here to celebrate and instead ended up with Amahle jumping down our throat about the way to order drinks and snacks which is apparently on a sign somewhere. I asked where the sign is and get a half hearted shrug towards the entrance where there are multiple signs advertising movies that are playing… amazing. Keep up the great work. Next time I’ll rather go back to numetro, no customer service available here.

Movie got cancelled due to load shedding after we had already paid. Followed their procedure to request a refund via email to no avail. Phoning them to escalate the issue does not help either. Saw quite a few similar cases on Hello Peter from other people also having their money stolen by Ster-Kinekor. Update: 2 months after my initial review. For those looking for a potential solution to this problem. I referred the matter to the CGSO which had it sorted in about 2 weeks.

If you looking forward to watch the biggest blockbuster of the year, choose IMAX. We watched John Wick Chapter 4 a few months ago and it was amazing! With splendid visuals, a large screen, comfortable seating and superb surround sound, you feel like you are in the movie! Staff were friendly, popcorn queue was efficient, and cinema was very clean. It is a little pricey with IMAX tickets coming in at R200 now! But once in a while when a movie deserves IMAX, treat yourself!

Very bad experience. Our imax moving started 55 minutes later than scheduled. All our pop corn and snacks was done before it started. Someone came to say the projector was faulty after we waiting 40 minutes. After paying so much for your ticket and having to pay a hours longer for parking the least they could do it give discount or give a free movie it would have cost them nothing. Disappointing as this was our first imax experience

I bought a ticket for equaliser 3. Due to my throat being irritated I asked politely if I could take my homemade lemon and honey water with me to prevent coughing and being a disturbance to others. I know that beverages and snacks from outside are not allowed but this was not something I could buy at their counter. I did for some reason expect reasonability but sorry to say there was none. Been here twice in recent months and had a positive experience on both occasions. We went on the opening weekend of Oppenheimer and Barbie so it was beyond crowded but the staff handled it so well and kept the queue moving nicely. Went back a second time recently and it was very efficient and pleasant. Cinemas seem well-maintained, staff are friendly and the ordering process is seamless.

It borders on a poor cinema experience, but it's OK. We don't have any other cinema option anyway. Picture quality is poor and brightness is set too low. A lot of graining in the picture as well and blur is a problem. Sound is OK, but not the best. Price per ticket is too high. There is also no differentiation in cost per ticket for the smaller cinemas with smaller screens.

I've come here too many times to count, and I've had a great experience nearly every time. The IMAX is great, and loadshedding does not cause much of a problem. The theaters are well-kept and clean, and the seats are comfy and in good condition. This is one of my favorite cinemas - and I've been to several across the globe, including in Japan and Spain.

A great imax experience once again! The upgrades done over the past few years make for a lekke place to be. Loadshedding makes for low attendance numbers, but backup power is available, albeit with a few minutes break for everything to start up. Nothing beats the big screen experience. And oh, CREED 3, well worth watching in the cinema

This review is mostly for Gift. I believe he is the manager at the Cape Gate branch. He is always super friendly, helpful & polite whenever my husband & I encounter him at the cinema! He is an asset to the team & deserves the recognition. Keep it up Gift! I must also add that the rest of the staff there are also top notch. Great work!

It is freezing cold inside the cinema. Be sure to bring a blanket (lol) or a thick jacket. Nothing bad to say about the experience otherwise. For those who haven't been for years, they are now giving the popcorn in brown bags and the flavouring in sachets. It actually makes it easier to mix it evenly.

We watched John Wick Chapter 4 in IMAX about a month back and it was amazing! Popcorn, snacks and drinks were great and seating was very comfortable. IMAX incredible picture quality and outrageous sound system was really something else. Clean cinema and friendly staff. 10/10. Highly recommend!

There's nobody at the self service machines to help those who doesn't understand how it works, hence there's a delay sand always queues. The staff is very unhelpful and unfriendly. It's a nice place to watch the movie was nice but more friendliness so t kill the customers .

We were having supper at Cape Gate on the spur of the moment decided to go watch a movie. We agreed on the Sound of Freedom about child trafficking. We had a lovely evening. The one negative that cost one star is that the seats are a bit small and uncomfortable.

Comfortable chairs, clean cinema, staff that are quick with orders. The popcorn line was so long but moved so quickly. The waiting area gets a bit cramped just before they open the doors. But other than that, a perfect place to watch a movie!

We saw the 3D version of Jurassic World on Sat, 25 June and were expecting to be blown away with the cinematic experience. Hopefully worth spending R124 on a 3D ticket for a movie with such amazing graphics right? Wrong! The picture quality

Overall great experience, friendly customer service and a good cinematic setup and experience, but if I’m going to pay R80 for a small popcorn combo I expect at the very least that it should be warm. Let’s not have the popcorn pre-packaged

I visited the cinema today like I have several other times. Great place honestly. The only concern was the IMAX theatre. I’m not sure why the theatre was a quarter or even less than what it should have. Maybe it’s Covid regulations but

The sound was so soft... totally ruined the "movie" experience. If someone talked during the movie you could hear them. As a first timer here i would not recommend. Going to the movies is about the emmersive experience for me.

If you haven't experienced IMax in 3D, do yourself a favor and go. Everything including snacks must be bought with a card. No cash is accepted. I would definitely suggest pre-ordering online for easier and quicker service

If you cannot keep the electricity on with the generators you advertise- what’s the use to sell tickets? 40minutes into the movie and nothing. Het a voucher for the movie but not for the snacks bought! Seriously

High quality seats with well thought out structure of how to get popcorn or tickets. Friendly staff that are keen to help if you need assistance. Movie theaters are well maintained and is a awesome experience

Loved going to the movies. Cape gate is clean and neat. Only gripe is the prices to the snacks. Its ridiculous! I would visit more if it was affordable. It gets expensive trying to take your kids there...

I went to wach the long awaited movie Avatar - The way of water at Ster Kinekor at The Imax Cape Gate past weekend. What an enjoyable experience!!! Will definitely watch other 3D movies in future there!!!

Love it Love it Love Watch Avatar and our experience was next level. Amazing. You want to touch the sea animals, you will dive for safety when the bullets start flying. Highly recommend!

The sound. The crispness and richness of the colour makes the IMAX experience worth it. I watched Avengers: Infinity War in IMAX and I'd have it no other way. I want to watch it again.

I have had problems at this branch but I will keep on going there because they treat the customer with respect. And even thought it took time my queries where answered.

Love the set up! So Efficient. Spice Packets work so much better than the shakers! No Lines really as you can book online and collect snacks at the counter.
